And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low
stature, whose branches turned toward him, and the roots thereof were under him: so it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs.
It
sprouted and became a spreading vine, low in height, with branches turned toward him; yet its roots remained where it stood. So it became a vine and yielded branches and sent
out shoots.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her
plantation.
But there was another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. And behold, this vine bent its roots toward him. It stretched out its branches to him from its planting bed, so that he might water it.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high
cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent:
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take a shoot from the lofty top of the
cedar, and I will set it
out. I will
pluck a tender
sprig from its
topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit.
Then the nations set
out against him from the provinces on every side. They spread their net over him; he was
trapped in their pit.
And fire is gone
out of a rod of her branches, which hath
devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a
sceptre to rule. This is a
lamentation, and shall be for a
lamentation.
Fire has gone
out from its main branch and
devoured its fruit; on it no strong branch remains fit for a ruler’s
scepter.’ This is a
lament and shall be used as a
lament.”
In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had
espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:
On that day I
swore to bring them
out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched
out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the glory of all lands.
But they rebelled against me, and would not
hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they
forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour
out my
fury upon them to
accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
But they rebelled against Me and refused to
listen. None of them cast away the abominations before their eyes, and they did not
forsake the idols of Egypt. So I resolved to pour
out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the land of Egypt.
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth
out of the land of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were living, in whose sight I had revealed Myself to Israel by bringing them
out of the land of Egypt.
Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.
So I brought them out of the land of Egypt and led them into the wilderness.
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they
despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly
polluted: then I said, I would pour
out my
fury upon them in the wilderness, to
consume them.
Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not follow My statutes and they rejected My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they utterly
profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour
out My wrath upon them and put an end to them in the wilderness.
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them
out.
But I acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them
out.
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they
polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour
out my
fury upon them, to
accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or carefully observe My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they
profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour
out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the wilderness.
Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
But I
withheld My hand and acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them
out.
For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the
provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured
out there their drink offerings.
When I brought them into the land that I
swore to give them and they saw any high hill or
leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices, presented offerings that
provoked Me, sent up their
fragrant incense, and poured
out their drink offerings.
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched
out arm, and with
fury poured
out, will I rule over you:
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will rule over you.
And I will bring you
out from the people, and will gather you
out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched
out arm, and with
fury poured
out.
With a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered.
And I will
purge out from among you the rebels, and them that
transgress against me: I will bring them forth
out of the country where they
sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
And I will
purge you of those who
rebel and
transgress against Me. I will bring them
out of the land in which they dwell, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you
out from the people, and gather you
out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be
sanctified in you before the heathen.
When I bring you from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered, I will accept you as a pleasing
aroma. And I will show My
holiness through you in the sight of the nations.
And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword
out of his
sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
and tell her that this is what the LORD says: ‘I am against you, and I will draw My sword from its
sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.
Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth
out of his
sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
Because I will cut off both the righteous and the wicked, My sword will be
unsheathed against
everyone from south to north.
That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword
out of his
sheath: it shall not return any more.
Then all flesh will know that I, the LORD, have taken My sword from its
sheath, not to return it again.’
Cry and
howl, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people:
smite therefore upon thy
thigh.
Cry
out and
wail, O son of man, for the sword is
wielded against My people; it is against all the princes of Israel! They are
tossed to the sword with My people; therefore strike your
thigh.
Also, thou son of man,
appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both
twain shall come forth
out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.
“Now you, son of man, mark
out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to take, both starting from the same land. And make a
signpost where the road branches off to each city.
Mark
out one road for the sword to come against Rabbah of the
Ammonites, and another against Judah into fortified Jerusalem.
And I will pour
out mine
indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of
brutish men, and skilful to destroy.
I will pour
out My anger upon you; I will
breathe the fire of My
fury against you; I will hand you over to
brutal men, skilled in destruction.
I will
disperse you among the nations and
scatter you throughout the lands; I will
purge your uncleanness.
As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured
out my
fury upon you.
As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted within the city. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have poured out My wrath upon you.’”
Therefore have I poured
out mine
indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I
recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
So I have poured
out My
indignation upon them and consumed them with the fire of My
fury. I have brought their ways down upon their own heads, declares the Lord GOD.”
Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they
bruised the breasts of her
virginity, and poured their
whoredom upon her.
They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.
They will strip off your clothes and take your fine
jewelry.
Thou shalt even drink it and
suck it
out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and
pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You will drink it and
drain it; you will
dash it to pieces, and
tear your breasts. For I have spoken,’ declares the Lord GOD.
Thus will I cause
lewdness to cease
out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your
lewdness.
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone
out of it! bring it
out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘
Woe to the city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
For the blood she shed is still within her; she poured it out on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.
She hath
wearied herself with lies, and her great
scum went not forth
out of her: her
scum shall be in the fire.
It has
frustrated every effort; its thick
rust has not been removed, even by the fire.
Behold, therefore I will stretch
out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a
spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish
out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
therefore I will indeed stretch
out My hand against you and give you as
plunder to the nations. I will cut you off from the peoples and
exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the LORD.’
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also stretch
out mine hand upon
Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it
desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will stretch
out My hand against
Edom and cut off from it both man and beast. I will make it a wasteland, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch
out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the
remnant of the sea coast.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I will stretch
out My hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the
remnant along the coast.
Of the oaks of
Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy
benches of ivory, brought
out of the isles of
Chittim.
Of oaks from
Bashan they made your oars; of wood from the coasts of
Cyprus they made your deck, inlaid with ivory.
The suburbs shall
shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.
And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall
wallow themselves in the ashes:
They will raise their voices for you and cry out bitterly. They will throw dust on their heads and roll in ashes.
When thy wares went forth
out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou
didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy
merchandise.
When your wares went
out to sea, you satisfied many nations. You enriched the kings of the earth with your abundant wealth and
merchandise.
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales.
But I will put hooks in your jaws and cause the fish of your streams to
cling to your scales. I will
haul you up
out of your rivers, and all the fish of your streams will
cling to your scales.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will bring a sword against you and cut off from you man and beast.
In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease
out of
Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.
This is what the Lord GOD says: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in
Memphis. There will no longer be a prince in Egypt, and I will instill fear in that land.
And I will pour my
fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break his arms, both the strong one and the one already broken, and will make the sword fall from his hand.
But I will
strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it
out upon the land of Egypt.
I will
strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king, but Pharaoh’s arms will fall
limp. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I place My sword in the hand of Babylon’s king, and he wields it against the land of Egypt.
The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.
The waters made it grow; the deep springs made it tall, directing their streams all around its base and sending their channels to all the trees of the field.
Therefore his height was
exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.
Therefore it towered higher than all the trees of the field. Its branches multiplied, and its boughs grew long as it spread them out because of the abundant waters.
I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
I delivered it into the hand of the ruler of the nations, for him to deal with it according to its wickedness. I have banished it.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will spread My net over you with a company of many peoples, and they will draw you up in My net.
And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
When I
extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and
darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.
The strong among the mighty shall speak to him
out of the midst of
hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie
uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
Mighty chiefs will speak from the midst of
Sheol about Egypt and her allies: ‘They have come down and lie with the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.’
When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou
dost not speak to
warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
If I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ but you do not speak
out to
dissuade him from his way, then that wicked man will die in his iniquity, yet I will hold you accountable for his blood.
And it came to pass in the
twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped
out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is
smitten.
In the
twelfth year of our exile, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a
fugitive from Jerusalem came to me and reported, “The city has been taken!”
My sheep
wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My flock went
astray on all the mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them
out.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and seek them out.
As a
shepherd seeketh
out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek
out my sheep, and will deliver them
out of all places where they have been scattered in the
cloudy and dark day.
As a
shepherd looks for his scattered sheep when he is among the flock, so I will look for My flock. I will
rescue them from all the places to which they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.
And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
I will bring them out from the peoples, gather them from the countries, and bring them into their own land. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines, and in all the settlements of the land.
And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
I will make with them a covenant of peace and rid the land of wild animals, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the forest.
And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.
The trees of the field will give their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; My flock will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke and delivered them from the hands that
enslaved them.
And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount
Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch
out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most
desolate.
and declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, O Mount
Seir. I will stretch
out My hand against you and make you a
desolate waste.
Thus will I make mount
Seir most
desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth
out and him that returneth.
I will make Mount
Seir a
desolate waste and will cut off from it those who come and go.
Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine
envy which thou hast used
out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will treat you according to the anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred against them, and I will make Myself known among them when I judge you.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all
Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with
despiteful minds, to cast it
out for a prey.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Surely in My burning zeal I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all
Edom, who took My land as their own possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, so that its pastureland became
plunder.
Wherefore I poured my
fury upon them for the blood that they had shed upon the land, and for their idols
wherewith they had
polluted it:
So I poured
out My wrath upon them because of the blood they had shed on the land, and because they had
defiled it with their idols.
And when they entered unto the heathen,
whither they went, they
profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth
out of his land.
And wherever they went among the nations, they
profaned My holy name, because it was said of them, ‘These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave His land.’
For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and I will bring you back into your own land.
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the
stony heart
out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and He brought me out by His Spirit and set me down in the middle of the valley, and it was full of bones.
Therefore
prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up
out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
Therefore
prophesy and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘O My people, I will open your graves and bring you up from them, and I will bring you back to the land of Israel.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
Then you, My people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen,
whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
you are to tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take the Israelites out of the nations to which they have gone, and I will gather them from all around and bring them into their own land.
Neither shall they
defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their
detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them
out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have
sinned, and will
cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
They will no longer
defile themselves with their idols or
detestable images, or with any of their transgressions. I will save them from all their
apostasies by which they
sinned, and I will
cleanse them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.
And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and
horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws, and bring you
out with all your army—your horses, your
horsemen in full
armor, and a great company armed with shields and bucklers, all
brandishing their swords.
After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
After a long time you will be summoned. In the latter years you will enter a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been
desolate. They had been brought
out from the nations, and all now dwell securely.
To take a
spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the
desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered
out of the nations, which have
gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
in order to seize the
spoil and carry off the
plunder, to turn a hand against the
desolate places now inhabited and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired
livestock and possessions and who live at the center of the land.’
And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
And you will come from your place
out of the far north—you and many peoples with you, all riding horses—a mighty
horde, a huge army.
And I will
plead against him with
pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and
brimstone.
I will
execute judgment upon him with plague and
bloodshed. I will pour
out torrents of rain, hailstones, fire, and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him.
And I will
smite thy bow
out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall
out of thy right hand.
Then I will strike the bow from your left hand and
dash down the arrows from your right hand.
And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go
out,
kindle fires, and burn up the weapons—the bucklers and shields, the bows and arrows, the clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel.
So that they shall take no wood
out of the field, neither cut down any
out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall
spoil those that
spoiled them, and
rob those that
robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.
They will not gather wood from the
countryside or cut it from the forests, for they will use the weapons for fuel. They will
loot those who
looted them and
plunder those who
plundered them, declares the Lord GOD.
And they shall
sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to
bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to
cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
And men will be employed to continually pass through the land to
cleanse it by
burying the invaders who remain on the ground. At the end of the seven months they will begin their search.
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every
feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field,
Assemble yourselves, and come; gather
yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call
out to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: ‘
Assemble and come together from all around to the
sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.
When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them
out of their enemies’ lands, and am
sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them
out of the lands of their enemies, I will show My
holiness in them in the sight of many nations.
Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
And I will no longer hide My face from them, for I will pour out My Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Lord GOD.”
And behold a wall on the
outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the
cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
And I saw a wall surrounding the temple area. Now the length of the measuring rod in the man’s hand was six long cubits (each measuring a
cubit and a
handbreadth), and he measured the wall to be one rod thick and one rod high.
Then brought he me into the
outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a
pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the
pavement.
Then he brought me into the
outer court, and there were chambers and a
pavement laid
out all around the court. Thirty chambers faced the
pavement,
Then he measured the breadth from the
forefront of the lower gate unto the
forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
Then he measured the distance from the front of the lower
gateway to the
outside of the inner court; it was a hundred cubits on the east side as well as on the north.
And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.
He also measured the length and width of the
gateway of the
outer court facing north.
And the arches thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof: and the going up to it had eight steps.
Its
portico faced the
outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees. Eight steps led up to it.
And the arches thereof were toward the outward court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.
Its
portico faced the
outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees on each side. Eight steps led up to it.
And the posts thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.
Its
portico faced the
outer court, and its side pillars were decorated with palm trees on each side. Eight steps led up to it.
And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the
porch of the gate, were two tables.
Outside, as one goes up to the entrance of the north
gateway, there were two tables on one side and two more tables on the other side of the gate’s
portico.
Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables,
whereupon they
slew their sacrifices.
So there were four tables inside the
gateway and four
outside—eight tables in all—on which the sacrifices were to be slaughtered.
And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Outside the inner gate, within the inner court, were two chambers, one beside the north gate and facing south, and another beside the south gate and facing north.
Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.
Then the man brought me into the outer sanctuary and measured the side pillars to be six cubits wide on each side.
