Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem
will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
And it shall be, that
whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague,
wherewith the LORD
will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And if the people of Egypt
will not go up and enter in, then the rain
will not fall on them; this
will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not go up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This
will be the punishment of Egypt and of all the nations that do not go up to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses,
HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’S house shall be like the
bowls before the altar.
On that day, HOLY TO THE LORD
will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the
cooking pots in the house of the LORD
will be like the
sprinkling bowls before the altar.
Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be
holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and
seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the
Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.
Indeed, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah
will be holy to the LORD of Hosts, and all who sacrifice
will come and take some pots and
cook in them. And on that day there
will no longer be a
Canaanite in the house of the LORD of Hosts.
Whereas
Edom saith, We are
impoverished, but we
will return and build the
desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I
will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath
indignation for ever.
Though
Edom may say, “We have been
devastated, but we
will rebuild the ruins,” this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “They may build, but I
will demolish. They
will be called the Land of Wickedness, and a people with whom the LORD is
indignant forever.
And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD
will be
magnified from the border of Israel.
You
will see this with your own eyes, and you
yourselves will say, ‘The LORD is great—even beyond the borders of Israel.’”
And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the
lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor;
will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
When you offer blind animals for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present the
lame and sick ones, is it not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
And now, I pray you,
beseech God that he
will be
gracious unto us: this hath been by your means:
will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
“But ask now for God’s favor.
Will He be
gracious? Since this has come from your hands,
will He show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for
nought? neither do ye
kindle fire on mine altar for
nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither
will I accept an offering at your hand.
“Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would no longer
kindle useless fires on My altar! I take no pleasure in you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I
will accept no offering from your hands.
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
For My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be presented in My name, because My name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD of Hosts.
If ye
will not hear, and if ye
will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I
will even send a
curse upon you, and I
will curse your blessings:
yea, I have
cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
If you do not
listen, and if you do not take it to heart to honor My name,” says the LORD of Hosts, “I
will send a
curse among you, and I
will curse your blessings.
Yes, I have already begun to
curse them, because you are not taking it to heart.
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.
Behold, I
will rebuke your descendants, and I
will spread dung on your faces, the waste from your feasts, and you
will be carried off with it.
And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
Then you will know that I have sent you this commandment so that My covenant with Levi may continue,” says the LORD of Hosts.
The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
As for the man who does this, may the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob
everyone who is
awake and aware—even if he brings an offering to the LORD of Hosts.
And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping, and with crying out,
insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good
will at your hand.
And this is another thing you do: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with
weeping and
groaning, because He no longer regards your offerings or receives them
gladly from your hands.
Behold, I
will send my
messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the
messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Behold, I
will send My
messenger, who
will prepare the way before Me. Then the Lord whom you seek
will suddenly come to His temple—the
Messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight—see, He is coming,” says the LORD of Hosts.
But who may
abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’
sope:
But who can
endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He
will be like a refiner’s fire, like a
launderer’s soap.
And he shall sit as a refiner and
purifier of silver: and he shall
purify the sons of Levi, and
purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
And He
will sit as a refiner and
purifier of silver; He
will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver. Then they
will present offerings to the LORD in righteousness.
Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
Then the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD, as in days of old and years gone by.
And I
will come near to you to judgment; and I
will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that
oppress the
hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Then I
will draw near to you for judgment. And I
will be a swift witness against sorcerers and adulterers and perjurers, against oppressors of the widowed and fatherless, and against those who
defraud laborers of their wages and deny justice to the foreigner but do not fear Me,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
Yet from the days of your fathers, you have turned away from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of Hosts. “But you ask, ‘How can we return?’
Will a man
rob God? Yet ye have
robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we
robbed thee? In
tithes and offerings.
Will a man
rob God? Yet you are
robbing Me! But you ask, ‘How do we
rob You?’ In
tithes and offerings.
Bring ye all the
tithes into the
storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I
will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Bring the full
tithe into the
storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts. “See if I
will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without measure.
And I
will rebuke the
devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
I
will rebuke the
devourer for you, so that it
will not destroy the fruits of your land, and the vine in your field
will not fail to produce fruit,” says the LORD of Hosts.
And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a
delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Then all the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight,” says the LORD of Hosts.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I
will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
“They
will be Mine,” says the LORD of Hosts, “on the day when I prepare My
treasured possession. And I
will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.
Then shall ye return, and
discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”
For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an
oven; and all the proud,
yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be
stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the
arrogant and every
evildoer will be
stubble; the day is coming when I
will set them
ablaze,” says the LORD of Hosts. “Not a root or branch
will be left to them.”
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with
healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as
calves of the
stall.
“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness
will rise with
healing in its wings, and you
will go out and
leap like
calves from the
stall.
And ye shall
tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
Then you
will trample the wicked, for they
will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Behold, I
will send you
Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and
dreadful day of the LORD:
Behold, I
will send you
Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and
awesome Day of the LORD.
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and
smite the earth with a
curse.
And he
will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Otherwise, I
will come and strike the land with a
curse.”
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not
willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away
privily.
Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and was unwilling to disgrace her publicly, he resolved to
divorce her quietly.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name
Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
“Behold, the virgin
will be with child and
will give birth to a son, and they
will call Him
Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
And thou
Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
‘But you,
Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you
will come a ruler who
will be the
shepherd of My people Israel.’”
And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and
flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod
will seek the young child to destroy him.
When the
Magi had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and
flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.”
And he came and dwelt in a city called
Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a
Nazarene.
and he went and lived in a town called
Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophets: “He
will be called a
Nazarene.”
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit
will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
I indeed
baptize you with water unto
repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose
shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall
baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
I
baptize you with water for
repentance, but after me
will come One more powerful than I, whose
sandals I am not worthy to carry. He
will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
Whose
fan is in his hand, and he
will throughly
purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the
garner; but he
will burn up the
chaff with
unquenchable fire.
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast
thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou
dash thy foot against a stone.
“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He
will command His angels concerning You, and they
will lift You up in their hands, so that You
will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
And saith unto him, All these things
will I give thee, if thou
wilt fall down and worship me.
“All this I will give You,” he said, “if You will fall down and worship me.”
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
Blessed are they that
mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those who
mourn, for they
will be comforted.
Blessed are the
meek: for they shall
inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and
thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are those who hunger and
thirst for righteousness, for they
will be filled.
Blessed are the
merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the
merciful, for they
will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
For
verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one
jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single
jot, not a stroke of a pen,
will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but
whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
So then,
whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise
will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but
whoever practices and teaches them
will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the
scribes and
Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the
scribes and
Pharisees, you
will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and
whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not murder’ and ‘
Anyone who murders
will be subject to judgment.’
But I say unto you, That
whosoever is
angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and
whosoever shall say to his brother,
Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but
whosoever shall say, Thou
fool, shall be in danger of
hell fire.
But I tell you that
anyone who is
angry with his brother
will be subject to judgment. Again,
anyone who says to his brother, ‘
Raca,’
will be subject to the
Sanhedrin. But
anyone who says, ‘You
fool!’
will be subject to the fire of
hell.
Truly I tell you, you
will not get out until you have paid the last
penny.
And if any man
will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy
cloke also.
if someone wants to
sue you and take your
tunic, let him have your
cloak as well;
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same?
Take
heed that ye do not your
alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
“Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
That thine
alms may be in secret: and thy Father which
seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy
closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which
seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
And when you pray, do not
babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they
will be heard.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
For if ye
forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father
will also
forgive you:
For if you
forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father
will also
forgive you.
But if ye
forgive not men their trespasses, neither
will your Father
forgive your trespasses.
But if you do not
forgive men their trespasses, neither
will your Father
forgive yours.
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which
seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
so that your fasting will not be obvious to men, but only to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
For where your
treasure is, there
will your heart be also.
For where your
treasure is, there your heart
will be also.
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
No man can serve two masters: for either he
will hate the one, and love the other; or else he
will hold to the one, and
despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and
mammon.
No one can serve two masters: Either he
will hate the one and love the other, or he
will be devoted to the one and
despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than
raiment?
Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you
will eat or drink; or about your body, what you
will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Wherefore, if God so
clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to
morrow is cast into the
oven, shall he not much more
clothe you, O ye of little faith?
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here
today and
tomorrow is thrown into the furnace,
will He not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith?
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the
morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
“Do not judge, or you will be judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye
mete, it shall be measured to you again.
For with the same judgment you
pronounce, you
will be judged; and with the measure you use, it
will be measured to you.
Thou
hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the
mote out of thy brother’s eye.
You
hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you
will see clearly to remove the
speck from your brother’s eye.
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
Ask, and it
will be given to you; seek, and you
will find;
knock, and the door
will be opened to you.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
For
everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door
will be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
Or if he asks for a fish,
will give him a
snake?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Not
everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the
will of My Father in heaven.
Many
will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Many
will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
And then
will I
profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Then I
will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of
lawlessness!’
Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I
will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Therefore
everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
And, behold, there came a
leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou
wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Suddenly a
leper came and
knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are
willing, You can make me clean.”
And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I
will; be thou clean. And immediately his
leprosy was
cleansed.
Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am
willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately his
leprosy was
cleansed.
And Jesus saith unto him, I
will come and
heal him.
“I
will go and
heal him,” Jesus replied.
The
centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be
healed.
The
centurion answered, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant
will be
healed.
And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
I say to you that many
will come from the east and the west to share the
banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth.
But the sons of the kingdom
will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there
will be
weeping and
gnashing of teeth.”
And Jesus said unto the
centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was
healed in the
selfsame hour.
Then Jesus said to the
centurion, “Go! As you have believed, so
will it be done for you.” And his servant was
healed at that very hour.
And a certain
scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I
will follow thee
whithersoever thou goest.
And one of the
scribes came to Him and said, “Teacher, I
will follow You wherever You go.”
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I
will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to
repentance.
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the
bridechamber mourn, as long as the
bridegroom is with them? but the days
will come, when the
bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the
bridegroom mourn while He is with them? But the time
will come when the
bridegroom will be taken from them; then they
will fast.
