Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
Then he blessed Joseph and said: “May the
God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the
God who has been my
shepherd all my life to this day,
And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel
bless, saying,
God make thee as Ephraim and as
Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before
Manasseh.
So that day Jacob blessed them and said: “By you shall Israel
pronounce this blessing: ‘May
God make you like Ephraim and
Manasseh.’” So he put Ephraim before
Manasseh.
And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
Then Israel said to Joseph, “Look, I am about to die, but God will be with you and bring you back to the land of your fathers.
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty
God of Jacob; (from thence is the
shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
Yet he
steadied his bow, and his strong arms were tempered by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, in the name of the
Shepherd, the Rock of Israel,
Even by the
God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the
Almighty, who shall
bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the
womb:
by the
God of your father who helps you, and by the
Almighty who blesses you, with blessings of the heavens above, with blessings of the depths below, with blessings of the breasts and
womb.
So shall ye say unto Joseph,
Forgive, I pray thee now, the
trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee,
forgive the
trespass of the servants of the
God of thy father. And Joseph
wept when they spake unto him.
‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I
beg you, please
forgive the
transgression and sin of your brothers, for they did you wrong.’ So now, Joseph, please
forgive the
transgression of the servants of the
God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph
wept.
And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
But Joseph replied, “Do not be afraid. Am I in the place of God?
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
As for you, what you intended against me for evil,
God intended for good, in order to
accomplish a day like this—to preserve the lives of many people.
And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and
God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he
sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will surely visit you and bring you up from this land to the land He promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
And Joseph made the sons of Israel take an oath and said, “God will surely attend to you, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”
But the
midwives feared
God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
The
midwives, however, feared
God and did not do as the king of Egypt had
instructed; they let the boys live.
Therefore
God dealt well with the
midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
So
God was good to the
midwives, and the people multiplied and became even more numerous.
And it came to pass, because the
midwives feared
God, that he made them houses.
And because the
midwives feared
God, He gave them families of their own.
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel
sighed by reason of the
bondage, and they
cried, and their cry came up unto
God by reason of the
bondage.
After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites
groaned and
cried out under their burden of slavery, and their cry for
deliverance from
bondage ascended to
God.
And
God heard their
groaning, and
God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
So
God heard their
groaning, and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
God saw the Israelites and took notice.
Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of
Midian: and he led the flock to the
backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of
God, even to
Horeb.
Meanwhile, Moses was
shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of
Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to
Horeb, the mountain of
God.
And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see,
God called unto him out of the midst of the
bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look,
God called out to him from within the
bush, “Moses, Moses!” “Here I am,” he answered.
And he said, Draw not
nigh hither: put off thy
shoes from off thy feet, for the place
whereon thou standest is holy ground.
“Do not come any closer,”
God said. “Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”
Moreover he said, I am the
God of thy father, the
God of Abraham, the
God of Isaac, and the
God of Jacob. And Moses
hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon
God.
Then He said, “I am the
God of your father, the
God of Abraham, the
God of Isaac, and the
God of Jacob.” At this, Moses
hid his face, for he was afraid to look at
God.
And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
But Moses asked God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a
token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve
God upon this mountain.
“I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.”
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
Then Moses asked God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?”
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
And
God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD
God of your fathers, the
God of Abraham, the
God of Isaac, and the
God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my
memorial unto all generations.
God also told Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the
God of your fathers—the
God of Abraham, the
God of Isaac, and the
God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This is My name
forever, and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.
Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:
Go,
assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The LORD, the
God of your fathers—the
God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—has appeared to me and said: I have surely attended to you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.
And they shall
hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD
God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we
beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our
God.
The elders of Israel will
listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the
God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our
God.’
That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.
“This is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”
And he shall be thy
spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of
God.
He will speak to the people for you. He will be your
spokesman, and it will be as if you were
God to him.
And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an
ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of
God in his hand.
So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a
donkey, and headed back to Egypt. And he took the staff of
God in his hand.
And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of
God, and
kissed him.
Meanwhile, the LORD had said to Aaron, “Go and meet Moses in the wilderness.” So he went and met Moses at the mountain of
God and
kissed him.
And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
After that, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.’”
And they said, The
God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our
God; lest he fall upon us with
pestilence, or with the sword.
“The God of the Hebrews has met with us,” they answered. “Please let us go on a three-day journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to the LORD our God, or He may strike us with plagues or with the sword.”
And the tale of the bricks, which they did make
heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our
God.
But require of them the same
quota of bricks as before; do not reduce it. For they are
lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our
God.’
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
God also told Moses, “I am the LORD.
And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of
God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as
God Almighty, but by My name the LORD I did not make Myself known to them.
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
The LORD answered Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.
And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.
Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the
God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not
listened until now.
And he said, To
morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our
God.
“
Tomorrow,” Pharaoh answered. “May it be as you say,” Moses replied, “so that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our
God.
Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of
God: and Pharaoh’s heart was
hardened, and he
hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.
“This is the finger of
God,” the magicians said to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh’s heart was
hardened, and he would not
listen to them, just as the LORD had said.
And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God within this land.”
And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the
abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our
God: lo, shall we sacrifice the
abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?
But Moses replied, “It would not be right to do that, because the sacrifices we offer to the LORD our
God would be
detestable to the Egyptians. If we offer sacrifices that are
detestable before the Egyptians, will they not stone us?
We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.
We must make a three-day journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as He commands us.”
And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me.
Pharaoh answered, “I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, stand before Pharaoh, and tell him that this is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and
hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.
Pray to the LORD, for there has been enough of
God’s
thunder and
hail. I will let you go; you do not need to stay any longer.”
But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.
But as for you and your officials, I know that you still do not fear the LORD our God.”
And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD
God of the Hebrews, How long
wilt thou refuse to humble
thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, “This is what the LORD, the
God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble
yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.
And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a
snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their
God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?
Pharaoh’s officials asked him, “How long will this man be a
snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the LORD their
God. Do you not yet
realize that Egypt is in ruins?”
And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?
So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship the LORD your God,” he said. “But who exactly will be going?”
Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in
haste; and he said, I have
sinned against the LORD your
God, and against you.
Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “I have
sinned against the LORD your
God and against you.
Now therefore
forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your
God, that he may take away from me this death only.
Now please
forgive my sin once more and appeal to the LORD your
God, that He may remove this death from me.”
And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.
But Moses replied, “You must also provide us with sacrifices and burnt offerings to present to the LORD our God.
Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an
hoof be left behind; for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our
God; and we know not with what we must serve the LORD, until we come thither.
Even our
livestock must go with us; not a
hoof will be left behind, for we will need some of them to worship the LORD our
God, and we will not know how we are to worship the LORD until we arrive.”
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will
smite all the
firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the
gods of Egypt I will
execute judgment: I am the LORD.
On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every
firstborn male, both man and beast, and I will
execute judgment against all the
gods of Egypt. I am the LORD.
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that
God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for
God said, Lest
peradventure the people
repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them along the road through the land of the Philistines, though it was shorter. For God said, “If the people face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.”
But
God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up
harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
So
God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the Israelites left the land of Egypt
arrayed for battle.
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly
sworn the children of Israel, saying,
God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the sons of Israel
swear a solemn oath when he said, “
God will surely attend to you, and then you must carry my bones with you from this place.”
And the angel of
God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the
pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
And the angel of
God, who had gone before the camp of Israel, withdrew and went behind them. The
pillar of cloud also moved from before them and stood behind them,
The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my
God, and I will prepare him an
habitation; my father’s
God, and I will
exalt him.
The LORD is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. He is my
God, and I will praise Him, my father’s
God, and I will
exalt Him.
Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the
gods? who is like thee, glorious in
holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Who among the
gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You—
majestic in
holiness,
revered with praises, performing wonders?
And said, If thou
wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy
God, and
wilt do that which is right in his sight, and
wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
saying, “If you will
listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your
God, and do what is right in His eyes, and pay attention to His commands, and keep all His statutes, then I will not bring on you any of the diseases I inflicted on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”
And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
“If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt!” they said. “There we sat by pots of meat and
ate our fill of bread, but you have brought us into this desert to
starve this whole assembly to death!”
I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
“I have heard the
grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At
twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your
God.’”
And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to
morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of
God in mine hand.
So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the
Amalekites.
Tomorrow I will stand on the
hilltop with the staff of
God in my hand.”
When Jethro, the priest of
Midian, Moses’ father in law, heard of all that
God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;
Now Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, the priest of
Midian, heard about all that
God had done for Moses and His people Israel, and how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.
And the name of the other was
Eliezer; for the
God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:
The other son was named
Eliezer, for Moses had said, “The
God of my father was my helper and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh.”
And Jethro, Moses’ father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he
encamped at the mount of
God:
Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, along with Moses’ wife and sons, came to him in the desert, where he was
encamped at the mountain of
God.
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other
gods, for He did this when they treated Israel with
arrogance.”
And Jethro, Moses’ father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses’ father in law before God.
Then Moses’ father-in-law Jethro brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law in the presence of God.
And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to
enquire of
God:
“Because the people come to me to inquire of God,” Moses replied.
When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.
“Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me to judge between one man and another, and I make known to them the statutes and laws of God.”
Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and
God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to
God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto
God:
Now
listen to me; I will give you some advice, and may
God be with you. You must be the people’s representative before
God and bring their causes to Him.
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear
God, men of truth,
hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of
fifties, and rulers of tens:
If thou shalt do this thing, and
God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to
endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
If you follow this advice and
God so directs you, then you will be able to
endure, and all these people can go home in peace.”
And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, “This is what you are to tell the house of Jacob and explain to the sons of Israel:
And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with
God; and they stood at the
nether part of the mount.
Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
And when the voice of the
trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and
God answered him by a voice.
And as the sound of the ram’s horn grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and
God answered him in the
thunder.
And God spake all these words, saying,
And God spoke all these words:
I am the LORD thy
God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of
bondage.
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
You shall have no other gods before Me.
Thou shalt not bow down
thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy
God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that
hate me;
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your
God, am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who
hate Me,
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
You shall not take the name of the LORD your
God in vain, for the LORD will not leave
anyone unpunished who takes His name in vain.
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy
God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your
God, on which you must not do any work—neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your
manservant or
maidservant or
livestock, nor the foreigner within your gates.
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
“Speak to us
yourself and we will
listen,” they said to Moses. “But do not let
God speak to us, or we will die.”
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
“Do not be afraid,” Moses replied. “For
God has come to test you, so that the fear of Him may be before you, to keep you from
sinning.”
And the people stood
afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where
God was.
And the people stood at a distance as Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
You are not to make any
gods alongside Me; you are not to make for
yourselves gods of silver or gold.
And if a man lie not in wait, but
God deliver him into his hand; then I will
appoint thee a place
whither he shall
flee.
If, however, he did not lie in wait, but
God allowed it to happen, then I will
appoint for you a place where he may
flee.
He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
If
anyone sacrifices to any
god other than the LORD alone, he must be set apart for destruction.
Thou shalt not
revile the
gods, nor
curse the ruler of thy people.
And in all things that I have said unto you be
circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other
gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Pay close attention to everything I have said to you. You must not
invoke the names of other
gods; they must not be heard on your lips.
Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord GOD.
Three times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord GOD.
The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the LORD thy
God. Thou shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your
God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.
You must not bow down to their
gods or serve them or follow their practices. Instead, you are to
demolish them and
smash their sacred stones to pieces.
And ye shall serve the LORD your
God, and he shall
bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
So you shall serve the LORD your
God, and He will
bless your bread and your water. And I will take away sickness from among you.
Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.
You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.
