For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go
forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep still, until her righteousness shines like a bright light, her salvation like a
blazing torch.
Thou shalt no more be termed
Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed
Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-
bah, and thy land Beulah:
for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
No longer will you be called
Forsaken, nor your land named
Desolate; but you will be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah;
for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be His
bride.
For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the
bridegroom rejoiceth over the
bride, so shall thy God
rejoice over thee.
For as a young man marries a young woman, so your sons will marry you; and as a
bridegroom rejoices over his
bride, so your God will
rejoice over you.
I have set
watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have posted
watchmen; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD shall take no rest
for yourselves,
The LORD hath
sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat
for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine,
for the which thou hast laboured:
The LORD has
sworn by His right hand and by His mighty arm: “Never again will I give your grain to your enemies
for food, nor will
foreigners drink the new wine
for which you have
toiled.
But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my
holiness.
For those who harvest grain will eat it and praise the LORD, and those who gather grapes will drink the wine in My holy courts.”
Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the
highways; gather out the stones; lift up a standard
for the people.
Go out, go out through the gates; prepare the way
for the people! Build it up, build up the
highway; clear away the stones; raise a
banner for the nations!
And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not
forsaken.
And they will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of The LORD; and you will be called Sought Out, A City Not
Forsaken.
I have
trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me:
for I will
tread them in mine anger, and
trample them in my
fury; and their blood shall be
sprinkled upon my garments, and I will
stain all my
raiment.
“I have
trodden the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with Me. I
trampled them in My anger and
trod them down in My
fury; their blood
spattered My garments, and all My clothes were
stained.
For the day of
vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his
mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
I will make known the LORD’s loving devotion and His
praiseworthy acts, because of all that the LORD has done
for us— the many good things
for the house of Israel according to His great
compassion and loving devotion.
For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
For He said, “They are surely My people, sons who will not be
disloyal.” So He became their
Savior.
That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an
everlasting name?
who sent His glorious arm to lead them by the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to gain
for Himself
everlasting renown,
As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so
didst thou lead thy people, to make
thyself a glorious name.
Like cattle going down to the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led Your people this way to make
for Yourself a glorious name.
Look down from heaven, and behold from the
habitation of thy
holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy
bowels and of thy
mercies toward me? are they restrained?
Look down from heaven and see, from Your holy and glorious
habitation. Where are Your zeal and might? Your
yearning and
compassion for me are restrained.
O LORD, why hast thou made us to
err from thy ways, and
hardened our heart from thy fear? Return
for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
Why, O LORD, do You make us
stray from Your ways and
harden our hearts from fearing You? Return,
for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your
heritage.
For a short while Your people possessed Your holy place, but our enemies have
trampled Your sanctuary.
When thou
didst terrible things which we looked not
for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.
When You did
awesome works that we did not expect, You came down, and the mountains
trembled at Your presence.
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
From ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art
wroth;
for we have
sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.
You
welcome those who
gladly do right, who remember Your ways. Surely You were
angry,
for we
sinned. How can we be saved if we remain in our sins?
And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee:
for thou hast
hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our
iniquities.
No one calls on Your name or strives to take hold of You. For You have hidden Your face from us and delivered us into the hand of our iniquity.
Be not
wroth very
sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity
for ever: behold, see, we
beseech thee, we are all thy people.
Do not be
angry, O LORD, beyond measure; do not remember our iniquity
forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray; we are all Your people!
After all this, O LORD, will You restrain
Yourself? Will You keep silent and
afflict us beyond measure?
I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
“I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’
Which say, Stand by
thyself, come not near to me;
for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
They say, ‘Keep to
yourself; do not come near me,
for I am holier than you!’ Such people are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all day long.
Your
iniquities, and the
iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and
blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their
former work into their
bosom.
both
for your
iniquities and
for those of your fathers,” says the LORD. “Because they burned incense on the mountains and
scorned Me on the hills, I will measure into their laps full payment
for their
former deeds.”
Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the
cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not;
for a blessing is in it: so will I do
for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
This is what the LORD says: “As the new wine is found in a
cluster of grapes, and men say, ‘Do not destroy it,
for it contains a blessing,’ so I will act on behalf of My servants; I will not destroy them all.
And I will bring
forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an
inheritor of my mountains: and mine
elect shall
inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And I will bring
forth descendants from Jacob, and heirs from Judah; My
elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there.
And
Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of
Achor a place
for the herds to lie down in,
for my people that have sought me.
Sharon will become a pasture
for flocks, and the Valley of
Achor a resting place
for herds,
for My people who seek Me.
But ye are they that
forsake the LORD, that
forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table
for that
troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.
But you who
forsake the LORD, who
forget My holy mountain, who set a table
for Fortune and fill
bowls of mixed wine
for Destiny,
Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
I will
destine you
for the sword, and you will all
kneel down to be slaughtered, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not
listen; you did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.”
Behold, my servants shall sing
for joy of heart, but ye shall cry
for sorrow of heart, and shall
howl for vexation of spirit.
My servants will
shout for joy with a
glad heart, but you will cry out with a heavy heart and
wail with a broken spirit.
And ye shall leave your name
for a
curse unto my chosen:
for the Lord GOD shall
slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
You will leave behind your name as a
curse for My chosen ones, and the Lord GOD will
slay you; but to His servants He will give another name.
That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall
bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall
swear by the God of truth; because the
former troubles are
forgotten, and because they are
hid from mine eyes.
Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth, and
whoever takes an oath in the land will
swear by the God of truth.
For the
former troubles will be
forgotten and hidden from My sight.
For, behold, I
create new heavens and a new earth: and the
former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
For behold, I will
create new heavens and a new earth. The
former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days:
for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the
sinner being an hundred years old shall be
accursed.
No longer will a
nursing infant live but a few days, or an old man fail to live out his years.
For the youth will die at a hundred years, and he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered
accursed.
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat:
for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine
elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
No longer will they build houses for others to inhabit, nor plant for others to eat. For as is the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people, and My chosen ones will fully enjoy the work of their hands.
They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
They will not labor in vain or bear children
doomed to
disaster;
for they will be a people blessed by the LORD— they and their descendants with them.
Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my
footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?
This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is My throne, and earth is My
footstool. What kind of house will you build
for Me? Or where will My place of
repose be?
For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a
contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
Has not My hand made all these things? And so they came into being,” declares the LORD. “This is the one I will esteem: he who is humble and
contrite in spirit, who trembles at My word.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that
tremble at his word; your brethren that
hated you, that cast you out
for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be
glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be
ashamed.
You who
tremble at His word, hear the word of the LORD: “Your brothers who
hate you and
exclude you because of My name have said, ‘Let the LORD be
glorified that we may see your joy!’ But they will be put to shame.”
Before she
travailed, she brought
forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.
“Before she was in labor, she gave birth; before she was in pain, she delivered a boy.
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring
forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once?
for as soon as
Zion travailed, she brought
forth her children.
Who has heard of such as this? Who has seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be delivered in an instant? Yet as soon as
Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring
forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring
forth, and shut the
womb? saith thy God.
Shall I bring a
baby to the point of birth and not deliver it?” says the LORD. “Or will I who deliver close the
womb?” says your God.
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be
glad with her, all ye that love her:
rejoice for joy with her, all ye that
mourn for her:
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye
suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be
dandled upon her knees.
For this is what the LORD says: “I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flowing stream; you will
nurse and be carried on her arm, and
bounced upon her knees.
For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his
chariots like a
whirlwind, to render his anger with
fury, and his
rebuke with flames of fire.
For by fire and by his sword will the LORD
plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
For by fire and by His sword, the LORD will
execute judgment on all flesh, and many will be slain by the LORD.
For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
“And I, knowing their deeds and thoughts, am coming to gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see My glory.
And they shall bring all your brethren
for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD.
“And I will select some of them as priests and Levites,” says the LORD.
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
“
For just as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, will
endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “so your descendants and your name will
endure.
And they shall go
forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have
transgressed against me:
for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be
quenched; and they shall be an
abhorring unto all flesh.
“As they go
forth, they will see the corpses of the men who have rebelled against Me;
for their worm will never die, their fire will never be
quenched, and they will be a
horror to all mankind.”
Before I
formed thee in the
belly I knew thee; and before thou camest
forth out of the
womb I
sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
“Before I
formed you in the
womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Then said I,
Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak:
for I am a child.
“
Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I surely do not know how to speak,
for I am only a child!”
But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child:
for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and
whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
But the LORD told me: “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’
For to
everyone I send you, you must go, and all that I command you, you must speak.
Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
Then the LORD reached out His hand, touched my mouth, and said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen:
for I will
hasten my word to perform it.
“You have observed correctly,” said the LORD, “
for I am watching over My word to
accomplish it.”
Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
Then the LORD said to me, “
Disaster from the north will be poured out on all who live in the land.
For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
For I am about to
summon all the clans and kingdoms of the north,” declares the LORD. “Their kings will come and set up their thrones at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem. They will attack all her surrounding walls and all the other cities of Judah.
And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have
forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
I will
pronounce My judgments against them
for all their wickedness, because they have
forsaken Me to burn incense to other gods and to worship the works of their own hands.
For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron
pillar, and
brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
Now behold, this day I have made you like a
fortified city, an iron
pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.
And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
They will fight against you but will never overcome you, since I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
For pass over the isles of
Chittim, and see; and send unto
Kedar, and consider
diligently, and see if there be such a thing.
Cross over to the coasts of
Cyprus and take a look; send to
Kedar and consider carefully; see if there has ever been anything like this:
Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory
for that which
doth not profit.
Has a nation ever changed its gods, though they are no gods at all? Yet My people have exchanged their Glory for useless idols.
For my people have committed two evils; they have
forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and
hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
“
For My people have committed two evils: They have
forsaken Me, the fountain of living water, and they have
dug their own cisterns— broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
Hast thou not procured this unto
thyself, in that thou hast
forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
Have you not brought this on
yourself by
forsaking the LORD your God when He led you in the way?
Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast
forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Your own evil will discipline you; your own
apostasies will
reprimand you. Consider and
realize how evil and bitter it is
for you to
forsake the LORD your God and to have no fear of Me,” declares the Lord GOD of Hosts.
For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and
burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not
transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the
harlot.
“
For long ago you broke your yoke and
tore off your chains, saying, ‘I will not serve!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every green tree you lay down as a
prostitute.
For though thou wash thee with
nitre, and take thee much
sope, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.
Although you wash with
lye and use an abundance of soap, the
stain of your guilt is still before Me,” declares the Lord GOD.
Withhold thy foot from being
unshod, and thy throat from
thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no;
for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
You should have kept your feet from going bare and your throat from being
thirsty. But you said, ‘It is hopeless!
For I love
foreign gods, and I must go after them.’
Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.
say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’
For they have turned their backs to Me and not their faces, yet in the time of trouble they
beg, ‘Rise up and save us!’
But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.
But where are the gods you made
for yourselves? Let them rise up in your time of trouble and save you if they can;
for your gods are as numerous as your cities, O Judah.
Can a
maid forget her ornaments, or a
bride her
attire? yet my people have
forgotten me days without number.
Yea, thou shalt go
forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head:
for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not
prosper in them.
Moreover, you will leave that place with your hands on your head,
for the LORD has rejected those you trust; you will not
prosper by their help.”
Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been
lien with. In the ways hast thou sat
for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast
polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
“Lift up your eyes to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been
violated? You sat beside the
highways waiting
for your lovers, like a
nomad in the desert. You have
defiled the land with your
prostitution and wickedness.
Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.
Will He be
angry forever? Will He be
indignant to the end?’ This you have spoken, but you keep doing all the evil you can.”
And I saw, when
for all the causes whereby
backsliding Israel committed
adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of
divorce; yet her
treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the
harlot also.
She saw that because faithless Israel had committed
adultery, I gave her a
certificate of
divorce and sent her away. Yet that unfaithful sister Judah had no fear and
prostituted herself as well.
And yet
for all this her
treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but
feignedly, saith the LORD.
Yet in spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return to Me with all her heart, but only in pretense,” declares the LORD.
Go and
proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou
backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you:
for I am
merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger
for ever.
Go,
proclaim this message toward the north: ‘Return, O faithless Israel,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will no longer look on you with anger,
for I am
merciful,’ declares the LORD. ‘I will not be
angry forever.
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast
transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
Only acknowledge your guilt, that you have rebelled against the LORD your God. You have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every green tree and have not obeyed My voice,’” declares the LORD.
Turn, O
backsliding children, saith the LORD;
for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to
Zion:
“Return, O faithless children,” declares the LORD, “
for I am your master, and I will take you—one from a city and two from a family—and bring you to
Zion.
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave to your fathers as an inheritance.
A voice was heard upon the high places,
weeping and supplications of the children of Israel:
for they have
perverted their way, and they have
forgotten the LORD their God.
A voice is heard on the barren heights, the children of Israel
weeping and
begging for mercy, because they have
perverted their ways and
forgotten the LORD their God.
Return, ye
backsliding children, and I will
heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee;
for thou art the LORD our God.
“Return, O faithless children, and I will
heal your
faithlessness.” “Here we are. We come to You,
for You are the LORD our God.
Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.
Surely
deception comes from the hills, and
commotion from the mountains. Surely the salvation of Israel is in the LORD our God.
For shame hath
devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
From our youth, that shameful god has consumed what our fathers have worked for— their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us:
for we have
sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have
sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers; from our youth even to this day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your
fallow ground, and
sow not among thorns.
For this is what the LORD says to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your
unplowed ground, and do not
sow among the thorns.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the
foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my
fury come
forth like fire, and burn that none can
quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and remove the
foreskins of your hearts, O men of Judah and people of Jerusalem. Otherwise, My wrath will break out like fire and burn with no one to
extinguish it, because of your evil deeds.”
Declare ye in Judah, and
publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the
trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say,
Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
Set up the standard toward
Zion: retire, stay not:
for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Raise a signal flag toward
Zion. Seek refuge! Do not delay!
For I am bringing
disaster from the north, and terrible destruction.
The lion is come up from his
thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone
forth from his place to make thy land
desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
A lion has gone up from his
thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his
lair to lay waste your land. Your cities will be reduced to ruins and lie uninhabited.
So put on
sackcloth,
mourn and
wail,
for the fierce anger of the LORD has not turned away from us.”
Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
a wind too strong
for that comes from Me. Now I also
pronounce judgments against them.”
Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his
chariots shall be as a
whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles.
Woe unto us!
for we are
spoiled.
Behold, he advances like the clouds, his
chariots like the
whirlwind. His horses are swifter than eagles.
Woe to us,
for we are ruined!
For a voice declareth from
Dan, and publisheth
affliction from mount Ephraim.
