And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as
Joash his father did.
And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father David had done. He did
everything as his father
Joash had done.
But the children of the murderers he
slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but
every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
Yet he did not put the sons of the murderers to death, but acted according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”

Then Menahem
smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he
smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he
ripped up.
At that time Menahem, starting from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and
everyone in its vicinity, because they would not open their gates. So he attacked Tiphsah and
ripped open all the
pregnant women.

Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the
Samaritans had made,
every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
Nevertheless, the people of each nation continued to make their own gods in the cities where they had settled, and they set them up in the shrines that the people of Samaria had made on the high places.
And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for
evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.
And you must always be careful to observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments He wrote for you. Do not worship other gods.
Hearken not to
Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye
every man of his own vine, and
every one of his fig tree, and drink ye
every one the waters of his
cistern:
Do not
listen to
Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then
every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and drink water from his own
cistern,
Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And
Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
“What have they seen in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have seen
everything in my palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
And he set a
graven image of the
grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for
ever:
Manasseh even took the carved Asherah pole he had made and set it up in the temple, of which the LORD had said to David and his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will establish My Name
forever.
And
Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of
every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh-nechoh.
So
Jehoiakim paid the silver and gold to Pharaoh Neco, but to meet Pharaoh’s demand he taxed the land and exacted the silver and the gold from the people, each according to his wealth.

Their brethren also the Levites were appointed unto all manner of service of the tabernacle of the house of God.
Their fellow Levites were assigned to every kind of service of the tabernacle, the house of God.
And they
lodged round about the house of God, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof
every morning
pertained to them.
They would
spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they were responsible for guarding it and opening it
every morning.
And other of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the
shewbread, to prepare it
every sabbath.
Some of their Kohathite brothers were responsible for preparing the rows of the
showbread every Sabbath.

Jabesh-
gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
When the people of
Jabesh-
gilead heard about
everything the Philistines had done to Saul,
And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of
Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.

And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.
And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obed-
edom, and all that he had.
Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-
edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and
everything he owned.
And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
And David’s fame went out into every land, and the LORD caused all nations to fear him.
Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.
Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before Him
forever.”
And he dealt to
every one of Israel, both man and woman, to
every one a
loaf of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a
flagon of wine.
Then he distributed to
every man and woman of Israel a
loaf of bread, a date
cake, and a
raisin cake.
And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an
everlasting covenant,
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an
everlasting covenant:
O give
thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for
ever.
Give
thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for
ever and
ever. And all the people said,
Amen, and praised the LORD.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from
everlasting to
everlasting.” Then all the people said, “
Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”
So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD
Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as
every day’s work required:
So David left
Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to minister there regularly according to the daily requirements,
And with them Heman and
Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give
thanks to the LORD, because his mercy endureth for
ever;
With them were Heman,
Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give
thanks to the LORD, for “His loving devotion endures
forever.”
And all the people departed
every man to his house: and David returned to
bless his house.
Then all the people departed for their homes, and David returned home to
bless his household.
Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I
ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to
shepherd My people, ‘Why
haven’t you built Me a house of
cedar?’
He shall build me an house, and I will
stablish his throne for
ever.
He will build a house for Me, and I will establish his throne
forever.
But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for
ever: and his throne shall be established for
evermore.
But I will set him over My house and My kingdom
forever, and his throne will be established
forever.”
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.
For thy people Israel
didst thou make thine own people for
ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
For You have made Your people Israel Your very own
forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established
forever. Do as You have promised,
Let it even be established, that thy name may be
magnified for
ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
so that Your name will be established and
magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
Now therefore let it please thee to
bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for
ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for
ever.
So now You have been pleased to
bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue
forever before You. For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed
forever.”
Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the
pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore
advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
between three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies and overtaken by their swords, or three days of the sword of the LORD—days of plague upon the land, with the angel of the LORD
ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
But a son will be born to you who will be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for his name will be Solomon, and I will grant to Israel peace and quiet during his reign.
He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.
He is the one who will build a house for My Name. He will be My son, and I will be his Father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel
forever.’
Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of
cunning men for
every manner of work.
You also have many workers: stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and men skilled in every kind of work—
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
“Is not the LORD your God with you, and has He not granted you rest on every side? For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land has been subdued before the LORD and His people.
The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should
sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for
ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him, and to
bless in his name for
ever.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart
forever to
consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister before Him, and to
pronounce blessings in His name
forever.
For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
For David had said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem
forever.
And to stand
every morning to
thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;
They were also to stand
every morning to give
thanks and praise to the LORD, and likewise in the evening.
And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate.
They cast lots for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.
To Shuppim and Hosah the lot came forth westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the
causeway of the going up, ward against ward.
The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending
highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at
every watch.
And all that Samuel the
seer, and Saul the son of
Kish, and
Abner the son of
Ner, and
Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and
whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
Everything that had been dedicated by Samuel the
seer, Saul son of
Kish,
Abner son of
Ner, and
Joab son of Zeruiah, along with
everything else that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of
Manasseh, for
every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of
Manasseh for
every matter pertaining to God and to the affairs of the king.
Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
This is the list of the Israelites—the heads of families, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king in
every matter concerning the divisions on
rotating military duty each month throughout the year. There were 24,000 men in each division:
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of all the property and cattle of the king and his sons, along with the court officials and mighty men—
every mighty man of
valor.
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for
ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me out of all my father’s house to be king over Israel
forever. For He chose Judah as leader, and from the house of Judah He chose my father’s household, and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.
I will establish his kingdom
forever, if he
resolutely carries out My commandments and ordinances, as is being done this day.’
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the
audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for
ever.
So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, keep and seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God, so that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants
forever.
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou
forsake him, he will cast thee off for
ever.
As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches
every heart and understands the intent of
every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, He will
reject you
forever.
And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the
treasuries of the house of God, and of the
treasuries of the dedicated things:
The plans contained
everything David had in mind for the courts of the house of the LORD, for all the surrounding rooms, for the
treasuries of the house of God and of the dedicated things,
He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:
the weight of all the gold articles for every kind of service; the weight of all the silver articles for every kind of service;
Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for
every candlestick, and for the lamps thereof: and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the
candlestick, and also for the lamps thereof, according to the use of
every candlestick.
the weight of the gold lampstands and their lamps, including the weight of each lampstand and its lamps; the weight of each silver lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand;
And by weight he gave gold for the tables of
shewbread, for
every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver:
the weight of gold for each table of
showbread, and of silver for the silver tables;
Also pure gold for the fleshhooks, and the
bowls, and the cups: and for the golden basons he gave gold by weight for
every bason; and likewise silver by weight for
every bason of silver:
the weight of the pure gold for the forks,
sprinkling bowls, and pitchers; the weight of each gold
dish; the weight of each silver
bowl;
And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of
workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
The divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the service of the house of God, and
every willing man of
every skill will be at your
disposal for the work. The officials and all the people are fully at your command.”
Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
Then David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly and said: “May You be blessed, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from
everlasting to
everlasting.
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art
exalted as head above all.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the
splendor and the majesty, for
everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are
exalted as head over all.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:
O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, keep this desire
forever in the intentions of the hearts of Your people, and direct their hearts toward You.
Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
Then Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every leader in all Israel—the heads of the families.
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual
shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for
ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously, and for making burnt offerings
every morning and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
The son of a woman of the daughters of
Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in
crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out
every device which shall be put to him, with thy
cunning men, and with the
cunning men of my lord David thy father.
He is the son of a woman from the daughters of
Dan, and his father is a man of Tyre. He is skilled in work with gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, purple, blue, and
crimson yarn, and fine linen. He is experienced in
every kind of engraving and can
execute any design that is given him. He will work with your
craftsmen and with those of my lord, your father David.
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and
thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the
trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for
ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;
The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and
thank the LORD with one voice. They lifted up their voices, accompanied by
trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments, in praise to the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.” And the temple, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud
But I have built an house of
habitation for thee, and a place for thy dwelling for
ever.
and I have built You an
exalted house, a place for You to dwell
forever.”
Then what prayer or what
supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when
every one shall know his own
sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and render unto
every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of men—
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the
pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for
ever.
When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they bowed down on the
pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave
thanks to the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.”
And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for
ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded
trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
The priests stood at their posts, as did the Levites with the musical instruments of the LORD, which King David had made for giving
thanks to the LORD and with which David had offered praise, saying, “For His loving devotion endures
forever.” Across from the Levites, the priests sounded
trumpets, and all the Israelites were standing.
For now have I chosen and
sanctified this house, that my name may be there for
ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
For I have now chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there
forever. My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.
And this house, which is high, shall be an
astonishment to
every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
And when this temple has become a
heap of
rubble, all who pass by it will be
appalled and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’
Even after a certain rate
every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.
He observed the daily requirement for offerings according to the commandment of Moses for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts—the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of
every day required: the
porters also by their courses at
every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
In keeping with the ordinances of his father David, Solomon appointed the divisions of the priests over their service, and the Levites for their duties to offer praise and to minister before the priests according to the daily requirement. He also appointed gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate, for this had been the command of David, the man of God.
Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you to set you on His throne to be king for the LORD your God. Because your God loved Israel enough to establish them
forever, He has made you king over them to carry out justice and righteousness.”
And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.
Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like this had ever been made for any kingdom.
For the king’s ships went to
Tarshish with the servants of Huram:
every three years once came the ships of
Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
For the king had the ships of
Tarshish that went with
Hiram’s servants, and once
every three years the ships of
Tarshish would arrive bearing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.
And they brought
every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and
raiment,
harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
Year after year, each
visitor would bring his tribute: articles of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices, horses, and mules.
And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.
They replied, “If you will be kind to these people and please them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants
forever.”
And when all Israel saw that the king would not
hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and we have none inheritance in the son of
Jesse:
every man to your tents, O Israel: and now, David, see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.
When all Israel saw that the king had refused to
listen to them, they answered the king: “What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of
Jesse? To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David!” So all the Israelites went home,
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return
every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against
Jeroboam.
that this is what the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers. Each of you must return home, for this word is from Me.’” So they
listened to the words of the LORD and turned back from going against
Jeroboam.
And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.
He also put shields and spears in all the cities and strengthened them greatly. So Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.
Those from every tribe of Israel who had set their hearts to seek the LORD their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And he dealt wisely, and
dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto
every fenced city: and he gave them
victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.
Rehoboam also acted wisely by
dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and sought many wives for them.
So
Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
So King
Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem and seized the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the royal palace. He took
everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Do you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the
kingship of Israel to David and his descendants
forever by a covenant of salt?
And they burn unto the LORD
every morning and
every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the
shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the
candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn
every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have
forsaken him.
Every morning and
every evening they present burnt offerings and
fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of
showbread on the
ceremonially clean table, and
every evening they light the lamps of the gold lampstand. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have
forsaken Him.
Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on
every side. So they built and
prospered.
So he said to the people of Judah, “Let us build these cities and
surround them with walls and towers, with doors and bars. The land is still ours because we have sought the LORD our God. We have sought Him and He has given us rest on
every side.” So they built and
prospered.
And all Judah
rejoiced at the oath: for they had
sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.
And all Judah
rejoiced over the oath, for they had
sworn it with all their heart. They had sought Him earnestly, and He was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on
every side.
And he placed forces in all the
fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which
Asa his father had taken.
He stationed troops in
every fortified city of Judah and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that his father
Asa had captured.
