ceremonially clean place, because these portions have been assigned to you and your children from the peace offerings of the sons of Israel.
But if she bear a
maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her
purifying threescore and six days.

menstruation. Then she must continue in
purification from her
bleeding for sixty-six days.
And when the days of her
purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a
daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young
pigeon, or a
turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest:

The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
You must not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.
The nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
You must not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, for that would shame your family.
The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s
daughter,
begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
You must not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.
Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
You must not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; you are not to have sexual relations with her.
Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her
daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s
daughter, or her
daughter’s
daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near
kinswomen: it is wickedness.
You must not have sexual relations with both a woman and her
daughter. You are not to marry her son’s
daughter or her
daughter’s
daughter and have sexual relations with her. They are close relatives; it is
depraved.
Do not
prostitute thy
daughter, to cause her to be a
whore; lest the land fall to
whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with his
daughter-in-law, both must surely be put to death. They have acted
perversely; their blood is upon them.
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
But for his
kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his
daughter, and for his brother,
except for his immediate family—his mother, father, son, daughter, or brother,
And the
daughter of any priest, if she
profane herself by playing the
whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
If a priest’s
daughter defiles herself by
prostituting herself, she profanes her father; she must be burned in the fire.
If the priest’s daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
If the priest’s daughter is married to a man other than a priest, she is not to eat of the sacred contributions.
But if the priest’s
daughter be a widow, or
divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s meat: but there shall no stranger eat thereof.
But if a priest’s
daughter with no children becomes widowed or
divorced and returns to her father’s house, she may share her father’s food as in her youth. But no outsider may share it.
And the
Israelitish woman’s son
blasphemed the name of the LORD, and
cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the
daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of
Dan:)
The son of the
Israelite woman
blasphemed the Name with a
curse. So they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith
daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of
Dan.)
And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
You will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters.
And this is thine; the
heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given them unto thee, and to thy sons and to thy
daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it.
And this is yours as well: the offering of their gifts, along with all the wave offerings of the Israelites. I have given this to you and your sons and
daughters as a permanent statute. Every
ceremonially clean person in your household may eat it.
All the
heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy
daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.
All the holy offerings that the Israelites present to the LORD I give to you and to your sons and daughters as a permanent statute. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the LORD for you and your offspring.”
Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of
Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his
daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the
Amorites.

Chemosh! He gave up his sons as refugees, and his
daughters into captivity to Sihon king of the
Amorites.
And Israel abode in

tribal chief of a Midianite family.
For they
vex you with their wiles,
wherewith they have
beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the
daughter of a prince of
Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.
For they
assailed you
deceitfully when they
seduced you in the matter of Peor and their sister Cozbi, the
daughter of the Midianite leader, the woman who was killed on the day the plague came because of Peor.”
And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but
daughters: and the names of the
daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and

daughters. The names of his
daughters were Mahlah,
Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

daughter of Asher was

And the name of Asher’s daughter was Serah.
And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the
daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and
Miriam their sister.

daughter of Levi, born to Levi in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron, Moses, and their sister
Miriam.
Then came the
daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh, of the families of
Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his
daughters; Mahlah,
Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
Now the
daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh, belonged to the clans of
Manasseh son of Joseph. These were the names of his
daughters: Mahlah,
Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They approached
The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his
daughter.
And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.
If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.
These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father’s house.
These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter still in his home.
And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.
saying, “When the LORD commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance to the Israelites by lot, He also commanded him to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.
This is the thing which the LORD
doth command concerning the
daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.
This is what the LORD has commanded concerning the
daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry
anyone they please, provided they marry within a clan of the tribe of their father.
And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.
Every
daughter who possesses an inheritance from any
Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every
Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers.
Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:
So the daughters of Zelophehad did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and
Noah, the
daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father’s brothers’ sons:
Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and
Noah, the
daughters of Zelophehad, were married to cousins on their father’s side.
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy
daughter, nor thy
manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine
ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy
manservant and thy
maidservant may rest as well as thou.
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or
daughter, nor your
manservant or
maidservant, nor your ox or
donkey or any of your
livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates, so that your
manservant and
maidservant may rest as you do.
Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
Do not
intermarry with them. Do not give your
daughters to their sons or take their
daughters for your sons,
And ye shall
rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your
daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the
Levite that is within your gates;
forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
And you shall
rejoice before the LORD your God—you, your sons and
daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy
daughter, and thy
manservant, and thy
maidservant, and the
Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt
rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.
Instead, you must eat them in the presence of the LORD your God at the place the LORD your God will choose—you, your sons and
daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite within your gates.
Rejoice before the LORD your God in all you do,
Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every
abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their
daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
You must not worship the LORD your God in this way, because they practice for their gods every
abomination which the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and
daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy
daughter, or the wife of thy
bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul,
entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (which neither you nor your fathers have known,
And thou shalt
rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy
daughter, and thy
manservant, and thy
maidservant, and the
Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.
and you shall
rejoice before the LORD your God in the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name—you, your sons and
daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite within your gates, as well as the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widows among you.
And thou shalt
rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy
daughter, and thy
manservant, and thy
maidservant, and the
Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates.
And you shall
rejoice in your feast—you, your sons and
daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the
Levite, as well as the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widows among you.
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his
daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an
enchanter, or a
witch,
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or
daughter in the fire, practices
divination or
conjury, interprets omens, practices
sorcery,
And the
damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my
daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
and say to the elders, “I gave my
daughter in marriage to this man, but he has come to
hate her.
And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy
daughter a
maid; and yet these are the
tokens of my
daughter’s
virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
And now he has accused her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘I discovered that your
daughter was not a virgin.’ But here is the proof of her
virginity.” And they shall spread out the cloth before the city elders.
There shall be no
whore of the
daughters of Israel, nor a
sodomite of the sons of Israel.
Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the
daughter of his father, or the
daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who sleeps with his sister, the
daughter of his father or the
daughter of his mother.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
Your sons and
daughters will be given to another nation, while your eyes grow
weary looking for them day after day, with no power in your hand.
Thou shalt
beget sons and
daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
You will father sons and daughters, but they will not remain yours, because they will go into captivity.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy
daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
Then you will eat the fruit of your
womb, the flesh of the sons and
daughters whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you.
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not
adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her
bosom, and toward her son, and toward her
daughter,
The most gentle and refined woman among you, so gentle and refined she would not
venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground, will
begrudge the husband she embraces and her son and
daughter And when the LORD saw it, he
abhorred them, because of the
provoking of his sons, and of his
daughters.
When the LORD saw this, He rejected them,
provoked to anger by His sons and
daughters.
And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took
Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the
wedge of gold, and his sons, and his
daughters, and his oxen, and his
asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of
Achor.
Then Joshua, together with all Israel, took
Achan son of Zerah, the silver, the
cloak, the bar of gold, his sons and
daughters, his oxen and
donkeys and sheep, his tent, and everything else he owned, and brought them to the Valley of
Achor.
And
Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my
daughter to wife.
And
Caleb said, “To the man who strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give my
daughter Acsah in marriage.”
And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of
Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his
daughter to wife.
So Othniel son of
Caleb’s brother Kenaz captured the city, and
Caleb gave his
daughter Acsah to him in marriage.
But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh, had no sons, but
daughters: and these are the names of his
daughters, Mahlah, and
Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
But Zelophehad son of Hepher (the son of
Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of
Manasseh) had no sons but only
daughters. These are the names of his
daughters: Mahlah,
Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
Because the
daughters of
Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of
Manasseh’s sons had the land of
Gilead.
because the
daughters of
Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons. And the land of
Gilead belonged to the rest of the sons of
Manasseh.
And
Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my
daughter to wife.
And
Caleb said, “To the man who strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give my
daughter Acsah in marriage.”
And Othniel the son of Kenaz,
Caleb’s younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his
daughter to wife.
So Othniel son of
Caleb’s younger brother Kenaz captured the city, and
Caleb gave his
daughter Acsah to him in marriage.
And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
And they took the daughters of these people in marriage, gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
And
Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his
daughter came out to meet him with
timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor
daughter.
And when
Jephthah returned home to
Mizpah, there was his
daughter coming out to meet him with tambourines and dancing! She was his only child; he had no son or
daughter besides her.
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said,
Alas, my
daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
As soon as
Jephthah saw her, he
tore his clothes and said, “No! Not my
daughter! You have brought me to my knees! You have brought great misery upon me, for I have given my word to the LORD and cannot take it back.”
That the
daughters of Israel went yearly to
lament the
daughter of

And
Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the
daughters of the Philistines.
And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.
So he returned and told his father and mother, “I have seen a daughter of the Philistines in Timnah. Now get her for me as a wife.”
Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the
daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the
uncircumcised Philistines? And
Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.
But his father and mother replied, “Can’t you find a young woman among your relatives or among any of our people? Must you go to the
uncircumcised Philistines to get a wife?” But
Samson told his father, “Get her for me, for she is pleasing to my eyes.”
Behold, here is my
daughter a
maiden, and his
concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so
vile a thing.
Look, let me bring out my virgin
daughter and the man’s
concubine, and you can use them and do with them as you wish. But do not do such a
vile thing to this man.”
Now the men of Israel had
sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his
daughter unto Benjamin to wife.
Now the men of Israel had
sworn an oath at
Mizpah, saying, “Not one of us will give his
daughter in marriage to a
Benjamite.”
How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing we have
sworn by the LORD that we will not give them of our
daughters to wives?
What should we do about wives for the survivors, since we have
sworn by the LORD not to give them our
daughters in marriage?”
Howbeit we may not give them wives of our
daughters: for the children of Israel have
sworn, saying,
Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.
But we cannot give them our
daughters as wives.” For the Israelites had
sworn, “
Cursed is he who gives a wife to a
Benjamite.”
And see, and, behold, if the
daughters of
