Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my
firstborn for my
transgression, the
fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Would the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my
firstborn for my
transgression, the
fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer
fruits, as the grapegleanings of the
vintage: there is no
cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe
fruit.
Notwithstanding the land shall be
desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the
fruit of their doings.
Then the earth will become
desolate because of its inhabitants, as the
fruit of their deeds.
Although the fig tree shall not
blossom, neither shall
fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls:
Though the fig tree does not
bud and no
fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls,
Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from
dew, and the earth is stayed from her
fruit.
Therefore, on account of you the heavens have
withheld their
dew and the earth has
withheld its crops.
Is the seed yet in the
barn?
yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the
pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I
bless you.
Is there still seed in the
barn? The vine, the fig, the
pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded
fruit. But from this day on, I will
bless you.”
For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her
fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their
dew; and I will cause the
remnant of this people to possess all these things.
“For the seed will be prosperous, the vine will yield its
fruit, the ground will yield its produce, and the
skies will give their
dew. To the
remnant of this people I will give all these things as an inheritance.
But ye have
profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is
polluted; and the
fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.
“But you
profane it when you say, ‘The table of the Lord is
defiled, and as for its
fruit, its food is contemptible.’
And I will
rebuke the
devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the
fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her
fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
I will
rebuke the
devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the
fruits of your land, and the vine in your field will not fail to produce
fruit,” says the LORD of Hosts.
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good
fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good
fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good
fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
So then, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth
fruit, some an
hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Still other seed fell on good soil and produced a crop—a
hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth
fruit, and bringeth forth, some an
hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
But the seed sown on good soil is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears
fruit and produces a crop—a
hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.”
But when the
blade was sprung up, and brought forth
fruit, then appeared the tares also.
When the wheat
sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared.
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing
thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no
fruit grow on thee
henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree
withered away.
Seeing a fig tree by the road, He went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. “May you never bear
fruit again!” He said. And immediately the tree
withered.
And when the time of the
fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the
husbandmen, that they might receive the
fruits of it.
When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit.
They say unto him, He will
miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his
vineyard unto other
husbandmen, which shall render him the
fruits in their seasons.
“He will bring those wretches to a
wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the
vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the
fruit at harvest time.”
Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
I tell you, I will not drink of this
fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it
anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and
choked it, and it yielded no
fruit.
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and
choked the seedlings, and they yielded no crop.
And other fell on good ground, and did yield
fruit that
sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it
sprouted, grew up, and produced a crop—one bearing thirtyfold, another sixtyfold, and another a
hundredfold.”
And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
Still others are like the seeds sown on good soil. They hear the word, receive it, and produce a crop—thirtyfold, sixtyfold, or a
hundredfold.”
For the earth bringeth forth
fruit of herself; first the
blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
All by itself the earth produces a crop—first the
stalk, then the head, then grain that ripens within.
But when the
fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the
sickle, because the harvest is come.
And as soon as the grain is ripe, he swings the
sickle, because the harvest has come.”
And seeing a fig tree
afar off having leaves, he came, if
haply he might find any thing
thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if there was any fruit on it. But when He reached it, He found nothing on it except leaves, since it was not the season for figs.
And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat
fruit of thee
hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
Then He said to the tree, “May no one ever eat of your fruit again.” And His disciples heard this statement.
At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the
fruit of the
vineyard.
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the
fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
Truly I tell you, I will no longer drink of the
fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it
anew in the kingdom of God.”
And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the
fruit of thy
womb.
In a loud voice she
exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the
fruit of your
womb!
Bring forth therefore
fruits worthy of
repentance, and begin not to say within
yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Produce
fruit, then, in keeping with
repentance. And do not begin to say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good
fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good
fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt
fruit; neither
doth a corrupt tree bring forth good
fruit.
No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.
For every tree is known by his own
fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a
bramble bush gather they grapes.
For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor grapes from brambles.
And other fell on good ground, and
sprang up, and bare
fruit an
hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he
cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it
sprang up and produced a crop—a
hundredfold.” As Jesus said this, He called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are
choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no
fruit to perfection.
The seeds that fell among the thorns are those who hear, but as they go on their way, they are
choked by the
worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and their
fruit does not
mature.
But that on the good ground are they, which in an
honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth
fruit with
patience.
But the seeds on good soil are those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word,
cling to it, and by
persevering produce a crop.
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to
bestow my
fruits?
So he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, since I have nowhere to store my crops?’
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I
bestow all my
fruits and my goods.
Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will
tear down my barns and will build
bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods.
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his
vineyard; and he came and sought
fruit thereon, and found none.
Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his
vineyard. He went to look for
fruit on it, but did not find any.
Then said he unto the dresser of his
vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking
fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
So he said to the keeper of the
vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for
fruit on this fig tree and
haven’t found any. Therefore cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
If it bears fruit next year, fine. But if not, you can cut it down.’”
And at the season he sent a servant to the
husbandmen, that they should give him of the
fruit of the
vineyard: but the
husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.
At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the
fruit of the
vineyard. But the tenants beat the servant and sent him away empty-handed.
For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth
fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may
rejoice together.
Already the
reaper draws his wages and gathers a crop for eternal life, so that the
sower and the
reaper may
rejoice together.
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much
fruit.
Truly, truly, I tell you, unless a
kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much
fruit.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear
fruit of itself, except it
abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye
abide in me.
Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
Herein is my Father
glorified, that ye bear much
fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much
fruit, proving
yourselves to be My disciples.
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth
fruit, and that your
fruit should remain: that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will remain—so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had
sworn with an oath to him, that of the
fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that He would place one of his descendants on his throne.
Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and
fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and
gladness.
Yet He has not left Himself without testimony to His goodness: He gives you rain from heaven and
fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and
gladness.”
Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that
oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some
fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, how often I
planned to come to you (but have been prevented from visiting until now), in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.
What
fruit had ye then in those things
whereof ye are now
ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
What
fruit did you
reap at that time from the things of which you are now
ashamed? The outcome of those things is death.
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your
fruit unto
holiness, and the end
everlasting life.
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the
fruit you
reap leads to
holiness, and the outcome is eternal life.
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
For when we lived according to the flesh, the sinful passions
aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, bearing
fruit for death.
When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
So after I have completed this service and have safely delivered this
bounty to them, I will set off to Spain by way of you.
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a
vineyard, and eateth not of the
fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a
vineyard and does not eat of its
fruit? Who tends a flock and does not drink of its milk?
Now he that ministereth seed to the
sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the
fruits of your righteousness;)
Now He who supplies seed to the
sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness.
But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
And have no
fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Have no
fellowship with the
fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather
expose them.
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
But if I live in the flesh, this is the
fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I
wot not.
But if I go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. So what shall I choose? I do not know.
Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
Not that I am seeking a gift, but I am looking for the fruit that may be credited to your account.
Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth
fruit, as it
doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
The hardworking farmer should be the first to
partake of the crops.
Now no
chastening for the present seemeth to be
joyous, but
grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable
fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields a harvest of righteousness and peace to those who have been trained by it.
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the
fruit of our lips giving
thanks to his name.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the
fruit of lips that
confess His name.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good
fruits, without
partiality, and without
hypocrisy.
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle,
accommodating, full of mercy and good
fruit, impartial, and
sincere.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
Peacemakers who
sow in peace
reap the
fruit of righteousness.
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the
husbandman waiteth for the precious
fruit of the earth, and hath long
patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer awaits the precious fruit of the soil—how patient he is for the fall and spring rains.
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth yielded its crops.
These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose
fruit withereth, without
fruit, twice dead,
plucked up by the roots;
These men are hidden reefs in your love feasts,
shamelessly feasting with you but
shepherding only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried along by the wind;
fruitless trees in autumn, twice dead after being uprooted.
And the
fruits that thy soul
lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were
dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
And they will say: “The
fruit of your soul’s desire has departed from you; all your
luxury and
splendor have
vanished, never to be seen again.”
In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of
fruits, and yielded her
fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the
healing of the nations.
down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of
fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the
healing of the nations.
I divided among you a
fruitful land, I cast out the
Canaanites, the Pherezites, and the Philistines, before you: what shall I yet do more for you? saith the Lord.
And your children shall not be
fruitful; for they have
despised my commandment, and done the thing that is an evil before me.
For thy help will I send my servants
Esau and Jeremy, after whose counsel I have
sanctified and prepared for thee twelve trees
laden with
divers fruits,
And yet tookest thou not away from them a wicked heart, that thy law might bring forth fruit in them.
And yet their reward appeareth not, and their labour hath no fruit: for I have gone here and there through the heathen, and I see that they flow in wealth, and think not upon thy commandments.
Ponder now by
thyself, how great
fruit of wickedness the grain of evil seed hath brought forth.
Did not the souls also of the righteous ask question of these things in their chambers, saying, How long shall I hope on this fashion? when cometh the fruit of the floor of our reward?
As for faith, it shall
flourish, corruption shall be overcome, and the truth, which hath been so long without
fruit, shall be declared.
For immediately there was great and innumerable
fruit, and many and
divers pleasures for the taste, and flowers of unchangeable colour, and odours of wonderful smell: and this was done the third day.
For the entrances of the elder world were wide and sure, and brought
immortal fruit.
And that there should be shewed a
paradise, whose
fruit endureth for ever, wherein is security and medicine, since we shall not enter into it?
O Lord, if thou suffer not thy servant, that we may pray before thee, and thou give us seed unto our heart, and culture to our understanding, that there may come fruit of it; how shall each man live that is corrupt, who beareth the place of a man?
For thou hast commanded out of the parts of the body, that is to say, out of the breasts, milk to be given, which is the fruit of the breasts,
For, behold, I
sow my law in you, and it shall bring
fruit in you, and ye shall be honoured in it for ever.
But our fathers, which received the law, kept it not, and observed not thy ordinances: and though the fruit of thy law did not perish, neither could it, for it was thine;
But if thou sayest unto me, My
lamentation is not like the earth’s, because I have lost the
fruit of my
womb, which I brought forth with pains, and bare with sorrows;
