Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations
whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
And you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid, declares the LORD, for I am with you. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have banished you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
Fear, and the pit, and the
snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
Terror and pit and
snare await you, O dweller of Moab,” declares the LORD.
He that fleeth from the
fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the
snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their
visitation, saith the LORD.
“
Whoever flees the
panic will fall into the pit, and
whoever climbs from the pit will be caught in the
snare. For I will bring upon Moab the year of their punishment,” declares the LORD.
Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts, from all those that be about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth; and none shall gather up him that wandereth.
Behold, I am about to bring terror upon you, declares the Lord GOD of Hosts, from all those around you. You will each be driven
headlong, with no one to regather the fugitives.
Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to
flee, and
fear hath seized on her:
anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in
travail.
Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to
flee.
Panic has gripped her;
anguish and pain have seized her like a woman in labor.
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: they shall take to themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry unto them, Fear is on every side.
They will take their tents and flocks, their tent curtains and all their goods. They will take their camels for themselves. They will
shout to them: ‘Terror is on every side!’
Cut off the
sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the
sickle in the time of harvest: for
fear of the
oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall
flee every one to his own land.
Cut off the
sower from Babylon, and the one who wields the
sickle at harvest time. In the face of the
oppressor’s sword, each will turn to his own people, each will
flee to his own land.
In their heat I will make their
feasts, and I will make them
drunken, that they may
rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the LORD.
While they are
flushed with heat, I will serve them a
feast, and I will make them
drunk so that they may
revel; then they will fall
asleep forever and never
wake up, declares the LORD.
And lest your heart
faint, and ye
fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
Do not let your heart grow
faint, and do not be afraid when the
rumor is heard in the land; for a
rumor will come one year— and then another the next year— of violence in the land and of ruler against ruler.
The ways of
Zion do
mourn, because none come to the solemn
feasts: all her gates are
desolate: her priests
sigh, her virgins are
afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
The roads to
Zion mourn, because no one comes to her appointed
feasts. All her gates are deserted; her priests
groan, her maidens
grieve, and she herself is bitter with
anguish.
And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn
feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in
Zion, and hath
despised in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
He has laid waste His tabernacle like a garden
booth; He has destroyed His place of meeting. The LORD has made
Zion forget her appointed
feasts and Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has
despised both king and priest.
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath
abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn
feast.
The Lord has rejected His altar; He has abandoned His sanctuary; He has delivered the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have raised a
shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed
feast.
Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD’S anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have
swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.
You summoned my attackers on every side, as for the day of an appointed
feast. In the day of the LORD’s anger no one escaped or survived; my enemy has destroyed those I
nurtured and reared.
Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
You drew near when I called on You; You said, “Do not be afraid.”
As an
adamant harder than flint have I made thy
forehead:
fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a
rebellious house.
I will make your
forehead like a
diamond, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or dismayed at their presence, even though they are a
rebellious house.”
Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord GOD.
You fear the sword, so I will bring the sword against you, declares the Lord GOD.
If I cause
noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they
spoil it, so that it be
desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:
Or if I send wild beasts through the land to leave it childless and
desolate, with no man passing through it for
fear of the beasts,
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; A great eagle with great wings, longwinged, full of
feathers, which had
divers colours, came unto
Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the
cedar:
and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘A great eagle with great wings and long pinions, full of
feathers of many colors, came to
Lebanon and took away the top of the
cedar.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many
feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her
plantation.
But there was another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. And behold, this vine bent its roots toward him. It stretched out its branches to him from its planting bed, so that he might water it.
All the inhabitants of the isles shall be
astonished at thee, and their kings shall be
sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of
Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a
fear in the land of Egypt.
This is what the Lord GOD says: I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in
Memphis. There will no longer be a prince in Egypt, and I will instill
fear in that land.
As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Like the numerous flocks for sacrifices at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so the ruined cities will be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every
feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field,
Assemble yourselves, and come; gather
yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: ‘
Assemble and come together from all around to the
sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great
feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.
And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine
assemblies; and they shall
hallow my sabbaths.
In any dispute, they shall
officiate as judges and judge according to My ordinances. They must keep My laws and statutes regarding all My appointed
feasts, and they must keep My Sabbaths holy.
And it shall be the prince’s part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the
feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all
solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make
reconciliation for the house of Israel.
And it shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the
feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed
feasts of the house of Israel. He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings to make
atonement for the house of Israel.
On the
fourteenth day of the first month you are to observe the
Passover, a
feast of seven days, during which
unleavened bread shall be eaten.
And seven days of the
feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to the LORD, seven bullocks and seven rams without
blemish daily the seven days; and a
kid of the goats daily for a sin offering.
Each day during the seven days of the
feast, he shall provide seven bulls and seven rams without
blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD, along with a male goat for a sin offering.
In the seventh month, in the
fifteenth day of the month, shall he do the like in the
feast of the seven days, according to the sin offering, according to the burnt offering, and according to the meat offering, and according to the oil.
During the seven days of the
feast that begins on the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, he is to make the same provision for sin offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, and oil.’
But when the people of the land shall come before the LORD in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
When the people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed
feasts,
whoever enters by the north gate to worship must go out by the south gate, and
whoever enters by the south gate must go out by the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which he entered, but each must go out by the opposite gate.
And in the
feasts and in the
solemnities the meat offering shall be an
ephah to a
bullock, and
ephah to a ram, and to the lambs as he is able to give, and an
hin of oil to an
ephah.
At the festivals and appointed
feasts, the grain offering shall be an
ephah with a bull, an
ephah with a ram, and as much as one is able to give with the lambs, along with a
hin of oil per
ephah.
And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I
fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me
endanger my head to the king.
but he said to Daniel, “I
fear my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking
thinner than those of the other young men your age? You would
endanger my head before the king!”
The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon
Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the
dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles
feathers, and his
nails like birds’ claws.
At that moment the sentence against
Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from mankind. He
ate grass like an ox, and his body was
drenched with the
dew of heaven, until his hair grew like the
feathers of an eagle and his
nails like the claws of a bird.
Belshazzar the king made a great
feast to a thousand of his lords, and
drank wine before the thousand.
Later, King
Belshazzar held a great
feast for a thousand of his nobles, and he
drank wine with them.
And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages,
trembled and
feared before him: whom he would he
slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Because of the greatness that He bestowed on him, the people of every nation and language
trembled in
fear before him. He killed whom he wished and kept alive whom he wished; he
exalted whom he wished and humbled whom he wished.
I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men
tremble and
fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and
stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
I
hereby decree that in every part of my kingdom, men are to
tremble in
fear before the God of Daniel: For He is the living God, and He endures
forever; His kingdom will never be destroyed, and His dominion will never end.
Then said he unto me,
Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou
didst set thine heart to understand, and to
chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
“Do not be afraid, Daniel,” he said, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble
yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in
response to them.
And said, O man greatly beloved,
fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong,
yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
“Do not be afraid, you who are highly precious,” he said. “Peace be with you! Be strong now; be very strong!” As he spoke with me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”
I will also cause all her
mirth to cease, her
feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn
feasts.
I will put an end to all her
exultation: her
feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths— all her appointed
feasts.
Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.
Afterward, the people of Israel will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come
trembling to the LORD and to His goodness in the last days.
What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
What will you do on the appointed day, on the day of the LORD’s feast?
For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
Surely now they will say, “We have no king, for we do not
revere the LORD. What can a king do for us?”
The inhabitants of Samaria shall
fear because of the
calves of Beth-
aven: for the people thereof shall
mourn over it, and the priests thereof that
rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
The people of Samaria will
fear for the
calf of Beth-
aven. Indeed, its people will
mourn with its
idolatrous priests— those who
rejoiced in its glory— for it has been taken from them into exile.
And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
But I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt. I will again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the appointed feast.
Fear not, O land; be
glad and
rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.
Do not be afraid, O land;
rejoice and be
glad, for the LORD has done great things.
The lion hath
roared, who will not
fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but
prophesy?
The lion has
roared— who will not
fear? The Lord GOD has spoken— who will not
prophesy?
Therefore now shall they go
captive with the first that go
captive, and the
banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.
Therefore, you will now go into exile as the first of the
captives, and your
feasting and
lounging will come to an end.
And I will turn your
feasts into
mourning, and all your songs into
lamentation; and I will bring up
sackcloth upon all loins, and
baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the
mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.
And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.
“I am a Hebrew,” replied
Jonah. “I worship the LORD, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land.”
Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to Him.
Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be
defiled, and let our eye look upon
Zion.
But now many nations have assembled against you, saying, “Let her be
defiled, and let us
feast our eyes on
Zion.”
The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
The voice of the LORD calls out to the city (and it is sound wisdom to
fear Your name): “
Heed the rod and the One who ordained it.
They shall
lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall
fear because of thee.
They will
lick the dust like a
snake, like reptiles slithering on the ground. They will
crawl from their holes in the presence of the LORD our God; they will
tremble in
fear of You.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn
feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your
feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march through you; they will be utterly cut off.
They are terrible and
dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
They are
dreaded and
feared; from themselves they derive justice and sovereignty.
I said, Surely thou
wilt fear me, thou
wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off,
howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
I said, ‘Surely you will
fear Me and accept correction.’ Then her dwelling place would not be cut off
despite all for which I punished her. But they rose early to corrupt all their deeds.
The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
The LORD has taken away your punishment; He has turned back your enemy. Israel’s King, the LORD, is among you; no longer will you
fear any
harm.
In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem,
Fear thou not: and to
Zion, Let not thine hands be
slack.
On that day they will say to Jerusalem: “Do not
fear, O
Zion; do not let your hands fall
limp.
I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
“I will gather those among you who
grieve over the appointed
feasts, so that you will no longer suffer reproach.
Then
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the
remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of
Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did
fear before the LORD.
Then
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the
remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of the prophet
Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. So the people
feared the LORD.
According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.
This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a
curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing:
fear not, but let your hands be strong.
As you have been a
curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid; let your hands be strong.”
So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.
“so now I have resolved to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and
gladness, and
cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: The fasts of the fourth, the fifth, the seventh, and the tenth months will become times of joy and
gladness,
cheerful feasts for the house of Judah. Therefore you are to love both truth and peace.”
Ashkelon shall see it, and
fear;
Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and
Ekron; for her expectation shall be
ashamed; and the king shall perish from
Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
Ashkelon will see and
fear;
Gaza will
writhe in
agony, as will
Ekron, for her hope will wither. There will cease to be a king in
Gaza, and Ashkelon will be uninhabited.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to
celebrate the
Feast of Tabernacles.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague,
wherewith the LORD will
smite the heathen that come not up to keep the
feast of tabernacles.
And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter in, then the rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not go up to
celebrate the
Feast of Tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all the nations that do not go up to
celebrate the
Feast of Tabernacles.
A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my
fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that
despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we
despised thy name?
“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. But if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is your
fear of Me?” says the LORD of Hosts to you priests who
despise My name. “But you ask, ‘How have we
despised Your name?’
But
cursed be the
deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is
dreadful among the heathen.
“But
cursed is the
deceiver who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but sacrifices a defective animal to the Lord. For I am a great King,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and My name is to be
feared among the nations.
Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.
Behold, I will
rebuke your descendants, and I will spread dung on your faces, the waste from your
feasts, and you will be carried off with it.
My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the
fear wherewith he
feared me, and was afraid before my name.
“My covenant with him was one of life and peace, which I gave to him; it called for reverence, and he
revered Me and stood in
awe of My name.
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that
oppress the
hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and
fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. And I will be a swift witness against sorcerers and adulterers and perjurers, against oppressors of the widowed and fatherless, and against those who
defraud laborers of their wages and deny justice to the foreigner but do not
fear Me,” says the LORD of Hosts.
Then they that
feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD
hearkened, and heard it, and a book of
remembrance was written before him for them that
feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
At that time those who
feared the LORD spoke with one another, and the LORD
listened and heard them. So a
scroll of
remembrance was written before Him regarding those who
feared the LORD and honored His name.
But unto you that
fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with
healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as
calves of the
stall.
“But for you who
fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with
healing in its wings, and you will go out and
leap like
calves from the
stall.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
But after he had
pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
And he saith unto them, Why are ye
fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and
rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
“You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and
rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm.
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and
hid, that shall not be known.
So do not be afraid of them. For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.
And
fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather
fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in
hell.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead,
fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in
hell.
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.
And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they
cried out for
fear.
When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were
terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and
cried out in
fear.
But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
But if we say, ‘From men,’ we are afraid of the people, for they all regard John as a prophet.”
But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
Although they wanted to arrest Him, they were afraid of the crowds, because the people regarded Him as a prophet.
And love the
uppermost rooms at
feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,
“You know that the
Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be
crucified.”
But they said, Not on the
feast day, lest there be an
uproar among the people.
“But not during the
feast,” they said, “or there may be a
riot among the people.”
Now the first day of the
feast of
unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where
wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the
passover?
On the first day of the
Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the
Passover?”
Now at that
feast the governor was
wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
Now it was the governor’s custom at the feast to release to the crowd a prisoner of their choosing.
Now when the
centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the
earthquake, and those things that were done, they
feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
When the
centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the
earthquake and all that had happened, they were
terrified and said, “Truly this was the Son of God.”
And for
fear of him the keepers did
shake, and became as dead men.
The guards
trembled in
fear of him and became like dead men.
And the angel answered and said unto the women,
Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was
crucified.
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was
crucified.
And they departed quickly from the
sepulchre with
fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
So they
hurried away from the tomb in
fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.
And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
“Why are you so afraid?” He asked. “Do you still have no faith?”
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Overwhelmed with
fear, they asked one another, “Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
But the woman
fearing and
trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him
trembling in
fear, and she told Him the whole truth.
For Herod
