wilt thou turn away the face of one
captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for
chariots and for
horsemen?

chariots and
horsemen?

Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the
chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.

If they sin against thee, (for there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be
angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, and they carry them away
captives unto a land far off or near;
When they sin against You—for there is no one who does not sin—and You become
angry with them and deliver them to an enemy who takes them as
captives to a land far or near,
Yet if they
bethink themselves in the land
whither they are carried
captive, and turn and pray unto thee in the land of their
captivity, saying, We have
sinned, we have done
amiss, and have dealt wickedly;
and when they come to their senses in the land to which they were taken, and they
repent and
plead with You in the land of their
captors, saying, ‘We have
sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’
If they return to thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their
captivity,
whither they have carried them
captives, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name:
and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,
And Solomon went to
Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it.
Then Solomon went to
Hamath-zobah and
captured it.
But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his
captains, and
captains of his
chariots and
horsemen.
But Solomon did not
consign any of the Israelites to slave labor, because they were his men of war, his officers and
captains, and the commanders of his
chariots and cavalry.
And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to

And, behold, God himself is with us for our
captain, and his priests with sounding
trumpets to cry
alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not
prosper.
Now behold, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with their
trumpets sound the battle call against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”
And
Abijah pursued after
Jeroboam, and took cities from him,

Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron, along with their villages.
And when
Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of
Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the
abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the
porch of the LORD.
When
Asa heard these words and the prophecy of
Azariah son of
Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the

captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the
portico of the LORD’s temple.

And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
These are their numbers according to the houses of their fathers: From Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him 300,000 mighty men of
valor;
And next to him was Jehohanan the
captain, and with him two hundred and
fourscore thousand.
next to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him 280,000;
Now the king of Syria had commanded the
captains of the
chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.
Now the king of
Aram had ordered his
chariot commanders, “Do not fight with
anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”
And it came to pass, when the
captains of the
chariots saw
Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but
Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
When the
chariot commanders saw
Jehoshaphat, they said, “This is the king of Israel!” So they turned to fight against him, but
Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.
For it came to pass, that, when the
captains of the
chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.
And when the
chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his
chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and
smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the
captains of the
chariots.
So Jehoram crossed into
Edom with his officers and all his
chariots. When the Edomites surrounded him and his
chariot commanders, he rose up and attacked by night.
And he sought
Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was
hid in Samaria,) and brought him to
Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of
Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the house of
Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom.
Then
Jehu looked for
Ahaziah, and
Jehu’s soldiers
captured him while he was hiding in Samaria. So
Ahaziah was brought to
Jehu and put to death. They buried him, for they said, “He is the grandson of
Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart.” So no one was left from the house of
Ahaziah with the strength to rule the kingdom.
And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the

Azariah the son of Jeroham, and
Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and
Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.
Then in the seventh year, Jehoiada strengthened himself and made a covenant with the commanders of hundreds—with
Azariah son of Jeroham,
Ishmael son of Jehohanan,
Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri.
Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David’s, which were in the house of God.
Then Jehoiada the priest gave to the commanders of hundreds the spears and the large and small shields of King David that were in the house of God.
Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the
captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and
whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said,
Slay her not in the house of the LORD.
And Jehoiada the priest sent out the commanders of hundreds in charge of the army, saying, “Bring her out between the ranks, and put to the sword
anyone who follows her.” For the priest had said, “She must not be put to death in the house of the LORD.”
And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
He also took with him the commanders of hundreds, the nobles, the rulers of the people, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD and entered the royal palace through the Upper Gate. They seated King
Joash on the royal throne,
Moreover
Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them
captains over thousands, and
captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle
spear and shield.
Then
Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000 chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the
spear and shield.
And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away
captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.
and the army of Judah also
captured 10,000 men alive. They took them to the top of a
cliff and threw them down so that all were
dashed to pieces.
