swaying in the wind?
This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my
messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

about whom it is written: ‘Behold, I will send My
messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.’

about all that was happening, he was
perplexed. For some were saying that John had risen from the dead,
And Herod said, John have I
beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.

beheaded John,” Herod said, “but who is this man I hear such things
about?” And he kept trying to see Jesus.

healed those who needed
healing.

countryside for
lodging and provisions. For we are in a

Who appeared in glory, and spake of his
decease which he should
accomplish at Jerusalem.

about His departure, which He was
about to
accomplish at Jerusalem.
Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
“Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.”
But they understood not this saying, and it was
hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
But they did not understand this statement. It was
veiled from them so that they could not
comprehend it, and they were afraid to ask Him
about it.

whither he himself would come.

But
Martha was
cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord,
dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?
bid her therefore that she help me.
But
Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”
And Jesus answered and said unto her,
Martha,
Martha, thou art careful and troubled
about many things:
As Jesus went on from there, the
scribes and
Pharisees began to
oppose Him bitterly and to
ply Him with questions
about many things,
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
When you are brought before synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not
worry about how to defend
yourselves or what to say.
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat, or
about your body, what you will wear.
If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you
worry about the rest?
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
And do not be concerned
about what you will eat or drink. Do not
worry about it.
Let your loins be
girded about, and your lights burning;
Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning.

about the
Galileans whose blood
Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

dig about it, and dung it:
‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone again this year, until I
dig around it and
fertilize it.
And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy
stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer
steward.

about you? Turn in an account of your management, for you cannot be
manager any longer.’
It were better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should
offend one of these little ones.
It would be better for him to have a
millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to
stumble.
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to
faint;
Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray at all times and not lose heart:
And shall not God
avenge his own
elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
Will not God bring
about justice for His
elect who cry out to Him day and night? Will He continue to
defer their help?
Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
Then Jesus took the Twelve aside and said to them, “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything the prophets have written about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
And he ran before, and
climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a
trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
For the days will come upon you when your enemies will
barricade you and
surround you and
hem you in on every side.
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the
bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
Even Moses demonstrates that the dead are raised, in the passage
about the burning
bush. For he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
“Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
So keep watch at all times, and pray that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.”
For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written
about Me is reaching its
fulfillment.”
And he was withdrawn from them
about a stone’s cast, and
kneeled down, and prayed,
And He withdrew
about a stone’s throw beyond them, where He
knelt down and prayed,
When they which were
about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we
smite with the sword?
Those around Jesus saw what was about to happen and said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”
And
about the space of one hour after another
confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
About an hour later, another man insisted, “Certainly this man was with Him, for he too is a
Galilean.”
And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the
cock crew.
“Man, I do not know what you are talking
about,” Peter replied. While he was still speaking, the
rooster crowed.
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding
glad: for he was
desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some
miracle done by him.
When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased. He had wanted to see Him for a long time, because he had heard
about Him and was hoping to see Him perform a
miracle.
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem
about threescore furlongs.

They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.”
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
He came as a witness to
testify about the Light, so that through him
everyone might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
He himself was not the Light, but he came to
testify about the Light.
Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of
thyself?
So they said to him, “Who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you say
about yourself?”
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
“Come and see,” He replied. So they went and saw where He was staying, and spent that day with Him. It was about the tenth hour.
Philip findeth
Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of
Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Philip found
Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote
about in the Law, the One the prophets
foretold—Jesus of
Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
But he spake of the temple of his body.
But Jesus was speaking about the temple of His body.
And needed not that any should
testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
He did not need any testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.
If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?
Then there arose a question between some of John’s disciples and the Jews
about purifying.
Then a dispute arose between John’s disciples and a certain
Jew over the issue of
ceremonial washing.
And they came unto John, and said unto him,
Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.
So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Look,
Rabbi, the One who was with you beyond the Jordan, the One you
testified about—He is
baptizing, and
everyone is going to Him.”
Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being
wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was
about the sixth hour.
Since Jacob’s well was there, Jesus,
weary from His journey, sat down by the well. It was
about the sixth hour.
But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
But He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into
Galilee, he went unto him, and
besought him that he would come down, and
heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
When he heard that Jesus had come from
Judea to
Galilee, he went and
begged Him to come down and
heal his son, who was
about to die.
If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
There is another who testifies
about Me, and I know that His testimony
about Me is
valid.
But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
But I have testimony more substantial than that of John. For the works that the Father has given Me to
accomplish—the very works I am doing—
testify about Me that the Father has sent Me.
And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
And the Father who sent Me has Himself
testified about Me. You have never heard His voice nor seen His form,
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which
testify of me.
You
pore over the Scriptures because you
presume that by them you possess eternal life. These are the very words that
testify about Me,
For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
If you had believed Moses, you would believe Me, because he wrote about Me.
And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
But He was asking this to test him, for He knew what He was about to do.
And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
“Have the people sit down,” Jesus said. Now there was
plenty of grass in that place, so the men sat down,
about five thousand of them.
When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
Then Jesus,
realizing that they were
about to come and make Him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.
So when they had rowed
about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing
nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
When they had rowed
about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea—and they were
terrified.
The Jews then
murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
At this, the Jews began to
grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples
murmured at it, he said unto them,
Doth this
offend you?
Aware that His disciples were
grumbling about this teaching, Jesus asked them, “Does this
offend you?
He spake of
Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should
betray him, being one of the twelve.
He was speaking
about Judas, the son of Simon
Iscariot. For although
Judas was one of the Twelve, he was later to
betray Jesus.
And there was much
murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said,
Nay; but he deceiveth the people.
Many in the crowds were
whispering about Him. Some said, “He is a good man.” But others replied, “No, He deceives the people.”
Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
Yet no one would speak publicly about Him for fear of the Jews.
Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
About halfway through the feast, Jesus went up to the temple courts and began to teach.
Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps it. Why are you trying to kill Me?”
The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
“You have a
demon,” the crowd replied. “Who is trying to kill You?”
The
Pharisees heard that the people
murmured such things concerning him; and the
Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
When the
Pharisees heard the crowd
whispering these things
about Jesus, they and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet
glorified.)
He was speaking
about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been
glorified.
The
Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of
thyself; thy record is not true.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and
whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and
whither I go.
Jesus replied, “Even if I
testify about Myself, My testimony is
valid, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I came from or where I am going.
I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
I am One who testifies about Myself, and the Father, who sent Me, also testifies about Me.”
I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
“I have much to say about you and much to judge. But the One who sent Me is truthful, and what I have heard from Him, I tell the world.”
They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
They did not understand that He was telling them about the Father.
They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
So once again they asked the man who had been blind, “What do you say about Him, since it was your eyes He opened?” “He is a prophet,” the man replied.
Then came the Jews round
about him, and said unto him, How long
dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
So the Jews gathered around Him and demanded, “How long will You keep us in
suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
Say ye of him, whom the Father hath
sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
then what
about the One whom the Father
sanctified and sent into the world? How then can you
accuse Me of
blasphemy for stating that I am the Son of God?
And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no
miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
Many came to Him and said, “Although John never performed a sign, everything he said about this man was true.”
Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
They thought that Jesus was talking
about actual sleep, but He was speaking
about the death of
Lazarus.
Now
Bethany was
nigh unto Jerusalem,
about fifteen furlongs off:
Now
Bethany was near Jerusalem, a little less than two miles away,
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with
graveclothes: and his face was bound
about with a
napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
The man who had been dead came out with his hands and feet bound in strips of linen, and his face
wrapped in a cloth. “
Unwrap him and let him go,” Jesus told them.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
As a result, Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but He withdrew to a town called Ephraim in an area near the wilderness. And He stayed there with the disciples.
