darkened; and they did eat every
herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the
hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.
They covered the face of all the land until it was black, and they
consumed all the plants on the ground and all the fruit on the trees that the
hail had left behind. Nothing green was left on any tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.

stubble.

consume you and your fifty men.” And fire came down from heaven and
consumed the captain and his fifty men.

plight will be no worse than all the Israelites who are left here. You can see that all the Israelites here are
doomed. So let us send them and find out.”

arrow of the LORD’S
deliverance, and the
arrow of
deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt
smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have
consumed them.
“Open the east window,” said
Elisha. So he opened it and

arrow of victory, the
arrow of victory over
Aram, for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”

wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have
smitten five or six times; then hadst thou

consumed it: whereas now thou shalt
smite Syria but

gore the Arameans until they are finished off.’”
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be
angry with us till thou hadst
consumed us, so that there should be no
remnant nor escaping?

intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not become so
angry with us as to
wipe us out, leaving no
remnant or
survivor?
And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be
sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’
sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are
consumed with fire?

forever! Why should I not be
sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

inspected the walls of Jerusalem that had been broken down and the gates that had been destroyed by fire.

consumed the sheep and the servants, and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

vanish: when it is hot, they are
consumed out of their place.

vanishing from their channels in the heat.

As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so he who goes down to
Sheol does not come back up.

reins be
consumed within me.

remnant of them the fire consumeth.

protrude.
Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

dim because of all my foes.
I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back until they were consumed.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is
consumed with grief,
yea, my soul and my
belly.
Be
merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes fail from sorrow, my soul and body as well.
For my life is spent with grief, and my years with
sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are
consumed.
For my life is
consumed with grief and my years with
groaning; my iniquity has drained my strength, and my bones are wasting away.
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
Remove Your
scourge from me; I am perishing by the force of Your hand.
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
because zeal for Your house has
consumed me, and the insults of those who
insult You have fallen on me.
Let them be confounded and
consumed that are
adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my
hurt.
May the accusers of my soul be
ashamed and
consumed; may those who seek my
harm be covered with
scorn and disgrace.
How are they brought into
desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly
consumed with terrors.
How suddenly they are laid waste, completely swept away by terrors!

consumed His young men, and their maidens were left without
wedding songs.

For we are
consumed by Your anger and
terrified by Your wrath.
For my days are
consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an
hearth.

consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more.

devoured the fruit of their ground.
They
devoured every plant in their land and
consumed the produce of their soil.
And a fire was
kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
Then fire
blazed through their company; flames
consumed the wicked.

consumed me upon earth; but I
forsook not thy precepts.

forsaken Your precepts.

consumed me because my foes
forget Your words.
And thou
mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are
consumed,
At the end of your life you will
groan when your flesh and your body are spent,
And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that
forsake the LORD shall be
consumed.
But rebels and sinners will together be
shattered, and those who
forsake the LORD will perish.
And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my
vineyard: I will take away the
hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be
trodden down:
Now I will tell you what I am about to do to My
vineyard: I will take away its
hedge, and it will be
consumed; I will
tear down its wall, and it will be
trampled.
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a
covert to them from the face of the
spoiler: for the
extortioner is at an end, the
spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are
consumed out of the land.
Let my fugitives stay with you; be a refuge for Moab from the destroyer.” When the
oppressor has gone, destruction has ceased, and the oppressors have
vanished from the land,
Therefore hath the
curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are
desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
Therefore a
curse has
consumed the earth, and its inhabitants must bear the guilt; the earth’s dwellers have been burned, and only a few
survive.
For the terrible one is brought to
nought, and the
scorner is
consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:
For the
ruthless will
vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who look for evil will be cut down—
Therefore he hath poured upon him the
fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
So He poured out on them His
furious anger and the fierceness of battle. It
enveloped them in flames, but they did not understand; it
consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.
And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast
hid thy face from us, and hast
consumed us, because of our
iniquities.
No one calls on Your name or strives to take hold of You. For You have hidden Your face from us and delivered us into the hand of our iniquity.
They that
sanctify themselves, and
purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating
swine’s flesh, and the
abomination, and the
mouse, shall be
consumed together, saith the LORD.

consecrate and
purify themselves to enter the groves—to follow one in the center of those who eat the flesh of
swine and
vermin and rats—will perish together,” declares the LORD.
For shame hath
devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
From our youth, that shameful god has consumed what our fathers have worked for— their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters.
O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast
stricken them, but they have not
grieved; thou hast
consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
O LORD, do not Your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You finished them off, but they refused to accept discipline. They have made their faces harder than stone and refused to
repent.
The
bellows are burned, the lead is
consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not
plucked away.
The
bellows blow fiercely, blasting away the lead with fire. The refining proceeds in vain, for the wicked are not
purged.
I will
scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have
consumed them.
I will
scatter them among the nations that neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send a sword after them until I have finished them off.”
Pour out thy
fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and
devoured him, and
consumed him, and have made his
habitation desolate.
Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge You, and on the families that do not call on Your name. For they have
devoured Jacob; they have
consumed him and finished him off; they have
devastated his homeland.
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great
tumult he hath
kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty
roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be
consumed.
How long shall the land
mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are
consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
How long will the land
mourn and the grass of every field be
withered? Because of the evil of its residents, the animals and birds have been swept away, for the people have said, “He cannot see what our end will be.”
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that
prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be
consumed.
Therefore this is what the LORD says about the prophets who
prophesy in My name: I did not send them, yet they say, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ By sword and famine these very prophets will meet their end!
They shall die of
grievous deaths; they shall not be
lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be
consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
“They will die from deadly diseases. They will not be
mourned or buried, but will lie like dung on the ground. They will be finished off by sword and famine, and their corpses will become food for the birds of the air and beasts of the earth.”
Wherefore came I forth out of the
womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be
consumed with shame?
Why did I come out of the
womb to see only trouble and sorrow, and to end my days in shame?
And I will send the sword, the famine, and the
pestilence, among them, till they be
consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
And I will send against them sword and famine and plague, until they have perished from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.’”
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I
punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the
pestilence, until I have
consumed them by his hand.
As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and does not place its neck under his yoke, I will
punish that nation by sword and famine and plague, declares the LORD, until I have destroyed it by his hand.
And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the
penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the
hearth, until all the roll was
consumed in the fire that was on the
hearth.
And as soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns,
Jehoiakim would cut them off with a
scribe’s knife and throw them into the
firepot, until the entire
scroll had been
consumed by the fire.
And I will take the
remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to
sojourn there, and they shall all be
consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be
consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an
execration, and an
astonishment, and a
curse, and a reproach.
And I will take away the
remnant of Judah who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to reside there; they will meet their end. They will all fall by the sword or be
consumed by famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by sword or famine; and they will become an object of
cursing and
horror, of
vilification and reproach.
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
I am watching over them for
harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine, until they are finished off.
For I will cause
Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have
consumed them:
So I will
shatter Elam before their foes, before those who seek their lives. I will bring
disaster upon them, even My fierce anger,” declares the LORD. “I will send out the sword after them until I finish them off.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the
folk in the fire, and they shall be
weary.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high gates
consumed by fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will
exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”
Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD’S anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have
swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy
consumed.
You summoned my attackers on every side, as for the day of an appointed feast. In the day of the LORD’s anger no one escaped or survived; my enemy has destroyed those I
nurtured and reared.
It is of the LORD’S
mercies that we are not
consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not
consumed, for His
mercies never fail.
