Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Samaritan, and hast a devil?
The Jews answered Him, “Are we not right to say that You are a
Samaritan and You have a
demon?”

“Now we know that You have a
demon!” declared the Jews. “Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet You say that
anyone who keeps Your word will never taste death.

And said unto him, Go, wash in the
pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

hireling, and not the
shepherd, whose own the sheep are not,
seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
The
hired hand is not the
shepherd, and the sheep are not his own. When he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.
Then the wolf pounces on them and scatters the flock.
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one
shepherd.
I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them in as well, and they will
listen to My voice.
Then there will be one flock and one
shepherd.
Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long
dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
So the Jews gathered around Him and demanded, “How long will You keep us in
suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
At this, the Jews again

Say ye of him, whom the Father hath
sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
then what about the One whom the Father
sanctified and sent into the world? How
then can you
accuse Me of
blasphemy for stating that I am the Son of God?

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
The Jews
then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up
hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to
weep there.
When the Jews who were in the house
consoling Mary saw how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to
mourn there.
Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

thank You that You have heard Me.

These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was
glorified,
then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
At first His disciples did not understand these things, but after Jesus was
glorified they remembered what had been done to Him, and they realized that these very things had also been written about Him.
The
Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

glorified it, and will
glorify it again.

Whoever believes in Me does not believe in Me alone, but in the One who sent Me.

dost thou wash my feet?
He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”
Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not only my feet, but my hands and my head as well!”
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.
Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
Leaning back against Jesus, he asked, “Lord, who is it?”
Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a
sop, when I have
dipped it. And when he had
dipped the
sop, he gave it to
Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
And after the
sop Satan entered into him.
Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
And when
Judas had taken the
morsel,
Satan entered into him.
Then Jesus said to
Judas, “What you are about to do, do quickly.”
He
then having received the
sop went immediately out: and it was night.
As soon as he had received the
morsel,
Judas went out into the night.
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou
then,
Shew us the Father?
Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me?
Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
In a little while you will see Me no more, and then after a little while you will see Me.”
Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
Then some of His disciples asked one another, “Why is He telling us, ‘In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?”
Now Jesus knew that they were
desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye
enquire among
yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
Aware that they wanted to question Him, Jesus said to them, “Are you asking one another why I said, ‘In a little while you will not see Me, and then after a little while you will see Me’?
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and
Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
So
Judas brought a band of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and
Pharisees. They arrived at the garden carrying lanterns, torches, and weapons.
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
When Jesus said, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of
Nazareth.
So He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?” “Jesus of
Nazareth,” they answered.
Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and
smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.

Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the
sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
“Put your sword back in its
sheath!” Jesus said to Peter. “Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given Me?”
Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus, and bound him,
Then the band of soldiers, with its commander and the officers of the Jews, arrested Jesus and bound Him.
But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter.
But Peter stood outside at the door.
Then the disciple who was known to the high priest went out and spoke to the
doorkeeper, and brought Peter in.
Then saith the
damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith, I am not.
At this, the servant
girl watching the door said to Peter, “Aren’t you also one of this man’s disciples?” “I am not,” he answered.
The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and His teaching.
Peter
then denied again: and immediately the
cock crew.
Then led they Jesus from
Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be
defiled; but that they might eat the
passover.
Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What
accusation bring ye against this man?
So
Pilate went out to them and asked, “What
accusation are you bringing against this man?”
Then said
Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
“You take Him and judge Him by your own law,”
Pilate told them. “We are not permitted to
execute anyone,” the Jews replied.
Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
Pilate went back into the
Praetorium, summoned Jesus, and asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world; if it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now My kingdom is not of this realm.”
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king
then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
“
Then You are a king!”
Pilate said. “You say that I am a king,” Jesus answered. “For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to
testify to the truth.
Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to My voice.”
But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the
passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
But it is your custom that I release to you one prisoner at the
Passover. So
then, do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”
Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a
robber.
Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple
robe. And
Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple
robe,
Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”
Then saith
Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to
crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
So
Pilate said to Him, “Do You refuse to speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You and authority to
crucify You?”
And from
thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews
cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend:
whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
From
then on,
Pilate tried to release Him, but the Jews kept
shouting, “If you release this man, you are no friend of Caesar.
Anyone who declares himself a king is
defying Caesar.”
Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be
crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
Then Pilate handed Jesus over to be
crucified, and the soldiers took Him away.
This title
then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was
crucified was
nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
Many of the Jews read this sign, because the place where Jesus was
crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.
Then said the chief priests of the Jews to
Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
So the chief priests of the Jews said to
Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but only that He said, ‘I am the King of the Jews.’”
Then the soldiers, when they had
crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without
seam,
woven from the top throughout.
When the soldiers had
crucified Jesus, they divided His garments into four parts, one for each soldier, with the
tunic remaining. It was
seamless,
woven in one piece from top to bottom.
Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Then He said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” So from that hour, this disciple took her into his home.
Then came the soldiers, and
brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was
crucified with him.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man who had been
crucified with Jesus, and those of the other.
Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to
bury.
So they took the body of Jesus and
wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.
Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the
sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,” she said, “and we do not know where they have put Him!”
Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the
sepulchre.
Then Peter and the other disciple set out for the tomb.
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the
sepulchre, and
seeth the linen clothes lie,
Simon Peter arrived just after him. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there.
Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the
sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. And he saw and believed.
Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
Then the disciples returned to their homes.
Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
It was the first day of the week, and that very evening, while the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you!” He said to them.
