And the priest shall make an
atonement for him with the ram of the
trespass offering before the LORD
for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be
forgiven him.
The priest shall make
atonement on his behalf before the LORD with the ram of the guilt offering
for the sin he has committed, and he will be
forgiven the sin he has committed.
And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees
for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as
uncircumcised: three years shall it be as
uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
When you enter the land and plant any kind of tree for food, you shall regard the fruit as forbidden. For three years it will be forbidden to you and must not be eaten.
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
You must not make any cuts in your bodies
for the dead or put
tattoo marks on
yourselves. I am the LORD.
Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
You must keep My Sabbaths and have reverence for My sanctuary. I am the LORD.
And if a stranger
sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not
vex him.
When a
foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not
oppress him.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as
thyself;
for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
You must treat the
foreigner living among you as native-born and love him as
yourself,
for you were
foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel,
Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto
Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Any
Israelite or
foreigner living in Israel who gives any of his children to
Molech must be put to death. The people of the land are to stone him.
For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath
cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.
If
anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has
cursed his father or mother; his blood shall be upon him.
And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister:
for he uncovereth his near
kin: they shall bear their iniquity.
You must not have sexual relations with the sister of your mother or your father,
for it is
exposing one’s own
kin; both shall bear their iniquity.
And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you:
for they committed all these things, and therefore I
abhorred them.
You must not follow the statutes of the nations I am driving out before you. Because they did all these things, I
abhorred them.
Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls
abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.
You are therefore to distinguish between clean and unclean animals and birds. Do not become
contaminated by any animal or bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground; I have set these apart as unclean
for you.
And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
You are to be holy to Me because I, the LORD, am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be My own.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be
defiled for the dead among his people:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron’s sons, the priests, and tell them that a priest is not to
defile himself
for a dead person among his people,
But
for his
kin, that is near unto him, that is,
for his mother, and
for his father, and
for his son, and
for his daughter, and
for his brother,
except for his immediate family—his mother, father, son, daughter, or brother,
And
for his sister a virgin, that is
nigh unto him, which hath had no husband;
for her may he be
defiled.
or his unmarried sister who is near to him, since she has no husband.
But he shall not
defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to
profane himself.
He is not to
defile himself
for those related to him by marriage, and so
profane himself.
They shall be holy unto their God, and not
profane the name of their God:
for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
They must be holy to their God and not
profane the name of their God. Because they present to the LORD the offerings made by fire, the food of their God, they must be holy.
They shall not take a wife that is a
whore, or
profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband:
for he is holy unto his God.
Thou shalt
sanctify him therefore;
for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee:
for I the LORD, which
sanctify you, am holy.
You are to regard him as holy, since he presents the food of your God. He shall be holy to you, because I the LORD am holy—I who set you apart.
Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor
defile himself
for his father, or
for his mother;
He must not go near any dead body; he must not
defile himself, even
for his father or mother.
Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor
profane the sanctuary of his God;
for the crown of the
anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
Neither shall he
profane his seed among his people:
for I the LORD do
sanctify him.
so that he does not
defile his offspring among his people,
for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.”
Speak unto Aaron, saying,
Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any
blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
“Say to Aaron, ‘For the generations to come, none of your descendants who has a physical defect may approach to offer the food of his God.
No man who has any defect may approach—no man who is blind,
lame, disfigured, or
deformed;
but because he has a defect, he must not go near the
veil or approach the altar, so as not to
desecrate My
sanctuaries.
For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’”
Say unto them,
Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel
hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.
Tell them that
for the generations to come, if any of their descendants in a state of uncleanness approaches the sacred offerings that the Israelites
consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from My presence. I am the LORD.
And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food.
When the sun has set, he will become clean, and then he may eat from the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
They shall therefore keep mine
ordinance, lest they bear sin
for it, and die therefore, if they
profane it: I the LORD do
sanctify them.
The priests must keep My charge, lest they bear the guilt and die because they
profane it. I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of
trespass, when they eat their holy things:
for I the LORD do
sanctify them.
by allowing the people to eat the sacred offerings and thus to bear the punishment for guilt. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”
Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them,
Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his
oblation for all his vows, and
for all his
freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD
for a burnt offering;
“Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites and tell them, ‘Any man of the house of Israel or any
foreign resident who presents a gift
for a burnt offering to the LORD, whether to
fulfill a
vow or as a
freewill offering,
Ye shall offer at your own will a male without
blemish, of the
beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats.
must offer an
unblemished male from the cattle, sheep, or goats in order
for it to be accepted on your behalf.
But
whatsoever hath a
blemish, that shall ye not offer:
for it shall not be acceptable
for you.
You must not present anything with a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
Either a
bullock or a lamb that hath any thing
superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer
for a
freewill offering; but
for a
vow it shall not be accepted.
Neither from a stranger’s hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and
blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted
for you.
Neither you nor a
foreigner shall present food to your God from any such animal. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are
deformed and
flawed.’”
When a
bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought
forth, then it shall be seven days under the
dam; and from the eighth day and
thenceforth it shall be accepted
for an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
“When an ox, a sheep, or a goat is born, it must remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy
convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a day of sacred assembly. You must not do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.
But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy
convocation: ye shall do no
servile work therein.
For seven days you are to present an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the seventh day there shall be a sacred assembly; you must not do any regular work.’”
And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted
for you: on the
morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
And he shall wave the
sheaf before the LORD so that it may be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath.
And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the
sheaf an he lamb without
blemish of the first year
for a burnt offering unto the LORD.
On the day you wave the
sheaf, you shall offer a year-old lamb without
blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD,
And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD
for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an
hin.
along with its grain offering of two-tenths of an
ephah of fine flour mixed with oil—an offering made by fire to the LORD, a pleasing
aroma—and its drink offering of a quarter
hin of wine.
And ye shall eat neither bread, nor
parched corn, nor green ears, until the
selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute
for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
You must not eat any bread or
roasted or new grain until the very day you have brought this offering to your God. This is to be a permanent statute
for the generations to come, wherever you live.
And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without
blemish of the first year, and one young
bullock, and two rams: they shall be
for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.
Along with the bread you are to present seven
unblemished male lambs a year old, one young bull, and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings—an offering made by fire, a pleasing
aroma to the LORD.
Then ye shall sacrifice one
kid of the goats
for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year
for a sacrifice of peace offerings.
You shall also prepare one male goat as a sin offering and two male lambs a year old as a peace offering.
And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the first fruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.
The priest is to wave the lambs as a wave offering before the LORD, together with the bread of the firstfruits. The bread and the two lambs shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.
And ye shall
proclaim on the
selfsame day, that it may be an holy
convocation unto you: ye shall do no
servile work therein: it shall be a statute
for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
On that same day you are to
proclaim a sacred assembly, and you must not do any regular work. This is to be a permanent statute wherever you live
for the generations to come.
And when ye
reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean
riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any
gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.
When you
reap the harvest of your land, do not
reap all the way to the edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them
for the poor and the
foreign resident. I am the LORD your God.’”
And ye shall do no work in that same day:
for it is a day of
atonement, to make an
atonement for you before the LORD your God.
On this day you are not to do any work,
for it is the Day of
Atonement, when
atonement is made
for you before the LORD your God.
For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be
afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
If
anyone does not humble himself on this day, he must be cut off from his people.
Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
You are not to do any work at all. This is a permanent statute for the generations to come, wherever you live.
It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall
afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye
celebrate your sabbath.
It will be a Sabbath of complete rest
for you, and you shall humble
yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to keep your Sabbath.”
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The
fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles
for seven days unto the LORD.
“Speak to the Israelites and say, ‘On the
fifteenth day of the seventh month the Feast of Tabernacles to the LORD begins, and it continues
for seven days.
Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy
convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no
servile work therein.
For seven days you are to present an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you are to hold a sacred assembly and present an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; you must not do any regular work.
These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall
proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:
These are the LORD’s appointed feasts, which you are to
proclaim as sacred
assemblies for presenting offerings by fire to the LORD—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its designated day.
Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your
freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
These offerings are in addition to the offerings
for the LORD’s Sabbaths, and in addition to your gifts, to all your
vow offerings, and to all the
freewill offerings you give to the LORD.
Also in the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
On the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the produce of the land, you are to
celebrate a feast to the LORD
for seven days. There shall be complete rest on the first day and also on the eighth day.
And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the
brook; and ye shall
rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
On the first day you are to gather the fruit of
majestic trees, the branches of palm trees, and the boughs of
leafy trees and of willows of the
brook. And you are to
rejoice before the LORD your God
for seven days.
And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute
for ever in your generations: ye shall
celebrate it in the seventh month.
You are to
celebrate this as a feast to the LORD
for seven days each year. This is a permanent statute
for the generations to come; you are to
celebrate it in the seventh month.
Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
You are to dwell in booths for seven days. All the native-born of Israel must dwell in booths,
Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.
“Command the Israelites to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually.
Without the
vail of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute
for ever in your generations.
Outside the
veil of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps continually before the LORD from evening until morning. This is to be a permanent statute
for the generations to come.
And thou shalt take fine flour, and
bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one
cake.
You are also to take fine flour and
bake twelve
loaves, using two-tenths of an
ephah for each
loaf,
And thou shalt put pure
frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread
for a
memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
And you are to place pure
frankincense near each row, so that it may serve as a
memorial portion
for the bread, an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.
It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in a holy place;
for it is to him a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD—his portion
forever.”
Bring
forth him that hath
cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
“Take the
blasphemer outside the camp, and have all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then have the whole assembly stone him.
And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
Whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD must surely be put to death; the whole assembly must surely stone him, whether he is a
foreign resident or native; if he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death.
And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.
Breach
for breach, eye
for eye, tooth
for tooth: as he hath caused a
blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Just as he injured the other person, the same must be inflicted on him.
Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.
You are to have the same standard of law for the foreign resident and the native; for I am the LORD your God.’”
And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring
forth him that had
cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.
Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the
blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. So the Israelites did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Six years thou shalt
sow thy field, and six years thou shalt
prune thy
vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;
For six years you may
sow your field and
prune your
vineyard and gather its crops.
But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath
for the LORD: thou shalt neither
sow thy field, nor
prune thy
vineyard.
But in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of complete rest
for the land—a Sabbath to the LORD. You are not to
sow your field or
prune your
vineyard.
That which groweth of its own
accord of thy harvest thou shalt not
reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed:
for it is a year of rest unto the land.
You are not to
reap the
aftergrowth of your harvest or gather the grapes of your untended vines. The land must have a year of complete rest.
And the sabbath of the land shall be meat
for you;
for thee, and
for thy servant, and
for thy
maid, and
for thy
hired servant, and
for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,
And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.
and
for your
livestock and the wild animals in your land. All its growth may serve as food.
And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
And you shall count off seven Sabbaths of years—seven times seven years—so that the seven Sabbaths of years amount to forty-nine years.
And ye shall
hallow the
fiftieth year, and
proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
So you are to
consecrate the
fiftieth year and
proclaim liberty in the land
for all its inhabitants. It shall be your
Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his property and to his clan.
A jubile shall that
fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not
sow, neither
reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.
For it is a
Jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You may eat only the crops taken directly from the field.
According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it:
for according to the number of the years of the fruits
doth he sell unto thee.
You shall increase the price in proportion to a greater number of years, or decrease it in proportion to a lesser number of years; for he is selling you a given number of harvests.
Ye shall not therefore
oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God:
for I am the LORD your God.
Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.
Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.
But I will send My blessing upon you in the sixth year, so that the land will yield a crop sufficient for three years.
The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.
The land must not be sold permanently, because it is Mine, and you are but foreigners and residents with Me.
And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a
redemption for the land.
Thus
for every piece of property you possess, you must provide
for the
redemption of the land.
And if the man have none to
redeem it, and himself be able to
redeem it;
Or if a man has no one to
redeem it
for him, but he prospers and acquires enough to
redeem his land,
And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.
If it is not redeemed by the end of a full year, then the house in the walled city is permanently transferred to its
buyer and his descendants. It is not to be released in the
Jubilee.
Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites
redeem at any time.
As
for the cities of the Levites, the Levites always have the right to
redeem their houses in the cities they possess.
And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
So whatever belongs to the Levites may be redeemed—a house sold in a city they possess—and must be released in the
Jubilee, because the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the Israelites.
But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.
But the open pastureland around their cities may not be sold, for this is their permanent possession.
And if thy brother be
waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt
relieve him:
yea, though he be a stranger, or a
sojourner; that he may live with thee.
Now if your
countryman becomes destitute and cannot support himself among you, then you are to help him as you would a
foreigner or stranger, so that he can continue to live among you.
Thou shalt not give him thy money upon
usury, nor
lend him thy
victuals for increase.
You must not
lend him your silver at interest or sell him your food
for profit.
I am the LORD your God, which brought you
forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of
Canaan, and to be your God.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of
Canaan and to be your God.
And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be
waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not
compel him to serve as a
bondservant:
If a
countryman among you becomes destitute and sells himself to you, then you must not
force him into slave labor.
But as an
hired servant, and as a
sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile:
Let him stay with you as a
hired worker or temporary resident; he is to work
for you until the Year of
Jubilee.
For they are my servants, which I brought
forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as
bondmen.
Because the Israelites are My servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt, they are not to be sold as slaves.
Moreover of the children of the strangers that do
sojourn among you, of them shall ye
buy, and of their families that are with you, which they
begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
You may also purchase them from the foreigners residing among you or their clans living among you who are born in your land. These may become your property.
And ye shall take them as an inheritance
for your children after you, to
inherit them
for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as property; you can make them slaves
for life. But as
for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over his brother.
And if a
sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or
sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger’s family:
If a
foreigner residing among you prospers, but your
countryman dwelling near him becomes destitute and sells himself to the
foreigner or to a member of his clan,
If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his
redemption out of the money that he was bought
for.
If many years remain, he must pay
for his
redemption in proportion to his purchase price.
