For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
For
everyone who asks receives; he who seeks
finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through
arid places seeking rest and does not
find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’
And when he cometh, he
findeth it swept and
garnished.
On its return, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.
Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and dwell there. And the
final plight of that man is worse than the first.”
And he said,
Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye
lade men with burdens
grievous to be borne, and ye
yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your
fingers.
“
Woe to you as well, experts in the law!” He replied. “You
weigh men down with heavy burdens, but you
yourselves will not lift a
finger to
lighten their load.
Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall
find watching:
verily I say unto you, that he shall
gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
Blessed are those servants whom the master
finds on watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them
recline at the table, and he himself will come and wait on them.
And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night and
finds them
alert, those servants will be blessed.
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his
vineyard; and he came and sought fruit
thereon, and found none.
Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his
vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it, but did not
find any.
Then said he unto the dresser of his
vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and
find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
So he said to the keeper of the
vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for fruit on this fig tree and
haven’t found any. Therefore cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
If it bears fruit next year, fine. But if not, you can cut it down.’”
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it?
Lest
haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to
finish it, all that behold it begin to
mock him,
Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is unable to
finish the work,
everyone who sees it will
ridicule him,
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
saying, ‘This man could not finish what he started to build.’
What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them,
doth not leave the
ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he
find it?
“What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the
ninety-nine in the pasture and go after the one that is lost, until he
finds it?
And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders,
rejoicing.
And when he
finds it, he
joyfully puts it on his shoulders,
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece,
doth not light a
candle, and
sweep the house, and seek
diligently till she
find it?
Or what woman who has ten silver coins and loses one of them does not light a lamp,
sweep her house, and search carefully until she
finds it?
And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying,
Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
And when she
finds it, she calls together her friends and neighbors to say, ‘
Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost coin.’
And when he came to himself, he said, How many
hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to
spare, and I perish with hunger!
Finally he came to his senses and said, ‘How many of my father’s
hired servants have
plenty of food? But here I am,
starving to death!
But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best
robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and
shoes on his feet:
But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best
robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his
finger and
sandals on his feet.

fine linen, who lived each day in
joyous splendor.
And he
cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send
Lazarus, that he may dip the
tip of his
finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am
tormented in this flame.
So he
cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send
Lazarus to dip the
tip of his
finger in water and cool my tongue. For I am in
agony in this fire.’
I tell you that he will
avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he
find faith on the earth?
I tell you, He will
promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He
find faith on earth?”
And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
When he returned from
procuring his
kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to
find out what each one had
earned.
Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall
find a
colt tied,
whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him
hither.
saying, “Go into the village
ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will
find a
colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat.
Untie it and bring it here.

find what they might do: for all the people were very

Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I
find no fault in this man.

find no basis for a charge against this man.”

but they did not find His body. They came and told us they had seen a vision of angels, who said that Jesus was alive.

The day following Jesus would go forth into
Galilee, and
findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
The next day Jesus decided to set out for
Galilee.
Finding Philip, He told him, “Follow Me.”
Philip
findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of
Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
Philip found
Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets
foretold—Jesus of
Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning
doth set forth good wine; and when men have well
drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
and said, “
Everyone serves the
fine wine first, and then the
cheap wine after the guests are
drunk. But you have saved the
fine wine until now!”

Afterward, Jesus found the man at the temple and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Stop
sinning, or something worse may happen to you.”
But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
But I have testimony more substantial than that of John. For the works that the Father has given Me to
accomplish—the very works I am doing—
testify about Me that the Father has sent Me.
Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
Then said the Jews among themselves,
Whither will he go, that we shall not
find him? will he go unto the
dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
At this, the Jews said to one another, “Where does He intend to go that we will not
find Him? Will He go where the Jews are
dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
What does He mean by saying, ‘You will look for Me, but you will not find Me,’ and, ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”
This they said,
tempting him, that they might have to
accuse him. But Jesus
stooped down, and with his
finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
They said this to test Him, in order to have a basis for
accusing Him. But Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with His
finger.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
I am the gate. If
anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and
find pasture.
And Jesus, when he had found a young
ass, sat
thereon; as it is written,
Finding a young

“Do you finally believe?” Jesus replied.
I have
glorified thee on the earth: I have
finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I
find in him no fault at all.
“What is truth?”
Pilate asked. And having said this, he went out again to the Jews and told them, “I
find no basis for a charge against Him.
Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I
find no fault in him.
Once again
Pilate came out and said to the Jews, “Look, I am bringing Him out to you to let you know that I
find no basis for a charge against Him.”
When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they
cried out, saying,
Crucify him,
crucify him.
Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and
crucify him: for I
find no fault in him.
As soon as the chief priests and officers saw Him, they
shouted, “
Crucify Him!
Crucify Him!” “You take Him and
crucify Him,”
Pilate replied, “for I
find no basis for a charge against Him.”
When Jesus therefore had received the
vinegar, he said, It is
finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
When Jesus had received the
sour wine, He said, “It is
finished.” And bowing His head, He yielded up His spirit.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the
nails, and put my
finger into the print of the
nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “Unless I see the
nail marks in His hands, and put my
finger where the
nails have been, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe.”
Then saith he to Thomas, reach
hither thy
finger, and behold my hands; and reach
hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will
find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to
haul it in because of the great number of fish.
So when they had
dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of
Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him,
Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
When they had
finished eating, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love Me more than these?” “
Yes, Lord,” he answered, “You know I love You.” Jesus replied, “Feed My lambs.”
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go,
finding nothing how they might
punish them, because of the people: for all men
glorified God for that which was done.
After further threats they let them go. They could not
find a way to
punish them, because all the people were
glorifying God for what had happened.
Then fell she down
straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
At that instant she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.
But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned, and told,
But on arriving at the
jail, the officers did not
find them there. So they returned with the report:
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest
haply ye be found even to fight against God.
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even
find yourselves fighting against God.”
Then famine and great suffering swept across Egypt and
Canaan, and our fathers could not
find food.
Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
who found favor in the sight of God and asked to provide a dwelling place for the God of Jacob.
And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren,
hearken unto me:
When they had
finished speaking, James declared, “Brothers,
listen to me!
And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was
wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
On the Sabbath we went outside the city gate along the river, where it was customary to find a place of prayer. After sitting down, we spoke to the women who had gathered there.
And when they found them not, they drew
Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world
upside down are come
hither also;
But when they could not
find them, they
dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city officials,
shouting, “These men who have turned the world
upside down have now come here,
That they should seek the Lord, if
haply they might feel after him, and
find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
God intended that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the interior and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples
And when the townclerk had
appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the
Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess
Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
Finally the city clerk quieted the crowd and declared, “Men of Ephesus, doesn’t
everyone know that the city of Ephesus is
guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of her image, which fell from heaven?
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life
dear unto myself, so that I might
finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to
testify the gospel of the grace of God.
But I consider my life of no value to me, if only I may
finish my course and complete the ministry I have received from the Lord Jesus—the ministry of
testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
And
finding a ship sailing over unto
Phenicia, we went
aboard, and set forth.
Finding a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we boarded it and set sail.
And
finding disciples, we
tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
We sought out the disciples in Tyre and stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they kept telling Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
And when we had
finished our course from Tyre, we came to
Ptolemais, and
saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
When we had
finished our voyage from Tyre, we landed at
Ptolemais, where we
greeted the brothers and stayed with them for a day.
And there arose a great cry: and the
scribes that were of the
Pharisees’ part arose, and
strove, saying, We
find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
A great
clamor arose, and some
scribes from the party of the
Pharisees got up and
contended sharply, “We
find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”
And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
Yet my accusers did not
find me
debating with
anyone in the temple or
riling up a crowd in the synagogues or in the city.
And as he reasoned of righteousness,
temperance, and judgment to come
Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
As Paul
expounded on righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment,
Felix became
frightened and said, “You may go for now. When I
find the time, I will call for you.”
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: “The Holy Spirit was right when He spoke to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
So this is the principle I have discovered: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.
Thou
wilt say then unto me, Why
doth he yet
find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
One of you will say to me, “Then why does God still find fault? For who can resist His will?”
For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
For the Lord will carry out His sentence on the earth thoroughly and decisively.”
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
O, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!
But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are
puffed up, but the power.
But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord is willing, and then I will
find out not only what these
arrogant people are saying, but what power they have.
I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not
Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into
Macedonia.
I had no peace in my spirit, because I did not
find my brother
Titus there. So I said goodbye to them and went on to
Macedonia.
Insomuch that we desired
Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also
finish in you the same grace also.
So we urged
Titus to help complete your act of grace, just as he had started it.
Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a
readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.
Now finish the work, so that you may complete it just as eagerly as you began, according to your means.
Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and
find you unprepared, we—to say nothing of you—would be
ashamed of having been so
confident.
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
For I am afraid that when I come, I may not
find you as I wish, and you may not
find me as you wish. I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy,
rage,
rivalry,
slander,
gossip,
arrogance, and disorder.
Finally, brethren,
farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Finally, brothers,
rejoice! Aim for perfect harmony,
encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
Are ye so
foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Are you so
foolish? After starting in the Spirit, are you now
finishing in the flesh?
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
Finally, my brethren,
rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not
grievous, but for you it is safe.
Finally, my brothers,
rejoice in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a
safeguard for you.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy—think on these things.
For this cause, when I could no longer
forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the
tempter have
tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
For this reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to
find out about your faith, for fear that the
tempter had
somehow tempted you and caused our labor to be in vain.
Furthermore then we
beseech you, brethren, and
exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
Finally, brothers, we ask and
encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God, just as you have received from us. This is how you already live, so you should do so all the more.
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be
glorified, even as it is with you:
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor, just as it was with you.
The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
May the Lord grant
Onesiphorus His mercy on that day. You know very well how much he ministered to me in Ephesus.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have
sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were
finished from the foundation of the world.
Now we who have believed enter that rest. As for the others, it is just as God has said: “So I
swore on oath in My anger, ‘They shall never enter My rest.’” And yet His works have been
finished since the foundation of the world.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
But God found fault with the people and said: “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
Looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him
endured the cross,
scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
