Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be
able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their
bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem unclean. Their silver and gold cannot save them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs with wealth, for it became the
stumbling block that brought their iniquity.
Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his
transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be
able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
Therefore, son of man, say to your people: ‘The righteousness of the righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his
transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked man cause him to
stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. Nor will the righteous man be
able to
survive by his righteousness on the day he sins.’
And the meat offering shall be an
ephah for a ram, and the meat offering for the lambs as he shall be
able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
The grain offering with the ram shall be one
ephah, and the grain offering with the lambs shall be as much as he is
able, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And he shall prepare a meat offering, an
ephah for a
bullock, and an
ephah for a ram, and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
He is to provide a grain offering of an
ephah with the bull, an
ephah with the ram, and as much as he is
able with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And in the feasts and in the
solemnities the meat offering shall be an
ephah to a
bullock, and
ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is
able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
At the festivals and appointed feasts, the grain offering shall be an
ephah with a bull, an
ephah with a ram, and as much as one is
able to give with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
The king
responded to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you
able to tell me what I saw in the dream, as well as its interpretation?”
The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a
revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldst
reveal this secret.
The king said to Daniel, “Your God is truly the God of gods and Lord of kings, the
Revealer of Mysteries, since you were
able to
reveal this
mystery.”
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be
able to deliver you from my hands?”
If it be so, our God whom we serve is
able to deliver us from the burning
fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
If the God whom we serve exists, then He is
able to deliver us from the
blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king.
This dream I king
Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof,
forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not
able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art
able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
This is the dream that I, King
Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me the interpretation, because none of the wise men of my kingdom can
interpret it for me. But you are
able, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”
Now I
Nebuchadnezzar praise and
extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is
able to
abase.
Now I,
Nebuchadnezzar, praise and
exalt and
glorify the King of heaven, for all His works are true and all His ways are just. And He is
able to humble those who walk in pride.
And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and
dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
But I have heard about you, that you are
able to give interpretations and
solve difficult problems. Therefore, if you can read this inscription and give me its interpretation, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.”
And when he came to the den, he
cried with a
lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually,
able to deliver thee from the lions?
When he reached the den, he
cried out in a voice of
anguish, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been
able to deliver you from the lions?”
So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most
fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not
withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand.
Then the king of the North will come, build up a siege
ramp, and capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their best troops will not be
able to resist.
Then
Amaziah the priest of
Bethel sent to
Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,
Amos hath
conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not
able to bear all his words.
Then
Amaziah the priest of
Bethel sent word to
Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “
Amos has
conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words,
Neither their silver nor their gold shall be
able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be
devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a
speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the Day of the LORD’s wrath. The whole earth will be consumed by the fire of His jealousy.” For indeed, He will make a sudden end of all who dwell on the earth.
And think not to say within
yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is
able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And do not
presume to say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am
able to do this? They said unto him,
Yea, Lord.
After Jesus had entered the house, the blind men came to Him. “Do you believe that I am
able to do this?” He asked. “
Yes, Lord,” they answered.
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not
able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is
able to destroy both soul and body in
hell.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in
hell.
For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s
womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is
able to receive it, let him receive it.
For there are eunuchs who were born that way; others were made that way by men; and still others live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye
able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be
baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with? They say unto him, We are
able.
“You do not know what you are asking,” Jesus replied. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” the brothers answered.
And no man was
able to answer him a word, neither
durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
No one was
able to answer a word, and from that day on no one
dared to question Him any further.
And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them
asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping. “Were you not able to keep watch with Me for one hour?” He asked Peter.
And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”
And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
With many such parables Jesus spoke the word to them, to the extent that they could understand.
And they bring unto him one that was
deaf, and had an
impediment in his speech; and they
beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Some people brought to Him a man who was
deaf and hardly
able to speak, and they
begged Jesus to place His hand on him.
And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
Then Jesus returned and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you
asleep?” He asked. “Were you not
able to keep watch for one hour?
And, behold, thou shalt be
dumb, and not
able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of
repentance, and begin not to say within
yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is
able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Produce fruit, then, in keeping with
repentance. And do not begin to say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be
healed of any,
including a woman who had suffered from
bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all her money on physicians, but no one was
able to
heal her.
If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you
worry about the rest?
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be
able.
“Make every effort to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.
Lest
haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not
able to finish it, all that behold it begin to
mock him,
Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is unable to finish the work,
everyone who sees it will
ridicule him,
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
saying, ‘This man could not finish what he started to build.’
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can
engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your
adversaries shall not be
able to
gainsay nor resist.
For I will give you speech and wisdom that none of your
adversaries will be
able to resist or
contradict.
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is
able to
pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can
snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to
haul it in because of the great number of fish.
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest
haply ye be found even to fight against God.
But if it is from God, you will not be
able to stop them. You may even find
yourselves fighting against God.”
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
but they could not stand up to his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.
Now therefore why
tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were
able to bear?
Now then, why do you test God by placing on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?
And now, brethren, I
commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is
able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are
sanctified.
And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all who are
sanctified.
Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom
thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things,
whereof we
accuse him.
By examining him
yourself, you will be
able to learn the truth about all our charges against him.”
Let them therefore, said he, which among you are
able, go down with me, and
accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
So if this man has done anything wrong, let some of your leaders come down with me and
accuse him there.”
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
being fully persuaded that God was able to do what He had promised.
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And they also, if they
abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is
able to
graff them in again.
And if they do not
persist in unbelief, they will be
grafted in, for God is
able to
graft them in again.
And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be
able to test and
approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth.
Yea, he shall be
holden up: for God is
able to make him stand.
Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge,
able also to
admonish one another.
Now to him that is of power to
stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the
mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
Now to Him who is
able to
strengthen you by my gospel and by the
proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the
mystery concealed for ages past
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not ready,
I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
I say this to your shame. Is there really no one among you wise enough to
arbitrate between his brothers?
There hath no
temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are
able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be
able to bear it.
No
temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be
tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are
tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
Who comforteth us in all our
tribulation, that we may be
able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
And He has qualified us as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
And God is
able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the
mystery of Christ)
In reading this, then, you will be
able to understand my insight into the
mystery of Christ,
May be
able to
comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
will have power, together with all the saints, to
comprehend the length and width and height and depth
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Now to Him who is
able to do
immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Put on the full
armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be
able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Therefore take up the full
armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be
able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.
Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be
able to
quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked.
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
That ye may
approve things that are excellent; that ye may be
sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
so that you may be
able to test and prove what is best and may be pure and
blameless for the day of Christ,
Who shall change our
vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is
able even to
subdue all things unto himself.
who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will
transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not
ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is
able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
For this reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not
ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am
convinced that He is
able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
And the things that you have heard me say among many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be qualified to teach others as well.
And the servant of the Lord must not
strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be
able by sound doctrine both to
exhort and to
convince the gainsayers.
He must hold firmly to the faithful word as it was taught, so that he can
encourage others by sound teaching and
refute those who
contradict it.
For in that he himself hath suffered being
tempted, he is
able to succour them that are
tempted.
Because He Himself suffered when He was
tempted, He is
able to help those who are being
tempted.
Who can have
compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with
infirmity.
He is
able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and misguided, since he himself is
beset by weakness.
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud
cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.
Wherefore he is
able also to save them to the
uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make
intercession for them.
Therefore He is
able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to
intercede for them.
Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and in a sense, he did receive Isaac back from death.
Therefore, get rid of all moral
filth and every expression of evil, and
humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save your souls.
For in many things we
offend all. If any man
offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and
able also to
bridle the whole body.
We all
stumble in many ways. If
anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man,
able to control his whole body.
There is one
lawgiver, who is
able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
There is only one
Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is
able to save and destroy. But who are you to judge your
neighbor?
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be
able after my
decease to have these things always in
remembrance.
And I will make every effort to
ensure that after my departure, you will be
able to recall these things at all times.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
Now to Him who is
able to keep you from
stumbling and to present you
unblemished in His glorious presence, with great joy—
And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was
able to open the book, neither to look
thereon.
But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was
able to open the
scroll or look inside it.
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
For the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is
able to
withstand it?”
And they worshipped the
dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is
able to make war with him?
They worshiped the
dragon who had given authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can
wage war against it?”
And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
The heathen shall
envy thee, but they shall be
able to do nothing against thee, saith the Lord.
Then answered I and said, What man is able to do that, that thou shouldest ask such things of me?
How should thy vessel then be
able to
comprehend the way of the Highest, and, the world being now outwardly corrupted to understand the corruption that is evident in my sight?
Then shall no man be
able to save him that is destroyed, nor to
oppress him that hath
gotten the victory.
For thou comest far short that thou shouldest be
able to love my creature more than I: but I have
ofttimes drawn
nigh unto thee, and unto it, but never to the unrighteous.
And every one that shall be saved, and shall be able to escape by his works, and by faith, whereby ye have believed,
And I said, Because thou hast
forsaken me, and yet I did according to thy words, and I went into the field, and, lo, I have seen, and yet see, that I am not
able to express.
For in the place wherein the Highest beginneth to
shew his city, there can no man’s building be
able to stand.
And therefore fear not, let not thine heart be
affrighted, but go thy way in, and see the beauty and greatness of the building, as much as thine eyes be
able to see:
A man shall desire to go into a city, and shall not be able.
Thou shalt be
weakened as a poor woman with stripes, and as one
chastised with wounds, so that the mighty and lovers shall not be
able to receive thee.
He will send his power, and will destroy them from the face of the earth, and their God shall not deliver them: but we his servants will destroy them as one man; for they are not
able to
sustain the power of our horses.
For with them we will
tread them under foot, and their mountains shall be
drunken with their blood, and their fields shall be filled with their dead bodies, and their footsteps shall not be
able to stand before us, for they shall utterly perish, saith king Nabuchodonosor, lord of all the earth: for he said, None of my words shall be in vain.
Now the children of Israel, when they saw the multitude of them, were greatly troubled, and said every one to his neighbour, Now will these men
lick up the face of the earth; for neither the high mountains, nor the valleys, nor the hills, are
able to bear their weight.
