Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
In the mountain of the height of Israel
will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly
cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
I
will plant it on the mountain heights of Israel so that it
will bear branches; it
will yield fruit and become a
majestic cedar. Birds of every kind
will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches.
And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have
exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to
flourish: I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have
exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to
flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.
Then all the trees of the field
will know that I am the LORD. I bring the tall tree down and make the low tree tall. I dry up the green tree and make the
withered tree
flourish. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I have done it.’”
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this
proverb in Israel.
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, you
will no longer
quote this
proverb in Israel.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Behold, every soul belongs to Me; both father and son are Mine. The soul who sins is the one who will die.
Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
He follows My statutes and faithfully keeps My ordinances. That man is righteous; surely he will live, declares the Lord GOD.
Hath given forth upon
usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
He engages in
usury and takes excess interest.
Will this son live? He
will not! Since he has committed all these abominations, he
will surely die; his blood
will be on his own head.
That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received
usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
He withholds his hand from
harming the poor and takes no interest or
usury. He keeps My ordinances and follows My statutes. Such a man
will not die for his father’s iniquity. He
will surely live.
As for his father, because he cruelly
oppressed,
spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
As for his father, he
will die for his own iniquity, because he practiced
extortion,
robbed his brother, and did what was wrong among his people.
Yet say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will not bear the iniquity of his father, and a father will not bear the iniquity of his son. The righteousness of the righteous man will fall upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked man will fall upon him.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
But if the wicked man turns from all the sins he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die.
All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
None of the transgressions he has committed will be held against him. Because of the righteousness he has practiced, he will live.
But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his
trespass that he hath
trespassed, and in his sin that he hath
sinned, in them shall he die.
But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity,
committing the same abominations as the wicked,
will he live? None of the righteous acts he did
will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness and sin he has committed, he
will die.
When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and practices iniquity, he will die for this. He will die because of the iniquity he has committed.
Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
But if a wicked man turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will save his life.
Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
Because he considered and turned from all the transgressions he had committed, he will surely live; he will not die.
Therefore I
will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD.
Repent, and turn
yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Therefore, O house of Israel, I
will judge you, each according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD.
Repent and turn from all your transgressions, so that your iniquity
will not become your
downfall.
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have
transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why
will ye die, O house of Israel?
Cast away from
yourselves all the transgressions you have committed, and fashion for
yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, O house of Israel?
Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to
enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I
will not be enquired of by you.
“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: Have you come to inquire of Me? As surely as I live, I will not be consulted by you, declares the Lord GOD.
Wilt thou judge them, son of man,
wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:
Will you judge them,
will you judge them, son of man?
Confront them with the abominations of their fathers
But they rebelled against me, and would not
hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they
forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I
will pour out my
fury upon them to
accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
But they rebelled against Me and refused to
listen. None of them cast away the abominations before their eyes, and they did not
forsake the idols of Egypt. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the land of Egypt.
And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.
And I gave them My statutes and made known to them My ordinances—for the man who does these things will live by them.
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they
despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly
polluted: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them in the wilderness, to
consume them.
Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not follow My statutes and they rejected My ordinances—though the man who does these things
will live by them—and they utterly
profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and put an end to them in the wilderness.
Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they
polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them, to
accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or carefully observe My ordinances—though the man who does these things
will live by them—and they
profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the wilderness.
Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye
polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye
whoredom after their abominations?
For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye
pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I
will not be enquired of by you.
When you offer your gifts, sacrificing your sons in the fire, you continue to
defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. So should I be consulted by you, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I
will not be consulted by you!
And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
When you say, ‘Let us be like the nations, like the peoples of the lands, serving wood and stone,’ what you have in mind will never come to pass.
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with
fury poured out,
will I rule over you:
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will rule over you.
And I
will bring you out from the people, and
will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with
fury poured out.
With a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered.
And I
will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there
will I
plead with you face to face.
And I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, where I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
Like as I
pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so
will I
plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.
Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, declares the Lord GOD.
And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:
I will make you pass under the rod and will bring you into the bond of the covenant.
And I
will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that
transgress against me: I
will bring them forth out of the country where they
sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
And I
will purge you of those who
rebel and
transgress against Me. I
will bring them out of the land in which they dwell, but they
will not enter the land of Israel. Then you
will know that I am the LORD.
As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and
hereafter also, if ye
will not
hearken unto me: but
pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
And as for you, O house of Israel, this is what the Lord GOD says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you. But afterward, you
will surely
listen to Me, and you
will no longer
defile My holy name with your gifts and idols.
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
I
will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I
will be
sanctified in you before the heathen.
When I bring you from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered, I
will accept you as a pleasing
aroma. And I
will show My
holiness through you in the sight of the nations.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.
Then you
will know that I am the LORD, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land that I
swore to give your fathers.
And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been
defiled; and ye shall
lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Then you will know, O house of Israel, that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for the sake of My name and not according to your wicked ways and corrupt acts, declares the Lord GOD.”
And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall
devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be
quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
Say to the forest of the Negev: Hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Lord GOD says: I am about to
ignite in you a fire, and it
will devour all your trees, both green and dry. The
blazing flame
will not be
quenched, and by it every face from south to north
will be
scorched.
And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have
kindled it: it shall not be
quenched.
Then all people
will see that I, the LORD, have
kindled it; it
will not be
quenched.”
And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and
will draw forth my sword out of his
sheath, and
will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.
and tell her that this is what the LORD says: ‘I am against you, and I
will draw My sword from its
sheath and cut off from you both the righteous and the wicked.
Seeing then that I
will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his
sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
Because I
will cut off both the righteous and the wicked, My sword
will be
unsheathed against
everyone from south to north.
That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his
sheath: it shall not return any more.
Then all flesh
will know that I, the LORD, have taken My sword from its
sheath, not to return it again.’
And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
And when they ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart
will melt, and every hand
will go
limp. Every spirit
will faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it
will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD.”
Because it is a trial, and what if the sword
contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD.
Surely testing
will come! And what if even the
scepter, which the sword despises, does not continue?’ declares the Lord GOD.
I
will also
smite mine hands together, and I
will cause my
fury to rest: I the LORD have said it.
I too will strike My hands together, and I will satisfy My wrath.’ I, the LORD, have spoken.”
And it shall be unto them as a false
divination in their sight, to them that have
sworn oaths: but he
will call to
remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
It
will seem like a false
omen to the eyes of those who have
sworn allegiance to him, but it
will draw attention to their guilt and take them
captive.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the
diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same:
exalt him that is low, and
abase him that is high.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Remove the
turban, and take off the crown. Things
will not remain as they are:
Exalt the lowly and bring low the
exalted.
I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.
A ruin, a ruin, I will make it a ruin! And it will not be restored until the arrival of Him to whom it belongs, to whom I have assigned the right of judgment.’
Shall I cause it to return into his
sheath? I
will judge thee in the place where thou
wast created, in the land of thy
nativity.
Return the sword to its
sheath! In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I
will judge you.
And I
will pour out mine
indignation upon thee, I
will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of
brutish men, and skilful to destroy.
I
will pour out My anger upon you; I
will breathe the fire of My
fury against you; I
will hand you over to
brutal men, skilled in destruction.
Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
You
will be fuel for the fire. Your blood
will stain your own land. You
will not be remembered, for I, the LORD, have spoken.’”
Now, thou son of man,
wilt thou judge,
wilt thou judge the
bloody city?
yea, thou shalt
shew her all her abominations.
“As for you, son of man,
will you judge her?
Will you pass judgment on the city of
bloodshed? Then
confront her with all her abominations
Those that be near, and those that be far from thee, shall
mock thee, which art infamous and much
vexed.
Those near and far
will mock you, O infamous city, full of
turmoil.
Can thine heart
endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and
will do it.
Will your courage
endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken, and I
will act.
I
will disperse you among the nations and
scatter you throughout the lands; I
will purge your uncleanness.
And thou shalt take thine inheritance in
thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
And when you have
defiled yourself in the eyes of the nations, then you
will know that I am the LORD.’”
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye are all become
dross, behold, therefore I
will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because all of you have become
dross, behold, I
will gather you into Jerusalem.
As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to
melt it; so
will I gather you in mine anger and in my
fury, and I
will leave you there, and
melt you.
Just as one gathers silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin into the furnace to
melt with a
fiery blast, so I
will gather you in My anger and wrath, leave you there, and
melt you.
Yea, I
will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.
Yes, I
will gather you together and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you
will be melted within the city.
As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof; and ye shall know that I the LORD have poured out my
fury upon you.
As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted within the city. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have poured out My wrath upon you.’”
Therefore, O
Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is
alienated, and I
will bring them against thee on every side;
Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I
will incite your lovers against you, those from whom you turned away in
disgust. And I
will bring them against you from every side—
And they shall come against thee with
chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee
buckler and shield and
helmet round about: and I
will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
They
will come against you with a host of peoples, with weapons,
chariots, and wagons. They
will array themselves against you on every side with
buckler and shield and
helmet. I
will delegate judgment to them, and they
will punish you according to their own standards.
And I
will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal
furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy
remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be
devoured by the fire.
And I
will set My
jealous rage against you, and they
will deal with you in
fury. They
will cut off your noses and ears, and your survivors
will fall by the sword. They
will seize your sons and daughters, and your
remnant will be consumed by fire.
They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.
They
will strip off your clothes and take your fine
jewelry.
Thus
will I make thy
lewdness to cease from thee, and thy
whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.
So I
will put an end to your
indecency and
prostitution, which began in the land of Egypt, and you
will not lift your eyes to them or remember Egypt anymore.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is
alienated:
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Surely I
will deliver you into the hands of those you
hate, from whom you turned away in
disgust.
And they shall deal with thee
hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy
lewdness and thy whoredoms.
They
will treat you with hatred, take all for which you have worked, and leave you naked and bare, so that the shame of your
prostitution will be exposed. Your
indecency and
promiscuity I
will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a
whoring after the heathen, and because thou art
polluted with their idols.
Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand.
Because you have followed the path of your sister, I will put her cup into your hand.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be
laughed to
scorn and had in
derision; it containeth much.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘You
will drink your sister’s cup, a cup deep and wide. It
will bring
scorn and
derision, for it holds so much.
Thou shalt even drink it and
suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and
pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You
will drink it and
drain it; you
will dash it to pieces, and
tear your breasts. For I have spoken,’ declares the Lord GOD.
The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man,
wilt thou judge Aholah and
Aholibah?
yea, declare unto them their abominations;
Then the LORD said to me: “Son of man, will you pass judgment against Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.
Then said I unto her that was old in
adulteries,
Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?
Then I said of her who had grown old in
adulteries: ‘Now let them use her as a
prostitute, for that is all she is!’
And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
But righteous men
will sentence them to the punishment of those who commit
adultery and
bloodshed, because they are adulteresses with blood on their hands.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; I
will bring up a company upon them, and
will give them to be removed and
spoiled.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Bring a
mob against them and
consign them to terror and
plunder.
And the company shall stone them with stones, and
dispatch them with their swords; they shall
slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
The
mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords. They
will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.
Thus
will I cause
lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your
lewdness.
And they shall
recompense your
lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
They
will repay you for your
indecency, and you
will bear the consequences of your sins of
idolatry. Then you
will know that I am the Lord GOD.’”
Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city, to the pot whose
scum is therein, and whose
scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall up on it.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘
Woe to the city of
bloodshed, to the pot now
rusted, whose
rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;
Woe to the
bloody city! I
will even make the pile for fire great.
Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the
filthiness of it may be
molten in it, that the
scum of it may be consumed.
Set the empty pot on its coals until it becomes hot and its copper glows. Then its impurity
will melt within; its
rust will be consumed.
I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I
will do it; I
will not go back, neither
will I
spare, neither
will I
repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
I, the LORD, have spoken; the time is coming, and I
will act. I
will not
refrain or show
pity, nor
will I relent. I
will judge you according to your ways and deeds,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will profane my sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind
will fall by the sword.’
And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
Then you will do as I have done: You will not cover your lips or eat the bread of mourners.
And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your
shoes upon your feet: ye shall not
mourn nor
weep; but ye shall pine away for your
iniquities, and
mourn one toward another.
Your turbans
will remain on your heads and your
sandals on your feet. You
will not
mourn or
weep, but you
will waste away because of your sins, and you
will groan among
yourselves.
Thus
Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
‘Thus
Ezekiel will be a sign for you; you
will do everything that he has done. When this happens, you
will know that I am the Lord GOD.’
That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
on that day a
fugitive will come and tell you the news.
In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more
dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
On that day your mouth
will be opened to him who has escaped; you
will speak and no longer be
mute. So you
will be a sign to them, and they
will know that I am the LORD.”
Behold, therefore I will deliver thee to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in thee, and make their dwellings in thee: they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.
therefore I will indeed give you as a possession to the people of the East. They will set up their camps and pitch their tents among you. They will eat your fruit and drink your milk.
And I
will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the
Ammonites a couchingplace for flocks: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I
will make Rabbah a pasture for camels, and
Ammon a resting place for sheep. Then you
will know that I am the LORD.’
Behold, therefore I
will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and
will deliver thee for a
spoil to the heathen; and I
will cut thee off from the people, and I
will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I
will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
therefore I
will indeed stretch out My hand against you and give you as
plunder to the nations. I
will cut you off from the peoples and
exterminate you from the countries. I
will destroy you, and you
will know that I am the LORD.’
Therefore, behold, I
will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth,
Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim,
therefore I
will indeed
expose the
flank of Moab beginning with its frontier cities—Beth-jeshimoth,
Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim—the glory of the land.
Unto the men of the east with the
Ammonites, and
will give them in possession, that the
Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations.
I
will give it along with the
Ammonites as a possession to the people of the East, so that the
Ammonites will no longer be remembered among the nations.
And I
will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
So I
will execute judgments on Moab, and they
will know that I am the LORD.’
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I
will also stretch out mine hand upon
Edom, and
will cut off man and beast from it; and I
will make it
desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I
will stretch out My hand against
Edom and cut off from it both man and beast. I
will make it a wasteland, and from Teman to Dedan they
will fall by the sword.
And I
will lay my
vengeance upon
Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in
Edom according to mine anger and according to my
fury; and they shall know my
vengeance, saith the Lord GOD.
I
will take My
vengeance on
Edom by the hand of My people Israel, and they
will deal with
Edom according to My anger and wrath. Then they
will know My
vengeance, declares the Lord GOD.’
