Belshazzar the king made a
great feast to a thousand of his lords, and
drank wine before the thousand.
Later, King
Belshazzar held a
great feast for a thousand of his nobles, and he
drank wine with them.
Then was king
Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were
astonied.
O thou king, the most high God gave
Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
As for you, O king, the Most High God gave your father
Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and
greatness, glory and honor.
And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages,
trembled and feared before him: whom he would he
slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
Because of the
greatness that He bestowed on him, the people of every nation and language
trembled in fear before him. He killed whom he wished and kept alive whom he wished; he
exalted whom he wished and humbled whom he wished.
Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven
strove upon the
great sea.
Daniel declared: “In my vision in the night I looked, and suddenly the four winds of heaven were
churning up the
great sea.
And four
great beasts came up from the sea,
diverse one from another.
Then four great beasts came up out of the sea, each one different from the others:
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast,
dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had
great iron teeth: it
devoured and
brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was
diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
After this, as I watched in my vision in the night, suddenly a fourth beast appeared, and it was
terrifying—
dreadful and extremely strong—with large iron teeth. It
devoured and
crushed; then it
trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the beasts before it, and it had ten horns.
I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns
plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking
great things.
While I was
contemplating the horns, suddenly another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like those of a man and a mouth that spoke words of
arrogance.
I
beheld then because of the voice of the
great words which the horn spake: I
beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Then I kept watching because of the
arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued to watch, the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and thrown into the
blazing fire.
These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
‘These four great beasts are four kings who will arise from the earth.
And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very
great things, whose look was more
stout than his fellows.
I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the horn whose appearance was more imposing than the others, with eyes and with a mouth that spoke words of
arrogance.
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
He will speak out against the Most High and
oppress the saints of the Most High, intending to change the appointed times and laws; and the saints will be given into his hand for a time, and times, and half a time.
And the kingdom and dominion, and the
greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an
everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
Then the sovereignty, dominion, and
greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom will be an
everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and obey Him.’
Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
Thus ends the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me greatly, and my face turned pale. But I kept the matter to myself.”
I saw the ram
pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became
great.
I saw the ram charging toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against him, and there was no
deliverance from his power. He did as he pleased and became
great.
Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
Thus the goat became very great, but at the height of his power, his large horn was broken off, and four prominent horns came up in its place, pointing toward the four winds of heaven.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
From one of these horns a little horn
emerged and grew extensively toward the south and the east and toward the Beautiful Land.
And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
It grew as high as the host of heaven, and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the earth, and
trampled them.
And the rough goat is the king of
Grecia: and the
great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.
The
shaggy goat represents the king of Greece, and the large horn between his eyes is the first king.
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall
prosper, and
practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
His power will be great, but it will not be his own. He will cause terrible destruction and succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men along with the holy people.
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to
prosper in his hand; and he shall
magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Through his craft and by his hand, he will cause
deceit to
prosper, and in his own mind he will make himself
great. In a time of peace he will destroy many, and he will even stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be broken off, but not by human hands.
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the
great and
dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
And I prayed to the LORD my God and
confessed, “O, Lord, the
great and
awesome God, who keeps His covenant of loving devotion to those who love Him and keep His commandments,
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
You have carried out the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a
great disaster. For under all of heaven, nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
O my God,
incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy
great mercies.
Incline Your ear, O my God, and hear; open Your eyes and see the
desolation of the city that bears Your name. For we are not presenting our petitions before You because of our righteous acts, but because of Your
great compassion.
At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to
shew thee; for thou art
greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
At the beginning of your petitions, an answer went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are highly precious. So consider the message and understand the vision:
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a message was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, and it concerned a great conflict. And the understanding of the message was given to him in a vision.
And in the four and
twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the
great river, which is
Hiddekel;
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the
great river, the
Tigris,
And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a
great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men with me did not see it, but a
great terror fell upon them, and they ran and
hid themselves.
Therefore I was left alone, and saw this
great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my
comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
So I was left alone,
gazing at this
great vision. No strength remained in me; my face grew deathly pale, and I was powerless.
And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man
greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood
trembling.
He said to me, “Daniel, you are a man who is highly precious. Consider carefully the words that I am about to say to you. Stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he had said this to me, I stood up
trembling.
And said, O man
greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong,
yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
“Do not be afraid, you who are highly precious,” he said. “Peace be with you! Be strong now; be very strong!” As he spoke with me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”
And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
Then a mighty king will arise, who will rule with great authority and do as he pleases.
And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
The king of the South will grow strong, but one of his commanders will grow even stronger and will rule his own kingdom with great authority.
But his sons shall be
stirred up, and shall
assemble a multitude of
great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be
stirred up, even to his fortress.
And the king of the south shall be moved with
choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a
great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
In a
rage, the king of the South will march out to fight the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be delivered into the hand of his enemy.
For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.
For the king of the North will raise another army, larger than the first, and after some years he will advance with a great army and many supplies.
And he shall
stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a
great army; and the king of the south shall be
stirred up to battle with a very
great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall
forecast devices against him.
And with a large army he will
stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South, who will
mobilize a very large and powerful army but will not
withstand the plots devised against him.
Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.
The king of the North will return to his land with great wealth, but his heart will be set against the holy covenant; so he will do damage and return to his own land.
Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
He will attack the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him, making them rulers over many and distributing the land for a price.
But
tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with
great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
But news from the east and the north will
alarm him, and he will go out with
great fury to destroy many and
devote them to destruction.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
“At that time Michael, the
great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your people—
everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
The beginning of the word of the LORD by
Hosea. And the LORD said to
Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed
great whoredom, departing from the LORD.
Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and
appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for
great shall be the day of
Jezreel.
Then the people of Judah and of Israel will be gathered together, and they will
appoint for themselves one leader, and will go up out of the land. For
great will be the day of
Jezreel.
When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not
heal you, nor cure you of your wound.
When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, then Ephraim turned to Assyria and sent to the
great king. But he cannot cure you or
heal your wound.
I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.
Though I wrote for them the great things of My law, they regarded them as something strange.
The days of
visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a
fool, the spiritual man is
mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the
great hatred.
The days of punishment have come; the days of
retribution have arrived— let Israel know it. The prophet is called a
fool, and the inspired man
insane, because of the
greatness of your iniquity and hostility.
It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be
ashamed of his own counsel.
Yes, it will be carried to Assyria as tribute to the
great king. Ephraim will be seized with shame; Israel will be
ashamed of its wooden idols.
So shall
Bethel do unto you because of your
great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
Thus it will be done to you, O
Bethel, because of your
great wickedness. When the day dawns, the king of Israel will be utterly cut off.
I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of
great drought.
I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of
drought.
For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the
cheek teeth of a
great lion.
For a nation has invaded My land, powerful and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and its fangs are the fangs of a
lioness.
A day of darkness and of
gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a
great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
a day of darkness and
gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like the
dawn overspreading the mountains a
great and strong army appears, such as never was of old, nor will ever be in ages to come.
And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very
great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is
great and very terrible; and who can
abide it?
The LORD raises His voice in the presence of His army. Indeed, His camp is very large, for mighty are those who obey His command. For the Day of the LORD is
great and very
dreadful. Who can
endure it?
And
rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is
gracious and
merciful, slow to anger, and of
great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
So
rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God. For He is
gracious and
compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion. And He relents from sending
disaster.
But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and
desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his
stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done
great things.
The northern army I will drive away from you,
banishing it to a barren and
desolate land, its front ranks into the Eastern Sea, and its rear guard into the Western Sea. And its
stench will rise; its foul
odor will
ascend. For He has done
great things.
Fear not, O land; be
glad and
rejoice: for the LORD will do
great things.
Do not be afraid, O land;
rejoice and be
glad, for the LORD has done
great things.
And I will restore to you the years that the
locust hath eaten, the
cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the
palmerworm, my
great army which I sent among you.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the
great and
awesome Day of the LORD.
Put ye in the
sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is
great.
Swing the
sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come,
trample the grapes, for the winepress is full; the wine vats overflow because their wickedness is
great.
Publish in the palaces at
Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say,
Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the
great tumults in the midst thereof, and the
oppressed in the midst thereof.
Proclaim to the citadels of
Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “
Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the
great unrest in the city and the acts of oppression in her midst.”
And I will
smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the
great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
I will
tear down the winter house along with the summer house; the houses of ivory will also perish, and the
great houses will come to an end,” declares the LORD.
Pass ye unto
Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to
Hamath the
great: then go down to
Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border
greater than your border?
Cross over to
Calneh and see; go from there to the
great Hamath; then go down to
Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Is their territory larger than yours?
For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will
smite the
great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
For the LORD gives a command: “The
great house will be
smashed to pieces, and the small house to
rubble.”
Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to
contend by fire, and it
devoured the
great deep, and did eat up a part.
This is what the Lord GOD showed me: The Lord GOD was calling for judgment by fire. It consumed the
great deep and
devoured the land.
Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the
ephah small, and the
shekel great, and
falsifying the balances by
deceit?
asking, “When will the New Moon be over, that we may sell grain? When will the Sabbath end, that we may market wheat? Let us reduce the
ephah and increase the
shekel; let us
cheat with
dishonest scales.
Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art
greatly despised.
“Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you will be deeply
despised.
Arise, go to
Nineveh, that
great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
“Get up! Go to the
great city of
Nineveh and
preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before Me.”
But the LORD sent out a
great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty
tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.
Then the LORD
hurled a
great wind upon the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship was in danger of breaking apart.
And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this
great tempest is upon you.
“
Pick me up,” he answered, “and cast me into the sea, so it may quiet down for you. For I know that I am to
blame for this violent storm that has come upon you.”
Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
Then the men feared the LORD greatly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to Him.
Now the LORD had prepared a
great fish to
swallow up
Jonah. And
Jonah was in the
belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Now the LORD had appointed a
great fish to
swallow Jonah, and
Jonah spent three days and three nights in the
belly of the fish.
Arise, go unto
Nineveh, that
great city, and
preach unto it the preaching that I
bid thee.
“Get up! Go to the
great city of
Nineveh and
proclaim to it the message that I give you.”
So
Jonah arose, and went unto
Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now
Nineveh was an exceeding
great city of three days’ journey.
This time
Jonah got up and went to
Nineveh, in accordance with the word of the LORD. Now
Nineveh was an exceedingly
great city, requiring a three-day journey.
So the people of
Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on
sackcloth, from the
greatest of them even to the least of them.
And the Ninevites believed God. They proclaimed a fast and dressed in
sackcloth, from the
greatest of them to the least.
But it displeased
Jonah exceedingly, and he was very
angry.
Jonah, however, was
greatly displeased, and he became
angry.
And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto
Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a
gracious God, and
merciful, slow to anger, and of
great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
So he prayed to the LORD, saying, “O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to
flee toward
Tarshish. I knew that You are a
gracious and
compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion—One who relents from sending
disaster.
And the LORD God prepared a
gourd, and made it to come up over
Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So
Jonah was exceeding
glad of the
gourd.
So the LORD God appointed a vine, and it grew up to provide shade over
Jonah’s head to ease his discomfort, and
Jonah was
greatly pleased with the plant.
And should not I
spare Nineveh, that
great city, wherein are more than
sixscore thousand persons that cannot
discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
So should I not care about the
great city of
Nineveh, which has more than 120,000 people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well?”
I will surely
assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the
remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of
Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make
great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the
remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in the midst of its pasture— a
noisy throng.
And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall
abide: for now shall he be
great unto the ends of the earth.
He will stand and
shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the
majestic name of the LORD His God. And they will dwell securely, for then His
greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.
That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the
great man, he uttereth his
mischievous desire: so they
wrap it up.
Both hands are skilled at evil; the prince and the judge demand a
bribe. When the powerful utters his evil desire, they all
conspire together.
The LORD is slow to anger, and
great in power, and will not at all
acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
The LORD is slow to anger and
great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the
whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
The
horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the
glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a
great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they
stumble upon their corpses:
Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were
dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her
great men were bound in chains.
Yet she became an exile; she went into captivity. Her infants were
dashed to pieces at the head of every street. They cast lots for her
dignitaries, and all her nobles were bound in chains.
Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the
great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they
flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
Your guards are like the
swarming locust, and your
scribes like clouds of locusts that settle on the walls on a cold day. When the sun rises, they fly away, and no one knows where.
Thou
didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the
heap of
great waters.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an
howling from the second, and a
great crashing from the hills.
On that day,” declares the LORD, “a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, a
wail from the Second District, and a loud
crashing from the hills.
The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
The
great Day of the LORD is near— near and coming quickly.
Listen, the Day of the LORD! Then the cry of the mighty will be bitter.
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am
jealous for Jerusalem and for
Zion with a
great jealousy.
Then the angel who was speaking with me said, “
Proclaim this word: This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘I am very
jealous for Jerusalem and
Zion,
Who art thou, O
great mountain? before
Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the
headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
What are you, O
great mountain? Before
Zerubbabel you will become a plain. Then he will bring forth the
capstone accompanied by shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”
Yea, they made their hearts as an
adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a
great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
They made their hearts like flint and would not
listen to the law or to the words that the LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore
great anger came from the LORD of Hosts.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was
jealous for
Zion with
great jealousy, and I was
jealous for her with
great fury.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Old men and old women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of great age.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of
Zion;
shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an
ass, and upon a
colt the
foal of an
ass.
Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of
Zion!
Shout in triumph, O Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a
donkey, on a
colt, the
foal of a
donkey.
For how
great is his goodness, and how
great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men
cheerful, and new wine the maids.
How lovely they will be, and how beautiful! Grain will make the young men
flourish, and new wine, the young women.
The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not
magnify themselves against Judah.
The LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and of the people of Jerusalem may not be greater than that of Judah.
In that day shall there be a
great mourning in Jerusalem, as the
mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall
cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very
great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half the mountain moving to the north and half to the south.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a
great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
On that day a
great panic from the LORD will come upon them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of one will rise against the other.
And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and
apparel, in
great abundance.
Judah will also fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—gold, silver, and
apparel in
great abundance.
