And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy
birth and thy
nativity is of the land of
Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.
and tell her that this is what the Lord GOD says to Jerusalem: Your origin and your
birth were in the land of the
Canaanites. Your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.
On the day of your
birth your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for
cleansing. You were not
rubbed with salt or
wrapped in cloths.
None eye
pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have
compassion upon thee; but thou
wast cast out in the open field, to the
lothing of thy person, in the day that thou
wast born.
No one cared enough for you to do even one of these things out of
compassion for you. Instead, you were thrown out into the open field, because you were
despised on the day of your
birth.
In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly
cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
I will plant it on the mountain heights of Israel so that it will bear branches; it will yield fruit and become a
majestic cedar.
Birds of every kind will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches.
And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and
Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem
Aholibah.
The older was named Oholah, and her sister was named Oholibah. They became Mine and gave
birth to sons and daughters. As for their
identities, Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.
Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in
dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of
Chaldea, the land of their
nativity:
wearing belts on their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like officers of the Babylonians in
Chaldea, the land of their
birth.
And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven.
I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and will not be taken away or gathered for burial. I have given you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air.
All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.
All the birds of the air nested in its branches, and all the beasts of the field gave birth beneath its boughs; all the great nations lived in its shade.
Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:
All the birds of the air nested on its fallen trunk, and all the beasts of the field lived among its boughs.
Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
I will
abandon you on the land and
hurl you into the open field. I will cause all the
birds of the air to settle upon you, and all the beasts of the earth to eat their fill of you.
So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all
creeping things that
creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall
shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
The fish of the sea, the
birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that crawls upon the ground, and all mankind on the face of the earth will
tremble at My presence. The mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will
collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.
Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the
ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be
devoured.
On the mountains of Israel you will fall—you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to every kind of
ravenous bird and wild beast.
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every
feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field,
Assemble yourselves, and come; gather
yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of
bird and to every beast of the field: ‘
Assemble and come together from all around to the
sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.
The priests shall not eat of any thing that is dead of itself, or
torn, whether it be fowl or beast.
The priests may not eat any
bird or animal found dead or
torn by wild beasts.
And
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
Wherever the sons of men or beasts of the field or birds of the air dwell, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.
The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit was abundant, and upon it was food for all. Under it the beasts of the field found shelter, in its branches the birds of the air nested, and from it every creature was fed.
He
cried aloud, and said thus,
Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches,
shake off his leaves, and
scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
He called out in a loud voice: ‘Cut down the tree and
chop off its branches; strip off its leaves and
scatter its fruit. Let the beasts
flee from under it, and the
birds from its branches.
Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their
habitation:
whose foliage was beautiful and whose fruit was abundant, providing food for all, under which the beasts of the field lived, and in whose branches the birds of the air nested—
The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon
Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the
dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles feathers, and his
nails like
birds’ claws.
At that moment the sentence against
Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from mankind. He
ate grass like an ox, and his body was
drenched with the
dew of heaven, until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his
nails like the claws of a
bird.
After this I
beheld, and lo another, like a
leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Next, as I watched, another beast appeared. It was like a
leopard, and on its back it had four wings like those of a
bird. The beast also had four heads, and it was given authority to rule.
And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.
Gomer again conceived and gave
birth to a daughter, and the LORD said to
Hosea, “Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer have
compassion on the house of Israel, that I should ever
forgive them.
Now when she had
weaned Lo-ruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son.
After she had
weaned Lo-ruhamah,
Gomer conceived and gave
birth to a son.
Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and
slay her with
thirst.
Otherwise, I will strip her naked and
expose her like the day of her
birth. I will make her like a desert and turn her into a
parched land, and I will let her die of
thirst.
And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the
creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.
On that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the
birds of the air and the creatures that
crawl on the ground. And I will
abolish bow and sword and weapons of war in the land, and will make them lie down in safety.
Therefore shall the land
mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall
languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven;
yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea disappear.
When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will
chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
As they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like
birds of the air. I will
chastise them when I hear them flocking together.
As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a
bird, from the
birth, and from the
womb, and from the conception.
Ephraim’s glory will fly away like a
bird, with no
birth, no
pregnancy, and no conception.
They shall
tremble as a
bird out of Egypt, and as a
dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
They will come
trembling like
birds from Egypt and like doves from the land of Assyria. Then I will settle them in their homes, declares the LORD.
Can a
bird fall in a
snare upon the earth, where no
gin is for him? shall one take up a
snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
Does a
bird land in a
snare where no
bait has been set? Does a
trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?
Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the
remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
Therefore Israel will be abandoned until she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of His brothers will return to the children of Israel.
I will
consume man and beast; I will
consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will
sweep away man and beast; I will
sweep away the
birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and the idols with their wicked worshipers. I will cut off mankind from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
Now the
birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
This is how the
birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was
pledged in marriage to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name
Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
“Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give
birth to a son, and they will call Him
Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).
And knew her not till she had brought forth her
firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
Behold the fowls of the air: for they
sow not, neither do they
reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Look at the
birds of the air: They do not
sow or
reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
And when he
sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and
devoured them up:
And as he was
sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the
birds came and
devoured it.
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the
birds of the air come and
lodge in the branches thereof.
Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
But when Herod’s
birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
On Herod’s
birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
All these are the beginning of birth pains.
And it came to pass, as he
sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and
devoured it up.
And as he was
sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the
birds came and
devoured it.
But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may
lodge under the shadow of it.
But after it is planted, it grows to be the largest of all garden plants and puts forth great branches, so that the birds of the air nest in its shade.”
And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his
birthday made a
supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of
Galilee;
On Herod’s
birthday, her opportunity arose. Herod held a
banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of
Galilee.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in
divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, as well as famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will
rejoice at his
birth,
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy
womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.

trodden down, and the fowls of the air
devoured it.

sow his seed. And as he was
sowing, some seed fell along the path, where it was
trampled, and the
birds of the air
devoured it.
And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
Consider the ravens: for they neither
sow nor
reap; which neither have
storehouse nor
barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
Consider the ravens: They do not
sow or
reap, they have no
storehouse or
barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the
birds!
It is like a grain of
mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air
lodged in the branches of it.
It is like a
mustard seed that a man
tossed into his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the
birds of the air nested in its branches.”
He said therefore, A certain
nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
So He said, “A man of noble
birth went to a distant country to lay claim to his
kingship and then return.
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
Now as Jesus was passing by, He saw a man blind from birth,
And a certain man
lame from his mother’s
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask
alms of them that entered into the temple;
And a man who was
lame from
birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to
beg from those entering the temple courts.
Wherein were all manner of
fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and
creeping things, and fowls of the air.
It contained all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, as well as birds of the air.
Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw
fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and
creeping things, and fowls of the air.
I looked at it closely and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air.
In
Lystra there sat a man
crippled in his feet, who was
lame from
birth and had never walked.
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to
birds, and
fourfooted beasts, and
creeping things.
and exchanged the glory of the
immortal God for images of
mortal man and
birds and animals and reptiles.
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth.
And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another.
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
We who are Jews by
birth and not
Gentile “sinners”
My little children, of whom I
travail in
birth again until Christ be formed in you,
My children, for whom I am again in the pains of
childbirth until Christ is formed in you,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new
birth and
renewal by the Holy Spirit.
By faith Moses, when he was born, was
hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
By faith Moses’ parents
hid him for three months after his
birth, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and they were unafraid of the king’s edict.
See to it that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like
Esau, who for a single meal sold his
birthright.
Then when
lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Of his own will
begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of His creation.
For every kind of beasts, and of
birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is
tamed, and hath been
tamed of mankind:
All kinds of animals,
birds, reptiles, and creatures of the sea are being
tamed and have been
tamed by man,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath
begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
And she being with child
cried,
travailing in
birth, and pained to be delivered.
She was
pregnant and crying out in the pain and
agony of giving
birth.
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the
dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to
devour her child as soon as it was born.
His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky,
tossing them to the earth. And the
dragon stood before the woman who was about to give
birth, ready to
devour her child as soon as she gave
birth.
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
And she gave
birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron
scepter. And her child was caught up to God and to His throne.
And when the
dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he
persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
And when the
dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given
birth to the male child.
And he
cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the
habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a
cage of every unclean and
hateful bird.
And he
cried out in a mighty voice: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a
lair for demons and a
haunt for every unclean spirit, every unclean
bird, and every
detestable beast.
And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he
cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather
yourselves together unto the
supper of the great God;
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he
cried out in a loud voice to all the
birds flying overhead, “Come, gather together for the great
supper of God,
And the
remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
And the rest were killed with the sword that proceeded from the mouth of the One seated on the horse. And all the
birds gorged themselves on their flesh.
So he answered me, and said, Go thy way to a woman with child, and ask of her when she hath fulfilled her nine months, if her
womb may keep the
birth any longer within her.
And the men that are received shall see it, who have not tasted death from their birth: and the heart of the inhabitants shall be changed, and turned into another meaning.
As when a woman with child in the ninth month bringeth forth her son, with two or three hours of her
birth great pains compass her
womb, which pains, when the child cometh forth, they
slack not a moment:
Or as when a
bird hath
flown through the air, there is no
token of her way to be found, but the light air being beaten with the stroke of her wings and parted with the violent noise and motion of them, is passed through, and therein afterwards no sign where she went is to be found;
For there is no king that had any other beginning of birth.
Whether it were a
whistling wind, or a
melodious noise of
birds among the spreading branches, or a pleasing fall of water running violently,
Whoso casteth a stone at the
birds frayeth them away: and he that upbraideth his friend breaketh friendship.
The
birds will resort unto their like; so will truth return unto them that
practise in her.
As one that letteth a bird go out of his hand, so hast thou let thy neighbour go, and shalt not get him again
The noise of the
thunder maketh the earth to
tremble: so
doth the northern storm and the
whirlwind: as
birds flying he scattereth the snow, and the falling down thereof is as the lighting of grasshoppers:
Upon their bodies and heads sit bats,
swallows, and
birds, and the cats also.
And likewise their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold, are like to a white
thorn in an
orchard, that every
bird sitteth upon; as also to a dead body, that is east into the dark.
And in the day of the king’s
birth every month they were brought by bitter
constraint to eat of the sacrifices; and when the fast of
Bacchus was kept, the Jews were compelled to go in
procession to
Bacchus, carrying
ivy.
Choosing rather to die
manfully, than to come into the hands of the wicked, to be
abused otherwise than
beseemed his noble
birth:
