For
false Christs and
false prophets shall rise, and shall
shew signs and wonders, to
seduce, if it were possible, even the
elect.
For
false Christs and
false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders that would
deceive even the
elect, if that were possible.
For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
For many bore false witness against Jesus, but their testimony was inconsistent.
And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
Then some men stood up and
testified falsely against Him:
And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither
accuse any
falsely; and be content with your wages.
Then some soldiers asked him, “And what should we do?” “Do not take money by force or
false accusation,” he said. “Be content with your wages.”
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the
false prophets.
Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers treated the
false prophets in the same way.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit
adultery, Do not kill, Do not
steal, Do not bear
false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit
adultery, do not murder, do not
steal, do not bear
false witness, honor your father and mother.’”
And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by
false accusation, I restore him
fourfold.
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have
cheated anyone, I will repay it
fourfold.”
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory, but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is a man of truth; in Him there is no
falsehood.
And set up
false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak
blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
where they presented false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.
And when they had gone through the isle unto
Paphos, they found a certain
sorcerer, a
false prophet, a
Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus:
They traveled through the whole island as far as
Paphos, where they found a Jewish
sorcerer and
false prophet named Bar-Jesus,
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a
sinner?
However, if my
falsehood accentuates God’s truthfulness, to the increase of His glory, why am I still condemned as a
sinner?
For this, Thou shalt not commit
adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not
steal, Thou shalt not bear
false witness, Thou shalt not
covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly
comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself.
Yea, and we are found
false witnesses of God; because we have
testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
In that case, we are also exposed as
false witnesses about God. For we have
testified about God that He raised Christ from the dead, but He did not raise Him if in fact the dead are not raised.
In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
In my frequent journeys, I have been in danger from rivers and from
bandits, in danger from my countrymen and from the Gentiles, in danger in the city and in the country, in danger on the sea and among
false brothers,
And that because of
false brethren unawares brought in, who came in
privily to
spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into
bondage:
This issue arose because some
false brothers had come in under
false pretenses to
spy on our freedom in Christ Jesus, in order to
enslave us.
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
Therefore each of you must put off
falsehood and speak truthfully to his
neighbor, for we are all members of one another.
What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in
pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do
rejoice,
yea, and will
rejoice.
What then is the issue? Just this: that in every way, whether by
false motives or true, Christ is preached. And in this I
rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to
rejoice,
Do not let
anyone who delights in
false humility and the worship of angels
disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a person is
puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.
Which things have indeed a
shew of wisdom in will worship, and
humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Such restrictions indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-prescribed worship, their
false humility, and their harsh treatment of the body; but they are of no value against the
indulgence of the flesh.
Even him, whose coming is after the working of
Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of
Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and
false wonder,
As I
besought thee to
abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
As I urged you on my departure to
Macedonia, you should stay on at Ephesus to
instruct certain men not to teach
false doctrines
O
Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding
profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science
falsely so called:
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh
holiness, not
false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Older women, likewise, are to be
reverent in their
behavior, not slanderers or
addicted to much wine, but teachers of good.
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be
ashamed that
falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
keeping a clear conscience, so that those who
slander you may be put to shame by your good
behavior in Christ.
But there were
false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be
false teachers among you, who
privily shall bring in
damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Now there were also
false prophets among the people, just as there will be
false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive
heresies, even denying the Master who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
In their
greed, these
false teachers will
exploit you with
deceptive words. The longstanding
verdict against them remains in force, and their destruction does not sleep.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy
patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
I know your deeds, your labor, and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate those who are evil, and you have tested and exposed as liars those who
falsely claim to be apostles.
I know thy works, and
tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the
blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the
synagogue of
Satan.
I know your
affliction and your poverty—though you are rich! And I am aware of the
slander of those who
falsely claim to be Jews, but are in fact a
synagogue of
Satan.
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the
dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the
false prophet.
And I saw three unclean spirits that looked like frogs coming out of the mouths of the
dragon, the beast, and the
false prophet.
And the beast was taken, and with him the
false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he
deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone.
But the beast was captured along with the
false prophet, who on its behalf had performed signs
deceiving those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both the beast and the
false prophet were thrown alive into the
fiery lake of burning sulfur.
And the devil that
deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and
brimstone, where the beast and the
false prophet are, and shall be
tormented day and night for ever and ever.
And the devil who had
deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, into which the beast and the
false prophet had already been thrown. There they will be
tormented day and night
forever and ever.
For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and
whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and
everyone who loves and practices
falsehood.
Now therefore deal with me as seemeth best unto thee, and command my spirit to be taken from me, that I may be dissolved, and become earth: for it is profitable for me to die rather than to live, because I have heard
false reproaches, and have much sorrow: command therefore that I may now be delivered out of this distress, and go into the
everlasting place: turn not thy face away from me.
For
insomuch as their trust is in idols, which have no life; though they
swear falsely, yet they look not to be
hurt.
There be three things that mine heart feareth; and for the fourth I was
sore afraid: the
slander of a city, the gathering together of an
unruly multitude, and a
false accusation: all these are worse than death.
The hopes of a man void of understanding are vain and false: and dreams lift up fools.
Of an unclean thing what can be
cleansed? and from that thing which is
false what truth can come?
As for their tongue, it is polished by the
workman, and they themselves are
gilded and laid over with silver; yet are they but
false, and cannot speak.
Whatsoever is done among them is
false: how may it then be thought or said that they are gods?
For seeing they be but of wood, and overlaid with silver and gold, it shall be known
hereafter that they are
false:
Therefore it is better to be a king that sheweth his power, or else a profitable vessel in an house, which the owner shall have use of, than such
false gods; or to be a door in an house, to keep such things therein, than such
false gods. or a
pillar of wood in a a palace, than such
false gods.
Thou knowest that they have borne
false witness against me, and, behold, I must die; whereas I never did such things as these men have
maliciously invented against me.
Return again to the place of judgment: for they have borne false witness against her.
For thou hast pronounced
false judgment and hast condemned the innocent and hast let the guilty go free;
albeit the Lord saith, The innocent and righteous shalt thou not
slay.
And they arose against the two elders, for Daniel had
convicted them of
false witness by their own mouth:
And to
morrow when thou comest in, if thou findest not that
Bel hath eaten up all, we will suffer death: or else Daniel, that speaketh
falsely against us.
Now when there was gone forth a
false rumour, as though
Antiochus had been dead,
Jason took at the least a thousand men, and suddenly made an
assault upon the city; and they that were upon the walls being put back, and the city at length taken,
Menelaus fled into the castle:
And when he had
stirred up their minds, he gave them their charge,
shewing them therewithall the
falsehood of the heathen, and the breach of oaths.
