And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
Then join them together into one stick, so that they become one in your hand.
Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel associated with him, and I will put them together with the stick of Judah. I will make them into a single stick, and they will become one in My hand.’
And the sticks
whereon thou writest shall be in thine
hand before their eyes.
When the sticks on which you write are in your hand and in full view of the people,
And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and
horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them
handling swords:
I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws, and bring you out with all your army—your horses, your
horsemen in full
armor, and a great company armed with shields and bucklers, all
brandishing their swords.
To take a
spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine
hand upon the
desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have
gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
in order to seize the
spoil and carry off the
plunder, to turn a
hand against the
desolate places now inhabited and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired
livestock and possessions and who live at the center of the land.’
And I will
smite thy bow out of thy left
hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right
hand.
Then I will strike the bow from your left
hand and
dash down the arrows from your right
hand.
And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out,
kindle fires, and burn up the weapons—the bucklers and shields, the bows and arrows, the clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel.
And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
I will display My glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the judgment that I
execute and the
hand that I lay upon them.
And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they
trespassed against me, therefore
hid I my face from them, and gave them into the
hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their iniquity, because they were unfaithful to Me. So I
hid My face from them and delivered them into the
hands of their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.
In the five and
twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the
fourteenth year after that the city was
smitten, in the
selfsame day the
hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me thither.
In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth day of the month—in the
fourteenth year after Jerusalem had been struck down—on that very day the
hand of the LORD was upon me, and He took me there.
And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.
So He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze. He was standing in the
gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his
hand.
And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s
hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the
cubit and an
hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
And I saw a wall surrounding the temple area. Now the length of the measuring rod in the man’s
hand was six long cubits (each measuring a
cubit and a
handbreadth), and he measured the wall to be one rod thick and one rod high.
And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.
The double-
pronged hooks, each a
handbreadth long, were fastened all around the inside of the room, and the flesh of the offering was to be placed on the tables.
And these are the measures of the altar after the cubits: The
cubit is a
cubit and an
hand breadth; even the bottom shall be a
cubit, and the breadth a
cubit, and the border thereof by the edge thereof round about shall be a span: and this shall be the higher place of the altar.
These are the measurements of the altar in long cubits (a
cubit and a
handbreadth): Its
gutter shall be a
cubit deep and a
cubit wide, with a
rim of one span around its edge. And this is the height of the altar:
Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity.
Because they ministered before their idols and became a
stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I
swore with an
uplifted hand concerning them that they would bear the consequences of their iniquity, declares the Lord GOD.
And he shall prepare a meat offering, an
ephah for a
bullock, and an
ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his
hand shall attain unto, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
He is to provide a grain offering of an
ephah with the bull, an
ephah with the ram, and as much as he is able with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ancles.
As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his
hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and led me through
ankle-deep water.
And ye shall
inherit it, one as well as another: concerning the which I lifted up mine
hand to give it unto your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for inheritance.
You are to divide it equally among them. Because I
swore with an
uplifted hand to give it to your forefathers, this land will fall to you as an inheritance.
And the Lord gave
Jehoiakim king of Judah into his
hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of
Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the
treasure house of his god.
And the Lord delivered into his
hand Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with some of the articles from the house of God. He carried these off to the land of
Shinar, to the house of his god, where he put them in the treasury of his god.
Children in whom was no
blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and
cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
young men without
blemish,
handsome, gifted in all wisdom, knowledgeable, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace—and to teach them the language and literature of the Chaldeans.
Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without
hands, which
smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and
brake them to pieces.
As you watched, a stone was cut out, but not by human
hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and
crushed them.
And
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine
hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
Wherever the sons of men or beasts of the field or birds of the air dwell, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without
hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut out of the mountain without human
hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my
hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my
hands?”
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine
hand, O king.
If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the
blazing fiery furnace and from your
hand, O king.
And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
All the peoples of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. There is no one who can restrain His hand or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’”
In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s
hand, and wrote over against the
candlestick upon the
plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the
hand that wrote.
At that moment the fingers of a human
hand appeared and wrote on the
plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. As the king watched the
hand that was writing,
But hast lifted up
thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have
drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose
hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not
glorified:
Instead, you have
exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. The vessels from His house were brought to you, and as you
drank wine from them with your nobles, wives, and concubines, you praised your gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you have failed to
glorify the God who holds in His
hand your very breath and all your ways.
Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
Therefore He sent the hand that wrote the inscription.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
He will speak out against the Most High and
oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the appointed times and laws; and the saints will be given into his
hand for a time, and times, and half a time.
I saw the ram
pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his
hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
I saw the ram charging toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no
deliverance from his power. He did as he pleased and became great.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his
hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his power.
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to
prosper in his
hand; and he shall
magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without
hand.
Through his craft and by his
hand, he will cause
deceit to
prosper, and in his own mind he will make himself great. In a time of peace he will destroy many, and he will even stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be broken off, but not by human
hands.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty
hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty
hand, and who made for
Yourself a name
renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted wickedly.
And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
Suddenly, a
hand touched me and set me
trembling on my
hands and knees.
And the king of the south shall be moved with
choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his
hand.
In a
rage, the king of the South will march out to fight the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be delivered into the
hand of his enemy.
But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
The
invader will do as he pleases, and no one will stand against him. He will establish himself in the Beautiful Land, with destruction in his
hand.
He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his
hand, even
Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of
Ammon.
He will also
invade the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall. But these will be delivered from his
hand:
Edom, Moab, and the leaders of the
Ammonites.
He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
He will extend his power over many countries, and not even the land of Egypt will escape.
And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right
hand and his left
hand unto heaven, and
sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to
scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
And the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, raised his right
hand and his left
hand toward heaven, and I heard him
swear by Him who lives
forever, saying, “It will be for a time, and times, and half a time. When the power of the holy people has finally been
shattered, all these things will be completed.”
And now will I discover her
lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine
hand.
And then I will
expose her
lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of My
hands.
In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.
The princes are inflamed with wine on the day of our king; so he joins
hands with those who
mock him.
He is a merchant, the balances of
deceit are in his
hand: he loveth to
oppress.
Asshur shall not save us; we will not
ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our
hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
Assyria will not save us, nor will we
ride on horses. We will never again say, ‘Our gods!’ to the work of our own
hands. For in You the fatherless find
compassion.”
Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at
hand, and as a destruction from the
Almighty shall it come.
Alas for the day! For the Day of the LORD is near, and it will come as destruction from the
Almighty.
Blow ye the
trumpet in
Zion, and sound an
alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land
tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is
nigh at
hand;
Blow the ram’s horn in
Zion; sound the
alarm on My holy mountain! Let all who dwell in the land
tremble, for the Day of the LORD is coming; indeed, it is near—
And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Even on My menservants and maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the
hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the
Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
I will sell your sons and daughters into the
hands of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the
Sabeans—to a distant nation.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
And I will cut off the inhabitant from
Ashdod, and him that holdeth the
sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine
hand against
Ekron: and the
remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.
I will cut off the ruler of
Ashdod and the one who wields the
scepter in Ashkelon. I will turn My
hand against
Ekron, and the
remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord GOD.
Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.
The archer will not stand his ground, the fleet of foot will not escape, and the
horseman will not save his life.
As if a man did
flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and
leaned his
hand on the wall, and a serpent
bit him.
It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to
encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his
hand against the wall, only to be
bitten by a
snake.
Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to
plumb, with a
plumb line in His
hand.
Though they
dig into
hell, thence shall mine
hand take them; though they
climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
Though they
dig down to
Sheol, from there My
hand will take them; and though they
climb up to heaven, from there I will pull them down.
Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their
calamity;
yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their
affliction in the day of their
calamity, nor have laid
hands on their substance in the day of their
calamity;
But let man and beast be covered with
sackcloth, and cry
mightily unto God:
yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their
hands.
Furthermore, let both man and beast be covered with
sackcloth, and have
everyone call out earnestly to God. Let each one turn from his evil ways and from the violence in his
hands.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right
hand and their left
hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not care about the great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right
hand from their left, and many cattle as well?”
Woe to them that
devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they
practise it, because it is in the power of their
hand.
Woe to those who
devise iniquity and plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they
accomplish it because the power is in their
hands.
Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of
Zion, like a woman in
travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall
redeem thee from the
hand of thine enemies.
Writhe in
agony, O Daughter of
Zion, like a woman in labor. For now you will leave the city and camp in the open fields. You will go to Babylon; there you will be
rescued; there the LORD will
redeem you from the
hand of your enemies!
Thine
hand shall be lifted up upon thine
adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
Your hand will be lifted over your foes, and all your enemies will be cut off.
And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
I will cut the
sorceries from your
hand, and you will have no fortune-tellers.
Thy
graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine
hands.
I will also cut off the carved images and sacred pillars from among you, so that you will no longer bow down to the work of your own hands.
That they may do evil with both
hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his
mischievous desire: so they
wrap it up.
Both
hands are skilled at evil; the prince and the judge demand a
bribe. When the powerful utters his evil desire, they all
conspire together.
The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their
hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be
deaf.
Nations will see and be
ashamed, deprived of all their might. They will put their
hands over their mouths, and their ears will become
deaf.
There is no
healing of thy
bruise; thy wound is
grievous: all that hear the
bruit of thee shall
clap the
hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
There is no
healing for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news of you
applaud your
downfall, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
Woe to him that coveteth an evil
covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
Woe to him who builds his house by unjust gain, to place his nest on high and escape the
hand of
disaster!
Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy
foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD’S right
hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful
spewing shall be on thy glory.
You will be filled with shame instead of glory. You too must drink and
expose your
uncircumcision! The cup in the LORD’s right
hand will come around to you, and utter disgrace will cover your glory.
And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
The mountains saw thee, and they
trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his
hands on high.
The mountains saw You and
quaked; torrents of water swept by. The deep
roared with its voice and lifted its
hands on high.
I will also stretch out mine
hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the
remnant of
Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
“I will stretch out My
hand against Judah and against all who dwell in Jerusalem. I will cut off from this place every
remnant of
Baal, the names of the
idolatrous and pagan priests—
Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at
hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath
bid his guests.
Be silent in the presence of the Lord GOD, for the Day of the LORD is near. Indeed, the LORD has prepared a sacrifice; He has consecrated His guests.
And he will stretch out his
hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make
Nineveh a
desolation, and dry like a wilderness.
And He will stretch out His
hand against the north and destroy Assyria; He will make
Nineveh a
desolation, as dry as a desert.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his
hand.
This carefree city that dwells securely, that thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to
Zion, Let not thine
hands be
slack.
On that day they will say to Jerusalem: “Do not fear, O
Zion; do not let your
hands fall
limp.
And I called for a
drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the
hands.
I have summoned a
drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the labor of your
hands.”
Then answered
Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their
hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.
Then
Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their
hands; whatever they offer there is
defiled.
I
smote you with blasting and with
mildew and with
hail in all the labours of your
hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.
I struck you—all the work of your
hands—with
blight,
mildew, and
hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
Then I lifted up my eyes and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.
For, behold, I will
shake mine
hand upon them, and they shall be a
spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
I will surely wave My
hand over them, so that they will become
plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me.”
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and
Satan standing at his right
hand to resist him.
Then the angel showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, with
Satan standing at his right
hand to
accuse him.
The
hands of
Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his
hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
“The
hands of
Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his
hands will complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.
For who hath
despised the day of small things? for they shall
rejoice, and shall see the
plummet in the
hand of
Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and
fro through the whole earth.
For who has
despised the day of small things? But these seven eyes of the LORD, which
scan the whole earth, will
rejoice when they see the
plumb line in the
hand of
Zerubbabel.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Old men and old women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of great age.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words spoken by the prophets who were present when the foundations were laid to rebuild the temple, the house of the LORD of Hosts.
And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a
curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your
hands be strong.
As you have been a
curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid; let your
hands be strong.”
For I will no more
pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour’s
hand, and into the
hand of his king: and they shall
smite the land, and out of their
hand I will not deliver them.
For I will no longer have
compassion on the people of the land, declares the LORD, but behold, I will cause each man to fall into the
hands of his
neighbor and his king, who will
devastate the land, and I will not deliver it from their
hands.”
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an
hearth of fire among the wood, and like a
torch of fire in a
sheaf; and they shall
devour all the people round about, on the right
hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.
On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a
firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming
torch among the
sheaves; they will
consume all the peoples around them on the right and on the left, while the people of Jerusalem remain secure there.
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
If someone asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your chest?’ he will answer, ‘These are the wounds I received in the house of my friends.’
Awake, O sword, against my
shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts:
smite the
shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine
hand upon the little ones.
Awake, O sword, against My
Shepherd, against the man who is My Companion, declares the LORD of Hosts. Strike the
Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn My
hand against the little ones.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great
tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the
hand of his neighbour, and his
hand shall rise up against the
hand of his neighbour.
On that day a great
panic from the LORD will come upon them, so that each will seize the
hand of another, and the
hand of one will rise against the other.
And now, I pray you,
beseech God that he will be
gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
“But ask now for God’s favor. Will He be
gracious? Since this has come from your
hands, will He show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for
nought? neither do ye
kindle fire on mine altar for
nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your
hand.
“Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would no longer
kindle useless fires on My altar! I take no pleasure in you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I will accept no offering from your
hands.
Ye said also, Behold, what a
weariness is it! and ye have
snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was
torn, and the
lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your
hand? saith the LORD.
You also say: ‘Oh, what a
nuisance!’ And you turn up your nose at it,” says the LORD of Hosts. “You bring offerings that are
stolen,
lame, or sick! Should I accept these from your
hands?” asks the LORD.
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping, and with crying out,
insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your
hand.
And this is another thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping and
groaning, because He no longer regards your offerings or receives them
gladly from your
hands.
And saying,
Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand.
and saying, “
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
Whose
fan is in his

purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the
garner; but he will burn up the
chaff with
unquenchable fire.
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast
thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their
hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou
dash thy foot against a stone.
“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their
hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
From that time Jesus began to
preach, and to say,
Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand.
From that time on Jesus began to
preach, “
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
Agree with thine
adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the
adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Reconcile quickly with your
adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may
hand you over to the judge, and the judge may
hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.
And if thy right
hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into
hell.
And if your right
hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into
hell.
But when thou doest
alms, let not thy left
hand know what thy right
hand doeth:
But when you give to the
needy, do not let your left
hand know what your right
hand is doing,
