And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it
budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe
grapes:
and on the vine were three branches. As it
budded, its blossoms opened and its clusters
ripened into
grapes.
And Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.
Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the
grapes,
squeezed them into his cup, and placed the cup in his hand.”
Binding his
foal unto the vine, and his
ass’s
colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of
grapes:
He
ties his
donkey to the vine, his
colt to the choicest branch. He washes his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of
grapes.
And thou shalt not
glean thy
vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every
grape of thy
vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
You must not strip your
vineyard bare or gather its fallen
grapes. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the LORD your God.
That which groweth of its own
accord of thy harvest thou shalt not
reap, neither gather the
grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.
You are not to
reap the
aftergrowth of your harvest or gather the
grapes of your untended vines. The land must have a year of complete rest.
A jubile shall that
fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not
sow, neither
reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the
grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
And your
threshing shall reach unto the
vintage, and the
vintage shall reach unto the
sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
Your
threshing will continue until the
grape harvest, and the
grape harvest will continue until
sowing time; you will have your fill of food to eat and will dwell securely in your land.
He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no
vinegar of wine, or
vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of
grapes, nor eat moist
grapes, or dried.
he is to
abstain from wine and strong drink. He must not drink
vinegar made from wine or strong drink, and he must not drink any
grape juice or eat fresh
grapes or
raisins.
All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the
husk.
All the days of his separation, he is not to eat anything that comes from the
grapevine, not even the seeds or skins.
And what the land is, whether it be fat or
lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe
grapes.
Is the soil fertile or unproductive? Are there trees in it or not? Be
courageous, and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe
grapes.)
And they came unto the
brook of
Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one
cluster of
grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
When they came to the Valley of
Eshcol, they cut down a branch with a single
cluster of
grapes, which they carried on a pole between two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.
The place was called the
brook Eshcol, because of the
cluster of
grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
Because of the
cluster of
grapes the Israelites cut there, that place was called the Valley of
Eshcol.
When thou comest into thy neighbour’s
vineyard, then thou mayest eat
grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel.
When you enter your
neighbor’s
vineyard, you may eat your fill of
grapes, but you must not put any in your
basket.
When thou gatherest the
grapes of thy
vineyard, thou shalt not
glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
When you gather the
grapes of your
vineyard, you must not go over the vines again. What remains will be for the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow.
Thou shalt
betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a
vineyard, and shalt not gather the
grapes thereof.
You will be
pledged in marriage to a woman, but another man will
violate her. You will build a house but will not live in it. You will plant a
vineyard but will not enjoy its fruit.
Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
You will plant and
cultivate vineyards, but will neither drink the wine nor gather the
grapes, because worms will eat them.
Butter of
kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of
Bashan, and goats, with the fat of
kidneys of wheat; and thou
didst drink the pure blood of the
grape.
with curds from the
herd and milk from the flock, with the fat of lambs, with rams from
Bashan, and goats, with the choicest grains of wheat. From the juice of the finest
grapes you
drank the wine.
For their vine is of the vine of
Sodom, and of the fields of
Gomorrah: their
grapes are
grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
But their vine is from the vine of
Sodom and from the fields of
Gomorrah. Their
grapes are poisonous; their clusters are bitter.
And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the
gleaning of the
grapes of Ephraim better than the
vintage of Abi-ezer?
But
Gideon answered them, “Now what have I accomplished compared to you? Are not the gleanings of Ephraim better than the
grape harvest of Abiezer?
Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us.
Then the trees said to the
grapevine, ‘Come and reign over us.’
And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?
But the
grapevine replied, ‘Should I stop giving my wine that cheers both God and man, to hold
sway over the trees?’
And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and
trode the
grapes, and made
merry, and went into the house of their god, and did eat and drink, and
cursed Abimelech.
And after they had gone out into the fields, gathered
grapes from their vineyards, and
trodden them, they held a festival and went into the house of their god; and as they
ate and
drank, they
cursed Abimelech.
And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
He will take a tenth of your grain and grape harvest and give it to his officials and servants.
In those days saw I in Judah some
treading winepresses on the sabbath, and bringing in
sheaves, and
lading asses; as also wine,
grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I
testified against them in the day wherein they sold
victuals.
In those days I saw people in Judah
treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in grain and loading it on
donkeys, along with wine,
grapes, and figs. All kinds of goods were being brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. So I
warned them against selling food on that day.
He shall
shake off his unripe
grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
He will be like a vine
stripped of its unripe
grapes, like an olive tree that sheds its blossoms.
The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
The fig tree ripens its figs; the
blossoming vines spread their
fragrance. Arise, come away, my
darling; come away with me, my beautiful one.”
Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that
spoil the vines: for our vines have tender
grapes.
Catch for us the foxes— the little foxes that ruin the vineyards— for our vineyards are in
bloom.
This thy
stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of
grapes.
Your
stature is like a palm tree; your breasts are clusters of fruit.
Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine
flourish, whether the tender
grape appear, and the pomegranates
bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.
Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vine has
budded, if the
blossom has opened, if the pomegranates are in
bloom— there I will give you my love.
And he
fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth
grapes, and it brought forth wild
grapes.
He
dug it up and cleared the stones and planted the finest vines. He built a
watchtower in the middle and
dug out a winepress as well. He waited for the
vineyard to yield good
grapes, but the fruit it produced was
sour!
What could have been done more to my
vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth
grapes, brought it forth wild
grapes?
What more could I have done for My
vineyard than I already did for it? Why, when I expected sweet
grapes, did it bring forth
sour fruit?
For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they
wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
For the fields of
Heshbon have
withered, along with the
grapevines of Sibmah. The rulers of the nations have
trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
And
gladness is taken away, and joy out of the
plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be
shouting: the treaders shall
tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their
vintage shouting to cease.
Joy and
gladness are removed from the
orchard; no one sings or shouts in the vineyards. No one tramples the
grapes in the winepresses; I have put an end to the
cheering.
Yet
gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the
shaking of an olive tree, two or three
berries in the top of the
uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.
Yet gleanings will remain, like an olive tree that has been beaten— two or three
berries atop the tree, four or five on its fruitful branches,” declares the LORD, the God of Israel.
For
afore the harvest, when the
bud is perfect, and the
sour grape is
ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruninghooks, and take away and cut down the branches.
For before the harvest, when the
blossom is gone and the flower becomes a
ripening grape, He will cut off the shoots with a
pruning knife and remove and discard the branches.
When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the
shaking of an olive tree, and as the
gleaning grapes when the
vintage is done.
So will it be on the earth and among the nations, like a harvested olive tree, like a
gleaning after a
grape harvest.
Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the
vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.
In a little more than a year you will
tremble, O secure ones. For the
grape harvest will fail and the fruit harvest will not arrive.
But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my
holiness.
For those who harvest grain will eat it and praise the LORD, and those who gather grapes will drink the wine in My holy courts.”
Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the
cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
This is what the LORD says: “As the new wine is found in a
cluster of
grapes, and men say, ‘Do not destroy it, for it contains a blessing,’ so I will act on behalf of My servants; I will not destroy them all.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly
glean the
remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a
grapegatherer into the baskets.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “
Glean the
remnant of Israel as thoroughly as a vine. Pass your hand once more like a
grape gatherer over the branches.”
I will surely
consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no
grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall
fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.
I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the tree, and even the leaf will wither. Whatever I have given them will be lost to them.”
Therefore
prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall
roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy
habitation; he shall
mightily roar upon his
habitation; he shall give a
shout, as they that
tread the
grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
So you are to
prophesy all these words against them and say to them: ‘The LORD will
roar from on high; He will raise His voice from His holy
habitation. He will
roar loudly over His pasture; like those who
tread the
grapes, He will call out with a
shout against all the inhabitants of the earth.
In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a
sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.
“In those days, it will no longer be said: ‘The fathers have eaten
sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge.’
But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the
sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Instead, each will die for his own iniquity. If
anyone eats the
sour grapes, his own teeth will be set on edge.
As for me, behold, I will dwell at
Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
As for me, I will stay in
Mizpah to represent you before the Chaldeans who come to us. As for you, gather wine
grapes, summer fruit, and oil, place them in your
storage jars, and live in the cities you have taken.”
Even all the Jews returned out of all places
whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto
Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
they all returned from all the places to which they had been banished and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at
Mizpah. And they gathered an abundance of wine
grapes and summer fruit.
O vine of Sibmah, I will
weep for thee with the
weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the
spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy
vintage.
I will
weep for you, O vine of Sibmah, more than I
weep for Jazer. Your tendrils have extended to the sea; they reach even to Jazer. The destroyer has descended on your summer fruit and
grape harvest.
If
grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave some
gleaning grapes? if
thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough.
If
grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleanings? Were
thieves to come in the night, would they not
steal only what they wanted?
The Lord hath
trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to
crush my young men: the Lord hath
trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
The Lord has rejected all the mighty men in my midst; He has summoned an army against me to
crush my young warriors. Like
grapes in a winepress, the Lord has
trampled the Virgin Daughter of Judah.
What mean ye, that ye use this
proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten
sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?
“What do you people mean by
quoting this
proverb about the land of Israel: ‘The fathers have eaten
sour grapes, and the teeth of the children are set on edge’?
I found Israel like
grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to
Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
I found Israel like
grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the firstfruits of the fig tree in its first season. But they went to
Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves to Shame; so they became as
detestable as the thing they loved.
He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
It has laid waste My
grapevine and
splintered My fig tree. It has
stripped off the bark and thrown it away; the branches have turned white.
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the
pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are
withered: because joy is
withered away from the sons of men.
Put ye in the
sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
Swing the
sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come,
trample the
grapes, for the winepress is full; the wine vats overflow because their wickedness is great.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the
plowman shall overtake the
reaper, and the
treader of
grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall
melt.
“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the
plowman will overtake the
reaper and the
treader of
grapes, the
sower of seed. The mountains will
drip with sweet wine, with which all the hills will flow.
If
thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have
stolen till they had enough? if the
grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some
grapes?
“If
thieves came to you, if robbers by night— oh, how you will be ruined— would they not
steal only what they wanted? If
grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleanings?
Thou shalt
sow, but thou shalt not
reap; thou shalt
tread the olives, but thou shalt not
anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.
Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the
grapegleanings of the
vintage: there is no
cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a
bramble bush gather they
grapes.
For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor grapes from brambles.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive
berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
My brothers, can a fig tree grow olives, or a
grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and
cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp
sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp
sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her
grapes are fully ripe.
Still another angel, with authority over the fire, came from the altar and called out in a loud voice to the angel with the sharp
sickle, “
Swing your sharp
sickle and gather the clusters of
grapes from the vine of the earth, because its
grapes are ripe.”
And the angel thrust in his
sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
So the angel
swung his
sickle over the earth and gathered the
grapes of the earth, and he threw them into the great winepress of God’s wrath.
And I saw, and
spared it greatly, and have kept me a
grape of the
cluster, and a plant of a great people.
Let the multitude perish then, which was born in vain; and let my grape be kept, and my plant; for with great labour have I made it perfect.
The
grapes shall
ripen, and who shall
tread them? for all places shall be
desolate of men:
He that soweth, as if he should not
reap: so also he that planteth the
vineyard, as he that shall not gather the
grapes:
I
awaked up last of all, as one that gathereth after the
grapegatherers: by the blessing of the Lord I profited, and tred my winepress like a gatherer of
grapes.
The principal things for the whole use of man’s life are water, fire, iron, and salt, flour of wheat, honey, milk, and the blood of the grape, and oil, and clothing.
He stretched out his hand to the cup, and poured of the blood of the grape, he poured out at the foot of the altar a sweetsmelling savour unto the most high King of all.
Even from the flower till the grape was ripe hath my heart delighted in her: my foot went the right way, from my youth up sought I after her.
And to the end they might
provoke the elephants to fight, they shewed them the blood of
grapes and
mulberries.
