Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
On account of this, the Jews demanded, “What sign can You show us to prove Your authority to do these things?”
Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot
see the kingdom of God.
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and
testify that we have
seen; and ye receive not our witness.
Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we
testify to what we have
seen, and yet you people do not accept our testimony.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
But
whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be
seen clearly that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”
And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony.
He testifies to what He has seen and heard, yet no one accepts His testimony.
He that believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not
see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.
Whoever rejects the Son will not
see life. Instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”
The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
“Sir,” the woman said, “I see that You are a prophet.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him.
And upon this came his disciples, and
marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What
seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
Just then His disciples returned and were surprised that He was speaking with a woman. But no one asked Him, “What do You want from her?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
Then when he was come into
Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having
seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
Yet when He arrived, the
Galileans welcomed Him. They had
seen all the great things He had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they had gone there as well.
Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “
See, you have been made well. Stop
sinning, or something worse may happen to you.”
Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he
seeth the Father do: for what things
soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
And the Father who sent Me has Himself
testified about Me. You have never heard His voice nor
seen His form,
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
How can you believe if you accept glory from one another, yet do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?
Then those men, when they had
seen the
miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
When the people saw the sign that Jesus had performed, they began to say, “Truly this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they
see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing
nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea—and they were
terrified.
When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to
Capernaum,
seeking for Jesus.
So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to
Capernaum to look for Him.
Jesus answered them and said,
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Ye
seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the
loaves, and were filled.
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it is not because you saw these signs that you are looking for Me, but because you
ate the
loaves and had your fill.
They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may
see, and believe thee? what
dost thou work?
So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do?
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which
seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have
everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
For it is My Father’s will that
everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
not that
anyone has
seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has
seen the Father.
What and if ye shall
see the Son of man
ascend up where he was before?
Then what will happen if you
see the Son of Man
ascend to where He was before?
His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
So Jesus’ brothers said to Him, “Leave here and go to
Judea, so that Your disciples there may
see the works You are doing.
For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself
seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things,
shew thyself to the world.
For no one who wants to be known publicly acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show
Yourself to the world.”
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
He who speaks on his own authority
seeks his own glory, but He who
seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is a man of truth; in Him there is no
falsehood.
Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
Then some of the people of Jerusalem began to say, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?
Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
What does He mean by saying, ‘You will look for Me, but you will not find Me,’ and, ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”
Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the
seed of David, and out of the town of
Bethlehem, where David was?
Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Christ will come from the line of David and from
Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”
They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of
Galilee? Search, and look: for out of
Galilee ariseth no prophet.
“Aren’t you also from
Galilee?” they replied. “Look into it, and you will
see that no prophet comes out of
Galilee.”
Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall
seek me, and shall die in your sins:
whither I go, ye cannot come.
Again He said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for Me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
They answered him, We be Abraham’s
seed, and were never in
bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
“We are Abraham’s descendants,” they answered. “We have never been slaves to
anyone. How can You say we will be set free?”
I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
I know you are Abraham’s descendants, but you are trying to kill Me because My word has no place within you.
I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
I speak of what I have seen in the presence of the Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
But now you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham never did such a thing.
And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
I do not seek My own glory. There is One who seeks it, and He is the Judge.
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never
see death.
Truly, truly, I tell you, if
anyone keeps My word, he will never
see death.”
Your father Abraham
rejoiced to
see my day: and he saw it, and was
glad.
Your father Abraham
rejoiced that he would
see My day. He saw it and was
glad.”
Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?”
And said unto him, Go, wash in the
pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came
seeing.
Then He told him, “Go, wash in the
Pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came back
seeing.
The neighbours therefore, and they which before had
seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and
begged?
At this, his neighbors and those who had formerly
seen him
begging began to ask, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and
beg?”
Then again the
Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do
see.
So the
Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. The man answered, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can
see.”
And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then
doth he now
see?
and asked, “Is this your son, the one you say was born blind? So how is it that he can now see?”
But by what means he now
seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
But how he can now see or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him. He is old enough to speak for himself.”
He answered and said, Whether he be a
sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I
see.
He answered, “Whether He is a
sinner I do not know. There is one thing I do know: I was blind, but now I
see!”
And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
“You have already seen Him,” Jesus answered. “He is the One speaking with you.”
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
Then Jesus declared, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind may see and those who see may become blind.”
Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
“If you were blind,” Jesus replied, “you would not be guilty of sin. But since you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”
But he that is an
hireling, and not the
shepherd, whose own the sheep are not,
seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
The
hired hand is not the
shepherd, and the sheep are not his own. When he
sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf pounces on them and scatters the flock.
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he
seeth the light of this world.
Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of
daylight? If
anyone walks in the
daytime, he will not
stumble, because he
sees by the light of this world.
And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
“Where have you put him?” He asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they answered.
Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
Then the Jews said, “See how He loved him!”
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”
Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
Therefore many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in Him.
Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might
see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews learned that Jesus was there. And they came not only because of Him, but also to
see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
Fear not, daughter of
Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an
ass’s
colt.
“Do not be afraid, O Daughter of
Zion.
See, your King is coming, seated on the
colt of a
donkey.”
The
Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
Then the
Pharisees said to one another, “You can
see that this is doing you no good. Look how the whole world has gone after Him!”
The same came therefore to Philip, which was of
Bethsaida of
Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would
see Jesus.
They came to Philip, who was from
Bethsaida in
Galilee, and requested of him, “Sir, we want to
see Jesus.”
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a
kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a
seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
He hath blinded their eyes, and
hardened their heart; that they should not
see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should
heal them.
“He has blinded their eyes and
hardened their hearts, so that they cannot
see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would
heal them.”
And
whoever sees Me
sees the One who sent Me.
Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall
seek me: and as I said unto the Jews,
Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
Little children, I am with you only a little while longer. You will look for Me, and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath
seen me hath
seen the Father; and how sayest thou then,
Shew us the Father?
Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me?
Anyone who has
seen Me has
seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it
seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
Yet a little while, and the world
seeth me no more; but ye
see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
In a little while the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live.
If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both
seen and
hated both me and my Father.
If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have
seen and
hated both Me and My Father.
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me;
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
In a little while you will see Me no more, and then after a little while you will see Me.”
Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
Then some of His disciples asked one another, “Why is He telling us, ‘In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?”
Now Jesus knew that they were
desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye
enquire among
yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not
see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall
see me?
Aware that they wanted to question Him, Jesus said to them, “Are you asking one another why I said, ‘In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me’?
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will
see you again, and your heart shall
rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
So also you have sorrow now, but I will
see you again and your hearts will
rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no
proverb.
His disciples said, “See, now You are speaking plainly and without figures of speech.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
Jesus, knowing all that was coming upon Him,
stepped forward and asked them, “Whom are you
seeking?”
Then asked he them again, Whom
seek ye? And they said, Jesus of
Nazareth.
So He asked them again, “Whom are you
seeking?” “Jesus of
Nazareth,” they answered.
Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
“I told you that I am He,” Jesus replied. “So if you are looking for Me, let these men go.”
One of the servants of the high priest, being his
kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I
see thee in the garden with him?
One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Didn’t I see you with Him in the garden?”
They said therefore among themselves, Let us not
rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my
raiment among them, and for my
vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
So they said to one another, “Let us not
tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to
see who will get it.” This was to
fulfill the Scripture: “They divided My garments among them, and cast lots for My clothing.” So that is what the soldiers did.
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the
sepulchre, and
seeth the stone taken away from the
sepulchre.
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the
sepulchre, and
seeth the linen clothes lie,
Simon Peter arrived just after him. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there.
And
seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had
lain.
and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had
lain, one at the head and the other at the feet.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
“Woman, why are you
weeping?” Jesus asked. “Whom are you
seeking?” Thinking He was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”
Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
Mary Magdalene went and
announced to the disciples, “I have
seen the Lord!” And she told them what He had said to her.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have
seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall
see in his hands the print of the
nails, and put my finger into the print of the
nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
So the other disciples told him, “We have
seen the Lord!” But he replied, “Unless I
see the
nail marks in His hands, and put my finger where the
nails have been, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe.”
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Then Peter, turning about,
seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also
leaned on his breast at
supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. He was the one who had
leaned back against Jesus at the
supper to ask, “Lord, who is going to
betray You?”
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
After His suffering, He presented Himself to them with many
convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a span of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
Which also said, Ye men of
Galilee, why stand ye
gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have
seen him go into heaven.
“Men of
Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have
seen Him go into heaven.”
For these are not
drunken, as ye suppose,
seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
These men are not
drunk, as you suppose. It is only the third hour of the day!
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall
see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will
prophesy, your young men will
see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
Because thou
wilt not leave my soul in
hell, neither
wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to
see corruption.
because You will not
abandon my soul to Hades, nor will You let Your Holy One
see decay.
He
seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in
hell, neither his flesh did
see corruption.
Foreseeing this, David spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did His body
see decay.
Therefore being by the right hand of God
exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now
see and hear.
Exalted, then, to the right hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now
see and hear.
Who
seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an
alms.
When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
