And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
So the people of Judah gathered to seek the LORD, and indeed, they came from all the cities of Judah to seek Him.
And
Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
Amaziah asked the man of God, “What should I do about the hundred talents I have given to the army of Israel?” And the man of God replied, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”
And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel?
forbear; why shouldest thou be
smitten? Then the prophet
forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not
hearkened unto my counsel.
While he was still speaking, the king
asked, “Have we made you the
counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not
heeded my advice.”
At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
At that time Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates went to the Jews and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”
Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
They also asked, “What are the names of the men who are constructing this building?”
Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
So we questioned the elders and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”
We
asked their names also, to
certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
We also asked for their names, so that we could write down the names of their leaders for your information.
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of
Ahava, that we might
afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
And there by the
Ahava Canal I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and
ask Him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.
For I was
ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and
horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that
forsake him.
For I was
ashamed to
ask the king for an
escort of soldiers and
horsemen to protect us from our enemies on the road, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is
gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who
forsake Him.”
That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
Hanani, one of my brothers, arrived with men from Judah. So I questioned them about the
remnant of the Jews who had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.
And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’
sepulchres, that I may build it.
and answered the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city where my fathers are buried, so that I may rebuild it.”
And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when
wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.
Then the king, with the queen seated beside him, asked me, “How long will your journey take, and when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me, and I set a time.
And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto
Ezra the
scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
At that time all the people gathered together in the square before the Water Gate, and they
asked Ezra the
scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
Then
contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God
forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
So I
rebuked the officials and
asked, “Why has the house of God been neglected?” Then I gathered the Levites and singers together and stationed them at their posts,
Then I
contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and
profane the sabbath day?
Then I
rebuked the nobles of Judah and
asked, “What is this evil you are doing—
profaning the Sabbath day?
What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king
Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?
“According to law,” he
asked, “what should be done with Queen Vashti, since she refused to obey the command of King
Xerxes delivered by the eunuchs?”
Now when the turn of
Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of
Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s
chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And
Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
Now
Esther was the daughter of Abihail, the uncle from whom
Mordecai had adopted her as his own daughter. And when it was her turn to go to the king, she did not
ask for anything except what Hegai, the king’s trusted official in charge of the
harem, had
advised. And
Esther found favor in the eyes of
everyone who saw her.
Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto
Mordecai, Why transgressest thou the king’s commandment?
Then the royal servants at the king’s gate
asked Mordecai, “Why do you disobey the command of the king?”
His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him, “Have them build a
gallows fifty cubits high, and
ask the king in the morning to have
Mordecai hanged on it. Then go to the
banquet with the king and enjoy
yourself.” The advice pleased
Haman, and he had the
gallows constructed.
And the king said, Who is in the court? Now
Haman was come into the outward court of the king’s house, to speak unto the king to
hang Mordecai on the
gallows that he had prepared for him.
“Who is in the court?” the king
asked. Now
Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to
ask the king to
hang Mordecai on the
gallows he had prepared for him.
So
Haman came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour? Now
Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honour more than to myself?
Haman entered, and the king
asked him, “What should be done for the man whom the king is delighted to honor?” Now
Haman thought to himself, “Whom would the king be delighted to honor more than me?”
And the king said again unto
Esther on the second day at the
banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen
Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.
and as they
drank their wine on that second day, the king
asked once more, “Queen
Esther, what is your petition? It will be given to you. What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be fulfilled.”
Then King
Xerxes spoke up and
asked Queen
Esther, “Who is this, and where is the one who would
devise such a scheme?”
But if you would earnestly seek God and
ask the
Almighty for mercy,
Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
If He takes away, who can stop Him? Who
dares to
ask Him, ‘What are You doing?’
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
But
ask the animals, and they will
instruct you;
ask the birds of the air, and they will tell you.
Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
he will perish
forever, like his own dung; those who had seen him will
ask, ‘Where is he?’
Have ye not
asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their
tokens,
Have you never asked those who travel the roads? Do you not accept their reports?
Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a
curse to his soul.
I have not allowed my mouth to sin by
asking for his life with a
curse—
Why
dost thou
strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Why do you
complain to Him that He answers nothing a man
asks?
For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be
cleansed from my sin?
For you ask, ‘What does it profit me, and what benefit do I gain apart from sin?’
But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
But no one asks, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives us songs in the night,
Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be
swallowed up.
Should He be told that I want to speak? Would a man
ask to be
swallowed up?
Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
You asked, ‘Who is this who conceals My counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Ask Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession.
There be many that say, Who will
shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
Many
ask, “Who can show us the good?”
Shine the light of Your face upon us, O LORD.
He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
He
asked You for life, and You granted it— length of days,
forever and ever.
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to
enquire in his temple.
One thing I have
asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to
gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple.
My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
My tears have been my food both day and night, while men ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
And they
tempted God in their heart by
asking meat for their
lust.
Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the
revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
Why should the nations
ask, “Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations Your
vengeance for the
bloodshed of Your servants.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
They
asked, and He brought
quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When
wilt thou comfort me?
My eyes fail, looking for Your promise; I ask, “When will You comfort me?”
Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
Two things I ask of You— do not refuse me before I die:
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou
dost not
enquire wisely concerning this.
Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is unwise of you to ask about this.
Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly
desolate,
Then I
asked: “How long, O Lord?” And He replied: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left unoccupied and the land is
desolate and
ravaged,
Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
“
Ask for a sign from the LORD your God, whether from the depths of
Sheol or the heights of heaven.”
But
Ahaz said, I will not
ask, neither will I
tempt the LORD.
But
Ahaz replied, “I will not
ask; I will not test the LORD.”
That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not
asked at my mouth; to
strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
They set out to go down to Egypt without asking My advice, to seek shelter under Pharaoh’s protection and take refuge in Egypt’s shade.
Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
And
Hezekiah had
asked, “What will be the sign that I will go up to the house of the LORD?”
Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king
Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And
Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.
Then the prophet Isaiah went to King
Hezekiah and
asked, “Where did those men come from, and what did they say to you?” “They came to me from a distant land,”
Hezekiah replied, “from Babylon.”
Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And
Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
“What have they seen in your palace?” Isaiah
asked. “They have seen everything in my palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.”
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the
goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
A voice says, “Cry out!” And I asked, “What should I cry out?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field.
To whom then will ye
liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
“To whom will you
liken Me, or who is My equal?”
asks the Holy One.
For I
beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I
asked of them, could answer a word.
When I look, there is no one; there is no
counselor among them; when I
ask them, they have nothing to say.
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the
potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker— one clay pot among many. Does the clay
ask the
potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘He has no hands’?
Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: “How
dare you question Me about My sons, or
instruct Me in the work of My hands?
Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and
forsook not the
ordinance of their God: they
ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
For day after day they seek Me and delight to know My ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not
forsake the justice of their God. They
ask Me for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.”
I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
“I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. To a nation that did not call My name, I said, ‘Here I am! Here I am!’
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an
almond tree.
And the word of the LORD came to me,
asking, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” “I see a branch of an
almond tree,” I replied.
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a
seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
Again the word of the LORD came to me,
asking, “What do you see?” “I see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is
tilting toward us from the north.”
Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of
drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
They did not
ask, ‘Where is the LORD who brought us up from the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, a land of
drought and darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?’
The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also
transgressed against me, and the prophets
prophesied by
Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
The priests did not
ask, ‘Where is the LORD?’ The experts in the law no longer knew Me, and the leaders rebelled against Me. The prophets
prophesied by
Baal and followed useless idols.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have
forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
And when the people
ask, ‘For what
offense has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ You are to tell them, ‘Just as you have
forsaken Me and served foreign gods in your land, so will you serve foreigners in a land that is not your own.’”
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it!’
I
hearkened and heard, but they spake not
aright: no man
repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
I have
listened and heard; they do not speak what is right. No one repents of his wickedness,
asking, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone has pursued his own course like a horse charging into battle.
And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.
And if you
ask yourself, “Why has this happened to me?” It is because of the magnitude of your iniquity that your skirts have been
stripped off and your body has been exposed.
And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee,
Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
If they ask you, ‘Where shall we go?’ you are to tell them that this is what the LORD says: ‘Those destined for death, to death; those destined for the sword, to the sword; those destined for famine, to famine; and those destined for captivity, to captivity.’
For who shall have
pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall
bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to
ask how thou doest?
Who will have
pity on you, O Jerusalem? Who will
mourn for you? Who will turn aside to
ask about your
welfare?
And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt
shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?
When you tell these people all these things, they will
ask you, ‘Why has the LORD pronounced all this great
disaster against us? What is our guilt? What is the sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?’
Therefore thus saith the LORD;
Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very
horrible thing.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Inquire among the nations: Who has ever heard things like these? Virgin Israel has done a most terrible thing.
And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?
And many nations will pass by this city and ask one another, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this great city?’
And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall
ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even
forsake you, saith the LORD.
“Now when this people or a prophet or priest
asks you, ‘What is the burden of the LORD?’ you are to say to them, ‘What burden? I will
forsake you, declares the LORD.’
Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
“Jeremiah,” the LORD asked, “what do you see?” “Figs!” I replied. “The good figs are very good, but the bad figs are very bad, so bad they cannot be eaten.”
Ask ye now, and see whether a man
doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in
travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
Ask now, and see: Can a male give birth? Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale?
And they
asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How
didst thou write all these words at his mouth?
“Tell us now,” they
asked Baruch, “how did you write all these words? Was it at Jeremiah’s
dictation?”
Then
Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king
asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
Later, King
Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah and received him in his palace, where he
asked him privately, “Is there a word from the LORD?” “There is,” Jeremiah replied. “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
Moreover Jeremiah said unto king
Zedekiah, What have I
offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
Then Jeremiah
asked King
Zedekiah, “How have I
sinned against you or your servants or these people, that you have put me in prison?
Then
Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet unto him into the third entry that is in the house of the LORD: and the king said unto Jeremiah, I will
ask thee a thing; hide nothing from me.
Then King
Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah the prophet and received him at the third entrance to the house of the LORD. “I am going to
ask you something,” said the king to Jeremiah. “Do not hide anything from me.”
Then came all the princes unto Jeremiah, and asked him: and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they left off speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.
When all the officials came to Jeremiah and questioned him, he relayed to them the exact words the king had commanded him to say. So they said no more to him, for no one had overheard the conversation.
O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and
espy;
ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?
Stand by the road and watch, O dweller of Aroer!
Ask the man
fleeing or the woman escaping, ‘What has happened?’
They shall
ask the way to
Zion with their faces
thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.
They will
ask the way to
Zion and turn their faces toward it. They will come and join themselves to the LORD in an
everlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.
The tongue of the
sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for
thirst: the young children
ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.
The
nursing infant’s tongue clings in
thirst to the roof of his mouth. Little children
beg for bread, but no one gives them any.
Son of man, hath not the house of Israel, the
rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou?
“Son of man, hasn’t the
rebellious house of Israel
asked you, ‘What are you doing?’
Surely when the wall has fallen, you will not be
asked, ‘Where is the
whitewash with which you covered it?’
But thou
didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the
harlot because of thy
renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.
But because of your fame, you trusted in your beauty and played the
harlot. You
lavished your favors on
everyone who passed by, and your beauty was theirs for the
asking.
But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he
prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
But this king rebelled against Babylon by sending his envoys to Egypt to
ask for horses and a large army. Will he
flourish? Will the one who does such things escape? Can he break a covenant and yet escape?’
Yet say ye, Why?
doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
Yet you may ask, ‘Why shouldn’t the son bear the iniquity of his father?’ Since the son has done what is just and right, carefully observing all My statutes, he will surely live.
Then I said unto them, What is the high place
whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.
So I asked them: ‘What is this high place to which you go?’ (And to this day it is called Bamah.)
And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the
tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall
melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall
faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.
And when they
ask, ‘Why are you
groaning?’ you are to say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will
melt, and every hand will go
limp. Every spirit will
faint, and every
knee will turn to water.’
Yes, it is coming and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD.”
And the people said unto me,
Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
Then the people asked me, “Won’t you tell us what these things you are doing mean to us?”
And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
Then He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones come to life?” “O Lord GOD,” I replied, “only You know.”
And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying,
Wilt thou not
shew us what thou meanest by these?
When your people ask you, ‘Won’t you explain to us what you mean by these?’
Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of
Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a
spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great
spoil?
Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of
Tarshish with all its villages will
ask, ‘Have you come to capture the
plunder? Have you assembled your hordes to carry away
loot, to make off with silver and gold, to take cattle and goods, to seize great
spoil?’
And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the
brink of the river.
“Son of man, do you see this?” he asked. Then he led me back to the bank of the river.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he
drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not
defile himself.
But Daniel made up his mind that he would not
defile himself with the king’s food or wine. So he
asked the chief official for permission not to
defile himself.
The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can
shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that
asked such things at any
magician, or
astrologer, or
Chaldean.
The astrologers answered the king, “No one on earth can do what the king requests! No king, however great and powerful, has ever
asked anything like this of any
magician,
enchanter, or
astrologer.
He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, Why is the decree so
hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
“Why is the decree from the king so harsh?” he asked. At this time Arioch explained the situation to Daniel.
Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would
shew the king the interpretation.
So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him some time, so that he could give him the interpretation.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was
astonied, and rose up in
haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Suddenly King
Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in
amazement and
asked his advisers, “Did we not throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
