But
think on me when it shall be well with thee, and
shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
But when it goes well for you, please remember me and show me kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh, that he might bring me out of this prison.
This is the thing which the LORD
doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they
think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.
This is what the LORD has commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry
anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father.
Then ye answered and said unto me, We have
sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had
girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
“We have
sinned against the LORD,” you replied. “We will go up and fight, as the LORD our God has commanded us.” Then each of you put on his weapons of war,
thinking it easy to go up into the hill country.
Then answered the five men that went to
spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an
ephod, and
teraphim, and a
graven image, and a
molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.
Then the five men who had gone to
spy out the land of Laish said to their brothers, “Did you know that one of these houses has an
ephod, household gods, a
graven image, and a
molten idol? Now
think about what you should do.”
And it was so, that all that saw it said, There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt unto this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak your minds.
And
everyone who saw it said, “Nothing like this has been seen or done from the day the Israelites came out of the land of Egypt until this day.
Think it over, take counsel, and speak up!”
And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good;
tarry until thou have
weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son
suck until she
weaned him.
“Do what you
think is best,” her husband Elkanah replied, “and stay here until you have
weaned him. Only may the LORD
confirm His word.” So
Hannah stayed and
nursed her son until she had
weaned him.
And Saul cast the
javelin; for he said, I will
smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
and he
hurled it,
thinking, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David
eluded him twice.
And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou
valiant for me, and fight the LORD’S battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.
Then Saul said to David, “Here is my older daughter Merab. I will give her to you in marriage. Only be
valiant for me and fight the LORD’s battles.” But Saul was
thinking, “I need not raise my hand against him; let the hand of the Philistines be against him.”
And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to
abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
So Achish trusted David,
thinking, “Since he has made himself an utter
stench to his people Israel, he will be my servant
forever.”
When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead,
thinking to have brought good
tidings, I took hold of him, and
slew him in
Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his
tidings:
when someone told me, ‘Look, Saul is dead,’ and thought he was a bearer of good news, I seized him and put him to death at
Ziklag. That was his reward for his news!
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the
lame, thou shalt not come in
hither:
thinking, David cannot come in
hither.
Now the king and his men marched to Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the land. The Jebusites said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the blind and
lame can
repel you.” For they thought, “David cannot get in here.”
And the princes of the children of
Ammon said unto Hanun their lord,
Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to
spy it out, and to overthrow it?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun their lord, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Has not David instead sent his servants to
explore the city,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king’s sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of
Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
But Jonadab, the son of David’s brother Shimeah, spoke up: “My lord must not
think they have killed all the sons of the king, for only Amnon is dead. In fact,
Absalom has
planned this since the day Amnon
violated his sister Tamar.
Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king’s sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.
So now, my lord the king, do not take to heart the report that all the sons of the king are dead. Only Amnon is dead.”
And the
watchman said, Me
thinketh the running of the foremost is like the running of
Ahimaaz the son of
Zadok. And the king said, He is a good man, and cometh with good
tidings.
The
watchman said, “The first man appears to me to be running like
Ahimaaz son of
Zadok.” “This is a good man,” said the king. “He comes with good news.”
So
Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or
wilt thou
flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’
pestilence in thy land? now
advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
So
Gad went and said to David, “Do you choose to
endure three years of famine in your land, three months of
fleeing the pursuit of your enemies, or three days of plague upon your land? Now then,
think it over and decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
Then the man of God approached the king of Israel and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Because the Arameans think the LORD is a god of the hills and not of the valleys, I will deliver all this great army into your hand. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now
shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be
hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.
So the king got up in the night and said to his servants, “Let me tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know we are
starving, so they have left the camp to hide in the field,
thinking, ‘When they come out of the city, we will take them alive and enter the city.’”
But the princes of the children of
Ammon said to Hanun,
Thinkest thou that David
doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to
spy out the land?
the princes of the
Ammonites said to Hanun, “Just because David has sent you comforters, do you really believe he is showing respect for your father? Have not his servants come to you to
explore the land,
spy it out, and overthrow it?”
And now ye
think to
withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden
calves, which
Jeroboam made you for gods.
And now you
think you can resist the kingdom of the LORD, which is in the hands of David’s descendants. You are indeed a vast army, and you have with you the golden
calves that
Jeroboam made for you as gods.
Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
Remember me
favorably, O my God, for all that I have done for this people.
Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews
think to
rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
that read: “It is reported among the nations—and Geshem agrees—that you and the Jews are
plotting to revolt, and this is why you are building the wall. According to these reports, you are to become their king,
My God,
think thou upon
Tobiah and
Sanballat according to these their works, and on the
prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
Then
Mordecai commanded to answer
Esther,
Think not with
thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
he sent back to her this reply: “Do not imagine that because you are in the king’s palace you alone will escape the fate of all the Jews.
When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and
fro unto the
dawning of the day.
When I lie down I
think: ‘When will I get up?’ But the night drags on, and I
toss and turn until
dawn.
When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my
couch shall ease my
complaint;
When I
think my bed will comfort me and my
couch will ease my
complaint,
The eye also of the
adulterer waiteth for the
twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.
The eye of the
adulterer watches for
twilight.
Thinking, ‘No eye will see me,’ he covers his face.
I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I
think upon a
maid?
“I have made a covenant with my eyes. How then could I
gaze with desire at a virgin?
Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
“Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am more righteous than God.’
He maketh a path to
shine after him; one would
think the deep to be
hoary.
He leaves a
glistening wake behind him; one would
think the deep had white hair!
But I am poor and
needy; yet the Lord
thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no
tarrying, O my God.
But I am poor and
needy; may the Lord
think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay.
When I remember thee upon my bed, and
meditate on thee in the night watches.
When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.
LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him?
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
for he is keeping
track, inwardly counting the cost. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.
Then I
beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it;
yea further; though a wise man
think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.
I saw every work of God, and that a man is unable to
comprehend the work that is done under the sun.
Despite his efforts to search it out, he cannot find its meaning; even if the wise man claims to know, he is unable to
comprehend.
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither
doth his heart
think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.
But this is not his intention; this is not his plan. For it is in his heart to destroy and cut off many nations.
Which
think to cause my people to
forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for
Baal.
They suppose the dreams that they tell one another will make My people
forget My name, just as their fathers
forgot My name through the worship of
Baal.
As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.
As for me, here I am in your hands; do to me what you think is good and right.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to
prosper you and not to
harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.
And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me and told me to declare that this is what the LORD says: “That is what you are thinking, O house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your minds.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
This is what the Lord GOD says: On that day, thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will
devise an evil plan.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
He will speak out against the Most High and
oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the appointed times and laws; and the saints will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.
And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees,
whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.
I will destroy her vines and fig trees, which she
thinks are the wages paid by her lovers. So I will make them into a
thicket, and the beasts of the field will
devour them.
So the
shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will
think upon us, that we perish not.
The captain approached him and said, “How can you sleep? Get up and call upon your God. Perhaps this God will consider us, so that we may not perish.”
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This carefree city that dwells securely, that
thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
And I said unto them, If ye
think good, give me my price; and if not,
forbear. So they
weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver.
Then I told them, “If it seems right to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them.” So they
weighed out my wages, thirty pieces of silver.
And
think not to say within
yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And do not
presume to say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Do not
think that I have come to
abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to
abolish them, but to
fulfill them.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
And when you pray, do not
babble on like pagans, for they
think that by their many words they will be heard.
And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
But Jesus knew what they were
thinking and said, “Why do you
harbor evil in your hearts?
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
He saith,
Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What
thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
“
Yes,” he answered. When Peter entered the house, Jesus
preempted him. “What do you
think, Simon?” He asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs and taxes: from their own sons, or from others?”
How
think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone
astray,
doth he not leave the
ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone
astray?
What do you
think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes
astray, will he not leave the
ninety-nine on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?
But what
think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my
vineyard.
But what do you
think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first one and said, ‘Son, go and work
today in the
vineyard.’
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
So tell us what You think: Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
“What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is He?” “David’s,” they answered.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
For this reason, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at My
disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
What do you think?” “He deserves to die,” they answered.
But there were certain of the
scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
But some of the
scribes were sitting there and
thinking in their hearts,
And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
At once Jesus knew in His spirit that they were thinking this way within themselves. “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?” He asked.
But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and
cried out:
but when they saw Him walking on the sea, they
cried out,
thinking He was a ghost—
Ye have heard the
blasphemy: what
think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
You have heard the
blasphemy. What is your
verdict?” And they all condemned Him as deserving of death.
And the
scribes and the
Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can
forgive sins, but God alone?
But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
Knowing what they were thinking, Jesus replied, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
Take
heed therefore how ye hear: for
whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and
whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
Pay attention, therefore, to how you
listen.
Whoever has will be given more, but
whoever does not have, even what he
thinks he has will be taken away from him.”
Which now of these three,
thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the
thieves?
Which of these three do you
think was a
neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.”
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you,
Nay; but rather division:
Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
To this He replied, “Do you
think that these
Galileans were worse sinners than all the other
Galileans, because they suffered this fate?
Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and
slew them,
think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam
collapsed on them: Do you
think that they were more sinful than all the others living in Jerusalem?
Search the scriptures; for in them ye
think ye have eternal life: and they are they which
testify of me.
You
pore over the Scriptures because you
presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that
testify about Me,
Do not
think that I will
accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
Do not
think that I will
accuse you before the Father. Your
accuser is Moses, in whom you have put your hope.
Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
They kept looking for Jesus and asking one another as they stood in the temple courts, “What do you think? Will He come to the feast at all?”
They shall put you out of the synagogues:
yea, the time cometh, that
whosoever killeth you will
think that he doeth God service.
They will put you out of the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when
anyone who kills you will
think he is offering a service to God.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
“Woman, why are you
weeping?” Jesus asked. “Whom are you seeking?”
Thinking He was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”
And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom
think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose
shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.
As John was completing his course, he said, ‘Who do you suppose I am? I am not that One. But He is coming after me whose
sandals I am not worthy to
untie.’
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to
think that the
Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone,
graven by art and man’s
device.
Therefore, being offspring of God, we should not think that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by man’s skill and imagination.
I
think myself happy, king
Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things
whereof I am accused of the Jews:
“King
Agrippa, I consider myself fortunate to stand before you
today to defend myself against all the accusations of the Jews,
But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
But we consider your views worth hearing, because we know that people everywhere are speaking against this sect.”
Because that, when they knew God, they
glorified him not as God, neither were
thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their
foolish heart was
darkened.
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
So when you, O man, pass judgment on others, yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to
think of himself more highly than he ought to
think; but to
think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not
think of
yourself more highly than you ought, but
think of
yourself with
sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has given you.
Let no man
deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a
fool, that he may be wise.
Let no one
deceive himself. If any of you
thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a
fool, so that he may become wise.
And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to
think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be
puffed up for one against another.
Brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written. Then you will not take pride in one man over another.
For I
think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a
spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.
For it seems to me that God has displayed us apostles at the end of the
procession, like prisoners appointed for death. We have become a
spectacle to the whole world, to angels as well as to men.
I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
Because of the present
crisis, I
think it is good for a man to remain as he is.
But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
However, if someone
thinks he is acting inappropriately toward his
betrothed, and if she is beyond her youth and they ought to marry, let him do as he wishes; he is not
sinning; they should get married.
But she is happier if she so
abide, after my judgment: and I
think also that I have the Spirit of God.
In my judgment, however, she is happier if she remains as she is. And I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
The one who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.
Wherefore let him that
thinketh he standeth take
heed lest he fall.
So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.
And those members of the body, which we
think to be less honourable, upon these we
bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant
comeliness.
and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special
modesty,
Doth not
behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily
provoked,
thinketh no evil;
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs.
Brethren, be not children in understanding:
howbeit in
malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
Brothers, stop
thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your
thinking be
mature.
If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
If
anyone considers himself a prophet or spiritual person, let him acknowledge that what I am writing you is the Lord’s command.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to
think any thing as of ourselves; but our
sufficiency is of God;
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim that anything comes from us, but our
competence comes from God.
But I
beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence,
wherewith I
think to be bold against some, which
think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
I
beg you that when I come I may not need to be as bold as I expect toward those who
presume that we live according to the flesh.
Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.
You are looking at outward appearances. If
anyone is
confident that he belongs to Christ, he should remind himself that we belong to Christ just as much as he does.
Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
Such people should consider that what we are in our letters when absent, we will be in our actions when present.
