warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.
“
Cornelius the
centurion has sent us,” they said. “He is a righteous and God-fearing man with a good reputation among the whole Jewish nation. A holy angel

Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

listen to everything the Lord has

instructed his accusers to present their case against him before you.

For
whatsoever things were written
aforetime were written for our learning, that we through
patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
For everything that was written in the past was written for our
instruction, so that through
endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to
admonish one another.
I myself am
convinced, my brothers, that you
yourselves are full of goodness,
brimming with knowledge, and able to
instruct one another.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
“For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
For though ye have ten thousand
instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have
begotten you through the gospel.
Even if you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
In the following
instructions I have no praise to offer, because your gatherings do more
harm than good.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto
condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
If
anyone is
hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you come together it will not result in judgment. And when I come, I will give
instructions about the remaining matters.
Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
But in the church, I would rather speak five
coherent words to
instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
For ye may all
prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
Nevertheless, the one who receives
instruction in the word must share in all good things with his
instructor.
Fathers, do not
provoke your children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline and
instruction of the Lord.
I know both how to be
abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am
instructed both to be full and to be
hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I know how to live
humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being
hungry, to having
plenty and having need.
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and
Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have already received
instructions about him: If he comes to you,
welcome him.
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
For you know the instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
and to
aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands, as we
instructed you.
And we
beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and
admonish you;
But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work
diligently among you, who preside over you in the Lord and give you
instruction.
And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be
ashamed.
Take note of
anyone who does not obey the
instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be
ashamed.
As I
besought thee to
abide still at Ephesus, when I went into
Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
As I urged you on my departure to
Macedonia, you should stay on at Ephesus to
instruct certain men not to teach false doctrines
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith
unfeigned:
The
goal of our
instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a
sincere faith.
If thou put the brethren in
remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ,
nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine,
whereunto thou hast attained.
By pointing out these things to the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus,
nourished by the words of faith and sound
instruction that you have followed.
And these things give in charge, that they may be
blameless.
Give these instructions to the believers, so that they will be above reproach.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be
conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy.
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous and ready to share,
