Whether Paul, or Apollos, or
Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to
come; all are yours;
whether Paul or Apollos or
Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. All of them belong to you,
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord
comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will
expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.
Now some are
puffed up, as though I would not
come to you.
Some of you have become
arrogant, as if I were not coming to you.
But I will
come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are
puffed up, but the power.
But I will
come to you shortly, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out not only what these
arrogant people are saying, but what power they have.
What will ye? shall I
come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of
meekness?
Which do you
prefer? Shall I
come to you with a rod, or in love and with a gentle spirit?
Do not deprive each other, except by mutual consent and for a time, so you may
devote yourselves to prayer. Then
come together again, so that
Satan will not
tempt you through your lack of self-control.
And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a
snare upon you, but for that which is
comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but in order to promote proper
decorum and undivided devotion to the Lord.
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our
admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are
come.
Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the
fulfillment of the ages has
come.
For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
For man did not come from woman, but woman from man.
For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
For just as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
Judge in
yourselves: is it
comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
Judge for
yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
In the following instructions I have no praise to offer, because your gatherings do more
harm than good.
For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
First of all, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.
When ye
come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s
supper.
Now then, when you
come together, it is not the Lord’s
Supper you eat.
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do
shew the Lord’s death till he
come.
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you
proclaim the Lord’s death until He
comes.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
Now if we judged ourselves properly, we would not come under judgment.
Wherefore, my brethren, when ye
come together to eat,
tarry one for another.
So, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye
come not together unto
condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I
come.
If
anyone is
hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you
come together it will not result in judgment. And when I
come, I will give instructions about the remaining matters.
And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we
bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant
comeliness.
and the parts we consider less honorable, we treat with greater honor. And our unpresentable parts are treated with special
modesty,
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.
Now, brethren, if I
come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by
prophesying, or by doctrine?
Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?
If therefore the whole church be
come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there
come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are
mad?
So if the whole church
comes together and
everyone speaks in tongues, and some who are
uninstructed or some unbelievers
come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?
But if all
prophesy, and there
come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is
convinced of all, he is judged of all:
How is it then, brethren? when ye
come together, every one of you hath a
psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto
edifying.
What then shall we say, brothers? When you
come together,
everyone has a
psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.
If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
And if a revelation comes to someone who is seated, the first speaker should stop.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.
But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”
Thou
fool, that which thou sowest is not
quickened, except it die:
You
fool! What you
sow does not
come to life unless it dies.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this
mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory.
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the
mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will
come to pass: “Death has been
swallowed up in victory.”
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath
prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I
come.
On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
Then, on my arrival, I will send letters with those you
recommend to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
Now I will
come unto you, when I shall pass through
Macedonia: for I do pass through
Macedonia.
After I go through
Macedonia, however, I will
come to you; for I will be going through
Macedonia.
Now if
Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.
If
Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.
Let no man therefore
despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may
come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.
No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.
As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.
Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was not at all inclined to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
If
anyone does not love the Lord, let him be under a
curse.
Come, O Lord!
And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;
Confident of this, I
planned to visit you first, so that you might receive a double blessing.
And to pass by you into
Macedonia, and to
come again out of
Macedonia unto you, and of you to be brought on my way toward Judaea.
I wanted to visit you on my way to
Macedonia, and to return to you from
Macedonia, and then to have you help me on my way to
Judea.
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
placed His seal on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a
pledge of what is to
come.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not
come again to you in
heaviness.
So I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our
sufficiency is of God;
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim that anything
comes from us, but our
competence comes from God.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
And we, who with unveiled faces all
reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with
intensifying glory, which
comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Now he that hath wrought us for the
selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
And God has prepared us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a
pledge of what is to
come.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Therefore if
anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has
come!
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
For, when we were
come into
Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
For when we arrived in
Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were pressed from every direction—conflicts on the outside, fears within.
Otherwise, if any Macedonians
come with me and find you unprepared, we—to say nothing of you—would be
ashamed of having been so
confident.
But I
beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence,
wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
I
beg you that when I
come I may not need to be as bold as I expect toward those who
presume that we live according to the flesh.
For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:
We are not
overstepping our bounds, as if we had not
come to you. Indeed, we were the first to reach you with the gospel of Christ.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
For if someone comes and proclaims a Jesus other than the One we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit than the One you received, or a different gospel than the one you accepted, you put up with it way too easily.
Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
Apart from these external trials, I face daily the pressure of my
concern for all the churches.
It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
I must go on
boasting. Although there is nothing to gain, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.
Behold, the third time I am ready to
come to you; and I will not be
burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
See, I am ready to come to you a third time, and I will not be a burden, because I am not seeking your possessions, but you. For children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
For I am afraid that when I
come, I may not find you as I wish, and you may not find me as you wish. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy,
rage,
rivalry,
slander,
gossip,
arrogance, and disorder.
I am afraid that when I
come again, my God will humble me before you, and I will be
grieved over many who have
sinned earlier and have not
repented of their acts of impurity, sexual immorality, and
debauchery.
I told you before, and
foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which
heretofore have
sinned, and to all other, that, if I
come again, I will not
spare:
And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in
privily to
spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into
bondage:
This issue arose because some false brothers had
come in under false pretenses to
spy on our freedom in Christ Jesus, in order to
enslave us.
But when Peter was
come to Antioch, I
withstood him to the face, because he was to be
blamed.
When
Cephas came to Antioch, however, I opposed him to his face, because he stood to be condemned.
For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were
come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the
circumcision.
For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself, for fear of those in the
circumcision group.
I do not
frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness
come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
I do not set aside the grace of God. For if righteousness comes through the law, Christ died for nothing.
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should
come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a
mediator.
Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the seed to whom the promise referred. It was administered through angels by a
mediator.
Is the law then against the promises of God? God
forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life,
verily righteousness should have been by the law.
Is the law, then, opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come from the law.
But after that faith is
come, we are no longer under a
schoolmaster.
Now that faith has
come, we are no longer under a
guardian.
But when the
fulness of the time was
come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
This
persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.
Such
persuasion does not
come from the One who calls you.
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
That in the ages to
come he might
shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
in order that in the coming ages He might display the
surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Till we all
come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the
stature of the
fulness of Christ:
until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we
mature to the full measure of the
stature of Christ.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of
edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Let no
unwholesome talk
come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who
listen.
Let no man
deceive you with vain words: for because of these things
cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Let no one
deceive you with empty words, for because of such things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Therefore take up the full
armor of God, so that when the day of evil
comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I
come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind
striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Nevertheless, conduct
yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I
come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit,
contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,
But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
And I trust in the Lord that I myself will come soon.
Which is
come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it
doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.
Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
These are a shadow of the things to come, but the body that casts it belongs to Christ.
For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and
Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he
come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have already received instructions about him: If he
comes to you,
welcome him.
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
and to
await His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead—Jesus our deliverer from the coming wrath.
Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins
alway: for the wrath is
come upon them to the
uttermost.
hindering us from telling the Gentiles how they may be saved. As a result, they continue to
heap up their sins to full capacity; the utmost wrath has
come upon them.
Wherefore we would have
come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but
Satan hindered us.
For we wanted to
come to you—indeed I, Paul, tried again and again—but
Satan obstructed us.
For
verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer
tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
Indeed, when we were with you, we kept
warning you that we would suffer persecution; and as you know, it has
come to pass.
For
yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so
cometh as a
thief in the night.
For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will
come like a
thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction
cometh upon them, as
travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will
come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a
pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
When he shall
come to be
glorified in his saints, and to be
admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
on the day He
comes to be
glorified in His saints and regarded with wonder by all who have believed, including you who have believed our testimony.
That ye be not soon
shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
not to be easily
disconcerted or
alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us,
alleging that the Day of the Lord has already
come.
Let no man
deceive you by any means: for that day shall not
come, except there
come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition;
Let no one
deceive you in any way, for it will not
come until the rebellion occurs and the man of
lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.
That they all might be
damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith
unfeigned:
The
goal of our instruction is the love that
comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a
sincere faith.
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
who wants
everyone to be saved and to
come to the knowledge of the truth.
These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these things
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but
godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to
come.
For physical exercise is of limited value, but
godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for the present life and for the one to
come.
Till I
come, give attendance to reading, to
exhortation, to doctrine.
He is proud, knowing nothing, but
doting about questions and strifes of words,
whereof cometh envy,
strife, railings, evil surmisings,
Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
treasuring up for themselves a firm foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
And that they may recover themselves out of the
snare of the devil, who are taken
captive by him at his will.
Then they will
come to their senses and escape the
snare of the devil, who has taken them
captive to his will.
This know also, that in the last days
perilous times shall
come.
But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come.
