And there was a
famine in the land: and
Abram went down into Egypt to
sojourn there; for the
famine was
grievous in the land.
Now there was a
famine in the land. So
Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the
famine was severe.
And there was a
famine in the land, beside the first
famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto
Abimelech king of the Philistines unto
Gerar.
Now there was another
famine in the land, subsequent to the one that had occurred in Abraham’s time. And Isaac went to
Abimelech king of the Philistines at
Gerar.
And the seven thin and ill favoured
kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of
famine.
Moreover, the seven thin,
ugly cows that came up after them are seven years, and so are the seven worthless heads of grain
scorched by the east wind—they are seven years of
famine.
And there shall arise after them seven years of
famine; and all the
plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the
famine shall
consume the land;
but seven years of
famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in the land of Egypt will be forgotten, and the
famine will
devastate the land.
And the
plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that
famine following; for it shall be very
grievous.
The abundance in the land will not be remembered, since the famine that follows it will be so severe.
And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
This food will be a reserve for the land during the seven years of famine to come upon the land of Egypt. Then the country will not perish in the famine.”
And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of
famine came, which Asenath the daughter of
Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.
Before the years of famine arrived, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.
And the seven years of
dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the
dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. And although there was famine in every country, there was food throughout the land of Egypt.
And the
famine was over all the face of the earth: and Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the
famine waxed
sore in the land of Egypt.
When the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened up all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians; for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt.
And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to
buy corn; because that the
famine was so
sore in all lands.
And every nation came to Joseph in Egypt to
buy grain, because the
famine was severe over all the earth.
And the sons of Israel came to
buy corn among those that came: for the
famine was in the land of
Canaan.
So the sons of Israel were among those who came to
buy grain, since the
famine had also spread to the land of
Canaan.
If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:
If you are
honest, leave one of your brothers in
custody while the rest of you go and take back grain to
relieve the hunger of your households.
And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us,
Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the
famine of your households, and be gone:
Then the man who is lord of the land said to us, ‘This is how I will know whether you are
honest: Leave one brother with me, take food to
relieve the hunger of your households, and go.
And the
famine was
sore in the land.
Now the famine was still severe in the land.
For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.
For the
famine has covered the land these two years, and there will be five more years without
plowing or harvesting.
And there will I
nourish thee; for yet there are five years of
famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.
And there I will provide for you, because there will be five more years of
famine. Otherwise, you and your household and everything you own will come to
destitution.’
They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to
sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the
famine is
sore in the land of
Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of
Goshen.
Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live in the land for a time, because there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, since the
famine in the land of
Canaan has been severe. So now, please allow your servants to settle in the land of
Goshen.”
And there was no bread in all the land; for the
famine was very
sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of
Canaan fainted by reason of the
famine.
There was no food, however, in all that region, because the
famine was so severe; the lands of Egypt and
Canaan had been exhausted by the
famine.
And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh’s.
So Joseph acquired for Pharaoh all the land in Egypt; the Egyptians, one and all, sold their fields because the famine was so severe upon them. The land became Pharaoh’s,
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in
thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
you will serve your enemies the LORD will send against you in
famine,
thirst, nakedness, and
destitution. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a
famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to
sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
In the days when the judges ruled, there was a
famine in the land. And a certain man from
Bethlehem in Judah, with his wife and two sons, went to reside in the land of Moab.
Then there was a
famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his
bloody house, because he
slew the Gibeonites.
During the reign of David there was a famine for three successive years, and David sought the face of the LORD. And the LORD said, “It is because of the blood shed by Saul and his family, because he killed the Gibeonites.”
So
Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of
famine come unto thee in thy land? or
wilt thou
flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’
pestilence in thy land? now
advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
So
Gad went and said to David, “Do you choose to
endure three years of
famine in your land, three months of
fleeing the pursuit of your enemies, or three days of plague upon your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
When
famine or plague comes upon the land, or
blight or
mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemy besieges them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,
So
Elijah went to present himself to
Ahab. The
famine was severe in Samaria,
And
Elisha came again to
Gilgal: and there was a
dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and
seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.
When
Elisha returned to
Gilgal, there was a
famine in the land. As the sons of the prophets were sitting at his feet, he said to his
attendant, “Put on the large pot and
boil some
stew for the sons of the prophets.”
And there was a great
famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an
ass’s head was sold for
fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a
cab of
dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.
So there was a great
famine in Samaria. Indeed, they besieged the city so long that a
donkey’s head sold for eighty shekels of silver, and a quarter
cab of
dove’s dung sold for five shekels of silver.
If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
If we say, ‘Let us go into the city,’ we will die there from the famine in the city; but if we sit here, we will also die. So come now, let us go over to the camp of the Arameans. If they let us live, we will live; if they kill us, we will die.”
Then spake
Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and
sojourn wheresoever thou canst
sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a
famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.
Now
Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Arise, you and your household; go and live as a foreigner wherever you can. For the LORD has decreed a seven-year
famine, and it has already come to the land.”
And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
By the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine in the city was so severe that the people of the land had no food.
Either three years’
famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the
pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore
advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
between three years of
famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies and overtaken by their swords, or three days of the sword of the LORD—days of plague upon the land, with the angel of the LORD
ravaging every part of Israel.’ Now then, decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
When
famine or plague comes upon the land, or
blight or
mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when their enemies
besiege them in their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,
If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or
pestilence, or
famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our
affliction, then thou
wilt hear and help.
‘If
disaster comes upon us—whether sword or judgment, plague or
famine—we will stand before this temple and before You, for Your Name is in this temple. We will cry out to You in our distress, and You will hear us and save us.’
Is not
Hezekiah misleading you to give you over to death by
famine and
thirst when he says, ‘The LORD our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria?’
Some also there were that said, We have
mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might
buy corn, because of the
dearth.
Others were saying, “We are
mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our homes to get grain during the
famine.”
In
famine he shall
redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
In
famine He will
redeem you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.
At destruction and
famine thou shalt
laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
You will
laugh at destruction and
famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.
For want and
famine they were solitary;
fleeing into the wilderness in former time
desolate and waste.
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
They shall not be
ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of
famine they shall be satisfied.
In the time of evil they will not be
ashamed, and in the days of
famine they will be satisfied.
Moreover he called for a
famine upon the land: he
brake the whole staff of bread.
He called down famine on the land and cut off all their supplies of food.
And the
firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the
needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with
famine, and he shall
slay thy
remnant.
Then the
firstborn of the poor will find pasture, and the
needy will lie down in safety, but I will kill your root by
famine, and your
remnant will be slain.
These two things are come unto thee; who shall be
sorry for thee?
desolation, and destruction, and the
famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?
They have
belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor
famine:
They have
lied about the LORD and said: “He will not do anything;
harm will not come to us; we will not see sword or
famine.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will
punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by
famine:
So this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will
punish them. Their young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters by
famine.
When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an
oblation, I will not accept them: but I will
consume them by the sword, and by the
famine, and by the
pestilence.
Although they may fast, I will not
listen to their cry; although they may offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will finish them off by sword and
famine and plague.”
Then said I,
Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have
famine; but I will give you
assured peace in this place.
“
Ah, Lord GOD!” I replied, “Look, the prophets are telling them, ‘You will not see the sword or suffer
famine, but I will give you lasting peace in this place.’”
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that
prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and
famine shall not be in this land; By sword and
famine shall those prophets be consumed.
Therefore this is what the LORD says about the prophets who
prophesy in My name: I did not send them, yet they say, ‘No sword or
famine will touch this land.’ By sword and
famine these very prophets will meet their end!
And the people to whom they
prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the
famine and the sword; and they shall have none to
bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
And the people to whom they
prophesy will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of
famine and sword. There will be no one to
bury them or their wives, their sons or their daughters. I will pour out their own evil upon them.
If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with
famine!
yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
If I go out to the country, I see those slain by the sword; if I enter the city, I see those
ravaged by
famine! For both prophet and priest travel to a land they do not know.’”
And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee,
Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the
famine, to the
famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
If they ask you, ‘Where shall we go?’ you are to tell them that this is what the LORD says: ‘Those destined for death, to death; those destined for the sword, to the sword; those destined for famine, to famine; and those destined for captivity, to captivity.’
They shall die of
grievous deaths; they shall not be
lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by
famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
“They will die from deadly diseases. They will not be
mourned or buried, but will lie like dung on the ground. They will be finished off by sword and
famine, and their corpses will become food for the birds of the air and beasts of the earth.”
Therefore deliver up their children to the
famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be
bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
Therefore, hand their children over to famine; pour out the power of the sword upon them. Let their wives become childless and widowed; let their husbands be slain by disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
And afterward, saith the LORD, I will deliver
Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, and such as are left in this city from the
pestilence, from the sword, and from the
famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seek their life: and he shall
smite them with the edge of the sword; he shall not
spare them, neither have
pity, nor have mercy.
‘After that,’ declares the LORD, ‘I will hand over
Zedekiah king of Judah, his officers, and the people in this city who
survive the plague and sword and
famine, to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and to their enemies who seek their lives. He will put them to the sword; he will not
spare them or show
pity or
compassion.’
He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the
famine, and by the
pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that
besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey.
Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and
famine and plague, but
whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who
besiege you will live; he will retain his life like a
spoil of war.
And I will send the sword, the
famine, and the
pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
And I will send against them sword and famine and plague, until they have perished from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.’”
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I
punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the
famine, and with the
pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and does not place its neck under his yoke, I will
punish that nation by sword and
famine and plague, declares the LORD, until I have destroyed it by his hand.
Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the
famine, and by the
pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
Why should you and your people die by sword and famine and plague, as the LORD has decreed against any nation that does not serve the king of Babylon?
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the
famine, and the
pestilence, and will make them like
vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.
this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “I will send against them sword and
famine and plague, and I will make them like
rotten figs, so bad they cannot be eaten.
And I will
persecute them with the sword, with the
famine, and with the
pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a
curse, and an
astonishment, and an
hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations
whither I have driven them:
I will pursue them with sword and
famine and plague. I will make them a
horror to all the kingdoms of the earth—a
curse, a
desolation, and an object of
scorn and reproach among all the nations to which I
banish them.
Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the
famine, and of the
pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.
See how the siege ramps are mounted against the city to capture it. And by sword and famine and plague, the city has been given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What You have spoken has happened, as You now see!
And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city,
whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the
famine, and by the
pestilence;
Now therefore, about this city of which you say, ‘It will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword and famine and plague,’ this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not
hearkened unto me, in
proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I
proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the
pestilence, and to the
famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: You have not obeyed Me; you have not proclaimed freedom, each man for his brother and for his
neighbor. So now I
proclaim freedom for you, declares the LORD—freedom to fall by sword, by plague, and by
famine! I will make you a
horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
Thus saith the LORD, He that remaineth in this city shall die by the sword, by the
famine, and by the
pestilence: but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live.
“This is what the LORD says:
Whoever stays in this city will die by sword and
famine and plague, but
whoever surrenders to the Chaldeans will live; he will retain his life like a
spoil of war, and he will live.
Then it shall come to pass, that the sword, which ye feared, shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the
famine,
whereof ye were afraid, shall follow close after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.
then the sword you fear will overtake you there, and the
famine you
dread will follow on your heels into Egypt, and you will die there.
So shall it be with all the men that set their faces to go into Egypt to
sojourn there; they shall die by the sword, by the
famine, and by the
pestilence: and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.
So all who
resolve to go to Egypt to reside there will die by sword and
famine and plague. Not one of them will
survive or escape the
disaster I will bring upon them.’
Now therefore know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the
famine, and by the
pestilence, in the place
whither ye desire to go and to
sojourn.
Now therefore, know for sure that by sword and famine and plague you will die in the place where you desire to go to reside.”
And I will take the
remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to
sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the
famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the
famine: and they shall be an
execration, and an
astonishment, and a
curse, and a reproach.
And I will take away the
remnant of Judah who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to reside there; they will meet their end. They will all fall by the sword or be consumed by
famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by sword or
famine; and they will become an object of
cursing and
horror, of
vilification and reproach.
For I will
punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the
famine, and by the
pestilence:
I will
punish those who live in the land of Egypt, just as I punished Jerusalem, by sword and
famine and plague,
But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.
But from the time we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine.”
Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.
I am watching over them for
harm and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or
famine, until they are finished off.
And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the
famine was
sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
By the ninth day of the fourth month, the famine in the city was so severe that the people of the land had no food.
Our skin was black like an
oven because of the terrible
famine.
Our skin is as hot as an
oven with fever from our hunger.
A third part of thee shall die with the
pestilence, and with
famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee and I will
scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
A third of your people will die by plague or be consumed by
famine within you, a third will fall by the sword outside your walls, and a third I will
scatter to every wind and
unleash a sword behind them.
When I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
When I shower you with the deadly arrows of
famine and destruction that I will send to destroy you, I will
intensify the
famine against you and cut off your supply of food.
So will I send upon you
famine and evil beasts, and they shall
bereave thee; and
pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the LORD have spoken it.
I will send
famine and wild beasts against you, and they will leave you childless. Plague and
bloodshed will
sweep through you, and I will bring a sword against you. I, the LORD, have spoken.”
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Smite with thine hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say,
Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they shall fall by the sword, by the
famine, and by the
pestilence.
This is what the Lord GOD says:
Clap your hands,
stomp your feet, and cry out “
Alas!” because of all the wicked abominations of the house of Israel, who will fall by sword and
famine and plague.
He that is far off shall die of the
pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the
famine: thus will I
accomplish my
fury upon them.
He who is far off will die by the plague, he who is near will fall by the sword, and he who remains will die by
famine. So I will
vent My
fury upon them.
The sword is without, and the
pestilence and the
famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city,
famine and
pestilence shall
devour him.
The sword is outside; plague and
famine are within. Those in the country will die by the sword, and those in the city will be
devoured by
famine and plague.
But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the
famine, and from the
pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen
whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
But I will
spare a few of them from sword and
famine and plague, so that in the nations to which they go, they can recount all their abominations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by
trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send
famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
“Son of man, if a land sins against Me by acting unfaithfully, and I stretch out My hand against it to cut off its supply of food, to send famine upon it, and to cut off from it both man and beast,
For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four
sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the
famine, and the
noisome beast, and the
pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem My four
dire judgments—sword,
famine, wild beasts, and plague—in order to cut off from it both man and beast?
And I will raise up for them a plant of
renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
And I will raise up for them a garden of
renown, and they will no longer be victims of
famine in the land or bear the
scorn of the nations.
I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.
I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will
summon the grain and make it
plentiful, and I will not bring
famine upon you.
And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.
I will also make the fruit of the trees and the crops of the field
plentiful, so that you will no longer bear reproach among the nations on account of
famine.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a
famine in the land, not a
famine of bread, nor a
thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord GOD, when I will send a
famine on the land— not a
famine of bread or a
thirst for water, but a
famine of hearing the words of the LORD.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be
famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in
divers places.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in
divers places, and there shall be
famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, as well as famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
But I tell you truthfully that there were many widows in Israel in the time of
Elijah, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and great
famine swept over all the land.
And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
After he had spent all he had, a severe famine swept through that country, and he began to be in need.
And great earthquakes shall be in
divers places, and
famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, along with fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
Then
famine and great suffering swept across Egypt and
Canaan, and our fathers could not find food.
And there stood up one of them named
Agabus, and
signified by the spirit that there should be great

Then I looked and saw a pale green horse. Its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed close behind. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill by sword, by famine, by plague, and by the beasts of the earth.
Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and
mourning, and
famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Therefore her plagues will come in one day— death and grief and famine— and she will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.”
Behold, saith the Lord, I will bring plagues upon the world; the sword, famine, death, and destruction.
I will send plagues upon thee;
widowhood, poverty,
famine, sword, and
pestilence, to waste thy houses with destruction and death.
The beginning of sorrows and great mournings; the beginning of famine and great death; the beginning of wars, and the powers shall stand in fear; the beginning of evils! what shall I do when these evils shall come?
