And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them,
Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
“Do You hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “
Yes,” Jesus answered. “Have you never read: ‘
From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise’?”
The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
What was the source of John’s baptism? Was it
from heaven or
from men?” They
deliberated among themselves and said, “If we say, ‘
From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
But if we say, ‘From men,’ we are afraid of the people, for they all regard John as a prophet.”
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

from the Lord, and it is
marvelous in our eyes’?
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

And they sent out unto him their disciples with the
Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are
honest and that You teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You seek favor
from no one, because You pay no attention to external appearance.
And no man was able to answer him a word, neither
durst any man
from that day forth ask him any more questions.

from that day on no one
dared to question Him any further.
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and
crucify; and some of them shall ye
scourge in your synagogues, and
persecute them
from city to city:
Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and
crucify, and others you will
flog in your synagogues and
persecute in town after town.
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth,
from the blood of righteous
Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias son of
Barachias, whom ye
slew between the temple and the altar.
And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth,
from the blood of righteous
Abel to the blood of
Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
For at that time there will be great
tribulation,
unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again.
For as the
lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For just as the
lightning comes
from the east and
flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall
from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be
shaken:
Immediately after the
tribulation of those days: ‘The sun will be
darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall
from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be
shaken.’
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a
trumpet, and they shall gather together his
elect from the four winds,
from one end of heaven to the other.
And He will send out His angels with a loud
trumpet call, and they will gather His
elect from the four winds,
from one end of the heavens to the other.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is
nigh:
Now learn this
lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its branches become tender and
sprout leaves, you know that summer is near.
Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents.

For
everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away
from him.
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one
from another, as a
shepherd divideth his sheep
from the goats:
All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one
from another, as a
shepherd separates the sheep
from the goats.
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world:
Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father,
inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart
from me, ye
cursed, into
everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Then He will say to those on His left, ‘Depart
from Me, you who are
cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink
from it, all of you.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine
from now on until that day when I drink it
anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass
from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou
wilt.
Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
A second time He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”

thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down
from the cross.

veil of the temple was rent in

quake, and the rocks rent;
At that moment the
veil of the temple was
torn in two
from top to bottom. The earth
quaked and the rocks were split.
And many women were there beholding
afar off, which followed Jesus
from Galilee, ministering unto him:

from Arimathea named Joseph, who himself was a disciple of Jesus.
Command therefore that the
sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and
steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen
from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
So give the order that the tomb be secured until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples may come and
steal Him away and tell the people He has risen
from the dead. And this last
deception would be worse than the first.”
And, behold, there was a great
earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended
from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone
from the door, and sat upon it.
Suddenly there was a great
earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended
from heaven, rolled away the stone, and sat on it.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen
from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into
Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has risen
from the dead and is going
ahead of you into
Galilee. There you will see Him.’ See, I have told you.”
And they departed quickly
from the
sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
So they
hurried away
from the tomb in fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.

leprosy departed
from him, and he was
cleansed.
But he went out, and began to
publish it much, and to
blaze abroad the matter,
insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him
from every quarter.
But the man went out and openly began to
proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him
from every quarter.
And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all;
insomuch that they were all
amazed, and
glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
And immediately the man got up,
picked up his mat, and walked out in
front of them all. As a result, they were all
astounded and
glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
But the days will come, when the
bridegroom shall be taken away
from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
But the time will come when the
bridegroom will be taken
from them; then they will fast.
No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
No one sews a
patch of
unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away
from the old, and a worse
tear will result.
But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude
from Galilee followed him, and
from Judaea,
So Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea, accompanied by a large crowd
from Galilee,
Judea,
And
from Jerusalem, and
from Idumaea, and
from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and
Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
Jerusalem,
Idumea, the region beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and
Sidon. The large crowd came to Him when they heard what great things He was doing.
And the
scribes which came down
from Jerusalem said, He hath
Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
And the
scribes who had come down
from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons He drives out demons.”

And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
Jesus went on from there and came to His hometown, accompanied by His disciples.
And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the
synagogue: and many hearing him were
astonished, saying,
From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the
synagogue, and many who heard Him were
astonished. “Where did this man get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom He has been given? And how can He perform such miracles?
And he
marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
And He was

And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen
from the dead, and therefore mighty works do
shew forth themselves in him.
Now King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known, and people were saying, “John the Baptist has risen
from the dead! That is why
miraculous powers are at work in him.”
But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I
beheaded: he is risen
from the dead.
But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I
beheaded, has risen
from the dead!”
And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran
afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.

And when they come
from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots,
brasen vessels, and of tables.
And on returning
from the market, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions for them to observe, including the washing of cups, pitchers, kettles, and couches for
dining.
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far
from me.
Jesus answered them, “Isaiah
prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far
from Me.
But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is
Corban, that is to say, a gift, by
whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
But you say that if a man says to his father or mother, ‘Whatever you would have received
from me is
Corban’ (that is, a gift devoted to God),
There is nothing
from without a man, that entering into him can
defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that
defile the man.
Nothing that enters a man
from the outside can
defile him; but the things that come out of a man, these are what
defile him.”
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
After Jesus had left the crowd and gone into the house, His disciples inquired about the parable.
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that
whatsoever thing
from without entereth into the man, it cannot
defile him;
“Are you still so dull?” He asked. “Do you not understand? Nothing that enters a man
from the outside can
defile him,
For
from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders,
For
from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality,
theft, murder,
adultery,
All these evil things come
from within, and
defile the man.
All these evils come
from within, and these are what
defile a man.”
And
from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and
Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be
hid.
Jesus left that place and went to the region of Tyre. Not wanting
anyone to know He was there, He entered a house, but was unable to escape their notice.
And again, departing
from the coasts of Tyre and
Sidon, he came unto the sea of
Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of
Decapolis.
Then Jesus left the region of Tyre and went through

And he took him aside
from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he
spit, and touched his tongue;

And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will
faint by the way: for
divers of them came
from far.
If I send them home
hungry, they will
faint along the way. For some of them have come a great distance.”
And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
His disciples replied, “Where in this
desolate place could
anyone find enough bread to feed all these people?”
And the
Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign
from heaven,
tempting him.

from Him a sign
from heaven.
And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus
admonished them not to tell
anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen
from the dead.
And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
So they kept this matter to themselves,
discussing what it meant to rise
from the dead.
And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been with him?” “
From childhood,” he said.
And they departed thence, and passed through
Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was
wont, he taught them again.

And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
Many in the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut from the fields.

The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.
John’s baptism—was it from heaven or from men? Answer Me!”
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him?
They
deliberated among themselves what they should answer: “If we say, ‘
From heaven,’ He will ask, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’
But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.
But if we say, ‘From men’...” they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John truly was a prophet.
At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the
vineyard.
This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
This is
from the Lord, and it is
marvelous in our eyes’?”
And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
“Teacher,” they said, “we know that You are
honest and seek favor
from no one. Indeed, You are impartial and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not? Should we pay them or not?”
For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven.
