For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
This is also why you pay taxes. For the authorities are God’s servants, who
devote themselves to their work.
Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
Greet Mary, who has worked
very hard for you.
Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa, who labour in the Lord.
Salute the beloved
Persis, which laboured much in the Lord.
Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, women who have worked hard in the Lord.
Greet my beloved
Persis, who has worked
very hard in the Lord.
But with me it is a
very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment:
yea, I judge not mine own self.
I care very little, however, if I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.
Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and
thirst, and are naked, and are
buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
To this
very hour we are
hungry and
thirsty, we are poorly clothed, we are
brutally treated, we are homeless.
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer
yourselves to be
defrauded?
The
very fact that you have lawsuits among you means that you are thoroughly defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be
cheated?
Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.
Now he that hath wrought us for the
selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
And God has prepared us for this
very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a
pledge of what is to come.
For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I
boast of you to them of
Macedonia, that
Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath
provoked very many.
For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been
boasting to the Macedonians that since last year you in
Achaia were prepared to give. And your zeal has
stirred most of them to do likewise.
For I suppose I was not a
whit behind the
very chiefest apostles.
I consider myself in no way inferior to those “
super-apostles.”
I am become a
fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been
commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the
very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.
I have become a
fool, but you drove me to it. In fact, you should have
commended me, since I am in no way inferior to those “
super-apostles,” even though I am nothing.
And I will
very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
And for the sake of your souls, I will most

Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.
They only asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
I have sent him to you for this
very purpose, that you may know about us, and that he may
encourage your hearts.
Being
confident of this
very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
being
confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;
I have sent him to you for this
very purpose, that you may know about us, and that he may
encourage your hearts.
For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in
Judea that are in Christ Jesus. You suffered from your own countrymen the
very things they suffered from the Jews,
He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
Anyone, then, who rejects this command does not
reject man but God, the
very One who gives you His Holy Spirit.
And to esteem them
very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among
yourselves.
In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another.
And the
very God of peace
sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved
blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now may the God of peace Himself
sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept
blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But for this
very reason I was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His perfect
patience as an example to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out
very diligently, and found me.
Indeed, when he arrived in Rome, he searched
diligently until he found me.
The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
May the Lord grant
Onesiphorus His mercy on that day. You know
very well how much he ministered to me in Ephesus.
Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own
bowels:
I am sending back to you him who is my very heart.
I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it:
albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
I, Paul, write this with my own hand. I will repay it—not to mention that you owe me your very self.
And we desire that every one of you do
shew the same
diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
We want each of you to show this same
diligence to the
very end, in order to make your hope sure.
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to
shew unto the heirs of promise the
immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose
very clear to the heirs of the promise, He
guaranteed it with an oath.
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the
very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers
thereunto perfect.
For the law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the
realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a
very small
helm,
whithersoever the governor listeth.
Consider ships as well. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are
steered by a
very small
rudder wherever the
pilot is inclined.
Behold, we count them happy which
endure. Ye have heard of the
patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is
very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
See how blessed we consider those who have
persevered. You have heard of Job’s
perseverance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is full of
compassion and mercy.
And beside this, giving all
diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been
sinning from the
very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.
And when these things were done, the priests and Levites, having the
unleavened bread, stood in
very comely order according to the kindreds,
Then said the king unto his servants, Carry me away out of the battle; for I am very weak. And immediately his servants took him away out of the battle.
And they that dwelt round about them, and helped them in all things with silver and gold, with horses and cattle, and with
very many free gifts of a great number whose minds were
stirred up
thereto.
