Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
Please let your servant return, that I may die in my own city near the tomb of my father and mother. But here is your servant Chimham. Let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him what is good in your sight.”
And the bones of Saul and
Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the
sepulchre of
Kish his
father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.
And they buried the bones of Saul and his son
Jonathan in Zela in the land of Benjamin, in the tomb of Saul’s
father Kish. After they had done everything the king had commanded, God answered their prayers for the land.
And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that
smote the people, and said, Lo, I have
sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my
father’s house.
When David saw the angel striking down the people, he said to the LORD, “Surely I, the
shepherd, have
sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Please, let Your hand fall upon me and my
father’s house.”
And his
father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after
Absalom.
(His
father had never once
reprimanded him by saying, “Why do you act this way?” Adonijah was also very handsome, born next after
Absalom.)
Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.
Otherwise, when my lord the king rests with his fathers, I and my son Solomon will be counted as criminals.”
So David
slept with his
fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.
Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.
So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.
Now therefore, as the LORD liveth, which hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.
And now, as surely as the LORD lives—the One who established me, who set me on the throne of my
father David, and who founded for me a dynasty as He promised—surely Adonijah shall be put to death
today!”
And unto
Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord GOD before David my
father, and because thou hast been
afflicted in all wherein my
father was
afflicted.
Then the king said to
Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my
father David, and you suffered through all that my
father suffered.”
And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and
bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which
Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my
father.
And the king replied, “Do just as he says. Strike him down and
bury him, and so remove from me and from the house of my
father the innocent blood that
Joab shed.
And the LORD shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and
slew them with the sword, my
father David not knowing thereof, to wit,
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and
Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
The LORD will bring his
bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the knowledge of my
father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword
Abner son of
Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and
Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou
didst to David my
father: therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head;
The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
And Solomon loved the LORD and walked in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
Solomon replied, “You have shown much loving devotion to Your servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. And You have maintained this loving devotion by giving him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
And now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king in my father David’s place. But I am only a little child, not knowing how to go out or come in.
And if thou
wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy
father David did walk, then I will
lengthen thy days.
So if you walk in My ways and keep My statutes and commandments, just as your
father David did, I will
prolong your days.”
And
Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had
anointed him king in the room of his
father: for
Hiram was ever a lover of David.
Now when
Hiram king of Tyre heard that Solomon had been
anointed king in his
father’s place, he sent envoys to Solomon; for
Hiram had always been a friend of David.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
“As you are well aware, due to the wars
waged on all sides against my
father David, he could not build a house for the Name of the LORD his God until the LORD had put his enemies under his feet.
And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
So behold, I plan to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God, according to what the LORD said to my father David: ‘I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the house for My Name.’
Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou
wilt walk in my statutes, and
execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy
father:
“As for this temple you are building, if you walk in My statutes, carry out My ordinances, and keep all My commandments by walking in them, I will
fulfill through you the promise I made to your
father David.
He was a widow’s son of the tribe of
Naphtali, and his
father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and
cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.
He was the son of a widow from the tribe of
Naphtali, and his
father was a man of Tyre, a
craftsman in bronze. Huram had great skill, understanding, and knowledge for every kind of bronze work. So he came to King Solomon and carried out all his work.
So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the LORD. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of the LORD.
So all the work that King Solomon had performed for the house of the LORD was completed. Then Solomon brought in the items his
father David had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and the furnishings—and he placed them in the
treasuries of the house of the LORD.
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the
fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that time Solomon assembled before him in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from
Zion, the City of David.
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,
and said: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His own hand what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying,
And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And the LORD said unto David my
father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou
didst well that it was in thine heart.
But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart.
And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
And there I have provided a place for the ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”
Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.
You have kept Your promise to Your servant, my father David. What You spoke with Your mouth You have fulfilled with Your hand this day.
Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my
father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take
heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk before Me as you have done.’
And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be
verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my
father.
And now, O God of Israel, please
confirm what You promised to Your servant, my
father David.
Then hear thou in heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their
fathers.
then may You hear from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your people Israel. May You restore them to the land You gave to their
fathers.
That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
so that they may fear You all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.
And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away
captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their
fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
and when they return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their
fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,
For thou
didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our
fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.
For You, O Lord GOD, as Your inheritance, have set them apart from all the peoples of the earth, as You spoke through Your servant Moses when You brought our fathers out of Egypt.”
The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our
fathers: let him not leave us, nor
forsake us:
May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our
fathers. May He never leave us nor
forsake us.
That he may
incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our
fathers.
May He
incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His ways and to keep the commandments and statutes and ordinances He commanded our
fathers.
And if thou
wilt walk before me, as David thy
father walked, in
integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and
wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:
And as for you, if you walk before Me as your
father David walked, with a heart of
integrity and uprightness, doing all I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and ordinances,
Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.
then I will establish your royal throne over Israel
forever, as I promised your
father David when I said, ‘You will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
And they shall answer, Because they
forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their
fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.
And others will answer, ‘Because they have
forsaken the LORD their God who brought their
fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them—because of this, the LORD has brought all this
disaster upon them.’”
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
For when Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his father David had been.
And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.
So Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD; unlike his father David, he did not follow the LORD completely.
Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy
father’s sake: but I will
rend it out of the hand of thy son.
Nevertheless, for the sake of your
father David, I will not do it during your lifetime; I will
tear it out of the hand of your son.
That
Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his
father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt;
Hadad being yet a little child.
But
Hadad, still just a young boy, had fled to Egypt, along with some Edomites who were servants of his
father.
And when
Hadad heard in Egypt that David
slept with his
fathers, and that
Joab the captain of the host was dead,
Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
When
Hadad heard in Egypt that David had rested with his
fathers and that
Joab, the commander of the army, was dead, he said to Pharaoh, “Let me go, that I may return to my own country.”
And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built
Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his
father.
and this is the account of his rebellion against the king. Solomon had built the supporting terraces and repaired the
gap in the wall of the city of his
father David.
Because that they have
forsaken me, and have worshipped
Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians,
Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of
Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his
father.
For they have
forsaken Me to worship
Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians,
Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the
Ammonites. They have not walked in My ways, nor done what is right in My eyes, nor kept My statutes and judgments, as Solomon’s
father David did.
And Solomon
slept with his
fathers, and was buried in the city of David his
father: and
Rehoboam his son reigned in his
stead.
And Solomon rested with his
fathers and was buried in the city of his
father David. And his son
Rehoboam reigned in his place.
Thy
father made our yoke
grievous: now therefore make thou the
grievous service of thy
father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
“Your
father put a heavy yoke on us. But now you should
lighten the burden of your
father’s service and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
And king
Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his
father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye
advise that I may answer this people?
Then King
Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his
father Solomon during his lifetime. “How do you
advise me to
respond to these people?” he asked.
And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
He asked them, “What message do you
advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘
Lighten the yoke your
father put on us’?”
And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your
father made our yoke heavy, but you should make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my
father’s
waist!
And now whereas my
father did
lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my
father hath
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
Whereas my
father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my
father scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.’”
And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My
father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my
father also
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
and spoke to them as the young men had
advised, saying, “Whereas my
father made your yoke heavy, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my
father scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.”
Now there dwelt an old prophet in
Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in
Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their
father.
Now a certain old prophet was living in
Bethel, and his sons came and told him all the deeds that the man of God had done that day in
Bethel. They also told their
father the words that the man had spoken to the king.
And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
“Which way did he go?” their father asked. And his sons showed him the way taken by the man of God, who had come from Judah.
But camest back, and hast eaten bread and
drunk water in the place, of the which the LORD did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy
carcase shall not come unto the
sepulchre of thy
fathers.
but you went back and
ate bread and
drank water in the place where He told you not to do so, your body shall never reach the tomb of your
fathers.’”
For the LORD shall
smite Israel, as a reed is
shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their
fathers, and shall
scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves,
provoking the LORD to anger.
For the LORD will strike Israel as a reed is
shaken in the water. He will
uproot Israel from this good land that He gave their
fathers, and He will
scatter them beyond the Euphrates, because they have made their Asherah poles,
provoking the LORD to anger.
And the days which
Jeroboam reigned were two and twenty years: and he
slept with his
fathers, and
Nadab his son reigned in his
stead.
And the length of
Jeroboam’s reign was twenty-two years, and he rested with his
fathers, and his son
Nadab reigned in his place.
And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they
provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their
fathers had done.
And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and by the sins they committed they
provoked Him to
jealous anger more than all their
fathers had done.
And
Rehoboam slept with his
fathers, and was buried with his
fathers in the city of David. And his mother’s name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Rehoboam rested with his
fathers and was buried with them in the City of David; his mother’s name was Naamah the
Ammonite. And his son Abijam reigned in his place.
And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
And Abijam walked in all the sins that his
father before him had committed, and his heart was not as fully devoted to the LORD his God as the heart of David his
forefather had been.
And Abijam
slept with his
fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and
Asa his son reigned in his
stead.
And Abijam rested with his
fathers and was buried in the City of David, and his son
Asa reigned in his place.
And
Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his
father.
And
Asa did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his
father David had done.
And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
He banished the male
shrine prostitutes from the land and removed all the idols that his
fathers had made.
And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.
And he brought into the house of the LORD the silver and gold and other articles that he and his father had dedicated.
There is a league between me and thee, and between my
father and thy
father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with
Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
“Let there be a treaty between me and you, between my
father and your
father. See, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with
Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”
And
Asa slept with his
fathers, and was buried with his
fathers in the city of David his
father: and
Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Asa rested with his
fathers and was buried with them in the city of his
father David, and his son
Jehoshaphat reigned in his place.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his
father, and in his sin
wherewith he made Israel to sin.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
So
Baasha slept with his
fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Baasha rested with his
fathers and was buried in Tirzah, and his son Elah reigned in his place.
So Omri
slept with his
fathers, and was buried in Samaria: and
Ahab his son reigned in his
stead.
And Omri rested with his
fathers and was buried in Samaria, and his son
Ahab reigned in his place.
And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy
father’s house, in that ye have
forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed
Baalim.
“I have not troubled Israel,”
Elijah replied, “but you and your
father’s house have, for you have
forsaken the commandments of the LORD and have followed the Baals.
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a
juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my
fathers.
while he himself traveled on a day’s journey into the wilderness. He sat down under a
broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my
fathers.”
And he left the oxen, and ran after
Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee,
kiss my
father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
So
Elisha left the oxen, ran after
Elijah, and said, “Please let me
kiss my
father and mother goodbye, and then I will follow you.” “Go on back,”
Elijah replied, “for what have I done to you?”
And Ben-
hadad said unto him, The cities, which my
father took from thy
father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my
father made in Samaria. Then said
Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.
Ben-
hadad said to him, “I will restore the cities my
father took from your
father; you may set up your own marketplaces in Damascus, as my
father did in Samaria.” “By this treaty I release you,”
Ahab replied. So he made a treaty with him and sent him away.
And
Naboth said to
Ahab, The LORD
forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my
fathers unto thee.
But
Naboth replied, “The LORD
forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my
fathers.”
And
Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which
Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my
fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.
So
Ahab went to his palace,
sullen and
angry because
Naboth the Jezreelite had told him, “I will not give you the inheritance of my
fathers.” He lay down on his bed, turned his face away, and refused to eat.
And
Ahab rested with his
fathers, and his son
Ahaziah reigned in his place.
And he walked in all the ways of
Asa his
father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.
And
Jehoshaphat walked in all the ways of his
father Asa; he did not turn away from them, but did what was right in the eyes of the LORD. The high places, however, were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
And the
remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his
father Asa, he took out of the land.
He banished from the land the male
shrine prostitutes who remained from the days of his
father Asa.
And
Jehoshaphat slept with his
fathers, and was buried with his
fathers in the city of David his
father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Jehoshaphat rested with his
fathers and was buried with them in the city of his
father David. And his son Jehoram reigned in his place.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his
father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the ways of his
father and mother and of
Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin.
For he served
Baal, and worshipped him, and
provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his
father had done.
Ahaziah served and worshiped
Baal,
provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger, just as his
father had done.
And
Elisha saw it, and he
cried, My
father, my
father, the
chariot of Israel, and the
horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his
father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of
Baal that his
father had made.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as his
father and mother had done. He removed the sacred
pillar of
Baal that his
father had made.
And
Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy
father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him,
Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
Elisha, however, said to the king of Israel, “What have we to do with each other? Go to the prophets of your
father and of your mother!” “No,” replied the king of Israel, “for it is the LORD who has summoned these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.
And the child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the harvesters.
And he said unto his
father, My head, my head. And he said to a
lad, Carry him to his mother.
“My head! My head!” he
complained to his
father. So his
father told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”
And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My
father, if the prophet had
bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?
Naaman’s servants, however, approached him and said, “My
father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be

And the king of Israel said unto

And
Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “

chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his
sepulchre with his
fathers in the city of David.
Then his servants carried him by

Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

Hazael king of
