Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-
barnea to
inspect the land.
And your border shall turn from the south to the
ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadesh-
barnea, and shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass on to Azmon:
cross south of the
Ascent of Akrabbim, continue to Zin, and go south of Kadesh-
barnea. Then it will go on to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon,
(There are eleven days’ journey from
Horeb by the way of mount
Seir unto Kadesh-
barnea.)
It is an eleven-day journey from
Horeb to Kadesh-
barnea by way of Mount
Seir.
And when we departed from
Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the
Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-
barnea.
And just as the LORD our God had commanded us, we set out from
Horeb and went toward the hill country of the
Amorites, through all the vast and
terrifying wilderness you have seen. When we reached Kadesh-
barnea,
And the space in which we came from Kadesh-
barnea, until we were come over the
brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD
sware unto them.
The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-
barnea until we crossed over the
Brook of Zered was thirty-eight years, until that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had
sworn to them.
Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadesh-
barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor
hearkened to his voice.
And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh-barnea, He said, “Go up and possess the land that I have given you.” But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You neither believed Him nor obeyed Him.
The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
The LORD will decree a blessing on your
barns and on everything to which you put your hand; the LORD your God will
bless you in the land He is giving you.
And Joshua
smote them from Kadesh-
barnea even unto
Gaza, and all the country of
Goshen, even unto
Gibeon.
Joshua conquered the area from Kadesh-
barnea to
Gaza, and the whole region of
Goshen as far as
Gibeon.
Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in
Gilgal: and
Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh-
barnea.
Then the sons of Judah approached Joshua at
Gilgal, and
Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the LORD said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh-
barnea about you and me.
Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-
barnea to
espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-
barnea to
spy out the land, and I brought back to him an
honest report.
And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-
barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to
Adar, and
fetched a compass to Karkaa:
proceeded south of the
Ascent of Akrabbim, continued on to Zin, went over to the south of Kadesh-
barnea, ran past Hezron up to Addar, and curved toward Karka.
And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?
He answered, “If the LORD does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the
threshing floor or the winepress?”
Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy
barn?
Can you trust him to bring in your grain and gather it to your
threshing floor?
So shall thy
barns be filled with
plenty, and thy presses shall
burst out with new wine.
then your
barns will be filled with
plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
The seed is
rotten under their clods, the garners are laid
desolate, the
barns are broken down; for the corn is
withered.
The seeds lie
shriveled beneath the clods; the storehouses are in ruins; the
granaries are broken down, for the grain has
withered away.
Is the seed yet in the
barn?
yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the
pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I
bless you.
Is there still seed in the
barn? The vine, the fig, the
pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will
bless you.”
Whose
fan is in his hand, and he will throughly
purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the
garner; but he will burn up the
chaff with
unquenchable fire.
Behold the fowls of the air: for they
sow not, neither do they
reap, nor gather into
barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Look at the birds of the air: They do not
sow or
reap or gather into
barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and
tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat into my
barn.’”
Whose
fan is in his hand, and he will throughly
purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his
garner; but the
chaff he will burn with fire
unquenchable.
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my
barns, and build greater; and there will I
bestow all my fruits and my goods.
Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will
tear down my
barns and will build
bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods.
Consider the ravens: for they neither
sow nor
reap; which neither have
storehouse nor
barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
Consider the ravens: They do not
sow or
reap, they have no
storehouse or
barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds!
But
Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
Then
Barnabas brought him to the apostles and described how Saul had seen the Lord, who spoke to him on the road to Damascus, and how Saul had spoken boldly in that city in the name of Jesus.
Then
tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth
Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
When news of this reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, they sent
Barnabas to Antioch.
For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.
Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of
Barnabas and Saul.
This they did, sending their gifts to the elders with
Barnabas and Saul.
And
Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose
surname was Mark.
When
Barnabas and Saul had fulfilled their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, bringing with them John, also called Mark.
Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as
Barnabas, and
Simeon that was called
Niger, and
Lucius of
Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the
tetrarch, and Saul.
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me
Barnabas and Saul for the work
whereunto I have called them.
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me
Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto
Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to
Cyprus.
Which was with the deputy of the country,
Sergius Paulus, a
prudent man; who called for
Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
And when the Jews were gone out of the
synagogue, the Gentiles
besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
As Paul and
Barnabas were leaving the
synagogue, the people urged them to continue this message on the next Sabbath.
Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and
Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
After the
synagogue was dismissed, many of the Jews and
devout converts to
Judaism followed Paul and
Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
Then Paul and
Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge
yourselves unworthy of
everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
Then Paul and
Barnabas answered them boldly: “It was necessary to speak the word of God to you first. But since you
reject it and do not consider
yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
But the Jews
stirred up the
devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and
Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
The Jews, however, incited the religious women of prominence and the leading men of the city. They
stirred up persecution against Paul and
Barnabas and drove them out of their district.
And it came to pass in
Iconium, that they went both together into the
synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
At
Iconium, Paul and
Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish
synagogue, where they spoke so well that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed.
Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
So Paul and
Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who
affirmed the message of His grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders.
And they called
Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called
Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.
Which when the apostles,
Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
And with these sayings
scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.
Even with these words, Paul and
Barnabas could hardly stop the crowds from sacrificing to them.
Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with
Barnabas to Derbe.
But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. And the next day he left with
Barnabas for Derbe.
And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they
commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
Paul and
Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church, praying and fasting as they entrusted them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.
When therefore Paul and
Barnabas had no small
dissension and
disputation with them, they determined that Paul and
Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
And after
engaging these men in sharp
debate, Paul and
Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.
Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave
audience to
Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
The whole assembly fell silent as they
listened to
Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.
Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and
Barnabas; namely,
Judas surnamed Barsabas, and
Silas, chief men among the brethren:
Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to select men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and
Barnabas. They chose
Judas called Barsabbas and
Silas, two leaders among the brothers,
It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one
accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved
Barnabas and Paul,
So we all agreed to choose men to send to you along with our beloved
Barnabas and Paul,
Paul also and
Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
But Paul and
Barnabas remained at Antioch, along with many others, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord.
And some days after Paul said unto
Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
Some time later Paul said to
Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the brothers in every town where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing.”
Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark.
Their disagreement was so sharp that they parted company.
Barnabas took Mark and sailed for
Cyprus,
Or are
Barnabas and I the only apostles who must work for a living?
Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with
Barnabas, and took
Titus with me also.
Fourteen years later I went up again to Jerusalem, accompanied by
Barnabas. I took
Titus along also.
And when James,
Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and
Barnabas the right hands of
fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the
circumcision.
And recognizing the grace that I had been given, James,
Cephas, and John—those reputed to be pillars—gave me and
Barnabas the right hand of
fellowship, so that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the
circumcised.
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and
Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have already received instructions about him: If he comes to you,
welcome him.
And brought them to mount Sina, and Cades-Barne, and cast forth all that dwelt in the wilderness.
