And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the
fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the
livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth, and
subdue it: and have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and
subdue it; rule over the
fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”
And the fear of you and the
dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the
fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
The fear and
dread of you will fall on every living creature on the earth, every bird of the air, every creature that crawls on the ground, and all the
fish of the sea. They are delivered into your hand.
And the
fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall
stink; and the Egyptians shall
lothe to drink of the water of the river.
The
fish in the Nile will die, the river will
stink, and the Egyptians will be unable to drink its water.’”
And the
fish that was in the river died; and the river
stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. And there was blood throughout the land of Egypt.
We remember the
fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the
garlick:
We remember the
fish we
ate freely in Egypt, along with the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and
garlic.
Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
If all our flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?”
The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
or of any creature that crawls on the ground or fish that is in the waters below.
And he spake of trees, from the
cedar tree that is in
Lebanon even unto the
hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of
creeping things, and of
fishes.
He spoke of trees, from the
cedar in
Lebanon to the
hyssop growing in the wall, and he taught about animals, birds, reptiles, and
fish.
Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of
Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the
fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the
fenced cities of Judah.
After this,
Manasseh rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David from west of
Gihon in the valley to the entrance of the
Fish Gate, and he brought it around the hill of Ophel and
heightened it considerably. He also stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities of Judah.
But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build, who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.
The
Fish Gate was rebuilt by the sons of Hassenaah. They laid its beams and
installed its doors, bolts, and bars.
And from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the prison gate.
over the Gate of Ephraim, the Jeshanah Gate, the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel, and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate. And they stopped at the Gate of the Guard.
There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
Additionally, men of Tyre who lived there were importing
fish and all kinds of
merchandise and selling them on the Sabbath to the people of Judah in Jerusalem.
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; let the fish of the sea inform you.
Canst thou fill his skin with
barbed irons? or his head with
fish spears?
Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears?
The fowl of the air, and the
fish of the sea, and
whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
the birds of the air and the
fish of the sea, all that
swim the paths of the seas.
He turned their waters into blood, and
slew their
fish.
He turned their waters to blood and caused their fish to die.
For man also knoweth not his time: as the
fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the
snare; so are the sons of men
snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
For surely no man knows his time: Like
fish caught in a cruel net or birds
trapped in a
snare, so men are ensnared in an evil time that suddenly falls upon them.
Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the
fishpools in
Heshbon, by the gate of Bath-rabbim: thy nose is as the tower of
Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus.
Your neck is like a tower made of ivory; your eyes are like the pools of
Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim; your nose is like the tower of
Lebanon, facing toward Damascus.
The
fishers also shall
mourn, and all they that cast angle into the
brooks shall
lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall
languish.
Then the
fishermen will
mourn, all who cast a hook into the Nile will
lament, and those who spread nets on the waters will pine away.
And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.
The workers in cloth will be
dejected, and all the
hired workers will be sick at heart.
Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand
shortened at all, that it cannot
redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my
rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their
fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for
thirst.
Why was no one there when I arrived? Why did no one answer when I called? Is My hand too short to
redeem you? Or do I lack the strength to deliver you? Behold, My
rebuke dries up the sea; I turn the rivers into a desert; the
fish rot for lack of water and die of
thirst.
Behold, I will send for many
fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall
fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall
hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
But for now I will send for many
fishermen, declares the LORD, and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters, and they will
hunt them down on every mountain and hill, even from the clefts of the rocks.
And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread the fishing nets. You will never be rebuilt, for I, the LORD, have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.’
But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales.
But I will put hooks in your jaws and cause the
fish of your streams to
cling to your scales. I will
haul you up out of your rivers, and all the
fish of your streams will
cling to your scales.
And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven.
I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and will not be taken away or gathered for burial. I have given you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air.
So that the
fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all
creeping things that
creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall
shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
The
fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that crawls upon the ground, and all mankind on the face of the earth will
tremble at My presence. The mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will
collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.
And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth,
whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of
fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be
healed; and every thing shall live
whither the river cometh.
Wherever the river flows, there will be swarms of living creatures and a great number of
fish, because it flows there and makes the waters fresh; so wherever the river flows, everything will
flourish.
And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
Fishermen will stand by the shore; from En-gedi to En-eglaim they will spread their nets to catch
fish of many kinds, like the
fish of the Great Sea.
Therefore shall the land
mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall
languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven;
yea, the
fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea disappear.
The Lord GOD hath
sworn by his
holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your
posterity with
fishhooks.
The Lord GOD has
sworn by His
holiness: “Behold, the days are coming when you will be taken away with hooks, and your
posterity with
fishhooks.
Now the LORD had prepared a great
fish to
swallow up
Jonah. And
Jonah was in the
belly of the
fish three days and three nights.
Now the LORD had appointed a great
fish to
swallow Jonah, and
Jonah spent three days and three nights in the
belly of the
fish.
Then
Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the
fish’s
belly,
From inside the
fish,
Jonah prayed to the LORD his God,
And the LORD spake unto the
fish, and it
vomited out
Jonah upon the dry land.
And makest men as the
fishes of the sea, as the
creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
You have made men like the
fish of the sea, like
creeping things that have no ruler.
They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their
drag: therefore they
rejoice and are
glad.
The
foe pulls all of them up with a hook; he catches them in his
dragnet, and gathers them in his
fishing net; so he rejoices
gladly.
Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their
drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat
plenteous.
Therefore he sacrifices to his
dragnet and burns incense to his
fishing net, for by these things his portion is
sumptuous and his food is rich.
I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the
fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the birds of the air, and the
fish of the sea, and the idols with their wicked worshipers. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the
fish gate, and an
howling from the second, and a great
crashing from the hills.
On that day,” declares the LORD, “a cry will go up from the
Fish Gate, a
wail from the Second District, and a loud
crashing from the hills.
And Jesus, walking by the sea of
Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were
fishers.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
Or if he asks for a
fish, will give him a
snake?
For as
Jonas was three days and three nights in the
whale’s
belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
For as
Jonah was three days and three nights in the
belly of the great
fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was cast into the sea and caught all kinds of fish.
Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
When it was full, the men pulled it
ashore. Then they sat down and sorted the good
fish into containers, but threw the bad away.
And they say unto him, We have here but five
loaves, and two
fishes.
“We have here only five
loaves of bread and two
fish,” they answered.
And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five
loaves, and the two
fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and
brake, and gave the
loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five
loaves and the two
fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the
loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
And Jesus saith unto them, How many
loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little
fishes.
“How many
loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied, “and a few small
fish.”
And he took the seven
loaves and the
fishes, and gave
thanks, and
brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
Taking the seven
loaves and the
fish, He gave
thanks and broke them. Then He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.
Notwithstanding, lest we should
offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the
fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
“But so that we may not
offend them, go to the sea, cast a hook, and take the first
fish you catch. When you open its mouth, you will find a four-
drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours.”
Now as he walked by the sea of
Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were
fishers.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of
Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were
fishermen.
And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
He saith unto them, How many
loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two
fishes.
“Go and see how many
loaves you have,” He told them. And after checking, they said, “Five—and two
fish.”
And when he had taken the five
loaves and the two
fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and
brake the
loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two
fishes divided he among them all.
Taking the five
loaves and the two
fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus spoke a blessing and broke the
loaves. Then He gave them to His disciples to set before the people. And He divided the two
fish among them all.
And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
and the disciples
picked up twelve
basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and
fish.
And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
They also had a few small fish, and Jesus blessed them and ordered that these be set before them as well.
And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the
fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
He saw two boats at the edge of the lake. The
fishermen had left them and were washing their nets.
And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of
fishes: and their net
brake.
When they had done so, they caught such a large number of
fish that their nets began to
tear.
For he was
astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the
fishes which they had taken:
For he and his companions were
astonished at the catch of
fish they had taken,
But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five
loaves and two
fishes; except we should go and
buy meat for all this people.
But Jesus told them, “You give them something to eat.” “We have only five
loaves of bread and two
fish,” they answered, “unless we go and
buy food for all these people.”
Then he took the five
loaves and the two
fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and
brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
Taking the five
loaves and the two
fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus spoke a blessing and broke them. Then He gave them to the disciples to set before the people.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
What father among you, if his son asks for a
fish, will give him a
snake instead?
So they gave Him a piece of
broiled fish,
There is a
lad here, which hath five barley
loaves, and two small
fishes: but what are they among so many?
“Here is a boy with five barley
loaves and two small
fish. But what difference will these make among so many?”
And Jesus took the
loaves; and when he had given
thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the
fishes as much as they would.
Then Jesus took the
loaves and the
fish, gave
thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted.
Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
Simon Peter told them, “I am going fishing.” “We will go with you,” they said. So they went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.
Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
So He called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” “No,” they answered.
And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to
haul it in because of the great number of
fish.
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he
girt his
fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it) and
jumped into the sea.
And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,)
dragging the net with
fishes.
The other disciples came
ashore in the boat. They
dragged in the net full of
fish, for they were not far from land, only about a hundred yards.
As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and
fish laid
thereon, and bread.
When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish on it, and some bread.
Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.
Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”
Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, and hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
So Simon Peter went
aboard and
dragged the net
ashore. It was full of large
fish, 153, but even with so many, the net was not
torn.
Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and He did the same with the fish.
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another.
And the Sodomitish sea shall cast out fish, and make a noise in the night, which many have not known: but they shall all hear the voice thereof.
Upon the fifth day thou saidst unto the seventh part, where the waters were gathered that it should bring forth living creatures, fowls and fishes: and so it came to pass.
The earth quaketh, and the foundations thereof; the sea ariseth up with waves from the deep, and the waves of it are troubled, and the fishes thereof also, before the Lord, and before the glory of his power:
And when the young man went down to wash himself, a
fish leaped out of the river, and would have
devoured him.
Then the angel said unto him, Take the fish. And the young man laid hold of the fish, and drew it to land.
To whom the angel said, Open the fish, and take the heart and the liver and the gall, and put them up safely.
So the young man did as the angel commanded him; and when they had
roasted the
fish, they did eat it: then they both went on their way, till they drew near to Ecbatane.
Then the young man said to the angel, Brother Azarias, to what use is the heart and the liver and the gal of the fish?
And when thou shalt come into the marriage chamber, thou shalt take the ashes of
perfume, and shalt lay upon them some of the heart and liver of the
fish, and shalt make a smoke with it:
And as he went, he remembered the words of Raphael, and took the ashes of the perfumes, and put the heart and the liver of the
fish thereupon, and made a smoke
therewith.
And take in thine hand the gall of the fish. So they went their way, and the dog went after them.
For they were yet mindful of the things that were done while they
sojourned in the strange land, how the ground brought forth
flies instead of cattle, and how the river cast up a multitude of frogs instead of
fishes.
