And the breadth of the door was ten cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits.
The width of the entrance was ten cubits, and the sides of the entrance were five cubits on each side. He also measured the length of the outer sanctuary to be forty cubits, and the width to be twenty cubits.
The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cubits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within.
The outer wall of the side rooms was five cubits thick, and the open area between the side rooms of the temple
And between the chambers was the wideness of twenty cubits round about the house on every side.
and the outer chambers was twenty cubits wide all around the temple.
And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the
galleries thereof on the one side and on the other side, an hundred cubits, with the inner temple, and the porches of the court;
Next he measured the length of the building facing the temple
courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its
galleries on each side; it was a hundred cubits. The
outer sanctuary, the inner sanctuary, and the
porticoes facing the court,
To that above the door, even unto the inner house, and without, and by all the wall round about within and without, by measure.
In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary on all the walls, spaced evenly around the inner and outer sanctuary,
From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the
outer sanctuary from the floor to the space above the entrance.
The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other.
The outer sanctuary had a rectangular doorframe, and the doorframe of the sanctuary was similar.
And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.
Both the outer sanctuary and the inner sanctuary had double doors,
And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the
porch without.
Cherubim and palm trees like those on the walls were carved on the doors of the
outer sanctuary, and there was a wooden
canopy outside, on the front of the
portico.
Then he brought me forth into the utter court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was before the building toward the north.
Then the man led me
out northward into the
outer court, and he brought me to the group of chambers opposite the temple
courtyard and the
outer wall on the north side.
Over against the twenty cubits which were for the inner court, and over against the
pavement which was for the utter court, was gallery against gallery in three stories.
Gallery faced gallery in three levels opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court and opposite the
pavement that belonged to the
outer court.
And the wall that was without over against the chambers, toward the utter court on the
forepart of the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits.
An outer wall in front of the chambers was fifty cubits long and ran parallel to the chambers and the outer court.
For the length of the chambers that were in the utter court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were an hundred cubits.
For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those facing the temple were a hundred cubits long.
And from under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the utter court.
And below these chambers was the entrance on the east side as one enters them from the outer court.
The chambers were in the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, over against the separate place, and over against the building.
On the south side along the length of the wall of the
outer court were chambers adjoining the
courtyard and opposite the building,
And the way before them was like the appearance of the chambers which were toward the north, as long as they, and as broad as they: and all their goings out were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors.
with a
passageway in front of them, just like the chambers that were on the north. They had the same length and width, with similar exits and dimensions.
When the priests enter therein, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the utter court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy; and shall put on other garments, and shall approach to those things which are for the people.
Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.”
Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth toward the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me.
While the man was standing beside me, I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple,
And if they be
ashamed of all that they have done,
shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings
out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
and if they are
ashamed of all they have done, then make known to them the design of the temple—its arrangement and its exits and entrances—its whole design along with all its statutes, forms, and laws. Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its complete design and all its statutes and may carry them
out.
Thou shalt take the
bullock also of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary.
Then you are to take away the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the appointed part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.
Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin offering: they shall also prepare a young
bullock, and a ram
out of the flock, without
blemish.
For seven days you are to provide a male goat daily for a sin offering; you are also to provide a young bull and a ram from the flock, both
unblemished.
Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut.
The man then brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary that faced east, but it was shut.
It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate, and shall go
out by the way of the same.
Only the prince himself may sit inside the
gateway to eat in the presence of the LORD. He must enter by way of the
portico of the
gateway and go
out the same way.”
And when they go forth into the utter court, even into the utter court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other garments; and they shall not
sanctify the people with their garments.
When they go
out to the
outer court, to the people, they are to take off the garments in which they have ministered, leave them in the holy chambers, and dress in other clothes so that they do not
transmit holiness to the people with their garments.
Concerning the
ordinance of oil, the bath of oil, ye shall offer the tenth part of a bath
out of the cor, which is an homer of ten baths; for ten baths are an homer:
The prescribed portion of oil, measured by the bath, is a tenth of a bath from each cor (a cor consists of ten baths or one homer, since ten baths are equivalent to a homer).
And one lamb
out of the flock,
out of two hundred,
out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one sheep shall be given from each flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
And the prince shall enter by the way of the
porch of that gate without, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, and he shall worship at the
threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening.
The prince is to enter from the
outside through the
portico of the
gateway and stand by the
gatepost, while the priests sacrifice his burnt offerings and peace offerings. He is to bow in worship at the
threshold of the gate and then depart, but the gate must not be shut until evening.
And when the prince shall enter, he shall go in by the way of the
porch of that gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof.
When the prince enters, he shall go in through the
portico of the
gateway, and he shall go
out the same way.
But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
When the people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed feasts,
whoever enters by the north gate to worship must go
out by the south gate, and
whoever enters by the south gate must go
out by the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which he entered, but each must go
out by the opposite gate.
Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt offering or peace offerings
voluntarily unto the LORD, one shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east, and he shall prepare his burnt offering and his peace offerings, as he did on the sabbath day: then he shall go forth; and after his going forth one shall shut the gate.
When the prince makes a
freewill offering to the LORD, whether a burnt offering or a peace offering, the gate facing east must be opened for him. He is to offer his burnt offering or peace offering just as he does on the Sabbath day. Then he shall go
out, and the gate must be closed after he goes
out.
Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people be not scattered every man from his possession.
The prince must not take any of the inheritance of the people by
evicting them from their property. He is to provide an inheritance for his sons from his own property, so that none of My people will be displaced from his property.’”
Then said he unto me, This is the place where the priests shall
boil the
trespass offering and the sin offering, where they shall
bake the meat offering; that they bear them not
out into the utter court, to
sanctify the people.
and said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall
boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they shall
bake the grain offering, so that they do not bring them into the
outer court and
transmit holiness to the people.”
Then he brought me forth into the utter court, and caused me to pass by the four corners of the court; and, behold, in every corner of the court there was a court.
Then he brought me into the outer court and led me around to its four corners, and I saw a separate court in each of its corners.
In the four corners of the court there were courts joined of forty cubits long and thirty broad: these four corners were of one measure.
In the four corners of the outer court there were enclosed courts, each forty cubits long and thirty cubits wide. Each of the four corner areas had the same dimensions.
Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued
out from under the
threshold of the house eastward: for the
forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Then the man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from under the
threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar.
Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.
Next he brought me
out through the north gate and led me around the
outside to the
outer gate facing east, and there I saw the water
trickling out from the south side.
Then said he unto me, These waters issue
out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be
healed.
And he said to me, “This water flows
out to the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah. When it
empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh.
And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not
fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued
out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of all kinds will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves for
healing.”
And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
The workers of the city who
cultivate it will come from all the tribes of Israel.
And by the border of
Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of
strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the great sea.
The southern border of
Gad will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the
Brook of Egypt and
out to the Great Sea.
And these are the goings out of the city on the north side, four thousand and five hundred measures.
“These will be the exits of the city:
And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
So the decree went
out that the wise men were to be executed, and men went to look for Daniel and his friends to
execute them.
Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king’s guard, which was gone forth to
slay the wise men of Babylon:
When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, had gone
out to
execute the wise men of Babylon, Daniel replied with
discretion and
tact.
Thou sawest till that a stone was cut
out without hands, which
smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and
brake them to pieces.
As you watched, a stone was cut
out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and
crushed them.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut
out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut
out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you
out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us
out of thine hand, O king.
If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the
blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning
fiery furnace, and spake, and said,
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come
hither. Then
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
He
cried aloud, and said thus,
Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches,
shake off his leaves, and
scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
He called
out in a loud voice: ‘Cut down the tree and
chop off its branches; strip off its leaves and
scatter its fruit. Let the beasts
flee from under it, and the birds from its branches.
At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
At the same time my
sanity was restored, my honor and
splendor returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me
out, and I was restored to my throne, and
surpassing greatness was added to me.
Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father
Nebuchadnezzar had taken
out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
Under the influence of the wine,
Belshazzar gave orders to bring in the gold and silver vessels that
Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king could drink from them, along with his nobles, his wives, and his concubines.
Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken
out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines,
drank in them.
Thus they brought in the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king
drank from them, along with his nobles, his wives, and his concubines.
The king
cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon,
Whosoever shall read this writing, and
shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
The king called
out for the enchanters, astrologers, and diviners to be brought in, and he said to these wise men of Babylon, “
Whoever reads this inscription and tells me its interpretation will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the
banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
Hearing the
outcry of the king and his nobles, the queen entered the
banquet hall. “O king, may you live
forever!” she said. “Do not let your thoughts
terrify you, or your face grow pale.
Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought
out of
Jewry?
So Daniel was brought before the king, who asked him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?
And when he came to the den, he
cried with a
lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
When he reached the den, he
cried out in a voice of
anguish, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”
Then was the king exceeding
glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up
out of the den. So Daniel was taken up
out of the den, and no manner of
hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel
out of the den, and when Daniel was lifted
out of the den, no wounds
whatsoever were found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
And four great beasts came up from the sea,
diverse one from another.
Then four great beasts came up out of the sea, each one different from the others:
A
fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
A river of fire was flowing, coming
out from His presence. Thousands upon thousands attended Him, and myriads upon myriads stood before Him. The court was
convened, and the books were opened.
These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
‘These four great beasts are four kings who will arise from the earth.
And the ten horns
out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be
diverse from the first, and he shall
subdue three kings.
And the ten horns are ten kings who will rise from this kingdom. After them another king, different from the earlier ones, will rise and
subdue three kings.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
He will speak
out against the Most High and
oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the appointed times and laws; and the saints will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.
I saw the ram
pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver
out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
I saw the ram charging toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no
deliverance from his power. He did as he pleased and became great.
And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
As I was
contemplating all this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between his eyes came
out of the west, crossing the surface of the entire earth without touching the ground.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with
choler against him, and
smote the ram, and
brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram
out of his hand.
I saw him approach the ram in a
rage against him, and he struck the ram and
shattered his two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against him, and the goat threw him to the ground and
trampled him, and no one could deliver the ram from his power.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
From one of these horns a little horn
emerged and grew extensively toward the south and the east and toward the Beautiful Land.
Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.
The four horns that replaced the broken one represent four kingdoms that will rise from that nation, but will not have the same power.
Yea, all Israel have
transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the
curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have
sinned against him.
All Israel has
transgressed Your law and turned away, refusing to obey Your voice; so the oath and the
curse written in the Law of Moses the servant of God has been poured
out on us, because we have
sinned against You.
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
You have carried
out the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a great
disaster. For under all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth
out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people
out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who made for
Yourself a name
renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted wickedly.
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to
shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:
And he shall
confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it
desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the
desolate.
And he will
confirm a covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of the temple will come the
abomination that causes
desolation, until the decreed destruction is poured
out upon him.”
And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his
posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be
plucked up, even for others beside those.
But as soon as he is established, his kingdom will be broken up and
parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the authority with which he ruled, because his kingdom will be uprooted and given to others.
But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:
But one from her family line will rise up in his place, come against the army of the king of the North, and enter his fortress, fighting and prevailing.
And the king of the south shall be moved with
choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
In a
rage, the king of the South will march
out to fight the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be delivered into the hand of his enemy.
Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
In his place one will arise who will send
out a tax
collector for the glory of the kingdom; but within a few days he will be destroyed, though not in anger or in battle.
And at the time of the end shall the king of the south
push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a
whirlwind, with
chariots, and with
horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
At the time of the end, the king of the South will
engage him in battle, but the king of the North will storm
out against him with
chariots,
horsemen, and many ships,
invading many countries and
sweeping through them like a flood.
He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape
out of his hand, even
Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of
Ammon.
He will also
invade the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall. But these will be delivered from his hand:
Edom, Moab, and the leaders of the
Ammonites.
But
tidings out of the east and
out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great
fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
But news from the east and the north will
alarm him, and he will go
out with great
fury to destroy many and
devote them to destruction.
And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will be the outcome of these things?”
Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and
appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up
out of the land: for great shall be the day of
Jezreel.
Then the people of Judah and of Israel will be gathered together, and they will
appoint for themselves one leader, and will go up
out of the land. For great will be the day of
Jezreel.
Plead with your mother,
plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms
out of her sight, and her
adulteries from between her breasts;
Rebuke your mother,
rebuke her, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the
adultery from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.
And now will I discover her
lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her
out of mine hand.
And then I will
expose her
lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her
out of My hands.
And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of
Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up
out of the land of Egypt.
There I will give back her vineyards and make the Valley of
Achor into a
gateway of hope. There she will
respond as she did in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up
out of Egypt.
For I will take away the names of
Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
For I will remove from her lips the names of the Baals; no longer will their names be
invoked.
And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the
creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle
out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.
On that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that
crawl on the ground. And I will
abolish bow and sword and weapons of war in the land, and will make them lie down in safety.
Hear ye this, O priests; and
hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment is toward you, because ye have been a
snare on
Mizpah, and a net spread upon
Tabor.
“Hear this, O priests! Take
heed, O house of Israel! Give ear, O royal house! For this judgment is against you because you have been a
snare at
Mizpah, a net spread
out on
Tabor.
The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
The princes of Judah are like those who move boundary stones; I will pour
out My
fury upon them like water.
In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.
The princes are inflamed with wine on the day of our king; so he joins hands with those who
mock him.
Ephraim also is like a
silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
So Ephraim has become like a
silly, senseless
dove— calling
out to Egypt, then turning to Assyria.
And they have not
cried unto me with their heart, when they
howled upon their beds: they
assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they
rebel against me.
They do not cry
out to Me from their hearts when they
wail upon their beds. They
slash themselves for grain and new wine, but turn away from Me.
Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
Israel
cries out to Me, “O our God, we know You!”
They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be
polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
They will not pour
out wine offerings to the LORD, and their sacrifices will not please Him, but will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat will be
defiled. For their bread will be for themselves; it will not enter the house of the LORD.
Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.
I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a
meadow. But Ephraim will bring
out his children for slaughter.
All their wickedness is in
Gilgal: for there I
hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them
out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.
All their evil appears at
Gilgal, for there I
hated them. I will drive them from My house for the wickedness of their deeds. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are
rebellious.
And Ephraim is as an
heifer that is taught, and loveth to
tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to
ride; Judah shall
plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
Ephraim is a well-trained
heifer that loves to
thresh; but I will place a yoke on her fair neck. I will
harness Ephraim, Judah will
plow, and Jacob will break the hard ground.
When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.
