Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Every thing that openeth the
matrix in all
flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the
firstborn of man shalt thou surely
redeem, and the
firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou
redeem.
The
firstborn of every
womb, whether man or beast, that is offered to the LORD belongs to you. But you must surely
redeem every
firstborn son and every
firstborn male of unclean animals.
And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder are thine.
And their meat belongs to you, just as the breast and right
thigh of the wave offering belong to you.
And one shall burn the
heifer in his sight; her skin, and her
flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:
Then the
heifer must be burned in his sight. Its hide, its
flesh, and its blood are to be burned, along with its dung.
Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall
bathe his
flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.
Then the priest must wash his clothes and
bathe his body in water; after that he may enter the camp, but he will be
ceremonially unclean until evening.
And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and
bathe his
flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.
The one who burned the
heifer must also wash his clothes and
bathe his body in water, and he too will be
ceremonially unclean until evening.
Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
“May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all
flesh,
appoint a man over the congregation
For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
For who of all flesh has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the fire, as we have, and survived?
Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat
flesh in all thy gates,
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the
roebuck, and as of the
hart.
But whenever you want, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your gates, according to the blessing the LORD your God has given you. Both the
ceremonially clean and unclean may eat it as they would a
gazelle or deer,
When the LORD thy God shall
enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat
flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat
flesh; thou mayest eat
flesh,
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
When the LORD your God expands your territory as He has promised, and you
crave meat and say, “I want to eat meat,” you may eat it whenever you want.
Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.
Only be sure not to eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the meat.
And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.
Present the meat and blood of your burnt offerings on the altar of the LORD your God. The blood of your other sacrifices must be poured out beside the altar of the LORD your God, but you may eat the meat.
And the
swine, because it divideth the
hoof, yet cheweth not the
cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their
flesh, nor touch their dead
carcase.
Although they
chew the
cud, they do not have a divided
hoof. They are unclean for you, as well as the pig; though it has a divided
hoof, it does not
chew the
cud. It is unclean for you. You must not eat its meat or touch its
carcass.
And there shall be no
leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the
flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.
No
leaven is to be found in all your land for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice in the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the
flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
Then you will eat the fruit of your
womb, the
flesh of the sons and daughters whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you.
So that he will not give to any of them of the
flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
refusing to share with any of them the
flesh of his children he will eat because he has nothing left in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you within all your gates.
I will make mine arrows
drunk with blood, and my sword shall
devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the
captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
I will make My arrows
drunk with blood, while My sword devours
flesh— the blood of the slain and
captives, the heads of the enemy leaders.”
And
Gideon went in, and made ready a
kid, and
unleavened cakes of an
ephah of flour: the
flesh he put in a
basket, and he put the
broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.
So
Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and
unleavened bread and an
ephah of flour. He placed the meat in a
basket and the
broth in a pot and brought them out to present to Him under the oak.
And the angel of God said unto him, Take the
flesh and the
unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the
broth. And he did so.
And the angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the
unleavened bread, lay them on this rock, and pour out the
broth.” And
Gideon did so.
Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the
flesh and the
unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the
flesh and the
unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
Then the angel of the LORD extended the
tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the
unleavened bread. And fire
flared from the rock and consumed the meat and the
unleavened bread. Then the angel of the LORD
vanished from his sight.
And
Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will
tear your
flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
“Very well,”
Gideon replied, “when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, I will
tear your
flesh with the thorns and briers of the wilderness!”
Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of
Shechem, Whether is better for you, either that all the sons of Jerubbaal, which are
threescore and ten persons, reign over you, or that one reign over you? remember also that I am your bone and your
flesh.
“Please ask all the leaders of
Shechem, ‘Is it better for you that seventy men, all the sons of Jerubbaal, rule over you, or just one man?’ Remember that I am your own
flesh and blood.”
And the priest’s custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest’s servant came, while the
flesh was in
seething, with a
fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
or for the custom of the priests with the people. When any man offered a sacrifice, the servant of the priest would come with a three-
pronged meat
fork while the meat was boiling
And he struck it into the pan, or
kettle, or
caldron, or pot; all that the
fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in
Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.
and
plunge it into the pan or
kettle or cauldron or
cooking pot. And the priest would claim for himself whatever the meat
fork brought up. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to
Shiloh.
Also before they burnt the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give
flesh to
roast for the priest; for he will not have
sodden flesh of thee, but raw.
Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to
roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
And the
Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy
flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
“Come here,” he called to David, “and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!”
Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?
Why should I take my bread and water and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give them to these men whose origin I do not know?”
Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto
Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy
flesh.
Then all the tribes of Israel came to David at
Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own
flesh and blood.
And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a
cake of bread, and a good piece of
flesh, and a
flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
Then he distributed to every man and woman among the multitude of Israel a
loaf of bread, a date
cake, and a
raisin cake. And all the people departed, each for his own home.
And David said to
Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my
bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this
Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him
curse; for the LORD hath
bidden him.
Then David said to
Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my own son, my own
flesh and blood, seeks my life. How much more, then, this
Benjamite! Leave him alone and let him
curse me, for the LORD has told him so.
Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?
You are my brothers, my own flesh and blood. So why should you be the last to restore the king?’
And say ye to
Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my
flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of
Joab.
And say to
Amasa, ‘Aren’t you my
flesh and blood? May God
punish me, and ever so severely, if from this time you are not the commander of my army in place of
Joab!’”
And the ravens brought him bread and
flesh in the morning, and bread and
flesh in the evening; and he
drank of the
brook.
The ravens would bring him bread and meat in the morning and evening, and he would drink from the
brook.
And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and
slew them, and boiled their
flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after
Elijah, and ministered unto him.
So
Elisha turned back from him, took his pair of oxen, and slaughtered them. With the oxen’s
equipment, he
cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they
ate. Then he set out to follow and serve
Elijah.
And it came to pass, when
Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put
sackcloth upon his
flesh, and fasted, and lay in
sackcloth, and went softly.
And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
Then
Elisha got on the bed and lay on the boy, mouth to mouth, eye to eye, and hand to hand. As he stretched himself out over him, the boy’s body became warm.
And
Elisha sent a
messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and thy
flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
Then
Elisha sent him a
messenger, who said, “Go and wash
yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your
flesh will be restored, and you will be clean.”
Then went he down, and
dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his
flesh came again like unto the
flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
So
Naaman went down and
dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of God, and his
flesh was restored and became like that of a little child, and he was clean.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had
sackcloth within upon his
flesh.
When the king heard the words of the woman, he
tore his clothes. And as he passed by on the wall, the people saw the
sackcloth under his clothes next to his skin.
Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant
Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of
Jezreel shall dogs eat the
flesh of
Jezebel:
So they went back and told
Jehu, who replied, “This is the word of the LORD, which He spoke through His servant
Elijah the Tishbite: ‘On the plot of ground at
Jezreel the dogs will
devour the
flesh of
Jezebel.
And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt
beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto
Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy
flesh.
Then all Israel came together to David at
Hebron and said, “Here we are, your own
flesh and blood.
And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a
loaf of bread, and a good piece of
flesh, and a
flagon of wine.
Then he distributed to every man and woman of Israel a
loaf of bread, a date
cake, and a
raisin cake.
Also pure gold for the
fleshhooks, and the
bowls, and the cups: and for the golden basons he gave gold by weight for every
bason; and likewise silver by weight for every
bason of silver:
the weight of the pure gold for the forks,
sprinkling bowls, and pitchers; the weight of each gold
dish; the weight of each silver
bowl;
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the house of the LORD of bright brass.
and the pots, shovels, meat forks, and all the other articles. All these objects that Huram-abi made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.
With him is an arm of
flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of
Hezekiah king of Judah.
With him is only the arm of
flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.” So the people were strengthened by the words of
Hezekiah king of Judah.
Yet now our
flesh is as the
flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into
bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto
bondage already: neither is it in our power to
redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
We and our children are just like our countrymen and their children, yet we are subjecting our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters are already
enslaved, but we are powerless to
redeem them because our fields and vineyards belong to others.”
But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his
flesh, and he will
curse thee to thy face.
But stretch out Your hand and strike his
flesh and bones, and he will surely
curse You to Your face.”
Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:
Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
Is my strength like that of stone, or my flesh made of bronze?
My
flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become
loathsome.
Hast thou eyes of
flesh? or seest thou as man
seeth?
Do You have eyes of flesh? Do You see as man sees?
Thou hast clothed me with skin and
flesh, and hast
fenced me with bones and sinews.
You clothed me with skin and
flesh, and
knit me together with bones and sinews.
Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?
Why do I put myself at risk and take my life in my own hands?
But his
flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall
mourn.
He feels only the pain of his own body and mourns only for himself.”
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
Though his face is covered with fat and his waistline bulges with flesh,
My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
My skin and
flesh cling to my bones; I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
Why do ye
persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my
flesh?
Why do you
persecute me as God does? Will you never get enough of my
flesh?
And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God.
Even when I remember I am afraid, and
trembling taketh hold on my
flesh.
When I remember, terror takes hold, and my body trembles in
horror.
If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
if the men of my house have not said, ‘Who is there who has not had his fill?’—
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
His
flesh wastes away from sight, and his hidden bones
protrude.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:
then his flesh is refreshed like a child’s; he returns to the days of his youth.
All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
all flesh would perish together and mankind would return to the dust.
The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
The folds of his
flesh are
tightly joined; they are firm and immovable.
Therefore my heart is
glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my
flesh also shall rest in hope.
Therefore my heart is
glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely.
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my
flesh, they
stumbled and fell.
When the wicked came upon me to
devour my
flesh, my enemies and foes
stumbled and fell.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
There is no soundness in my body because of Your anger; there is no rest in my bones because of my sin.
For my loins are filled with a
loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my
flesh.
For my loins are full of burning pain, and no soundness remains in my body.
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my
flesh longeth for thee in a dry and
thirsty land, where no water is;
O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and
weary land without water.
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
O You who
listen to prayer, all people will come to You.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
My
flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion
forever.
Behold, he
smote the rock, that the waters
gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide
flesh for his people?
When He struck the rock, water
gushed out and torrents
raged. But can He also give bread or supply His people with meat?”
He rained
flesh also upon them as dust, and
feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:
He rained meat on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea.
For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
He remembered that they were but
flesh, a passing
breeze that does not return.
The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
They have given the corpses of Your servants as food to the birds of the air, the flesh of Your saints to the beasts of the earth.
My soul longeth,
yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my
flesh crieth out for the living God.
My soul longs, even
faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my
flesh cry out for the living God.
Through my loud
groaning my
flesh clings to my bones.
My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
My knees are weak from fasting, and my body grows
lean and
gaunt.
My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
My
flesh trembles in
awe of You; I stand in fear of Your judgments.
Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.
He gives food to every creature. His loving devotion endures
forever.
My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all
flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
My mouth will declare the praise of the LORD; let every creature
bless His holy name
forever and ever.
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
For they are life to those who find them, and health to the whole body.
And thou
mourn at the last, when thy
flesh and thy body are consumed,
At the end of your life you will
groan when your
flesh and your body are spent,
The
merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own
flesh.
A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself.
A sound heart is the life of the
flesh: but
envy the
rottenness of the bones.
A
tranquil heart is life to the body, but
envy rots the bones.
Be not among winebibbers; among
riotous eaters of
flesh:
Do not join those who drink too much wine or
gorge themselves on meat.
The
fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own
flesh.
The
fool folds his hands and consumes his own
flesh.
Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy
flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be
angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
Do not let your mouth cause your
flesh to sin, and do not tell the
messenger that your
vow was a mistake. Why should God be
angry with your words and destroy the work of your hands?
Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy
flesh: for
childhood and youth are vanity.
So
banish sorrow from your heart, and cast off pain from your body, for youth and
vigor are fleeting.
And further, by these, my son, be
admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a
weariness of the
flesh.
And by these, my son, be further
warned: There is no end to the making of many books, and much study wearies the body.
And he shall
snatch on the right hand, and be
hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the
flesh of his own arm:
They
carve out what is on the right, but they are still
hungry; they eat what is on the left, but they are still not satisfied. Each one devours the
flesh of his own offspring.
And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his
flesh shall wax
lean.
“In that day the
splendor of Jacob will
fade, and the fat of his body will waste away,
And behold joy and
gladness,
slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating
flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to
morrow we shall die.
But look, there is joy and
gladness,
butchering of cattle and slaughtering of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine: “Let us eat and drink, for
tomorrow we die!”
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses
flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is
holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
But the Egyptians are men, not God; their horses are
flesh, not spirit. When the LORD stretches out His hand, the helper will
stumble, and the one he helps will fall; both will perish together.
And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt
beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all humanity together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All
flesh is grass, and all the
goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
A voice says, “Cry out!” And I asked, “What should I cry out?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field.
He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth
flesh; he roasteth
roast, and is satisfied:
yea, he warmeth himself, and saith,
Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
He burns half of it in the fire, and he roasts meat on that half. He eats the
roast and is satisfied. Indeed, he warms himself and says, “
Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.”
