Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to
endure, until I come unto my lord unto
Seir.
Please let my lord go
ahead of his servant. I will continue on
slowly, at a comfortable
pace for the
livestock and children, until I come to my lord at
Seir.”
And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not
eloquent, neither
heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am
slow of speech, and of a
slow tongue.
“Please, Lord,” Moses replied, “I have never been
eloquent, neither in the past nor since You have spoken to Your servant, for I am
slow of speech and tongue.”
And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God,
merciful and
gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: “The LORD, the LORD God, is
compassionate and
gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness,
The LORD is
longsuffering, and of great mercy,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
‘The LORD is
slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion,
forgiving iniquity and
transgression. Yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generation.’
When thou shalt
vow a
vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not
slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.
If you make a
vow to the LORD your God, do not be
slow to keep it, because He will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin.
Then she
saddled an
ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward;
slack not thy riding for me, except I
bid thee.
And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou
didst among them; but
hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their
bondage: but thou art a God ready to
pardon,
gracious and
merciful,
slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.
They refused to
listen and failed to remember the wonders You performed among them. They
stiffened their necks and appointed a leader to return them to their
bondage in Egypt. But You are a
forgiving God,
gracious and
compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in loving devotion, and You did not
forsake them.
But You, O Lord, are a
compassionate and
gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness.
He that is
slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is
hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man promotes folly.
A wrathful man stirreth up
strife: but he that is
slow to anger appeaseth
strife.
A hot-tempered man stirs up
strife, but he who is
slow to anger calms dispute.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
He who is
slow to anger is better than a
warrior, and he who controls his temper is greater than one who captures a city.
What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
What can I say? He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done this. I will walk
slowly all my years because of the
anguish of my soul.
And
rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is
gracious and
merciful,
slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
So
rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God. For He is
gracious and
compassionate,
slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion. And He relents from sending
disaster.
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto
Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a
gracious God, and
merciful,
slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
So he prayed to the LORD, saying, “O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to
flee toward
Tarshish. I knew that You are a
gracious and
compassionate God,
slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending
disaster.
The LORD is
slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all
acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The LORD is
slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the
whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Then Jesus said to them, “O
foolish ones, how
slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
And when we had sailed
slowly many days, and
scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under
Crete, over against Salmone;
After sailing
slowly for many days, we arrived off Cnidus. When the wind
impeded us, we sailed to the
lee of
Crete, opposite Salmone.
One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are
alway liars, evil beasts,
slow bellies.
As one of their own prophets has said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts,
lazy gluttons.”
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
My beloved brothers, understand this:
Everyone should be quick to
listen,
slow to speak, and
slow to anger,
The Lord is not
slow in keeping His promise as some understand
slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting
anyone to perish but
everyone to come to
repentance.
For they counted all the idols of the heathen to be gods: which neither have the use of eyes to see, nor noses to draw breath, nor ears to hear, nor fingers of hands to handle; and as for their feet, they are slow to go.
Be not slow to visit the sick: for that shall make thee to be beloved.
Again, there is another that is slow, and hath need of help, wanting ability, and full of poverty; yet the eye of the Lord looked upon him for good, and set him up from his low estate,
Wherefore are ye
slow, and what say ye to these things, seeing your souls are very
thirsty?
