punish them for these things?” declares the LORD. “Should I not
avenge Myself on such a nation as this?

ramp against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; there is nothing but oppression in her midst.

ashamed when they had committed
abomination?

visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

ashamed of the
abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to
blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I
punish them, they will
collapse,” says the LORD.
Were they
ashamed when they had committed
abomination?
nay, they were not at all
ashamed, neither could they
blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their
visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Are they
ashamed of the
abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to

mocked. In the time of their punishment they will perish.

wander; they have not restrained their feet. So the LORD does not accept them; He will now remember their guilt and call their sins to account.”
O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and
visit me, and
revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy
longsuffering: know that for thy sake I have suffered
rebuke.

Avenge me against my persecutors. In Your
patience, do not take me away. Know that I
endure reproach for Your honor.
Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

shepherds who tend My people: “You have scattered My flock and driven them away, and have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your deeds, declares the LORD.
Wherefore their way shall be unto them as
slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their

disaster upon them in the year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.

For this is what the LORD says: “When Babylon’s seventy years are complete, I will attend to you and
confirm My promise to restore you to this place.
And he shall lead
Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I

Also her
hired men are in the midst of her like
fatted bullocks; for they also are turned back, and are fled away together: they did not stand, because the day of their
calamity was come upon them, and the time of their
visitation.

mercenaries among her are like
fattened calves. They too will turn back; together they will
flee, they will not stand their ground, for the day of
calamity is coming upon them— the time of their punishment.
He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the
snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.

panic will fall into the pit, and

Esau at the time I
punish him.
Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter:

visitation.

Woe to them, for their day has come— the time of their punishment.

punish you.

visitation they shall perish.

Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will
visit thine iniquity, O daughter of
Edom; he will discover thy sins.
O Daughter of
Zion, your punishment is complete; He will not
prolong your exile. But He will
punish your iniquity, O Daughter of
Edom; He will
expose your sins.
After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
After a long time you will be summoned. In the latter years you will enter a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been
desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and all now dwell securely.
And I will
visit upon her the days of
Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and
forgat me, saith the LORD.

punish her for the days of the Baals when she burned incense to them, when she decked herself with rings and
jewelry, and went after her lovers. But Me she
forgot,” declares the LORD.

punish their sins: They will return to Egypt.
The days of
visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a
fool, the spiritual man is
mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
The days of punishment have come; the days of
retribution have arrived— let Israel know it. The prophet is called a
fool, and the inspired man
insane, because of the greatness of your iniquity and hostility.
They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

That in the day that I shall
visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also
visit the altars of
Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

punish Israel for their transgressions, I will
visit destruction on the altars of
Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off, and they will fall to the ground.

brier; the most upright is sharper than a
hedge of thorns. The day for your
watchmen has come, the day of your
visitation. Now is the time of their confusion.
And the coast shall be for the
remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed
thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall
visit them, and turn away their captivity.
The coast will belong to the
remnant of the house of Judah; there they will find pasture. They will lie down in the evening among the houses of Ashkelon, for the LORD their God will attend to them and restore their
captives.
Mine anger was
kindled against the
shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath
visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle.
“My anger burns against the
shepherds, and I will
punish the leaders. For the LORD of Hosts attends to His flock, the house of Judah; He will make them like His royal
steed in battle.
For, lo, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land, which shall not
visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor
heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and
tear their claws in pieces.
For behold, I will raise up a
shepherd in the land who will neither care for the lost, nor seek the young, nor
heal the broken, nor
sustain the healthy, but he will
devour the flesh of the choice sheep and
tear off their
hooves.
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, I was naked and you did not
clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not
visit Me.’
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

dayspring from on high hath
visited us,
because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the
Dawn will
visit us from on high,

glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath
visited his people.
A sense of
awe swept over all of them, and they
glorified God. “A great prophet has appeared among us!” they said. “God has
visited His people!”
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place,
whither he himself would come.
After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two
ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to
visit.
And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy
visitation.
They will level you to the ground—you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of your
visitation from God.”
And the one of them, whose name was
Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Jew to associate with a foreigner or
visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.

Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife
Priscilla because
Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to
visit them,
And the next day we touched at
Sidon. And Julius
courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
The next day we landed at
Sidon, and Julius treated Paul with consideration, allowing him to
visit his friends and receive their care.
