Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they
prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they
prophesied also.
When this was reported to Saul, he sent more messengers, but they began to
prophesy as well. So Saul tried again and sent messengers a third time, and even they began to
prophesy.
Then went he
also to
Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in
Ramah.
Finally, Saul himself left for
Ramah and came to the large
cistern at Secu, where he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” “At Naioth in
Ramah,” he was told.
And he went thither to Naioth in
Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him
also, and he went on, and
prophesied, until he came to Naioth in
Ramah.
So Saul went to Naioth in
Ramah. But the Spirit of God came upon even Saul, and he walked along
prophesying until he came to Naioth in
Ramah.
And he stript off his clothes
also, and
prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul
also among the prophets?
Then Saul
stripped off his robes and
also prophesied before Samuel. And he
collapsed and lay naked all that day and night. That is why it is said, “Is Saul
also among the prophets?”
But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
and do not ever cut off your loving devotion from my household—not even when the LORD cuts off every one of David’s enemies from the face of the earth.”
And the king said unto the
footmen that stood about him, Turn, and
slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand
also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not
shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
Then the king ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was
fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.
And
Nob, the city of the priests,
smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and
asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
He
also put to the sword
Nob, the city of the priests, with its men and women, children and infants, oxen,
donkeys, and sheep.
And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
saying, “Do not be afraid, for my father Saul will never lay a hand on you. And you will be king over Israel, and I will be your second-in-command. Even my father Saul knows this is true.”
Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
and Saul and his men went to seek him. When David was told about it, he went down to the rock and stayed in the Wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard of this, he pursued David there.
David
also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and
cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David
stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.
After that, David got up, went out of the cave, and called out to Saul, “My lord the king!” When Saul looked behind him, David bowed facedown in reverence
And David said unto his men,
Gird ye on every man his sword. And they
girded on every man his sword; and David
also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
And David said to his men, “
Strap on your swords!” So David and all his men put on their swords, and about four hundred men followed David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.
So and more
also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that
pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
May God
punish David, and ever so severely, if I let one of Nabal’s men
survive until morning.”
David
also took Ahinoam of
Jezreel; and they were
also both of them his wives.
David had
also married Ahinoam of
Jezreel. So she and
Abigail were both his wives.
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saul said to him, “May you be blessed, David my son. You will
accomplish great things and will surely prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul returned home.
Moreover the LORD will
also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to
morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the LORD
also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
Moreover, the LORD will deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines, and
tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. And the LORD will deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”
Now therefore, I pray thee,
hearken thou
also unto the voice of thine
handmaid, and let me set a
morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.
Now please
listen to your servant and let me set a
morsel of bread before you so you may eat and have the strength to go on your way.”
And the woman had a fat
calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and
kneaded it, and did
bake unleavened bread thereof:
And David came to the two hundred men, which were so
faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made
also to
abide at the
brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he
saluted them.
When David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him from the
Brook of Besor, they came out to meet him and the troops with him. As David approached the men, he
greeted them,
And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people
also are fallen and dead; and Saul and
Jonathan his son are dead
also.
“What was the outcome?” David asked. “Please tell me.” “The troops fled from the battle,” he replied. “Many of them fell and died. And Saul and his son
Jonathan are
also dead.”
(
Also he
bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)
and he ordered that the sons of Judah be taught the Song of the Bow. It is written in the Book of
Jashar:
So David went up thither, and his two wives
also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and
Abigail Nabal’s wife the
Carmelite.
So David went there with his two wives, Ahinoam of
Jezreel and
Abigail the widow of Nabal of
Carmel.
And his men that were with him did David bring up, every man with his household: and they dwelt in the cities of
Hebron.
David
also took the men who were with him, each with his household, and they settled in the towns near
Hebron.
And now the LORD
shew kindness and truth unto you: and I
also will requite you this kindness, because ye have done this thing.
Now may the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness, and I will also show you the same favor because you have done this.
Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be ye
valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and
also the house of Judah have
anointed me king over them.
Now then, be strong and
courageous, for though Saul your lord is dead, the house of Judah has
anointed me as their king.”
Joab also and
Abishai pursued after
Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the way of the wilderness of
Gibeon.
But
Joab and
Abishai pursued
Abner. By
sunset, they had gone as far as the hill of Ammah opposite Giah on the way to the wilderness of
Gibeon.
So do God to
Abner, and more
also, except, as the LORD hath
sworn to David, even so I do to him;
May God
punish Abner, and ever so severely, if I do not do for David what the LORD has
sworn to him:
And
Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying
also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
Then
Abner sent messengers in his place to say to David, “To whom does the land belong? Make your covenant with me, and surely my hand will be with you to bring all Israel over to you.”
And
Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and
Abner went
also to speak in the ears of David in
Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.
Abner also spoke to the Benjamites and went to
Hebron to tell David all that seemed good to Israel and to the whole house of Benjamin.
Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into
fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people
wept again over him.
Your hands were not bound, your feet were not
fettered. As a man falls before the wicked, so
also you fell.” And all the people
wept over him even more.
And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David
sware, saying, So do God to me, and more
also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.
Then all the people came and urged David to eat something while it was still day, but David took an oath, saying, “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if I taste bread or anything else before the sun sets!”
And Saul’s son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of
Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth
also was reckoned to Benjamin:
Saul’s son had two men who were leaders of
raiding parties. One was named Baanah and the other Rechab; they were sons of
Rimmon the Beerothite of the tribe of Benjamin—Beeroth is considered part of Benjamin,
Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou
wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.
Even in times past, while Saul was king over us, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And to you the LORD said, ‘You will
shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”
Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,
The Philistines
also came and spread themselves in the valley of
Rephaim.
Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of
Rephaim.
And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. I will give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD declares to you that He Himself will establish a house for you.
And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O Lord GOD, You have also spoken about the future of the house of Your servant. Is this Your custom with man, O Lord GOD?
And he
smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
David
also defeated the Moabites, made them lie down on the ground, and measured them off with a cord. He measured off with two lengths those to be put to death, and with one length those to be
spared. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute.
David
smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
David also defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, who had marched out to restore his dominion along the Euphrates River.
Which
also king David did
dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had dedicated from all the nations he had subdued—
And when the children of
Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they
also before
Abishai, and entered into the city. So
Joab returned from the children of
Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
When the
Ammonites saw that the Arameans had fled, they too fled before
Abishai, and they entered the city. So
Joab returned from fighting against the
Ammonites and came to Jerusalem.
And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David
slew the men of seven hundred
chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand
horsemen, and
smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.
But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers. He also struck down Shobach the commander of their army, who died there.
And David said to Uriah,
Tarry here to day
also, and to
morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the
morrow.
“Stay here one more day,” David said to Uriah, “and
tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day and the next.
And the men of the city went out, and fought with
Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died
also.
And when the men of the city came out and fought against
Joab, some of David’s servants fell, and Uriah the Hittite
also died.
Who
smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a
millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye
nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead
also.
Who was the one to strike
Abimelech son of Jerubbesheth? Was it not a woman who dropped an upper
millstone on him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you get so close to the wall?’ If so, then you are to say, ‘Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead as well.’”
And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants; and some of the king’s servants be dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
Then the archers shot at your servants from the wall, and some of the king’s servants were killed. And your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead as well.”
And David said unto
Nathan, I have
sinned against the LORD. And
Nathan said unto David, The LORD
also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
Then David said to
Nathan, “I have
sinned against the LORD.” “The LORD has taken away your sin,”
Nathan replied. “You will not die.
Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to
blaspheme, the child
also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
Nevertheless, because by this deed you have shown utter contempt for the word of the LORD, the son born to you will surely die.”
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king’s sons came, and lifted up their voice and
wept: and the king
also and all his servants
wept very
sore.
And as he finished speaking, the sons of the king came in,
wailing loudly. Then the king and all his servants
also wept very bitterly.
And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine
handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that
smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he
slew; and we will destroy the heir
also: and so they shall
quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
Now the whole clan has risen up against your
maidservant and said, ‘Hand over the one who struck down his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of the brother whom he killed. Then we will cut off the heir as well!’ So they would
extinguish my one remaining
ember by not preserving my husband’s name or
posterity on the earth.”
And it was so, that when any man came
nigh to him to do him
obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and
kissed him.
Also, when
anyone approached to bow down to him,
Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him, and
kiss him.
Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou
also with us? return to thy place, and
abide with the king: for thou art a stranger, and
also an exile.
Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why should you also go with us? Go back and stay with the new king, since you are both a foreigner and an exile from your homeland.
And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.
But Ittai answered the king, “As surely as the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be!”
And all the country
wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king
also himself passed over the
brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.
Everyone in the
countryside was
weeping loudly as all the people passed by. And as the king crossed the Kidron Valley, all the people
also passed toward the way of the wilderness.
And lo
Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and
Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.
Zadok was
also there, and all the Levites with him were carrying the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and
Abiathar offered sacrifices until the people had passed out of the city.
The king said
also unto
Zadok the priest, Art not thou a
seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you,
Ahimaaz thy son, and
Jonathan the son of
Abiathar.
But if thou return to the city, and say unto
Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant hitherto, so will I now
also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of
Ahithophel.
But you can
thwart the counsel of
Ahithophel for me if you return to the city and say to
Absalom: ‘I will be your servant, my king; in the past I was your father’s servant, but now I will be your servant.’
And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence.
Furthermore, whom should I serve if not the son? As I served in your father’s presence, so
also I will serve in yours.”
Then said
Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite
also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.
Then
Absalom said, “
Summon Hushai the Archite as well, and let us hear what he too has to say.”
And he
also that is
valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly
melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are
valiant men.
Then even the most
valiant soldier with the heart of a lion will
melt with fear, because all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man who has
valiant men with him.
And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of
Joab, and a third part under the hand of
Abishai the son of Zeruiah,
Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself
also.
He sent out the troops, a third under
Joab, a third under
Joab’s brother
Abishai son of Zeruiah, and a third under Ittai the Gittite. And the king said to the troops, “I will surely march out with you as well.”
Ahimaaz son of
Zadok, however,
persisted and said to
Joab, “Regardless of whatever may happen, please let me
also run behind the
Cushite!” “My son,”
Joab replied, “why do you want to run, since you will not receive a reward?”
And the
watchman saw another man running: and the
watchman called unto the porter, and said, Behold another man running alone. And the king said, He
also bringeth
tidings.
the
watchman saw another man running, and he called out to the gatekeeper, “Look! Another man is running alone!” “This one
also brings good news,” said the king.
And say ye to
Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more
also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of
Joab.
And say to
Amasa, ‘Aren’t you my flesh and blood? May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if from this time you are not the commander of my army in place of
Joab!’”
Then the king went on to
Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and
also half the people of Israel.
Then the king went on to
Gilgal, and Chimham crossed over with him. All the troops of Judah and half the troops of Israel
escorted the king.
And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have
also more right in David than ye: why then did ye
despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
“We have ten shares in the king,” answered the men of Israel, “so we have more claim to David than you. Why then do you
despise us? Were we not the first to speak of restoring our king?” But the men of Judah pressed even harder than the men of Israel.
And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto
Abel, and to Beth-maachah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went
also after him.
Sheba passed through all the tribes of Israel to
Abel-beth-
maacah and through the entire region of the Berites, who gathered together and followed him.
And Ira also the Jairite was a chief ruler about David.
and Ira the Jairite was David’s priest.
And there was yet a battle in
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he
also was born to the
giant.
And there was still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended from Rapha,
He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet.
He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
He brought me out into the open; He
rescued me because He delighted in me.
I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity.
And I have been
blameless before Him and kept myself from iniquity.
Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
You have given me Your shield of salvation, and Your gentleness exalts me.
Thou hast
also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that
hate me.
You have made my enemies retreat before me; I put an end to those who
hated me.
Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
You have delivered me from the
strife of my people; You have preserved me as the head of nations; a people I had not known shall serve me.
And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
who frees me from my enemies. You
exalt me above my foes; You
rescue me from violent men.
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a
valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he
slew two
lionlike men of Moab: he went down
also and
slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:
And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a man of
valor from Kabzeel, a man of many exploits. He struck down two champions of Moab, and on a
snowy day he went down into a pit and killed a lion.
And he
slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a
spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and
plucked the
spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and
slew him with his own
spear.
He
also killed an Egyptian, a huge man. Although the Egyptian had a
spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club,
snatched the
spear from his hand, and killed the Egyptian with his own
spear.
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.
O king, Araunah gives all these to the king.” He also said to the king, “May the LORD your God accept you.”
And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he
also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after
Absalom.
(His father had never once
reprimanded him by saying, “Why do you act this way?” Adonijah was
also very handsome, born next after
Absalom.)
Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the king, I
also will come in after thee, and
confirm thy words.
Then, while you are still there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and
confirm your words.”
And, lo, while she yet talked with the king,
Nathan the prophet
also came in.
And just then, while Bathsheba was still speaking with the king,
Nathan the prophet arrived.
The king
also said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to
ride upon mine own
mule, and bring him down to
Gihon:
“Take my servants with you,” said the king. “Set my son Solomon on my own
mule and take him down to
Gihon.
And also Solomon sitteth on the throne of the kingdom.
Moreover, Solomon has taken his seat on the royal throne.
And moreover the king’s servants came to
bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed.
The king’s servants have
also gone to
congratulate our lord King David, saying, ‘May your God make the name of Solomon more famous than your own name, and may He make his throne greater than your throne.’ And the king has bowed in worship on his bed,
And also thus said the king, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which hath given one to sit on my throne this day, mine eyes even seeing it.
saying, ‘Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel!
Today He has provided one to sit on my throne, and my eyes have seen it.’”
Moreover thou knowest
also what
Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of
Ner, and unto
Amasa the son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his
girdle that was about his loins, and in his
shoes that were on his feet.
Moreover, you know what
Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to
Abner son of
Ner and
Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to
avenge the blood of war. He
stained with the blood of war the belt around his
waist and the
sandals on his feet.
And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why
dost thou ask
Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom
also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for
Abiathar the priest, and for
Joab the son of Zeruiah.
King Solomon answered his mother, “Why do you request
Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my older brother, you might as well request the kingdom for him and for
Abiathar the priest and for
Joab son of Zeruiah!”
Then king Solomon
sware by the LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more
also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.
Then King Solomon
swore by the LORD: “May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if Adonijah has not made this request at the expense of his life.
The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou
didst to David my father: therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;
The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
Moreover, I will give you what you did not request—both riches and honor—so that during all your days no man in any kingdom will be your equal.
And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
On the third day after I gave birth, this woman
also had a
baby. We were alone, with no one in the house but the two of us.
Ahimaaz was in
Naphtali; he
also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:
Geber the son of
Uri was in the country of
Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the
Amorites, and of
Og king of
Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.
Geber son of
Uri in the land of
Gilead, including the territories of Sihon king of the
Amorites and of
Og king of
Bashan. There was
also one governor in the land of Judah.
Barley
also and straw for the horses and
dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.
Each one
also brought to the required place their quotas of barley and straw for the
chariot horses and other horses.
And he spake of trees, from the
cedar tree that is in
Lebanon even unto the
hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake
also of beasts, and of fowl, and of
creeping things, and of fishes.
He spoke of trees, from the
cedar in
Lebanon to the
hyssop growing in the wall, and he taught about animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.
He also had narrow windows framed high in the temple.
The
nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.
The bottom floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits, and the third floor seven cubits. He
also placed
offset ledges around the outside of the temple, so that nothing would be inserted into its walls.
And the
oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
Solomon also prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there.
