sheep, and
cheese of
kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is
hungry, and
weary, and
thirsty, in the wilderness.

sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these
sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.

shepherd, have

sheep, what have they done? Please, let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s house.”

fattened calves, and
sheep, and has invited all the other sons of the king, as well as
Abiathar the priest and
Joab the commander of the army. But he did not
invite your servant Solomon.
For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and

fattened calves, and
sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, the commanders of the army, and

fatted fowl.

chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and
sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
But
Elisha questioned him, “Did not my spirit go with you when the man got down from his
chariot to meet you? Is this the time to accept money and clothing, olive groves and vineyards,
sheep and oxen, menservants and maidservants?

sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of
asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.

livestock of the Hagrites—50,000 camels, 250,000
sheep, and 2,000
donkeys. They also took 100,000
captives,

nether, and the upper, and Uzzen-sherah.)
His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth-horon, as well as Uzzen-sheerah.
Moreover they that were
nigh them, even unto
Issachar and
Zebulun and
Naphtali, brought bread on
asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of
raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and
sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.
And their neighbors from as far away as
Issachar,
Zebulun, and
Naphtali came bringing food on
donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen—abundant supplies of flour, fig cakes and
raisin cakes, wine and oil, oxen and
sheep. Indeed, there was joy in Israel.
Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the
sheepcote, even from following the
sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:
Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have
sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these
sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
And David said to God, “Was it not I who gave the order to count the people? I am the one who has

sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to

Ahab in Samaria, where
Ahab sacrificed many
sheep and cattle for him and the people with him, and urged him to march up to
Ramoth-

sheep: and a great number of priests
sanctified themselves.
For
Hezekiah king of Judah contributed a thousand bulls and seven thousand
sheep for the assembly, and the officials contributed a thousand bulls and ten thousand
sheep for the assembly, and a great number of priests consecrated themselves.
And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the
tithe of oxen and
sheep, and the
tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps.
And the Israelites and Judahites who lived in the cities of Judah also brought a
tithe of their herds and flocks and a
tithe of the holy things consecrated to the LORD their God, and they laid them in large heaps.

Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the
sheep gate; they
sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they
sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.
At the
Sheep Gate, Eliashib the high priest and his fellow priests began rebuilding. They dedicated it and
installed its doors. After building as far as the Tower of the Hundred and the Tower of Hananel, they dedicated the wall.
And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.

Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice
sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the
bondage was heavy upon this people.
Each day one ox, six choice
sheep, and some fowl were prepared for me, and once every ten days an abundance of all kinds of wine was provided. But I did not demand the food
allotted to the governor, because the burden on the people was so heavy.
And from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the prison gate.
over the Gate of Ephraim, the Jeshanah Gate, the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel, and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate. And they stopped at the Gate of the Guard.
His substance also was seven thousand
sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she
asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
and he owned 7,000
sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female
donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man of all the people of the East.
While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
While he was still speaking, another
messenger came and reported: “The fire of God fell from heaven. It burned and consumed the
sheep and the servants, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
But now they that are younger than I have me in
derision, whose fathers I would have
disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.
“But now they
mock me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to
entrust with my
sheep dogs.
If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the
fleece of my
sheep;
if his heart has not blessed me for warming him with the
fleece of my
sheep,
So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand
sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she
asses.
So the LORD blessed Job’s latter days more than his first. He owned 14,000
sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female
donkeys.
All
sheep and oxen,
yea, and the beasts of the field;
all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,
Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
You have given us up as
sheep to be
devoured; You have scattered us among the nations.
Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as
sheep for the slaughter.
Yet for Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
Like
sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall
consume in the grave from their dwelling.
Like
sheep they are destined for
Sheol. Death will be their
shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in
Sheol, far from their lofty abode.
Though ye have
lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a
dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
Though you lie down among the
sheepfolds, the wings of the
dove are covered with silver, and her feathers with
shimmering gold.”
O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why
doth thine anger smoke against the
sheep of thy pasture?
Why have You rejected us
forever, O God? Why does Your anger
smolder against the
sheep of Your pasture?
But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
He led out His people like sheep and guided them like a flock in the wilderness.
He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds;
So we thy people and
sheep of thy pasture will give thee
thanks for ever: we will
shew forth thy praise to all generations.
Then we Your people, the
sheep of Your pasture, will
thank You
forever; from generation to generation we will declare Your praise.
For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the
sheep under His care.
Today, if you hear His voice,
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
I have gone
astray like a lost
sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not
forget thy commandments.
I have
strayed like a lost
sheep; seek Your servant, for I have not forgotten Your commandments.
That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields.
Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at
noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
Tell me, O one I love, where do you pasture your
sheep? Where do you rest them at
midday? Why should I be like a
veiled woman beside the flocks of your companions?
Thy teeth are like a flock of
sheep that are even
shorn, which came up from the washing;
whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.
Your teeth are like a flock of newly
shorn sheep coming up from the washing; each has its
twin, and not one of them is lost.
Thy teeth are as a flock of
sheep which go up from the washing,
whereof every one beareth twins, and there is not one barren among them.
Your teeth are like a flock of
sheep coming up from the washing; each has its
twin, and not one of them is lost.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall
nourish a young cow, and two
sheep;
On that day a man will raise a young cow and two sheep,
And on all hills that shall be
digged with the
mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the
treading of lesser cattle.
For fear of the briers and thorns, you will no longer
traverse the hills once tilled by the
hoe; they will become places for oxen to
graze and
sheep to
trample.
And it shall be as the
chased roe, and as a
sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and
flee every one into his own land.
Like a
hunted gazelle, like a
sheep without a
shepherd, each will return to his own people, each will
flee to his native land.
And behold joy and
gladness,
slaying oxen, and killing
sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to
morrow we shall die.
But look, there is joy and
gladness,
butchering of cattle and slaughtering of
sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine: “Let us eat and drink, for
tomorrow we die!”
And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the
vail that is spread over all nations.
On this mountain He will
swallow up the
shroud that enfolds all peoples, the
sheet that covers all nations;
From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a
vexation only to understand the report.
As often as it passes through, it will carry you away; it will
sweep through morning after morning, by day and by night.” The understanding of this message will bring
sheer terror.
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor
wearied thee with incense.
You have not brought Me
sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor
wearied you with
frankincense.
All we like
sheep have gone
astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
We all like
sheep have gone
astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.
He was
oppressed, and he was
afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a
sheep before her shearers is
dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
He was
oppressed and
afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a
sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth.
But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
But You know me, O LORD; You see me and test my heart toward You.
Drag away the wicked like
sheep to the slaughter and set them apart for the day of
carnage.
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?
Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and
scatter the
sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
My people hath been lost
sheep: their
shepherds have caused them to go
astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.
My people are lost
sheep; their
shepherds have led them
astray, causing them to
roam the mountains. They have
wandered from mountain to hill; they have forgotten their resting place.
Israel is a scattered
sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath
devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
Israel is a scattered flock,
chased away by lions. The first to
devour him was the king of Assyria; the last to
crush his bones was
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.”
And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the
Ammonites a couchingplace for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels, and
Ammon a resting place for
sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’
Ye eat the fat, and ye
clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock.
You eat the fat, wear the wool, and
butcher the
fattened sheep, but you do not feed the flock.
My
sheep wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My flock went
astray on all the mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them out.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and seek them out.
As a
shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his
sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my
sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the
cloudy and dark day.
As a
shepherd looks for his scattered
sheep when he is among the flock, so I will look for My flock. I will
rescue them from all the places to which they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.
And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.
This is what the Lord GOD says to you, My flock: ‘I will judge between one sheep and another, between the rams and the goats.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the
lean cattle.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says to them: ‘Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat
sheep and the
lean sheep.
Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
I will save My flock, and they will no longer be prey. I will judge between one sheep and another.
And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord GOD.
‘You are My flock, the sheep of My pasture, My people, and I am your God,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
And one lamb out of the flock, out of two hundred, out of the fat pastures of Israel; for a meat offering, and for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for them, saith the Lord GOD.
And one
sheep shall be given from each flock of two hundred from the well-watered pastures of Israel. These are for the grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make
atonement for the people, declares the Lord GOD.
And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
Jacob fled to the land of
Aram and Israel worked for a wife— for a wife he tended
sheep.
How do the beasts
groan! the herds of cattle are
perplexed, because they have no pasture;
yea, the flocks of
sheep are made
desolate.
How the cattle
groan! The herds
wander in confusion because they have no pasture. Even the flocks of
sheep are suffering.
The words of
Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of
Jeroboam the son of
Joash king of Israel, two years before the
earthquake.
These are the words of
Amos, who was among the
sheepherders of Tekoa—what he saw concerning Israel two years before the
earthquake, in the days when Uzziah was king of Judah and
Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel.
I will surely
assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the
remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the
sheep of
Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the
remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like
sheep in a pen, like a flock in the midst of its pasture— a
noisy throng.
And the
remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of
sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
Then the
remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of
sheep, which tramples and tears as it passes through, with no one to
rescue them.
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the
sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for
shepherds, and folds for flocks.
So the
seacoast will become a land of pastures, with wells for
shepherds and folds for
sheep.
For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no
shepherd.
For idols speak
deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore the people
wander like
sheep,
oppressed for lack of a
shepherd.
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice
sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
Awake, O sword, against my
shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts:
smite the
shepherd, and the
sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.
Awake, O sword, against My
Shepherd, against the man who is My Companion, declares the LORD of Hosts. Strike the
Shepherd, and the
sheep will be scattered, and I will turn My hand against the little ones.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in
sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are
ravening wolves.
Beware of false prophets. They come to you in
sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are
ravenous wolves.
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with
compassion on them, because they
fainted, and were scattered abroad, as
sheep having no
shepherd.
When He saw the crowds, He was moved with
compassion for them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like
sheep without a
shepherd.
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
Behold, I send you forth as
sheep in the midst of
wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and
harmless as doves.
Behold, I am sending you out like
sheep among
wolves; therefore be as
shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
He replied, “If one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?
How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
How think ye? if a man have an hundred
sheep, and one of them be gone
astray,
doth he not leave the
ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone
astray?
What do you think? If a man has a hundred
sheep and one of them goes
astray, will he not leave the
ninety-nine on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?
And if so be that he find it,
verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that
sheep, than of the
ninety and nine which went not
astray.
And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he rejoices more over that one
sheep than over the
ninety-nine that did not go
astray.
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a
shepherd divideth his
sheep from the goats:
All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another, as a
shepherd separates the
sheep from the goats.
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
He will place the sheep on His right and the goats on His left.
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be
offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will
smite the
shepherd, and the
sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Then Jesus said to them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of Me. For it is written: ‘I will strike the
Shepherd, and the
sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with
compassion toward them, because they were as
sheep not having a
shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
When Jesus
stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had
compassion on them, because they were like
sheep without a
shepherd. And He began to teach them many things.
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be
offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will
smite the
shepherd, and the
sheep shall be scattered.
Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written: ‘I will strike the
Shepherd, and the
