And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;
they
wandered from
nation to
nation, from one kingdom to another.
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations.
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples.
For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the
nations,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Let the heavens be
glad, and let the earth
rejoice: and let men say among the
nations, The LORD reigneth.
Let the heavens be
glad, and the earth
rejoice. Let them say among the
nations, ‘The LORD reigns!’
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give
thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
Then cry out: ‘Save us, O God of our salvation; gather and deliver us from the
nations, that we may give
thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.’
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to
Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
Then
Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.
And
Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to
Nathan, saying,
But that night the word of God came to
Nathan, saying,
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did
Nathan speak unto David.
So
Nathan relayed to David all the words of this entire vision.
And what one
nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to
redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out
nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
And who is like Your people Israel—the one
nation on earth whom God went out to
redeem as a people for Himself? You made a name for
Yourself through great and
awesome wonders by driving out
nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.
Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these
nations; from
Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of
Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these
nations—from
Edom and Moab, and from the
Ammonites, Philistines, and
Amalekites.
Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the
seer, and in the book of
Nathan the prophet, and in the book of
Gad the
seer,
Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are indeed written in the Chronicles of Samuel the
Seer, the Chronicles of
Nathan the Prophet, and the Chronicles of
Gad the
Seer,
Then will I
pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have
sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a
proverb and a
byword among all
nations.
then I will
uproot Israel from the soil I have given them, and I will
banish from My presence this temple I have
sanctified for My Name. I will make it an object of
scorn and
ridicule among all the peoples.
Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of
Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of
Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of
Iddo the
seer against
Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
As for the rest of the acts of Solomon, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Records of
Nathan the Prophet, in the Prophecy of
Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the Visions of
Iddo the
Seer concerning
Jeroboam son of Nebat?
Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the
nations of other lands? so that
whosoever cometh to
consecrate himself with a young
bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
But did you not drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites? And did you not make priests for
yourselves as do the peoples of other lands? Now
whoever comes to
consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams can become a priest of things that are not gods.
And
nation was destroyed of
nation, and city of city: for God did
vex them with all
adversity.
And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to
withstand thee?
and said, “O LORD, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can stand against You.
Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
Moreover,
Ahaz burned incense in the Valley of
Hinnom and sacrificed his sons in the fire, according to the abominations of the
nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.
And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with
psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of
Gad the king’s
seer, and
Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
Hezekiah stationed the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres according to the command of David, of
Gad the king’s
seer, and of
Nathan the prophet. For the command had come from the LORD through His prophets.
So they established a decree to make
proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-
sheba even to
Dan, that they should come to keep the
passover unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.
So they established a decree to
circulate a
proclamation throughout Israel, from
Beersheba to
Dan, that the people should come to keep the
Passover of the LORD, the God of Israel, in Jerusalem. For they had not observed it as a
nation as prescribed.
Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have the gods of these nations ever been able to deliver their land from my hand?
Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
Who among all the gods of these nations that my fathers devoted to destruction has been able to deliver his people from my hand? How then can your God deliver you from my hand?
Now therefore let not
Hezekiah deceive you, nor
persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any
nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?
So now, do not let
Hezekiah deceive you, and do not let him mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any
nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand!”
He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the
nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of
Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
He also wrote letters
mocking the LORD, the God of Israel, and saying against Him: “Just as the gods of the
nations did not deliver their people from my hand, so the God of
Hezekiah will not deliver His people from my hand.”
And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to
Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was
magnified in the sight of all
nations from
thenceforth.
Many brought offerings to Jerusalem for the LORD and valuable gifts for
Hezekiah king of Judah, and from then on he was
exalted in the eyes of all
nations.
But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD by following the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.
So
Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to
err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.
So
Manasseh led the people of Judah and Jerusalem
astray, so that they did greater evil than the
nations that the LORD had destroyed before the Israelites.
Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people,
transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and
polluted the house of the LORD which he had
hallowed in Jerusalem.
Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people multiplied their unfaithful deeds, following all the abominations of the
nations, and they
defiled the house of the LORD, which He had consecrated in Jerusalem.
And the rest of the
nations whom the great and noble
Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.
and the rest of the peoples whom the great and honorable Ashurbanipal
deported and settled in the cities of Samaria and elsewhere west of the Euphrates.
Then sent I for
Eliezer, for
Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for
Nathan, and for
Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
Then I summoned the leaders:
Eliezer,
Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan,
Nathan,
Zechariah, and Meshullam, as well as the teachers Joiarib and Elnathan.
And Shelemiah, and
Nathan, and Adaiah,
Shimei, Shelemiah,
Nathan, Adaiah,
Remember, I
beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye
transgress, I will
scatter you abroad among the
nations:
Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses when You said, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will
scatter you among the
nations,
Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.
There were 150 Jews and officials at my table, besides the guests from the surrounding nations.
Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to
rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
that read: “It is reported among the
nations—and Geshem agrees—that you and the Jews are
plotting to revolt, and this is why you are building the wall. According to these reports, you are to become their king,
And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding
nations were afraid and
disheartened, for they realized that this task had been accomplished by our God.
Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and
nations, and
didst divide them into corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of
Heshbon, and the land of
Og king of
Bashan.
You gave them kingdoms and peoples and
allotted to them every corner of the land. So they took the land of Sihon king of
Heshbon and of
Og king of
Bashan.
Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many
nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did
outlandish women cause to sin.
Did not King Solomon of Israel sin in matters like this? There was not a king like him among many nations, and he was loved by his God, who made him king over all Israel—yet foreign women drew him into sin.
He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
He makes nations great and destroys them; He enlarges nations, then disperses them.
When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
But when He remains silent, who can
condemn Him? When He hides His face, who can see Him? Yet He watches over both man and
nation,
For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance.
Why do the heathen
rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Why do the
nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Ask Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession.
Thou hast
rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
You have
rebuked the
nations; You have destroyed the wicked; You have
erased their name
forever and ever.
Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in
Zion: declare among the people his doings.
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in
Zion;
proclaim His deeds among the
nations.
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they
hid is their own foot taken.
The nations have fallen into a pit of their making; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The wicked shall be turned into
hell, and all the
nations that
forget God.
The wicked will return to
Sheol— all the
nations who
forget God.
Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
Rise up, O LORD, do not let man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your presence.
Put them in fear, O LORD: that the
nations may know themselves to be but men.
Selah.
Lay terror upon them, O LORD; let the
nations know they are but men.
Selah The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
The LORD is King
forever and ever; the
nations perish from His land.
Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
You have delivered me from the
strife of the people; You have made me the head of
nations; a people I had not known shall serve me.
It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
the God who avenges me and subdues nations beneath me,
Therefore will I give
thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
Therefore I will praise You, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD. All the families of the nations will bow down before Him.
For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations.
For dominion belongs to the LORD and He rules over the nations.
The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to
nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.
The LORD frustrates the plans of the nations; He thwarts the devices of the peoples.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His inheritance!
I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
I have seen a wicked,
ruthless man flourishing like a well-rooted
native tree,
Judge me, O God, and
plead my cause against an ungodly
nation: O deliver me from the
deceitful and unjust man.
How thou
didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou
didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
With Your hand You drove out the
nations and planted our fathers there; You
crushed the peoples and cast them out.
Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
You have given us up as sheep to be
devoured; You have scattered us among the
nations.
Thou makest us a
byword among the heathen, a
shaking of the head among the people.
Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
Your arrows
pierce the hearts of the king’s foes; the
nations fall beneath your feet.
I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
I will
commemorate your name through all generations; therefore the
nations will praise you
forever and ever.
The heathen
raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
Nations rage, kingdoms
crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be
exalted among the heathen, I will be
exalted in the earth.
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be
exalted among the
nations, I will be
exalted over the earth.”
He shall
subdue the people under us, and the
nations under our feet.
He subdues nations beneath us, and peoples under our feet.
God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his
holiness.
God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne.
The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly
exalted.
The nobles of the
nations have assembled as the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly
exalted.
Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
In spite of such sin, will they escape? In Your anger, O God, cast down the nations.
I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing Your praises among the peoples.
Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel,
awake to visit all the heathen: be not
merciful to any wicked transgressors.
Selah.
O LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel,
rouse Yourself to
punish all the
nations; show no mercy to the wicked traitors.
Selah But thou, O LORD, shalt
laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in
derision.
But You, O LORD,
laugh at them; You
scoff at all the
nations.
Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the
tumult of the people.
You stilled the
roaring of the seas, the pounding of their waves, and the
tumult of the
nations.
He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the
nations: let not the
rebellious exalt themselves.
Selah.
That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.
that Your ways may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.
O let the
nations be
glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and
govern the
nations upon earth.
Selah.
Let the
nations be
glad and sing for joy, for You judge the peoples justly and lead the
nations of the earth.
Selah Rebuke the company of
spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the
calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver:
scatter thou the people that delight in war.
Rebuke the beast in the reeds, the
herd of bulls among the
calves of the
nations, until it submits, bringing bars of silver.
Scatter the
nations who delight in war.
Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all
nations shall serve him.
May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.
His name shall
endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all
nations shall call him blessed.
May his name
endure forever; may his name continue as long as the sun shines. In him may all
nations be blessed; may they call him blessed.
He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
He drove out
nations before them and
apportioned their inheritance; He settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they
defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
The
nations, O God, have invaded Your inheritance; they have
defiled Your holy temple and reduced Jerusalem to
rubble.
Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge You, on the kingdoms that refuse to call on Your name,
Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the
revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
Why should the
nations ask, “Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the
nations Your
vengeance for the
bloodshed of Your servants.
Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the
nations and
transplanted it.
Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt
inherit all
nations.
Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a
nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in
remembrance.
saying, “Come, let us
erase them as a
nation; may the name of Israel be remembered no more.”
All
nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall
glorify thy name.
All the
nations You have made will come and bow before You, O Lord, and they will
glorify Your name.
He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
He who admonishes the nations, does He not discipline? He who teaches man, does He lack knowledge?
Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all peoples.
For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens.
Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the
nations,
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
Declare among the
nations: “The LORD reigns!” The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved; He will judge the peoples with
equity.
The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
The LORD has proclaimed His salvation and revealed His righteousness to the nations.
The LORD reigneth; let the people
tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.
So the nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth will fear Your glory.
O give
thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
Give
thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the
nations.
When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;
they
wandered from
nation to
nation, from one kingdom to another.
And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;
He gave them the lands of the
nations, that they might
inherit the fruit of others’ labor,
That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may
rejoice in the
gladness of thy
nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, and
rejoice in the
gladness of Your
nation, and give glory with Your inheritance.
