and over
Dan was Azarel son of Jeroham. These were the leaders of the tribes of Israel.
But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.
David did not count the men aged twenty or under, because the LORD had said that He would make Israel as numerous as the stars of the sky.
Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.
Joab son of Zeruiah began to count the men but did not finish. For because of this census wrath came upon Israel,
and the number was not entered in the Book of the Chronicles of King David.

And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.

Also
Jonathan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a wise man,
and a
scribe:
and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons:
David’s uncle
Jonathan was a
counselor; he was a man of insight
and a
scribe. Jehiel son of Hachmoni attended to the sons of the king.
And Ahithophel was the king’s counsellor:
and Hushai the Archite was the king’s companion:
And after
Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah,
and Abiathar:
and the general of the king’s army was
Joab.
Ahithophel was succeeded by Jehoiada son of Benaiah, then by
Abiathar.
Joab was the commander of the king’s army.
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes,
and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course,
and the captains over the thousands,
and captains over the hundreds,
and the stewards over all the substance
and possession of the king,
and of his sons, with the officers,
and with the mighty men,
and with all the
valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
Now David summoned all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem: the leaders of the tribes, the leaders of the divisions in the king’s service, the commanders of thousands
and of hundreds,
and the officials in charge of all the property
and cattle of the king
and his sons, along with the court officials
and mighty men—every mighty man of
valor.
Then David the king stood up upon his feet,
and said, Hear me, my brethren,
and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD,
and for the
footstool of our God,
and had made ready for the building:
Then King David rose to his feet
and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers
and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the covenant of the LORD
and as a
footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build it,
But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
but God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for My Name, because you are a man of war who has
spilled blood.’
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler;
and of the house of Judah, the house of my father;
and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me out of all my father’s house to be king over Israel
forever. For He chose Judah as leader,
and from the house of Judah He chose my father’s household,
and from my father’s sons He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
And of all my sons—for the LORD has given me many sons—He has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
And He said to me, ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him as My son, and I will be his Father.
Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.
I will establish his kingdom
forever, if he
resolutely carries out My commandments
and ordinances, as is being done this day.’
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD,
and in the
audience of our God, keep
and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land,
and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD,
and in the hearing of our God, keep
and seek out all the commandments of the LORD your God, so that you may possess this good land
and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants
forever.
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father,
and serve him with a perfect heart
and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts,
and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou
forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father
and serve Him wholeheartedly
and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart
and understands the intent of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you
forsake Him, He will
reject you
forever.
Take
heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong,
and do it.
Consider now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it.”
Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the
porch,
and of the houses thereof,
and of the
treasuries thereof,
and of the upper chambers thereof,
and of the inner parlours thereof,
and of the place of the mercy seat,
Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the
portico of the temple, its buildings, storehouses, upper rooms, inner rooms,
and the room for the mercy seat.
And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD,
and of all the chambers round about, of the
treasuries of the house of God,
and of the
treasuries of the dedicated things:
The plans contained everything David had in mind for the courts of the house of the LORD, for all the surrounding rooms, for the
treasuries of the house of God
and of the dedicated things,
Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.
for the divisions of the priests and Levites, for all the work of service in the house of the LORD, and for all the articles of service in the house of the LORD:
Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold,
and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every
candlestick,
and for the lamps thereof:
and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the
candlestick,
and also for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every
candlestick.
the weight of the gold lampstands and their lamps, including the weight of each lampstand and its lamps; the weight of each silver lampstand and its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand;
And by weight he gave gold for the tables of
shewbread, for every table;
and likewise silver for the tables of silver:
the weight of gold for each table of
showbread,
and of silver for the silver tables;
Also pure gold for the fleshhooks,
and the
bowls,
and the cups:
and for the golden basons he gave gold by weight for every
bason;
and likewise silver by weight for every
bason of silver:
the weight of the pure gold for the forks,
sprinkling bowls,
and pitchers; the weight of each gold
dish; the weight of each silver
bowl;
And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight;
and gold for the pattern of the
chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings,
and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
the weight of the refined gold for the altar of incense;
and the plans for the
chariot of the gold
cherubim that spread their wings
and overshadowed the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong
and of good courage,
and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor
forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong
and courageous,
and do it. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will neither fail you nor
forsake you before all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.
And, behold, the courses of the priests
and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God:
and there shall be with thee for all manner of
workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes
and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
The divisions of the priests
and Levites are ready for all the service of the house of God,
and every willing man of every skill will be at your
disposal for the work. The officials
and all the people are fully at your command.”
Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young
and tender,
and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
Then King David said to the whole assembly, “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young and inexperienced. The task is great because this palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold,
and the silver for things of silver,
and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron,
and wood for things of wood;
onyx stones,
and stones to be set,
glistering stones,
and of
divers colours,
and all manner of precious stones,
and marble stones in abundance.
Now with all my ability I have made provision for the house of my God—gold for the gold articles, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron,
and wood for the wood, as well as
onyx for the settings,
turquoise, stones of various colors, all kinds of precious stones,
and slabs of marble—all in abundance.
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
Moreover, because of my delight in the house of my God, I now give for it my personal treasures of gold and silver, over and above all that I have provided for this holy temple:
Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of
Ophir,
and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses
withal:
three thousand talents of gold (the gold of
Ophir)
and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the buildings,
The gold for things of gold,
and the silver for things of silver,
and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers.
And who then is willing to
consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?
Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
Then the leaders of the households, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the officials in charge of the king’s work gave willingly.
And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
Toward the service of God’s house they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze, and 100,000 talents of iron.
And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the
treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the LORD, under the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.
Then the people
rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD:
and David the king also
rejoiced with great joy.
And the people
rejoiced at the willing
response of their leaders, for they had given to the LORD freely
and wholeheartedly.
And King David also
rejoiced greatly.
Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
Then David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly
and said: “May You be blessed, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from
everlasting to
everlasting.
Thine, O LORD, is the greatness,
and the power,
and the glory,
and the victory,
and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven
and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD,
and thou art
exalted as head above all.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness
and the power
and the glory
and the
splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven
and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom,
and You are
exalted as head over all.
Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
Both riches
and honor come from You,
and You are the ruler over all. In Your hands are power
and might to
exalt and give strength to all.
Now therefore, our God, we
thank thee,
and praise thy glorious name.
Now therefore, our God, we give You
thanks,
and we praise Your glorious name.
But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from You, and from Your own hand we have given to You.
For we are strangers before thee,
and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow,
and there is none
abiding.
For we are foreigners and strangers in Your presence, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.
O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
O LORD our God, from Your hand comes all this abundance that we have provided to build You a house for Your holy Name, and all of it belongs to You.
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I know, my God, that You test the heart
and delight in uprightness. All these things I have given willingly
and with an upright heart,
and now I have seen Your people who are present here giving
joyfully and willingly to You.
O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:
O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac,
and Israel, keep this desire
forever in the intentions of the hearts of Your people,
and direct their hearts toward You.
And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy
testimonies,
and thy statutes,
and to do all these things,
and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.
And give my son Solomon a whole heart to keep and carry out all Your commandments, decrees, and statutes, and to build Your palace for which I have made provision.”
And David said to all the congregation, Now
bless the LORD your God.
And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers,
and bowed down their heads,
and worshipped the LORD,
and the king.
Then David said to the whole assembly, “Blessed be the LORD your God.” So the whole assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers. They bowed down
and paid
homage to the LORD
and to the king.
And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the LORD,
and offered burnt offerings unto the LORD, on the
morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams,
and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings,
and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
The next day they offered sacrifices and presented burnt offerings to the LORD: a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, along with their drink offerings, and other sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
And did eat
and drink before the LORD on that day with great
gladness.
And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time,
and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor,
and Zadok to be priest.
That day they
ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler,
and Zadok as the priest.
Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father,
and prospered;
and all Israel obeyed him.
So Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king in place of his father David. He
prospered,
and all Israel obeyed him.
And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
All the officials
and mighty men, as well as all of King David’s sons,
pledged their allegiance to King Solomon.
And the LORD
magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel,
and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
The LORD highly
exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel
and bestowed on him royal majesty such as had not been bestowed on any king in Israel before him.
And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in
Hebron,
and thirty
and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in
Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches,
and honour:
and Solomon his son reigned in his
stead.
He died at a ripe old age, full of years, riches, and honor, and his son Solomon reigned in his place.
Now the acts of David the king, first
and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the
seer,
and in the book of
Nathan the prophet,
and in the book of
Gad the
seer,
Now the acts of King David, from first to last, are indeed written in the Chronicles of Samuel the
Seer, the Chronicles of
Nathan the Prophet,
and the Chronicles of
Gad the
Seer,
With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom,
and the LORD his God was with him,
and magnified him exceedingly.
Now Solomon son of David established himself securely over his kingdom,
and the LORD his God was with him
and highly
exalted him.
Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
Then Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every leader in all Israel—the heads of the families.
So Solomon,
and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at
Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
And Solomon
and the whole assembly went to the high place at
Gibeon because it was the
location of God’s Tent of Meeting, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
Moreover the
brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of
Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD:
and Solomon
and the congregation sought unto it.
But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of
Uri, the son of Hur, was in
Gibeon before the tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon
and the assembly inquired of Him there.
And Solomon went up thither to the
brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation,
and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
Solomon offered sacrifices there before the LORD on the bronze altar in the Tent of Meeting, where he offered a thousand burnt offerings.
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!”
And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father,
and hast made me to reign in his
stead.
Solomon replied to God: “You have shown much loving devotion to my father David, and You have made me king in his place.
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
Now grant me wisdom
and knowledge, so that I may lead this people. For who is able to
govern this great people of Yours?”
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart,
and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom
and knowledge for
thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
God said to Solomon, “Since this was in your heart instead of requesting riches or wealth or glory for
yourself or death for your enemies—
and since you have not even requested long life but have asked for wisdom
and knowledge to
govern My people over whom I have made you king—
Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
therefore wisdom and knowledge have been granted to you. And I will also give you riches and wealth and honor unlike anything given to the kings before you or after you.”
Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at
Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation,
and reigned over Israel.
So Solomon went to Jerusalem from the high place in
Gibeon before the Tent of Meeting,
and he reigned over Israel.
Solomon accumulated 1,400
chariots and 12,000 horses, which he stationed in the
chariot cities
and also with him in Jerusalem.
And the king made silver
and gold at Jerusalem as
plenteous as stones,
and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the
vale for abundance.
The king made silver
and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones,
and cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the foothills.
And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and Kue; the royal merchants purchased them from Kue.
And they
fetched up,
and brought forth out of Egypt a
chariot for six hundred shekels of silver,
and an horse for an hundred
and fifty:
and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the
Hittites,
and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
A
chariot could be imported from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver,
and a horse for a hundred
and fifty. Likewise, they exported them to all the kings of the
Hittites and to the kings of
Aram.
And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the Name of the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
And Solomon told out
threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens,
and fourscore thousand to
hew in the mountain,
and three thousand
and six hundred to oversee them.
So he conscripted 70,000
porters, 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains,
and 3,600 supervisors.
And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou
didst deal with David my father,
and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, even so deal with me.
Then Solomon sent word to
Hiram king of Tyre: “Do for me as you did for my father David when you sent him cedars to build himself a house to live in.
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to
dedicate it to him,
and to burn before him sweet incense,
and for the continual
shewbread,
and for the burnt offerings morning
and evening, on the sabbaths,
and on the new moons,
and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an
ordinance for ever to Israel.
Behold, I am about to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God to
dedicate to Him for burning
fragrant incense before Him, for displaying the
showbread continuously,
and for making burnt offerings every morning
and evening as well as on the Sabbaths, New Moons,
and appointed feasts of the LORD our God. This is ordained for Israel
forever.
And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
The house that I am building will be great, for our God is greater than all gods.
But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
But who is able to build a house for Him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain Him? Who then am I, that I should build a house for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before Him?
Send me now therefore a man
cunning to work in gold,
and in silver,
and in brass,
and in iron,
and in purple,
and crimson,
and blue,
and that can skill to grave with the
cunning men that are with me in Judah
and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
Send me, therefore, a
craftsman skilled in engraving to work with gold
and silver, with bronze
and iron,
and with purple,
crimson,
and blue yarn. He will work with my
craftsmen in Judah
and Jerusalem, whom my father David provided.
Send me also
cedar trees,
fir trees,
and algum trees, out of
Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in
Lebanon;
and, behold, my servants shall be with thy servants,
Send me also
cedar,
cypress,
and algum logs from
Lebanon, for I know that your servants have skill to cut timber there.
And indeed, my servants will work with yours
Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.
to prepare for me timber in abundance, because the temple I am building will be great and wonderful.
And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
I will pay your servants, the woodcutters, 20,000 cors of ground wheat, 20,000 cors of barley, 20,000 baths of wine, and 20,000 baths of olive oil.”
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven
and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD,
and an house for his kingdom.
And Hiram added: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens
and the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight
and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD
and a royal palace for himself.
And now I have sent a
cunning man,
endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s,
So now I am sending you Huram-abi, a skillful man endowed with creativity.
The son of a woman of the daughters of
Dan,
and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold,
and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone,
and in timber, in purple, in blue,
and in fine linen,
and in
crimson; also to grave any manner of graving,
and to find out every
device which shall be put to him, with thy
cunning men,
and with the
cunning men of my lord David thy father.
He is the son of a woman from the daughters of
Dan,
and his father is a man of Tyre. He is skilled in work with gold
and silver, bronze
and iron, stone
and wood, purple, blue,
and crimson yarn,
and fine linen. He is experienced in every kind of engraving
and can
execute any design that is given him. He will work with your
craftsmen and with those of my lord, your father David.
Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:
Now let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, olive oil, and wine he promised.
And we will cut wood out of
Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need:
and we will bring it to thee in flotes by sea to
Joppa;
and thou shall carry it up to Jerusalem.
We will cut logs from
Lebanon, as many as you need,
and we will
float them to you as rafts by sea down to
Joppa. Then you can take them up to Jerusalem.”
And Solomon numbered all the strangers that were in the land of Israel, after the numbering
wherewith David his father had numbered them;
and they were found an hundred
and fifty thousand
and three thousand
and six hundred.
Solomon numbered all the foreign men in the land of Israel following the census his father David had conducted, and there were found to be 153,600 in all.
And he set
threescore and ten thousand of them to be bearers of burdens,
and fourscore thousand to be hewers in the mountain,
and three thousand
and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.
Solomon made 70,000 of them
porters, 80,000 stonecutters in the mountains,
and 3,600 supervisors.
And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.
Solomon began construction on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.
Now these are the things wherein Solomon was
instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was
threescore cubits,
and the breadth twenty cubits.
The foundation that Solomon laid for the house of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide, according to the old standard.
