And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
After three days, he called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had gathered, he said to them, “Brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, I was taken prisoner in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.
And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that
came shewed or spake any
harm of thee.
The leaders replied, “We have not received any letters about you from
Judea, nor have any of the brothers from there reported or even mentioned anything bad about you.
And when they had appointed him a day, there
came many to him into his
lodging; to whom he
expounded and
testified the kingdom of God,
persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.
So they set a day to meet with Paul, and many people
came to the place he was staying. He
expounded to them from morning to evening,
testifying about the kingdom of God and
persuading them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets.
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own
hired house, and received all that
came in unto him,
Paul stayed there two full years in his own rented house,
welcoming all who
came to visit him.
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
But the gift is not like the
trespass. For if the many died by the
trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that
came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment
came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift
came upon all men unto
justification of life.
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
The law
came in so that the
trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment
came, sin
sprang to life and I died.
Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ
came, who is over all, God blessed for ever.
Amen.
Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them proceeds the human descent of Christ, who is God over all,
forever worthy of praise!
Amen.
And I, brethren, when I
came to you,
came not with
excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much
trembling.
I
came to you in weakness and fear, and with much
trembling.
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.
For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
For just as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
Did the word of God
originate with you? Or are you the only ones it has reached?
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which
came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength,
insomuch that we
despaired even of life:
We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the hardships we
encountered in the province of Asia. We were under a burden far beyond our ability to
endure, so that we
despaired even of life.
Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to
spare you I
came not as yet unto Corinth.
I call God as my witness that it was in order to
spare you that I did not return to Corinth.
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I
came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to
rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
I wrote as I did so that on my arrival I would not be
saddened by those who ought to make me
rejoice. I had confidence in all of you, that you would share my joy.
Now when I went to
Troas to
preach the gospel of Christ and a door stood open for me in the Lord,
But if the
ministration of death, written and
engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not
stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
Now if the ministry of death, which was engraved in letters on stone,
came with such glory that the Israelites could not
gaze at the face of Moses because of its fleeting glory,
For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
For if what was
fading away
came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which endures!
And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which
came from
Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being
burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
And when I was with you and in need, I was not a burden to
anyone; for the brothers who
came from
Macedonia supplied my needs. I have
refrained from being a burden to you in any way, and I will continue to do so.
Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the apostles who came before me, but I went into Arabia and later returned to Damascus.
Afterwards I
came into the regions of Syria and
Cilicia;
Later I went to the regions of Syria and
Cilicia.
And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who
came in
privily to
spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into
bondage:
This issue arose because some false brothers had come in under false pretenses to
spy on our freedom in Christ Jesus, in order to
enslave us.
But when Peter was come to Antioch, I
withstood him to the face, because he was to be
blamed.
When
Cephas came to Antioch, however, I opposed him to his face, because he stood to be condemned.
For before that certain
came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the
circumcision.
For before certain men
came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself, for fear of those in the
circumcision group.
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot
disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
What I mean is this: The law that
came 430 years later does not
revoke the covenant previously established by God, so as to
nullify the promise.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Before this faith
came, we were held in
custody under the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.
And
came and preached peace to you which were
afar off, and to them that were
nigh.
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.
But ye have not so learned Christ;
But this is not the way you came to know Christ.
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with great conviction—just as you know we lived among you for your sake.
For
verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer
tribulation; even as it
came to pass, and ye know.
Indeed, when we were with you, we kept
warning you that we would suffer persecution; and as you know, it has come to pass.
But now when
Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good
tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good
remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
But just now,
Timothy has returned from his visit with the good news about your faith, your love, and the fond
memories you have preserved, longing to see us just as we long to see you.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all
acceptation, that Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
This is a
trustworthy saying, worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.
Persecutions, afflictions, which
came unto me at Antioch, at
Iconium, at
Lystra; what persecutions I
endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
my persecutions, and the sufferings that
came upon me in Antioch,
Iconium, and
Lystra. What persecutions I
endured! Yet the Lord
rescued me from all of them.
For some, when they had heard, did
provoke:
howbeit not all that
came out of Egypt by Moses.
For who were the ones who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?
For the law maketh men high priests which have
infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for
evermore.
For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which
came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect
forever.
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made by hands and is not a part of this creation.
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me.
Therefore
sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
And so from one man, and he as good as dead,
came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the
seashore.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.
For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Although the high priest brings the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, the bodies are burned outside the camp.
Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace He bore.
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
For He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice
came to Him from the
Majestic Glory, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
And we ourselves heard this voice from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ—not by water alone, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies to this, because the Spirit is the truth.
For I
rejoiced greatly, when the brethren
came and
testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
For I was overjoyed when the brothers
came and
testified about your devotion to the truth, in which you continue to walk.
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp
twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword
came from His mouth. His face was like the sun
shining at its brightest.
And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
From the throne
came flashes of
lightning, and rumblings, and peals of
thunder. Before the throne burned seven torches of fire. These are the seven Spirits of God.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
“Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things; by Your will they exist and came to be.”
And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
And He
came and took the
scroll from the right hand of the One seated on the throne.
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are
arrayed in white robes? and whence
came they?
Then one of the elders addressed me: “These in white robes,” he asked, “who are they, and where have they come from?”
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which
came out of great
tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
“Sir,” I answered, “you know.” So he replied, “These are the ones who have come out of the great
tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
And another angel
came and stood at the altar, having a golden
censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
Then another angel, who had a golden
censer,
came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne.
And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
And the smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, rose up before God from the hand of the angel.
And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
And out of the smoke, locusts descended on the earth, and they were given power like that of the scorpions of the earth.
And another angel
came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy
sickle, and
reap: for the time is come for thee to
reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
Then another angel
came out of the temple, crying out in a loud voice to the One seated on the cloud, “
Swing Your
sickle and
reap, because the time has come to harvest; for the crop of the earth is ripe.”
And another angel
came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp
sickle.
Then another angel
came out of the temple in heaven, and he too had a sharp
sickle.
And another angel
came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and
cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp
sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp
sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
Still another angel, with authority over the fire,
came from the altar and called out in a loud voice to the angel with the sharp
sickle, “
Swing your sharp
sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the vine of the earth, because its grapes are ripe.”
And the winepress was
trodden without the city, and blood
came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
And the winepress was
trodden outside the city, and the blood that flowed from it rose as high as the bridles of the horses for a distance of 1,600
stadia.
And the seven angels
came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts
girded with golden girdles.
And out of the temple
came the seven angels with the seven plagues, dressed in clean and bright linen and
girded with golden sashes around their chests.
And the seventh angel poured out his
vial into the air; and there
came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
Then the seventh angel poured out his
bowl into the air, and a loud voice
came from the throne in the temple, saying, “It is done!”
And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon
came in
remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations
collapsed. And God remembered Babylon the great and gave her the cup of the wine of the
fury of His wrath.
And there
came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come
hither; I will
shew unto thee the judgment of the great
whore that sitteth upon many waters:
Then one of the seven angels with the seven
bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great
prostitute, who sits on many waters.
And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you who serve Him, and those who fear Him, small and great alike!”
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Then I saw the thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image, and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. And they
came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the
camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire
came down from God out of heaven, and
devoured them.
And they marched across the broad
expanse of the earth and surrounded the
camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire
came down from heaven and consumed them.
And there
came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come
hither, I will
shew thee the
bride, the Lamb’s wife.
Then one of the seven angels with the seven
bowls full of the seven final plagues
came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the
bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
As for the things that
came to pass in his time, they were written in former times, concerning those that
sinned, and did wickedly against the Lord above all people and kingdoms, and how they
grieved him exceedingly, so that the words of the Lord rose up against Israel.
Now after all these acts of Josias it came to pass, that Pharaoh the king of Egypt came to raise war at Carchamis upon Euphrates: and Josias went out against him.
But joined battle with him in the plain of Magiddo, and the princes came against king Josias.
Wherefore against him Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon came up, and bound him with a chain of brass, and carried him into Babylon.
And he said, Call the young men, and they shall declare their own sentences. So they were called, and came in.
Even of them
came they: and they
nourished them up that planted the vineyards, from whence the wine cometh.
Then said he unto the king, Remember thy
vow, which thou hast
vowed to build Jerusalem, in the day when thou
camest to thy kingdom,
And so he took the letters, and went out, and came unto Babylon, and told it all his brethren.
And these are they of
Jewry that
came up from the captivity, where they dwelt as strangers, whom Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon had carried away unto Babylon.
And they returned unto Jerusalem, and to the other parts of
Jewry, every man to his own city, who
came with Zorobabel, with Jesus, Nehemias, and
Zacharias, and Reesaias, Enenius, Mardocheus. Beelsarus, Aspharasus, Reelius, Roimus, and Baana, their guides.
These came up from Thermeleth and Thelersas, Charaathalar leading them, and Aalar;
Four hundred thirty and five camels, seven thousand thirty and six horses, two hundred forty and five mules, five thousand five hundred twenty and five beasts used to the yoke.
And certain of the chief of their families, when they
came to the temple of God that is in Jerusalem,
vowed to set up the house again in his own place according to their ability,
But when the seventh month was at hand, and when the children of Israel were every man in his own place, they came all together with one consent into the open place of the first gate which is toward the east.
Also of the priests and Levites, and of the chief of their families, the ancients who had seen the former house
came to the building of this with
weeping and great crying.
Wherefore when the enemies of the tribe of Judah and Benjamin heard it, they
came to know what that noise of
trumpets should mean.
At the same time came unto them Sisinnes the governor of Syria and Phenice, with Sathrabuzanes and his companions, and said unto them,
And the children of Israel that came out of the captivity did eat, even all they that had separated themselves from the abominations of the people of the land, and sought the Lord.
And after these things, when Artexerxes the king of the Persians reigned
came Esdras the son of Saraias, the son of Ezerias, the son of Helchiah, the son of Salum,
In the seventh year of the reign of Artexerxes, in the fifth month, this was the king’s seventh year; for they went from Babylon in the first day of the first month, and came to Jerusalem, according to the prosperous journey which the Lord gave them.
Now the copy of the commission, which was written from Artexerxes the king, and
came to
Esdras the priest and reader of the law of the Lord, is this that followeth;
And from the river Theras we departed the
twelfth day of the first month, and
came to Jerusalem by the mighty hand of our Lord, which was with us: and from the beginning of our journey the Lord delivered us from every enemy, and so we
came to Jerusalem.
Now when these things were done, the rulers came unto me, and said,
And the whole multitude
came together with one
accord into the broad place of the holy
porch toward the east:
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
I
Esdras received a charge of the Lord upon the mount Oreb, that I should go unto Israel; but when I
came unto them, they set me at
nought, and
despised the commandment of the Lord.
In the
thirtieth year after the ruin of the city I was in Babylon, and lay troubled upon my bed, and my thoughts
came up over my heart:
And thou leadest him into
paradise, which thy right hand had planted, before ever the earth
came forward.
And unto him thou gavest commandment to love thy way: which he
transgressed, and immediately thou appointedst death in him and in his generations, of whom
came nations, tribes, people, and kindreds, out of number.
And it came to pass in every of them, that as death was to Adam, so was the flood to these.
