Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
I
foretold the former things long ago; they came out of My mouth and I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.
I have even
from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine
idol hath done them, and my
graven image, and my
molten image, hath commanded them.
Therefore I declared it to you long ago; I
announced it before it came to pass, so that you could not claim, ‘My
idol has done this; my carved image and
molten god has ordained it.’
Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things
from this time, even hidden things, and thou
didst not know them.
You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not acknowledge them? From now on I will tell you of new things, hidden things unknown to you.
They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before
today. So you cannot claim, ‘I already knew them!’
You have never heard; you have never understood; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew how
deceitful you are; you have been called a
rebel from birth.
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
Come near to Me and
listen to this:
From the beginning I have not spoken in secret;
from the time it happened, I was there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me, accompanied by His Spirit.
Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy
bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed
from before me.
Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and your offspring as numerous as its grains; their name would never be cut off or
eliminated from My presence.”
Go ye forth of Babylon,
flee ye
from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
Leave Babylon!
Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare it with a
shout of joy,
proclaim it, let it go out to the ends of the earth, saying, “The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!”
And they
thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he
clave the rock also, and the waters
gushed out.
They did not
thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them
from the rock; He split the rock, and water
gushed out.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and
hearken, ye people,
from far; The LORD hath called me
from the
womb;
from the
bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
Listen to Me, O islands; pay attention, O distant peoples: The LORD called Me
from the
womb;
from the body of My mother He named Me.
And now, saith the LORD that formed me
from the
womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
And now says the LORD, who formed Me
from the
womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel might be gathered to Him— for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and My God is My strength—
Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
Behold, they will come from far away, from the north and from the west, and from the land of Aswan.”
Thy children shall make
haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.
Your builders
hasten back; your destroyers and wreckers depart
from you.
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath
begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am
desolate, a
captive, and removing to and
fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
Then you will say in your heart, ‘Who has
begotten these for me? I was
bereaved and barren; I was exiled and rejected. So who has reared them? Look, I was left all alone, so where did they come
from?’”
Shall the prey be taken
from the mighty, or the lawful
captive delivered?
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that
plucked off the hair: I
hid not my face
from shame and
spitting.
I offered My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who
tore out My
beard. I did not hide My face
from scorn and
spittle.
Behold, all ye that
kindle a fire, that compass
yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have
kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
Behold, all you who
kindle a fire, who
array yourselves with firebrands, walk in the light of your fire and of the firebrands you have
lit! This is what you will receive
from My hand: You will lie down in a place of
torment.
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are
hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are
digged.
“
Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the LORD: Look to the rock
from which you were cut, and to the
quarry from which you were
hewn.
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed
from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
Pay attention to Me, My people, and
listen to Me, My nation; for a law will go out
from Me, and My justice will become a light to the nations; I will bring it about quickly.
For the
moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation
from generation to generation.
For the
moth will
devour them like a garment, and the worm will eat them like wool. But My righteousness will last
forever, My salvation through all generations.”
Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of
trembling, even the
dregs of the cup of my
fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:
Thus says your Lord, the LORD, even your God, who defends His people: “See, I have removed
from your hand the cup of
staggering.
From that
goblet, the cup of My
fury, you will never drink again.
Shake off your dust! Rise up and sit on your throne, O Jerusalem. Remove the chains
from your neck, O
captive Daughter of
Zion.
Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
Depart, depart, go out
from there! Touch no unclean thing; come out
from it,
purify yourselves, you who carry the vessels of the LORD.
He is
despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we
hid as it were our faces
from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not.
He was
despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. Like one
from whom men hide their faces, He was
despised, and we esteemed Him not.
He was taken
from prison and
from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the
transgression of my people was he
stricken.
By oppression and judgment He was taken away, and who can recount His descendants? For He was cut off
from the land of the living; He was
stricken for the
transgression of My people.
In a little wrath I
hid my face
from thee for a moment; but with
everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy
Redeemer.
For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
Though the mountains may be removed and the hills may be
shaken, My loving devotion will not depart
from you, and My covenant of peace will not be broken,” says the LORD, who has
compassion on you.
In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
In righteousness you will be established, far from oppression, for you will have no fear. Terror will be far removed, for it will not come near you.
Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me:
whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
If
anyone attacks you, it is not
from Me;
whoever assails you will fall before you.
No weapon that is formed against thee shall
prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt
condemn. This is the
heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
No weapon formed against you shall
prosper, and you will
refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the
heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their
vindication is
from Me,” declares the LORD.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow
from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may give seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater:
For just as rain and snow fall
from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it
bud and
sprout, and providing seed to
sow and food to eat,
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I please, and it shall
prosper in the thing
whereto I sent it.
so My word that proceeds
from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will
accomplish what I please, and it will
prosper where I send it.
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath
from polluting it, and keepeth his hand
from doing any evil.
Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without
profaning it and keeps his hand
from doing any evil.”
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me
from his people: neither let the
eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will utterly
exclude me
from His people.” And let the
eunuch not say, “I am but a dry tree.”
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath
from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD to minister to Him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be His servants— all who keep the Sabbath without
profaning it and who hold fast to My covenant—
Yea, they are
greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are
shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain,
from his quarter.
Like
ravenous dogs, they are never satisfied. They are
shepherds with no
discernment; they all turn to their own way, each one seeking his own gain:
The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and
merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away
from the evil to come.
The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart;
devout men are swept away, while no one considers that the righteous are guided
from the presence of evil.
I was
enraged by his sinful
greed, so I struck him and
hid My face in anger; yet he kept turning back to the desires of his heart.
Is it not to deal thy bread to the
hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not
thyself from thine own flesh?
Isn’t it to share your bread with the
hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your home, to
clothe the naked when you see him, and not to turn away
from your own flesh and blood?
Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry out, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke
from your midst, the pointing of the finger and
malicious talk,
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
If you turn your foot from breaking the Sabbath, from doing as you please on My holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight, and the LORD’s holy day honorable, if you honor it by not going your own way or seeking your own pleasure or speaking idle words,
But your
iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have
hid his face
from you, that he will not hear.
But your
iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face
from you, so that He does not hear.
Therefore is judgment far
from us, neither
doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
Therefore justice is far
from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We hope for light, but there is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in
gloom.
We
roar all like bears, and
mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off
from us.
We all
growl like bears and
moan like doves. We hope for justice, but find none, for salvation, but it is far
from us.
In
transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away
from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering
from the heart words of
falsehood.
rebelling and denying the LORD, turning away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering lies from the heart.
Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth
from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
Truth is missing, and
whoever turns
from evil becomes prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
So shall they fear the name of the LORD where the sun sets, and His glory where it rises. For He will come like a
raging flood, driven by the breath of the LORD.
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
“As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit will not depart from you, and My words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children and grandchildren, from now on and forevermore,” says the LORD.
Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come
from far, and thy daughters shall be
nursed at thy side.
Lift up your eyes and look around: They all gather and come to you; your sons will come
from afar, and your daughters will be carried on the arm.
The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the
dromedaries of
Midian and
Ephah; all they
from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall
shew forth the praises of the LORD.
Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of
Tarshish first, to bring thy sons
from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath
glorified thee.
Surely the islands will wait for Me, with the ships of
Tarshish in the lead, to bring your children
from afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has
glorified you.
Whereas thou hast been
forsaken and
hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal
excellency, a joy of many generations.
Who is this that cometh
from Edom, with
dyed garments
from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his
apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
I have
trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will
tread them in mine anger, and
trample them in my
fury; and their blood shall be
sprinkled upon my garments, and I will
stain all my
raiment.
“I have
trodden the winepress alone, and no one
from the nations was with Me. I
trampled them in My anger and
trod them down in My
fury; their blood
spattered My garments, and all My clothes were
stained.
Look down
from heaven, and behold
from the
habitation of thy
holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy
bowels and of thy
mercies toward me? are they restrained?
Look down
from heaven and see,
from Your holy and glorious
habitation. Where are Your zeal and might? Your
yearning and
compassion for me are restrained.
Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our
redeemer; thy name is
from everlasting.
Yet You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O LORD, are our Father; our
Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.
O LORD, why hast thou made us to
err from thy ways, and
hardened our heart
from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.
Why, O LORD, do You make us
stray from Your ways and
harden our hearts
from fearing You? Return, for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your
heritage.
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
From ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast
hid thy face
from us, and hast consumed us, because of our
iniquities.
No one calls on Your name or strives to take hold of You. For You have hidden Your face from us and delivered us into the hand of our iniquity.
Which remain among the graves, and
lodge in the monuments, which eat
swine’s flesh, and
broth of
abominable things is in their vessels;
And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an
inheritor of my mountains: and mine
elect shall
inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And I will bring forth descendants
from Jacob, and heirs
from Judah; My
elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there.
That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall
bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall
swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are
hid from mine eyes.
Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth, and
whoever takes an oath in the land will
swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden
from My sight.
A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.
Hear the
uproar from the city;
listen to the voice
from the temple! It is the voice of the LORD, repaying His enemies what they deserve!
And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to
Tarshish,
Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to
Tubal, and
Javan, to the isles
afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.
I will establish a sign among them, and I will send survivors
from among them to the nations—to
Tarshish, Put, and the archers of Lud; to
Tubal,
Javan, and the islands far away who have not heard of My fame or seen My glory. So they will
proclaim My glory among the nations.
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will bring all your brothers
from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.
And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a
seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
Again the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “What do you see?” “I see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is
tilting toward us
from the north.”
Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
Then the LORD said to me, “
Disaster from the north will be poured out on all who live in the land.
Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
This is what the LORD says: “What fault did your fathers find in Me that they
strayed so far
from Me, and followed worthless idols, and became worthless themselves?
Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of
drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
They did not ask, ‘Where is the LORD who brought us up
from the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, a land of
drought and darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?’
Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the
degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?
I had planted you like a choice vine
from the very best seed. How could you turn
yourself before Me into a
rotten, wild vine?
Withhold thy foot
from being
unshod, and thy throat
from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
You should have kept your feet
from going bare and your throat
from being
thirsty. But you said, ‘It is hopeless! For I love foreign gods, and I must go after them.’
Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.
How
skillfully you pursue love! Even the most immoral of women could learn
from your ways.
Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn
from me. Behold, I will
plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not
sinned.
you say, ‘I am innocent. Surely His anger will turn
from me.’ Behold, I will judge you, because you say, ‘I have not
sinned.’
Yea, thou shalt go forth
from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not
prosper in them.
Moreover, you will leave that place with your hands on your head, for the LORD has rejected those you trust; you will not
prosper by their help.”
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go
from him, and become another man’s, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly
polluted? but thou hast played the
harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
“If a man divorces his wife and she leaves him to marry another, can he ever return to her? Would not such a land be completely
defiled? But you have played the
harlot with many lovers— and you would return to Me?” declares the LORD.
Wilt thou not
from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
Have you not just called to Me, ‘My Father, You are my friend from youth.
Turn, O
backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to
Zion:
“Return, O faithless children,” declares the LORD, “for I am your master, and I will take you—one
from a city and two
from a family—and bring you to
Zion.
In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.
In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together from the land of the north to the land that I gave to your fathers as an inheritance.
But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly
heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away
from me.
Then I said, ‘How I long to make you My sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations!’ I thought you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from following Me.
Surely as a wife
treacherously departeth
from her husband, so have ye dealt
treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.
But as a woman may
betray her husband, so you have
betrayed Me, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD.
Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.
Surely
deception comes
from the hills, and
commotion from the mountains. Surely the salvation of Israel is in the LORD our God.
For shame hath
devoured the labour of our fathers
from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
From our youth, that shameful god has consumed what our fathers have worked for— their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have
sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers,
from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
Let us lie down in our shame; let our disgrace cover us. We have
sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our fathers;
from our youth even to this day we have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”
If thou
wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou
wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
“If you will return, O Israel, return to Me,” declares the LORD. “If you will remove your
detestable idols
from My sight and no longer waver,
Set up the standard toward
Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil
from the north, and a great destruction.
Raise a signal flag toward
Zion. Seek refuge! Do not delay! For I am bringing
disaster from the north, and terrible destruction.
The lion is come up
from his
thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth
from his place to make thy land
desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
A lion has gone up
from his
thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his
lair to lay waste your land. Your cities will be reduced to ruins and lie uninhabited.
So put on
sackcloth,
mourn and
wail, for the fierce anger of the LORD has not turned away
from us.”
At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to
fan, nor to
cleanse,
At that time it will be said to this people and to Jerusalem, “A
searing wind
from the barren heights in the desert blows toward the daughter of My people, but not to
winnow or to
sift;
Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
a wind too strong for that comes
from Me. Now I also
pronounce judgments against them.”
O Jerusalem, wash thine heart
from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts
lodge within thee?
Wash the evil
from your heart, O Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. How long will you
harbor wicked thoughts within you?
For a voice declareth
from Dan, and publisheth
affliction from mount Ephraim.
Make ye mention to the nations; behold,
publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come
from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
Warn the nations now!
Proclaim to Jerusalem: “A
besieging army comes
from a distant land; they raise their voices against the cities of Judah.
For this shall the earth
mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not
repent, neither will I turn back
from it.
Therefore the earth will
mourn and the heavens above will grow dark. I have spoken, I have
planned, and I will not relent or turn back.”
Run ye to and
fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will
pardon it.
“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look now and take note; search her squares. If you can find a single person,
anyone who acts justly,
anyone who seeks the truth, then I will
forgive the city.
Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall
slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall
spoil them, a
leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be
torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.
Therefore a lion
from the forest will strike them down, a wolf
from the desert will
ravage them. A
leopard will lie in wait near their cities, and
everyone who ventures out will be
torn to pieces. For their
