And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall
assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
When both are sounded, the whole congregation is to
assemble before you at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And if they blow but with one
trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
But if only one is sounded, then the leaders, the heads of the clans of Israel, are to gather before you.
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an
alarm with the
trumpets; and ye shall be remembered
before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets, and you will be remembered
before the LORD your God and saved from your enemies.
Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a
memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
And on your
joyous occasions, your appointed feasts, and the beginning of each month, you are to blow the
trumpets over your burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings to serve as a reminder for you
before your God. I am the LORD your God.”
And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.
Then the Kohathites set out, transporting the holy objects; the tabernacle was to be set up before their arrival.
And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days’ journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.
So they set out on a three-day journey from the mountain of the LORD, with the ark of the covenant of the LORD traveling
ahead of them for those three days to seek a resting place for them.
And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that
hate thee
flee before thee.
Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say, “Rise up, O LORD! May Your enemies be scattered; may those who
hate You
flee before You.”
But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this
manna,
before our eyes.
But now our
appetite is gone; there is nothing to see but this
manna!”
But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be
loathsome unto you: because that ye have
despised the LORD which is among you, and have
wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and makes you
nauseous—because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have
cried out
before Him, saying, ‘Why did we ever leave Egypt?’”
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth,
ere it was
chewed, the wrath of the LORD was
kindled against the people, and the LORD
smote the people with a very great plague.
But while the meat was still between their teeth,
before it was
chewed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and the LORD struck them with a severe plague.
And they ascended by the south, and came unto
Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of
Anak, were. (Now
Hebron was built seven years
before Zoan in Egypt.)
They went up through the Negev and came to
Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of
Anak, dwelled. It had been built seven years
before Zoan in Egypt.
And
Caleb stilled the people
before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
Then
Caleb quieted the people
before Moses and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly
conquer it!”
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown before the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel.
But all the congregation
bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation
before all the children of Israel.
But the whole congregation threatened to stone Joshua and
Caleb. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest
before them, by
daytime in a
pillar of a cloud, and in a
pillar of fire by night.
And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go
before them in a
pillar of cloud by day and a
pillar of fire by night.
Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.
those men who had brought out the bad report about the land—were struck down by a plague before the LORD.
Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not
smitten before your enemies.
Do not go up, lest you be struck down by your enemies, because the LORD is not among you.
For the
Amalekites and the
Canaanites are there
before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.
For there the
Amalekites and
Canaanites will face you, and you will fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from the LORD, He will not be with you.”
One
ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an
ordinance for ever in your generations: as ye are, so shall the stranger be
before the LORD.
The assembly is to have the same statute both for you and for the foreign resident; it is a permanent statute for the generations to come. You and the foreigner shall be the same before the LORD.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be
forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering
before the LORD, for their ignorance:
The priest is to make
atonement for the whole congregation of Israel, so that they may be
forgiven; for the sin was
unintentional and they have brought to the LORD an offering made by fire and a sin offering, presented
before the LORD for their
unintentional sin.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance
before the LORD, to make an
atonement for him; and it shall be
forgiven him.
And they rose up
before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of
renown:
a rebellion against Moses, along with 250 men of Israel
renowned as leaders of the congregation and representatives in the assembly.
And put fire therein, and put incense in them
before the LORD to
morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD
doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
and
tomorrow you are to place fire and incense in them in the presence of the LORD. Then the man the LORD chooses will be the one who is holy. It is you sons of Levi who have taken too much upon
yourselves!”
Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
Is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel and brought you near to Himself to perform the work at the LORD’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them?
And Moses said unto
Korah, Be thou and all thy company
before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to
morrow:
And Moses said to
Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear
before the LORD
tomorrow—you and they and Aaron.
And take every man his
censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye
before the LORD every man his
censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his
censer.
Each man is to take his
censer, place incense in it, and present it
before the LORD—250 censers. You and Aaron are to present your censers as well.”
The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them
before the LORD, therefore they are
hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
As for the censers of those who
sinned at the cost of their own lives, hammer them into sheets to overlay the altar, for these were presented
before the LORD, and so have become holy. They will serve as a sign to the Israelites.”
To be a
memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense
before the LORD; that he be not as
Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
just as the LORD commanded him through Moses. This was to be a reminder to the Israelites that no outsider who is not a
descendant of Aaron should approach to offer incense
before the LORD, lest he become like
Korah and his followers.
And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting,
And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
Place the staffs in the Tent of Meeting in front of the Testimony, where I meet with you.
And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.
Then Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the Tent of the Testimony.
And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the LORD’s presence to all the Israelites. They saw them, and each man took his own staff.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again
before the testimony, to be kept for a
token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
The LORD said to Moses, “Put Aaron’s staff back in front of the Testimony, to be kept as a sign for the
rebellious, so that you may put an end to their
grumbling against Me, lest they die.”
And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
But bring with you also your brothers from the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may join you and assist you and your sons before the Tent of the Testimony.
All the
heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever
before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
All the holy offerings that the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and to your sons and daughters as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the LORD for you and your offspring.”
And ye shall give her unto
Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall
slay her
before his face:
Give it to
Eleazar the priest, and he will have it brought outside the camp and slaughtered in his presence.
And
Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and
sprinkle of her blood directly
before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:
Eleazar the priest is to take some of its blood on his finger and
sprinkle it seven times toward the front of the Tent of Meeting.
And the people
chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died
before the LORD!
The people quarreled with Moses and said, “If only we had perished with our brothers before the LORD!
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
“Take the staff and
assemble the congregation. You and your brother Aaron are to speak to the rock while they watch, and it will pour out its water. You will bring out water from the rock and provide drink for the congregation and their
livestock.”
And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence, just as he had been commanded.
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together
before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we
fetch you water out of this rock?
Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly in front of the rock, and Moses said to them, “
Listen now, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?”
And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is
before Moab, toward the
sunrising.
They journeyed from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim in the wilderness opposite Moab to the east.
And the
ass said unto
Balaam, Am not I thine
ass, upon which thou hast
ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever
wont to do so unto thee? And he said,
Nay.
But the
donkey said to
Balaam, “Am I not the
donkey you have
ridden all your life until
today? Have I ever treated you this way
before?” “No,” he replied.
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou
smitten thine
ass these three times? behold, I went out to
withstand thee, because thy way is
perverse before me:
The angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your
donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to
oppose you, because your way is
perverse before me.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and
hang them up
before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of the people and
execute them in broad
daylight before the LORD, so that His fierce anger may turn away from Israel.”
And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were
weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Just then an
Israelite man brought to his family a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and the whole congregation of Israel while they were
weeping at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
And
Nadab and
Abihu died, when they offered strange fire
before the LORD.
but
Nadab and
Abihu died when they offered unauthorized fire
before the LORD.
And they stood
before Moses, and
before Eleazar the priest, and
before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, stood
before Moses,
Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole congregation, and said,
And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
So Moses brought their case before the LORD,
For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the
strife of the congregation, to
sanctify me at the water
before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
for when the congregation
contended in the Wilderness of Zin, both of you rebelled against My command to show My
holiness in their sight regarding the waters.” Those were the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin.
Which may go out
before them, and which may go in
before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no
shepherd.
who will go out and come in
before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the LORD will not be like sheep without a
shepherd.”
And set him
before Eleazar the priest, and
before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
Have him stand
before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, and commission him in their sight.
And he shall stand
before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of
Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
He shall stand
before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him
before the LORD by the judgment of the
Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”
And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him
before Eleazar the priest, and
before all the congregation:
Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. He took Joshua, had him stand
before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation,
We have therefore brought an
oblation for the LORD, what every man hath
gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an
atonement for our souls
before the LORD.
So we have brought to the LORD an offering of the gold articles each man acquired—armlets, bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces—to make
atonement for ourselves
before the LORD.”
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a
memorial for the children of Israel
before the LORD.
And Moses and
Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the Tent of Meeting as a
memorial for the Israelites
before the LORD.
Even the country which the LORD
smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:
which the LORD conquered
before the congregation of Israel, are suitable for
livestock—and your servants have
livestock.”
But we ourselves will go ready armed
before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the
fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
But we will arm ourselves and be ready to go
ahead of the Israelites until we have brought them into their place. Meanwhile, our little ones will remain in the fortified cities for protection from the inhabitants of the land.
And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war,
Moses replied, “If you will do this—if you will arm
yourselves before the LORD for battle,
And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,
and if every one of your armed men crosses the Jordan before the LORD, until He has driven His enemies out before Him,
And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.
then when the land is subdued before the LORD, you may return and be free of obligation to the LORD and to Israel. And this land will belong to you as a possession before the LORD.
But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.
But your servants are
equipped for war, and every man will cross over to the battle
before the LORD, just as our lord says.”
And Moses said unto them, If the children of
Gad and the children of
Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle,
before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued
before you; then ye shall give them the land of
Gilead for a possession:
And Moses said to them, “If the Gadites and Reubenites cross the Jordan with you, with every man armed for battle
before the LORD, and the land is subdued
before you, then you are to give them the land of
Gilead as a possession.
We will pass over armed
before the LORD into the land of
Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
We will cross over into the land of
Canaan armed
before the LORD, that we may have our inheritance on this side of the Jordan.”
And they removed from Etham, and turned again unto
Pi-hahiroth, which is
before Baal-zephon: and they pitched
before Migdol.
They set out from Etham and turned back to
Pi-hahiroth, opposite
Baal-zephon, and they camped near
Migdol.
And they departed from
before Pi-hahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in
Marah.
They set out from
Pi-hahiroth and crossed through the sea, into the wilderness, and they journeyed three days into the Wilderness of Etham and camped at
Marah.
And they removed from
Almon-diblathaim, and pitched in the mountains of Abarim,
before Nebo.
They set out from
Almon-diblathaim and camped in the mountains of Abarim facing
Nebo.
Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from
before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their
molten images, and quite
pluck down all their high places:
you must drive out
before you all the inhabitants of the land, destroy all their carved images and cast idols, and
demolish all their high places.
But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from
before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall
vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land
before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will
harass you in the land where you settle.
And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the
avenger; that the
manslayer die not, until he stand
before the congregation in judgment.
You are to have these cities as a refuge from the
avenger, so that the
manslayer will not die until he stands trial
before the assembly.
And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
Nor should you accept a
ransom for the person who flees to a city of refuge and allow him to return and live on his own land
before the death of the high priest.
And the chief fathers of the families of the children of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake
before Moses, and
before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:
Now the family heads of the clan of
Gilead son of Machir son of
Manasseh, one of the clans of Joseph, approached Moses and the leaders who were the heads of the
Israelite families and addressed them,
Behold, I have set the land
before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD
sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
See, I have placed the land
before you. Enter and possess the land that the LORD
swore He would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants after them.”
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
See, the LORD your God has placed the land before you. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”
And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
Then all of you approached me and said, “Let us send men
ahead of us to search out the land and bring us word of what route to follow and which cities to enter.”
The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
The LORD your God, who goes before you, will fight for you, just as you saw Him do for you in Egypt
Who went in the way
before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to
shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
who went before you on the journey, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day, to seek out a place for you to camp and to show you the road to travel.
But Joshua the son of
Nun, which standeth
before thee, he shall go in thither:
encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to
inherit it.
Joshua son of
Nun, who stands
before you, will enter it.
Encourage him, for he will enable Israel to
inherit the land.
And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be
smitten before your enemies.
But the LORD said to me, “Tell them not to go up and fight, for I am not with you to keep you from defeat by your enemies.”
And ye returned and
wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not
hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
And you returned and
wept before the LORD, but He would not
listen to your voice or give ear to you.
The Horims also dwelt in
Seir beforetime; but the children of
Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from
before them, and dwelt in their
stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.
The Horites used to live in
Seir, but the descendants of
Esau drove them out. They destroyed the Horites from
before them and settled in their place, just as Israel did in the land that the LORD gave them as their possession.)
A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them
before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their
stead:
They were a people great and many, as tall as the Anakites. But the LORD destroyed them from
before the
Ammonites, who drove them out and settled in their place,
As he did to the children of
Esau, which dwelt in
Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from
before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their
stead even unto this day:
just as He had done for the descendants of
Esau who lived in
Seir, when He destroyed the Horites from
before them. They drove them out and have lived in their place to this day.
And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land
before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest
inherit his land.
Then the LORD said to me, “See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his land over to you. Now begin to
conquer and possess his land.”
And the LORD our God delivered him
before us; and we
smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
And the LORD our God delivered him over to us, and we defeated him and his sons and his whole army.
And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.
At that time I commanded you: “The LORD your God has given you this land to possess. All your men of
valor are to cross over, armed for battle,
ahead of your brothers, the Israelites.
But charge Joshua, and
encourage him, and
strengthen him: for he shall go over
before this people, and he shall cause them to
inherit the land which thou shalt see.
But commission Joshua,
encourage him, and
strengthen him, for he will cross over
ahead of the people and enable them to
inherit the land that you will see.”
And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
And what nation is great enough to have righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set
before you
today?
Specially the day that thou stoodest
before the LORD thy God in
Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
The day you stood
before the LORD your God at
Horeb, the LORD said to me, “Gather the people
before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”
For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
Indeed, ask now from one end of the heavens to the other about the days that long preceded you, from the day that God created man on earth: Has anything as great as this ever happened or been reported?
Or hath God
assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt
before your eyes?
Or has any god tried to take as his own a nation out of another nation—by trials, signs, wonders, and war, by a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors—as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt, before your eyes?
To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
to drive out before you nations greater and mightier than you, and to bring you into their land and give it to you for your inheritance, as it is this day.
And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:
This is the law that Moses set before the Israelites.
Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
You shall have no other gods before Me.
To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.
driving out all your enemies before you, as the LORD has said.
And the LORD shewed signs and wonders, great and
sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household,
before our eyes:
Before our eyes the LORD inflicted great and
devastating signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household.
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
And if we are careful to observe every one of these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us, then that will be our righteousness.”
When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land
whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations
before thee, the
Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the
Amorites, and the
Canaanites, and the
Perizzites, and the
Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
When the LORD your God brings you into the land that you are entering to possess, and He drives out
before you many nations—the
Hittites, Girgashites,
Amorites,
Canaanites,
Perizzites,
Hivites, and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you—
And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them
before thee; thou shalt
smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor
shew mercy unto them:
and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you to defeat them, then you must
devote them to complete destruction. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy.
And the LORD thy God will put out those nations
before thee by little and little: thou mayest not
consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
