The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall
devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.
Over all the barren heights in the wilderness the destroyers have come, for the sword of the LORD devours from one end of the earth to the other. No flesh has peace.
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall
weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away
captive.
But if you do not
listen, I will
weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will
overflow with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been taken
captive.
What
wilt thou say when he shall
punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief
over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in
travail?
What will you say when He sets
over you close allies whom you
yourself trained? Will not pangs of
anguish grip you, as they do a woman in labor?
Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.
So I will pull your skirts up over your face, that your shame may be seen.
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very
grievous blow.
You are to speak this word to them: ‘My eyes
overflow with tears; day and night they do not cease, for the virgin daughter of my people has been
shattered by a
crushing blow, a severely
grievous wound.
And I will
appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to
slay, and the dogs to
tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to
devour and destroy.
I will
appoint over them four kinds of destroyers, declares the LORD: the sword to kill, the dogs to
drag away, and the birds of the air and beasts of the earth to
devour and destroy.
And I will make thee unto this people a
fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
Then I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to save and deliver you, declares the LORD.
O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the
spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.
O My mountain in the
countryside, I will give
over your wealth and all your treasures as
plunder, because of the sin of your high places, within all your borders.
Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be
bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
Therefore, hand their children over to famine; pour out the power of the sword upon them. Let their wives become childless and widowed; let their husbands be slain by disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to
slay me:
forgive not their iniquity, neither
blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be
overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.
But You, O LORD, know all their deadly plots against me. Do not
wipe out their guilt or
blot out their sin from Your sight. Let them be
overthrown before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to
thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them
captive into Babylon, and shall
slay them with the sword.
For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to
yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very eyes. And I will hand Judah
over to the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away to Babylon and put them to the sword.
O LORD, thou hast
deceived me, and I was
deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in
derision daily, every one mocketh me.
And let that man be as the cities which the LORD
overthrew, and
repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the
shouting at
noontide;
May that man be like the cities that the LORD
overthrew without
compassion. May he hear an outcry in the morning and a battle cry at
noon,
And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver
Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the
pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall
smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not
spare them, neither have
pity, nor have mercy.
‘After that,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will hand
over Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and the people in this city who
survive the plague and sword and famine, to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will not
spare them or show
pity or
compassion.’
And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
In fact, I will hand you
over to those you
dread, who want to take your life—to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to the Chaldeans.
And I will set up
shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
I will raise up
shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or dismayed, nor will any go missing, declares the LORD.
Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones
shake; I am like a
drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath
overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his
holiness.
As for the prophets: My heart is broken within me, and all my bones
tremble. I have become like a
drunkard, like a man
overcome by wine, because of the LORD, because of His holy words.
Therefore
prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall
roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy
habitation; he shall
mightily roar upon his
habitation; he shall give a
shout, as they that
tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
So you are to
prophesy all these words against them and say to them: ‘The LORD will
roar from on high; He will raise His voice from His holy
habitation. He will
roar loudly
over His pasture; like those who
tread the grapes, He will call out with a
shout against all the inhabitants of the earth.
Nevertheless the hand of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
Nevertheless,
Ahikam son of Shaphan supported Jeremiah, so he was not handed
over to the people to be put to death.
Why criest thou for thine
affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.
Why do you cry out over your wound? Your pain has no cure! Because of your great iniquity and your numerous sins I have done these things to you.
For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and
ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
For the LORD has
ransomed Jacob and redeemed him from the hand that had
overpowered him.
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of
Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the
herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
They will come and
shout for joy on the heights of
Zion; they will be
radiant over the
bounty of the LORD— the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered garden, and never again will they
languish.
And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched
over them, to
pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to
afflict; so will I watch
over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.
Just as I watched
over them to
uproot and
tear down, to
demolish, destroy, and bring
disaster, so I will watch
over them to build and to plant,” declares the LORD.
And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.
The measuring line will once again stretch out straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn toward Goah.
Yea, I will
rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land
assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
Yes, I will
rejoice in doing them good, and I will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.
Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
then I would also
reject the descendants of Jacob and of My servant David, so as not to take from his descendants rulers
over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For I will restore them from captivity and will have
compassion on them.”
But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I
beseech thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live.
“They will not hand you over,” Jeremiah replied. “Obey the voice of the LORD in what I am telling you, that it may go well with you and you may live.
And, behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah’s house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say, Thy friends have set thee on, and have prevailed against thee: thy feet are sunk in the
mire, and they are turned away back.
All the women who remain in the palace of the king of Judah will be brought out to the officials of the king of Babylon, and those women will say: ‘They misled you and
overcame you— those trusted friends of yours. Your feet
sank into the
mire, and they deserted you.’
Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
When all the officials came to Jeremiah and questioned him, he relayed to them the exact words the king had commanded him to say. So they said no more to him, for no one had overheard the conversation.
But the Chaldeans’ army pursued after them, and
overtook Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them and
overtook Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho. They seized him and brought him up to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.
Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.
had Jeremiah brought from the
courtyard of the guard, and they turned him
over to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him home. So Jeremiah remained among his own people.
Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor
over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go
wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him
victuals and a reward, and let him go.
But before Jeremiah turned to go, Nebuzaradan added, “Return to Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed
over the cities of Judah, and stay with him among the people, or go
anywhere else that seems right.” Then the captain of the guard gave him a
ration and a gift and released him.
Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away
captive to Babylon;
When all the commanders and men of the armies in the field heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam over the land and that he had put him in charge of the men, women, and children who were the poorest of the land and had not been exiled to Babylon,
Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the
Ammonites, and in
Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a
remnant of Judah, and that he had set
over them Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
When all the Jews in Moab,
Ammon,
Edom, and all the other lands heard that the king of Babylon had left a
remnant in Judah and had appointed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan,
over them,
Then arose
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and
smote Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and
slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor
over the land.
Then
Ishmael son of Nethaniah and the ten men who were with him got up and struck down Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword, killing the one whom the king of Babylon had appointed to
govern the land.
Then
Ishmael carried away
captive all the residue of the people that were in
Mizpah, even the king’s daughters, and all the people that remained in
Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam: and
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away
captive, and departed to go
over to the
Ammonites.
So all the people that
Ishmael had carried away
captive from
Mizpah cast about and returned, and went unto Johanan the son of Kareah.
and all the people whom
Ishmael had taken
captive at
Mizpah turned and went
over to Johanan son of Kareah.
Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.
to escape the Chaldeans. For they were afraid of the Chaldeans because
Ishmael son of Nethaniah had struck down Gedaliah son of
Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed
over the land.
Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall
overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine,
whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.
then the sword you fear will
overtake you there, and the famine you
dread will follow on your heels into Egypt, and you will die there.
And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have
hid; and he shall spread his royal
pavilion over them.
Then tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will send for My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne
over these stones that I have
embedded, and he will spread his royal
pavilion over them.
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
I am watching
over them for
harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine, until they are finished off.
The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath
stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.
The nations have heard of your shame, and your outcry fills the earth, because
warrior stumbles
over warrior and both of them have fallen together.”
He made many to fall,
yea, one fell upon another: and they said, Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our
nativity, from the
oppressing sword.
They continue to
stumble; indeed, they have fallen
over one another. They say, ‘Get up! Let us return to our people and to the land of our birth, away from the sword of the
oppressor.’
Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an
overflowing flood, and shall
overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall
howl.
This is what the LORD says: “See how the waters are rising from the north and becoming an
overflowing torrent. They will
overflow the land and its fullness, the cities and their inhabitants. The people will cry out, and all who dwell in the land will
wail For in the going up of Luhith continual
weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.
For on the
ascent to Luhith they
weep bitterly as they go, and on the descent to Horonaim
cries of distress resound
over the destruction:
O vine of Sibmah, I will
weep for thee with the
weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone
over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the
spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy
vintage.
I will
weep for you, O vine of Sibmah, more than I
weep for Jazer. Your tendrils have extended to the sea; they reach even to Jazer. The destroyer has descended on your summer fruit and
grape harvest.
For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.
For this is what the LORD says: “Behold, an eagle swoops down and spreads his wings against Moab.
As in the
overthrow of
Sodom and
Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall
abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
As
Sodom and
Gomorrah were
overthrown along with their neighbors,” says the LORD, “no one will dwell there; no man will
abide there.
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the
habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may
appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will
appoint me the time? and who is that
shepherd that will stand before me?
Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered pasture. For in an instant I will
chase Edom from her land. Who is the chosen one I will
appoint for this? For who is like Me, and who can
challenge Me? What
shepherd can stand against Me?”
Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings
over Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the mighty men of
Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Look! An eagle will
soar and
swoop down, spreading its wings
over Bozrah. In that day the hearts of
Edom’s mighty men will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
A
drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of
graven images, and they are
mad upon their idols.
A
drought is upon her waters, and they will be dried up. For it is a land of
graven images, and the people go
mad over idols.
As God
overthrew Sodom and
Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man
abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.
As God
overthrew Sodom and
Gomorrah along with their neighbors,” declares the LORD, “no one will dwell there; no man will
abide there.
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the
habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may
appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will
appoint me the time? and who is that
shepherd that will stand before me?
Behold, one will come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan to the watered pasture. For in an instant I will
chase Babylon from her land. Who is the chosen one I will
appoint for this? For who is like Me, and who can
challenge Me? What
shepherd can stand against Me?”
The LORD of hosts hath
sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a
shout against thee.
The LORD of Hosts has
sworn by Himself: “Surely I will fill you up with men as with locusts, and they will
shout in triumph
over you.”
Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
“Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, you who
devastate the whole earth, declares the LORD. I will stretch out My hand against you; I will roll you
over the cliffs and turn you into a
charred mountain.
The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.
The sea has come up
over Babylon; she is covered in
turbulent waves.
Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.
Then heaven and earth and all that is in them will
shout for joy
over Babylon because the destroyers from the north will come against her,” declares the LORD.
But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and
overtook Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.
but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and
overtook Zedekiah in the plains of
Jericho, and all his army was separated from him.
Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the
nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
On the tenth day of the fifth month, in the
nineteenth year of
Nebuchadnezzar’s reign
over Babylon, Nebuzaradan captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.
He took also out of the city an
eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were near the king’s person, which were found in the city; and the principal
scribe of the host, who
mustered the people of the land; and
threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.
Of those still in the city, he took a court official who had been appointed
over the men of war, as well as seven trusted royal advisers. He also took the
scribe of the captain of the army, who had
enlisted the people of the land, and sixty men who were found in the city.
Judah is gone into captivity because of
affliction, and because of great
servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors
overtook her between the straits.
Judah has gone into exile under
affliction and harsh slavery; she dwells among the nations but finds no place to rest. All her pursuers have
overtaken her in the midst of her distress.
From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me
desolate and
faint all the day.
He sent fire from on high, and it
overpowered my bones. He spread a net for my feet and turned me back. He made me
desolate,
faint all the day long.
The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are
wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
My transgressions are bound into a yoke,
knit together by His hand; they are
draped over my neck, and the Lord has broken my strength. He has delivered me into the hands of those I cannot
withstand.
Mine eyes do fail with tears, my
bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings
swoon in the streets of the city.
My eyes fail from
weeping; I am
churning within. My heart is poured out in grief
over the destruction of the daughter of my people, because children and infants
faint in the streets of the city.
The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not
pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy to
rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine
adversaries.
The LORD has done what He
planned; He has accomplished His decree, which He ordained in days of old; He has
overthrown you without
pity. He has let the enemy
gloat over you and
exalted the horn of your foes.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Streams of tears flow from my eyes over the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any
intermission,
Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
The waters flowed over my head, and I thought I was going to die.
Give them sorrow of heart, thy
curse unto them.
For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of
Sodom, that was
overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.
The punishment of the daughter of my people is greater than that of
Sodom, which was
overthrown in an instant without a hand turned to help her.
Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.
Those who
chased us were swifter than the eagles in the sky; they pursued us
over the mountains and
ambushed us in the wilderness.
Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to foreigners.
Servants have ruled
over us: there is none that
doth deliver us out of their hand.
Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hands.
Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up
over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise
alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose
alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
And the likeness of the
firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth
over their heads above.
Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of an
awesome expanse,
gleaming like crystal.
And there was a voice from the
firmament that was
over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
And there came a voice from above the
expanse over their heads as they stood still with their wings lowered.
And above the
firmament that was
over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a
sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Above the
expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of
sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man.
I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels
over against them, and a noise of a great
rushing.
It was the sound of the wings of the living creatures
brushing against one another and the sound of the wheels beside them, a great
rumbling sound.
Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-
abib, that dwelt by the river of
Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there
astonished among them seven days.
I came to the exiles at Tel-
abib who dwelt by the River Kebar. And for seven days I sat where they sat and remained there among them,
overwhelmed.
And thou shalt eat it as barley cakes, and thou shalt
bake it with dung that cometh out of man, in their sight.
And you shall eat the food as you would a barley
cake, after you
bake it
over dried human
excrement in the sight of the people.”
Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread
therewith.
“Look,” He replied, “I will let you use cow dung instead of human
excrement, and you may
bake your bread
over that.”
They shall also
gird themselves with
sackcloth, and
horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and
baldness upon all their heads.
They will put on
sackcloth, and terror will
overwhelm them. Shame will cover all their faces, and all their heads will be
shaved.
And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a
spoil; and they shall
pollute it.
And I will hand these things
over as
plunder to foreigners and
loot to the wicked of the earth, who will
defile them.
He
cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge
over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.
Then I heard Him call out in a loud voice, saying, “Draw near, O executioners of the city, each with a weapon of destruction in hand.”
And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that
sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
“Go throughout the city of Jerusalem,” said the LORD, “and put a mark on the foreheads of the men
sighing and
groaning over all the abominations committed there.”
Then I looked, and, behold, in the
firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared
over them as it were a
sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the
cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and
scatter them
over the city. And he went in in my sight.
And the LORD said to the man clothed in linen, “Go inside the
wheelwork beneath the
cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the
cherubim and
scatter them
over the city.” And as I watched, he went in.
Then the glory of the LORD went up from the
cherub, and stood
over the
threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’S glory.
Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the
cherubim and stood
over the
threshold of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD.
Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the
threshold of the house, and stood
over the cherubims.
Then the glory of the LORD moved away from the
threshold of the temple and stood above the
cherubim.
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
As I watched, the
cherubim lifted their wings and rose up from the ground, with the wheels beside them as they went. And they stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, with the glory of the God of Israel above them.
Then did the cherubims lift up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
Then the
cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
And the glory of the LORD rose up from within the city and stood over the mountain east of the city.
My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my
snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there.
But I will spread My net
over him, and he will be caught in My
snare. I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, and there he will die.
Say unto them which
daub it with untempered
morter, that it shall fall: there shall be an
overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a
stormy wind shall
rend it.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even
rend it with a
stormy wind in my
fury; and there shall be an
overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my
fury to
consume it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: In My wrath I will release a
windstorm, and in My anger torrents of rain and
hail will fall with destructive
fury.
Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my
skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness:
yea, I
sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.
Then I passed by and saw you, and you were indeed old enough for love. So I spread My
cloak over you and covered your nakedness. I
pledged Myself to you, entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine, declares the Lord GOD.
Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand
over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that
hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, which are
ashamed of thy
lewd way.
Therefore I stretched out My hand against you and reduced your portion. I gave you
over to the desire of those who
hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were
ashamed of your
lewd conduct.
Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister
Sodom, pride,
fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she
strengthen the hand of the poor and
needy.
Now this was the iniquity of your sister
Sodom: She and her daughters were
arrogant,
overfed, and
complacent; they did not help the poor and
needy.
And I will spread my net upon him, and he shall be taken in my
snare, and I will bring him to Babylon, and will
plead with him there for his
trespass that he hath
trespassed against me.
I will spread My net
over him and catch him in My
snare. I will bring him to Babylon and
execute judgment upon him there for the treason he committed against Me.
