And the man
Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon
seeing the young man that he was
industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.
Now
Jeroboam was a mighty man of
valor. So when Solomon noticed that the young man was
industrious, he put him in charge of the whole labor force of the house of Joseph.
And I will for this
afflict the
seed of David, but not for ever.
Because of this, I will humble David’s descendants—but not
forever.’”
So when all Israel saw that the king
hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of
Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now
see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
When all Israel saw that the king had refused to
listen to them, they answered the king: “What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of
Jesse? To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David!” So the Israelites went home,
Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two
calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
After
seeking advice, the king made two golden
calves and said to the people, “Going up to Jerusalem is too much for you. Here, O Israel, are your gods, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”
And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
“Which way did he go?” their father asked. And his sons showed him the way taken by the man of God, who had come from Judah.
And
Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to
Shiloh, and came to the house of
Ahijah. But
Ahijah could not
see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.
There is a league between me and thee, and between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with
Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
“Let there be a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father.
See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with
Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
And
Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and
Elijah said,
See, thy son liveth.
Then
Elijah took the child, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. “Look, your son is alive,”
Elijah declared.
As the LORD thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom,
whither my lord hath not sent to
seek thee: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found thee not.
As surely as the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent someone to search for you. When they said, ‘He is not here,’ he made that kingdom or nation
swear that they had not found you.
And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a
trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of
seed.
And with the stones,
Elijah built an altar in the name of the LORD. Then he
dug a
trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of
seed.
And he said, I have been very
jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have
forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they
seek my life, to take it away.
“I have been very
zealous for the LORD, the God of Hosts,” he replied, “but the Israelites have
forsaken Your covenant,
torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I am the only one left, and they are
seeking my life as well.”
And he said, I have been very
jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have
forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they
seek my life, to take it away.
“I have been very
zealous for the LORD, the God of Hosts,” he replied, “but the Israelites have
forsaken Your covenant,
torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I am the only one left, and they are
seeking my life as well.”
Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.
Then the king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said, “Please take note and see that this man is looking for trouble, for when he demanded my wives, my children, my silver, and my gold, I did not deny him.”
And, behold, there came a prophet unto
Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou
seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
Meanwhile a prophet approached
Ahab king of Israel and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Do you
see this entire great army? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this very day, and you will know that I am the LORD.’”
And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go,
strengthen thyself, and mark, and
see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.
Afterward, the prophet approached the king of Israel and said, “Go and
strengthen your position, and take note what you must do, for in the spring the king of
Aram will come up against you.”
And
Ahab spake unto
Naboth, saying, Give me thy
vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better
vineyard than it; or, if it
seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.
So
Ahab said to
Naboth, “Give me your
vineyard to use as a vegetable garden, since it is next to my palace. I will give you a better
vineyard in its place—or if you
prefer, I will give you its value in silver.”
Arise, go down to meet
Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the
vineyard of
Naboth,
whither he is gone down to possess it.
“Get up and go down to meet
Ahab king of Israel, who is in Samaria.
See, he is in the
vineyard of
Naboth, of which he has gone to take possession.
Seest thou how
Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.
“Have you
seen how
Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the
calamity during his days, but I will bring it upon his house in the days of his son.”
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.
So you
see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced
disaster against you.”
And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt
see in that day, when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide
thyself.
Micaiah replied, “You will soon see, on that day when you go and hide in an inner room.”
And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
“You have requested a difficult thing,” said
Elijah. “Nevertheless, if you
see me as I am taken from you, it will be yours. But if not, then it will not be so.”
And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and
seek thy master: lest
peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
“Look now,” they said to
Elisha, “we your servants have fifty
valiant men. Please let them go and search for your master. Perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and put him on one of the mountains or in one of the valleys.” “Do not send them,”
Elisha replied.
And the men of the city said unto
Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord
seeth: but the water is
naught, and the ground barren.
Then the men of the city said to
Elisha, “Please note, our lord, that the city’s
location is good, as you can
see. But the water is bad and the land is unfruitful.”
And
Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor
see thee.
Then
Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not for my regard for the presence of
Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or acknowledge you.
For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’
And
Elisha came again to
Gilgal: and there was a
dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and
seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.
When
Elisha returned to
Gilgal, there was a famine in the land. As the sons of the prophets were sitting at his feet, he said to his
attendant, “Put on the large pot and
boil some
stew for the sons of the prophets.”
And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man
doth send unto me to recover a man of his
leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and
see how he
seeketh a quarrel against me.
When the king of Israel read the letter, he
tore his clothes and asked, “Am I God, killing and giving life, that this man expects me to cure a
leper? Surely you can
see that he is
seeking a quarrel with me!”
The
leprosy therefore of
Naaman shall
cleave unto thee, and unto thy
seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a
leper as white as snow.
And he said, Go and
spy where he is, that I may send and
fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
So the king said, “Go and
see where he is, that I may send men to capture him.” On receiving the report, “
Elisha is in Dothan,”
And
Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may
see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and
chariots of fire round about
Elisha.
Then
Elisha prayed, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may
see.” And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw that the hills were full of horses and
chariots of fire all around
Elisha.
And
Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye
seek. But he led them to Samaria.
And
Elisha told them, “This is not the way, and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are
seeking.” And he led them to Samaria.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that
Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may
see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
When they had entered Samaria,
Elisha said, “O LORD, open the eyes of these men that they may
see.” Then the LORD opened their eyes, and they looked around and discovered that they were in Samaria.
But
Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but
ere the
messenger came to him, he said to the elders,
See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the
messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
Now
Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a
messenger ahead, but before he arrived,
Elisha said to the elders, “Do you
see how this murderer has sent someone to cut off my head? Look, when the
messenger comes, shut the door to keep him out. Is not the sound of his master’s footsteps behind him?”
Then a lord on whose hand the king
leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt
see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
But the officer on whose arm the king
leaned answered the man of God, “Look, even if the LORD were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” “You will
see it with your own eyes,” replied
Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it.”
And one of his servants answered and said, Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed:) and let us send and see.
But one of his servants replied, “Please, have scouts take five of the horses that remain in the city. Their
plight will be no worse than all the Israelites who are left here. You can
see that all the Israelites here are
doomed. So let us send them and find out.”
They took therefore two
chariot horses; and the king sent after the host of the Syrians, saying, Go and
see.
Then the scouts took two
chariots with horses, and the king sent them after the
Aramean army, saying, “Go and
see.”
And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
And the officer had answered the man of God, “Look, even if the LORD were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” So
Elisha had replied, “You will
see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!”
And king
Joram went back to be
healed in
Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at
Ramah, when he fought against
Hazael king of Syria. And
Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to
see Joram the son of
Ahab in
Jezreel, because he was sick.
So King
Joram returned to
Jezreel to recover from the wounds that the Arameans had inflicted on him at
Ramah when he fought against
Hazael king of
Aram. Then
Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to
Jezreel to visit
Joram son of
Ahab, because
Joram had been wounded.
And there stood a
watchman on the tower in
Jezreel, and he
spied the company of
Jehu as he came, and said, I
see a company. And
Joram said, Take an
horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
Now the
watchman standing on the tower in
Jezreel saw
Jehu’s troops approaching, and he called out, “I
see a company of troops!” “Choose a rider,”
Joram commanded. “Send him out to meet them and ask, ‘Have you come in peace?’”
Surely I have
seen yesterday the blood of
Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the LORD; and I will requite thee in this
plat, saith the LORD. Now therefore take and cast him into the
plat of ground, according to the word of the LORD.
‘As surely as I saw the blood of
Naboth and the blood of his sons
yesterday, declares the LORD, so will I repay you on this plot of ground, declares the LORD.’ Now then, according to the word of the LORD,
pick him up and throw him on the plot of ground.”
And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go,
see now this
cursed woman, and
bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.
Then
Jehu went in and
ate and
drank. “Take care of this
cursed woman,” he said, “and
bury her, for she was the daughter of a king.”
Now as soon as this letter cometh to you,
seeing your master’s sons are with you, and there are with you
chariots and horses, a
fenced city also, and armour;
“When this letter arrives, since your master’s sons are with you and you have
chariots and horses, a fortified city and
weaponry,
And he said, Come with me, and
see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him
ride in his
chariot.
saying, “Come with me and
see my zeal for the LORD!” So he had him
ride in his
chariot.
Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of
Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to
Baal;
whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But
Jehu did it in
subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of
Baal.
Now, therefore,
summon to me all the prophets of
Baal, all his servants, and all his priests.
See that no one is missing, for I have a great sacrifice for
Baal.
Whoever is missing will not live.” But
Jehu was acting
deceptively in order to destroy the servants of
Baal.
And
Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of
Baal, and said unto the worshippers of
Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of
Baal only.
Next,
Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab entered the temple of
Baal, and
Jehu said to the servants of
Baal, “Look around to
see that there are no servants of the LORD here among you—only servants of
Baal.”
And when
Athaliah the mother of
Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the
seed royal.
And king
Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king
Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the
workmanship thereof.
Then King
Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria. On
seeing the altar in Damascus, King
Ahaz sent Uriah the priest a model of the altar and complete plans for its construction.
And king
Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king’s burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and
sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the
brasen altar shall be for me to
enquire by.
Then King
Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, “Offer on the great altar the morning burnt offering, the evening grain offering, and the king’s burnt offering and grain offering, as well as the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings of all the people of the land.
Sprinkle on the altar all the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar to
seek guidance.”
Yet the LORD
testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the
seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
Yet through all His prophets and
seers, the LORD
warned Israel and Judah, saying, “Turn from your wicked ways and keep My commandments and statutes, according to the entire Law that I commanded your fathers and delivered to you through My servants the prophets.”
And the LORD rejected all the
seed of Israel, and
afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
So the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel. He
afflicted them and delivered them into the hands of plunderers, until He had banished them from His presence.
LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and
see: and hear the words of
Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.
Turn again, and tell
Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have
seen thy tears: behold, I will
heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
“Go back and tell
Hezekiah the leader of My people that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have
seen your tears. I will surely
heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the house of the LORD.
And he said, What have they
seen in thine house? And
Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they
seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
“What have they
seen in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have
seen everything in my palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
‘Therefore I will indeed gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not
see all the
calamity that I will bring on this place.’” So they brought her answer back to the king.
Then he said, What title is that that I
see? And the men of the city told him, It is the
sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of
Bethel.
Then the king asked, “What is this monument I
see?” And the men of the city replied, “It is the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and pronounced these things that you have done to the altar of
Bethel.”
Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were
spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did
Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.
Furthermore,
Josiah removed the mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, and all the abominations that were
seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this to carry out the words of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the LORD.
In his days Pharaoh-nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king
Josiah went against him; and he
slew him at
Megiddo, when he had
seen him.
At the end of
Josiah’s reign, Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt marched up to help the king of Assyria at the Euphrates River. King
Josiah went out to
confront him, but Neco faced him and killed him at
Megiddo.
But it came to pass in the seventh month, that
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the
seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and
smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at
Mizpah.
In the seventh month, however,
Ishmael son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, who was a member of the royal family, came with ten men and struck down and killed Gedaliah, along with the Judeans and Chaldeans who were with him at
Mizpah.
And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
and they journeyed to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, in search of pasture for their flocks.
All these which were chosen to be
porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by their
genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the
seer did
ordain in their set office.
The number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by
genealogy in their villages. David and Samuel the
seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.
And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come
peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be
knit unto you: but if ye be come to
betray me to mine enemies,
seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look
thereon, and
rebuke it.
And David went out to meet them, saying, “If you have come to me in peace to help me, my heart will be united with you; but if you have come to
betray me to my enemies when my hands are free of violence, may the God of our fathers
see it and judge you.”
And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:
And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.
And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.
And when the Philistines heard that David was
anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to
seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
When the Philistines heard that David had been
anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them
rejoice that
seek the LORD.
Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who
seek the LORD
rejoice.
Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.
Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
O offspring of His servant Israel, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
And it shall come to pass, when thy days be
expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy
seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
And when your days are fulfilled and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your
descendant after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
And the LORD spake unto
Gad, David’s
seer, saying,
And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the
threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.
Ornan said to David, “My lord the king may take whatever
seems good. Look, I will give the oxen for the burnt offerings, the
threshing sledges for the wood, and the wheat for the grain offering—I will give it all.”
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
All these were the sons of Heman the king’s
seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
All these sons of Heman the king’s
seer were given him through the promises of God to
exalt him, for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
And all that Samuel the
seer, and Saul the son of
Kish, and
Abner the son of
Ner, and
Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and
whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
Everything that had been dedicated by Samuel the
seer, Saul son of
Kish,
Abner son of
Ner, and
Joab son of Zeruiah, along with everything else that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the
audience of our God, keep and
seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, keep and
seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God, so that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants
forever.
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou
seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou
forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands the intent of every thought. If you
seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, He will
reject you
forever.
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I know, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly and with an upright heart, and now I have
seen Your people who are present here giving
joyfully and willingly to You.
Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the
seer, and in the book of
Nathan the prophet, and in the book of
Gad the
seer,
Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are indeed written in the Chronicles of Samuel the
Seer, the Chronicles of
Nathan the Prophet, and the Chronicles of
Gad the
Seer,
But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
But who is able to build a house for Him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain Him? Who then am I, that I should build a house for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before Him?
And they drew out the
staves of the ark, that the ends of the
staves were
seen from the ark before the
oracle; but they were not
seen without. And there it is unto this day.
The poles of the ark extended far enough that their ends were visible from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are there to this day.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will
heal their land.
and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and
seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
forgive their sin, and
heal their land.
And when the queen of
Sheba had
seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
When the queen of
Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, the palace he had built,
Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had
seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
But I did not believe the reports until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not half of the greatness of your wisdom was told to me. You have far exceeded the report I heard.
And the king made of the
algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king’s palace, and harps and
psalteries for singers: and there were none such
seen before in the land of Judah.
The king made the
algum wood into steps for the house of the LORD and for the king’s palace, and into lyres and harps for the singers. Never before had anything like them been
seen in the land of Judah.)
Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of
Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of
Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of
Iddo the
seer against
Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
As for the rest of the acts of Solomon, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Records of
Nathan the Prophet, in the Prophecy of
Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the Visions of
Iddo the
Seer concerning
Jeroboam son of Nebat?
And when all Israel saw that the king would not
hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and we have none inheritance in the son of
Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel: and now, David,
see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.
When all Israel saw that the king had refused to
listen to them, they answered the king: “What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of
Jesse? To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David!” So all the Israelites went home,
And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.
Those from every tribe of Israel who had set their hearts to seek the LORD their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.
And
Rehoboam did evil because he did not set his heart to
seek the LORD.
Now the acts of
Rehoboam, from first to last, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the Prophet and of
Iddo the
Seer concerning the
genealogies? There was war between
Rehoboam and
Jeroboam throughout their days.
And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
He commanded the people of Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandments.
And he went out to meet
Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me,
Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye
seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye
forsake him, he will
forsake you.
So he went out to meet
Asa and said to him, “
Listen to me,
Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you
seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you
forsake Him, He will
forsake you.
And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.
That
whosoever would not
seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
And
whoever would not
seek the LORD, the God of Israel, would be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.
There is a league between me and thee, as there was between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent thee silver and gold; go, break thy league with
Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
“Let there be a treaty between me and you, between my father and your father.
See, I have sent you silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with
Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
And at that time Hanani the
seer came to
Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast
relied on the king of Syria, and not
relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
At that time Hanani the
seer came to King
Asa of Judah and told him, “Because you have
relied on the king of
Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of
Aram has escaped from your hand.
Then
Asa was
wroth with the
seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a
rage with him because of this thing. And
Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
And
Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
In the thirty-ninth year of his reign,
Asa became diseased in his feet, and his
malady became increasingly severe. Yet even in his illness he did not
seek the LORD, but only the physicians.
And the LORD was with
Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto
Baalim;
Now the LORD was with
Jehoshaphat because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not
seek out the Baals,
Then he said, I did
see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no
shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.
So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a
shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
So you
see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced
disaster against you.”
