Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
I wish that all men were as I am. But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under
bondage in such cases: but
God hath called us to peace.
But if the unbeliever leaves, let him go. The believing brother or sister is not bound in such cases. God has called you to live in peace.
But as
God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so
ordain I in all churches.
Regardless, each one should lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and to which
God has called him. This is what I
prescribe in all the churches.
Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein
abide with
God.
Brothers, each one should remain in the situation he was in when God called him.
But she is happier if she so
abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of
God.
In my judgment, however, she is happier if she remains as she is. And I think that I too have the Spirit of God.
But if any man love God, the same is known of him.
But the one who loves God is known by God.
As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an
idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other
God but one.
So about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that an
idol is nothing at all in the world, and that there is no
God but one.
For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many so-called gods and lords),
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist.
But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
But food does not bring us closer to God: We are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not
muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn.
Doth God take care for oxen?
For it is written in the Law of Moses: “Do not
muzzle an ox while it is
treading out the grain.” Is it about oxen that
God is concerned?
To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
To those without the law I became like one without the law (though I am not outside the law of
God but am under the law of Christ), to
win those without the law.
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the wilderness.
There hath no
temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but
God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be
tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
No
temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And
God is faithful; He will not let you be
tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are
tempted, He will also provide an escape, so that you can stand up under it.
But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to
God: and I would not that ye should have
fellowship with devils.
No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God. And I do not want you to be participants with demons.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or
whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of
God.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
Do not become a
stumbling block, whether to Jews or Greeks or the church of
God—
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
For a man indeed ought not to cover his head,
forasmuch as he is the image and glory of
God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.
For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
For just as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
Judge in
yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto
God uncovered?
Judge for
yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to
God with her head uncovered?
But if any man seem to be
contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of
God.
If
anyone is inclined to dispute this, we have no other practice, nor do the churches of
God.
What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or
despise ye the church of
God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
Don’t you have your own homes in which to eat and drink? Or do you
despise the church of
God and
humiliate those who have nothing? What can I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? No, I will not!
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of
God calleth Jesus
accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
Therefore I inform you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of
God says, “Jesus be
cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
And there are
diversities of operations, but it is the same
God which worketh all in all.
There are different ways of working, but the same God works all things in all people.
But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
But in fact, God has arranged the members of the body, every one of them, according to His design.
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God has composed the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
And
God hath set some in the church, first apostles,
secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments,
diversities of tongues.
And in the church
God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of
healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto
God: for no man understandeth him;
howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit.
I
thank my
God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
I
thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.
And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
and the secrets of his heart will be made known. So he will fall facedown and worship
God,
proclaiming, “
God is truly among you!”
But if there be no
interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to
God.
But if there is no
interpreter, he should remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and
God.
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace—as in all the churches of the saints.
What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
Did the word of
God originate with you? Or are you the only ones it has reached?
For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I
persecuted the church of
God.
For I am the least of the apostles and am unworthy to be called an apostle, because I
persecuted the church of
God.
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
Yea, and we are found false witnesses of
God; because we have
testified of
God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
In that case, we are also exposed as false witnesses about
God. For we have
testified about
God that He raised Christ from the dead, but He did not raise Him if in fact the dead are not raised.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.
For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
For “God has put everything under His feet.” Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him.
And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of
God: I speak this to your shame.
Sober up as you ought, and stop
sinning; for some of you are ignorant of
God. I say this to your shame.
But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
But God gives it a body as He has designed, and to each kind of seed He gives its own body.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of
God; neither
doth corruption
inherit incorruption.
Now I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of
God, nor does the perishable
inherit the imperishable.
But
thanks be to
God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
But
thanks be to
God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as
God hath
prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of
God, and
Timothy our brother, unto the church of
God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all
Achaia:
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of
God, and
Timothy our brother, To the church of
God in Corinth, together with all the saints throughout
Achaia:
Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be
God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
mercies, and the
God of all comfort;
Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the
God of all comfort,
Who comforteth us in all our
tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of
God.
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
Indeed, we felt we were under the sentence of death, in order that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God, who raises the dead.
For our
rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and
godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of
God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
And this is our
boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in relation to you, in the
holiness and
sincerity that are from
God—not in worldly wisdom, but in the grace of
God.
But as
God is true, our word toward you was not
yea and
nay.
But as surely as
God is faithful, our message to you is not “
Yes” and “No.”
For the Son of
God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and
Silvanus and
Timotheus, was not
yea and
nay, but in him was
yea.
For the Son of
God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed among you by me and
Silvanus and
Timothy, was not “
Yes” and “No,” but in Him it has always been “
Yes.”
For all the promises of
God in him are
yea, and in him
Amen, unto the glory of
God by us.
For all the promises of
God are “
Yes” in Christ. And so through Him, our “
Amen” is spoken to the glory of
God.
Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath
anointed us, is
God;
Now it is
God who establishes both us and you in Christ. He
anointed us,
Moreover I call
God for a record upon my soul, that to
spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.
I call
God as my witness that it was in order to
spare you that I did not return to Corinth.
Now
thanks be unto
God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
For we are to
God the sweet
aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of
God: but as of
sincerity, but as of
God, in the sight of
God speak we in Christ.
For we are not like so many others, who
peddle the word of
God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before
God with
sincerity, as men sent from
God.
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living
God; not in tables of stone, but in
fleshy tables of the heart.
It is clear that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
Such confidence before God is ours through Christ.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our
sufficiency is of
God;
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim that anything comes from us, but our
competence comes from
God.
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we
faint not;
Therefore, since God in His mercy has given us this ministry, we do not lose heart.
Instead, we have
renounced secret and shameful ways. We do not practice
deceit, nor do we
distort the word of
God. On the contrary, by open
proclamation of the truth, we
commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of
God.
In whom the
god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of
God, should
shine unto them.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
For
God, who commanded the light to
shine out of darkness, hath
shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Jesus Christ.
For
God, who said, “Let light
shine out of darkness,” made His light
shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Now we have this
treasure in jars of clay to show that this
surpassingly great power is from
God and not from us.
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the
thanksgiving of many
redound to the glory of
God.
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is extending to more and more people may overflow in
thanksgiving, to the glory of
God.
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is
dismantled, we have a building from
God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
Now he that hath wrought us for the
selfsame thing is
God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
And
God has prepared us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a
pledge of what is to come.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we
persuade men; but we are made manifest unto
God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to
persuade men. What we are is clear to
God, and I hope it is clear to your conscience as well.
For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to
God: or whether we be
sober, it is for your cause.
If we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you.
And all things are of
God, who hath
reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation;
To wit, that
God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of
reconciliation.
that
God was
reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of
reconciliation.
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though
God did
beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s
stead, be ye
reconciled to
God.
Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though
God were making His appeal through us. We
implore you on behalf of Christ: Be
reconciled to
God.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
God made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
We then, as workers together with him,
beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of
God in vain.
As
God’s fellow workers, then, we
urge you not to receive
God’s grace in vain.
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
Having therefore these promises,
dearly beloved, let us
cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
holiness in the fear of
God.
Therefore, beloved, since we have these promises, let us
cleanse ourselves from everything that defiles body and spirit, perfecting
holiness in the fear of
God.
Nevertheless
God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of
Titus;
But
God, who comforts the
downcast, comforted us by the arrival of
Titus,
Now I
rejoice, not that ye were made
sorry, but that ye sorrowed to
repentance: for ye were made
sorry after a
godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
And now I
rejoice, not because you were made sorrowful, but because your sorrow led you to
repentance. For you felt the sorrow that
God had intended, and so were not
harmed in any way by us.
For
godly sorrow worketh
repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Godly sorrow brings
repentance that leads to salvation without
regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
For behold this
selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a
godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you,
yea, what clearing of
yourselves,
yea, what
indignation,
yea, what fear,
yea, what
vehement desire,
yea, what zeal,
yea, what
revenge! In all things ye have approved
yourselves to be clear in this matter.
Consider what this
godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear
yourselves, what
indignation, what
alarm, what longing, what zeal, what
vindication! In every way you have proved
yourselves to be innocent in this matter.
Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
So even though I wrote to you, it was not on account of the one who did wrong or the one who was
harmed, but rather that your earnestness on our behalf would be made clear to you in the sight of
God.
Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of
God bestowed on the churches of
Macedonia;
Now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that
God has given the churches of
Macedonia.
And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own
selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of
God.
And not only did they do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us, because it was the will of God.
But
thanks be to
God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of
Titus for you.
But
thanks be to
God, who put into the heart of
Titus the same devotion I have for you.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not
grudgingly, or of necessity: for
God loveth a
cheerful giver.
Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of
regret or
compulsion. For
God loves a
cheerful giver.
And
God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion, so that through us your giving will produce
thanksgiving to
God.
For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
For this ministry of service is not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many expressions of
thanksgiving to
God.
Whiles by the experiment of this
ministration they
glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
Because of the proof this ministry provides, the saints will
glorify God for your
obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for the
generosity of your contribution to them and to all the others.
And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
And their prayers for you will express their affection for you, because of the
surpassing grace
God has given you.
Thanks be unto
God for his unspeakable gift.
Thanks be to
God for His indescribable gift!
(For the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal, but mighty through
God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
The weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to
demolish strongholds.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
But we will not
boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which
God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.
We, however, will not
boast beyond our limits, but only within the field of influence that
God has assigned to us—a field that reaches even to you.
