And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the
herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass, and
herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every
herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green
herb for meat: and it was so.
And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every
herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
Now no
shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field
sprouted; for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to
cultivate the ground.
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
And from the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him.
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
“You will not surely die,” the serpent told her.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and
ate it. She also gave some to
her husband who was with
her, and he
ate it.
And I will put
enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and
her seed; it shall
bruise thy head, and thou shalt
bruise his
heel.
And I will put
enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and
her seed. He will
crush your head, and you will strike his
heel.”
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the
herb of the field;
Both thorns and thistles it will yield for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
And now art thou
cursed from the earth, which hath opened
her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;
Now you are
cursed and banished from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee
her strength; a
fugitive and a
vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
When you till the ground, it will no longer yield its produce to you. You will be a
fugitive and a
wanderer on the earth.”
But the
dove found no rest for the sole of
her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took
her, and pulled
her in unto him into the ark.
But the
dove found no place to rest
her foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought
her back inside the ark.
And the
dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in
her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so
Noah knew that the waters were
abated from off the earth.
And behold, the
dove returned to him in the evening with a freshly
plucked olive leaf in
her beak. So
Noah knew that the waters had
receded from the earth.
Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green
herb have I given you all things.
Everything that lives and moves will be food for you; just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you all things.
The princes also of Pharaoh saw
her, and
commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.
When Pharaoh’s officials saw Sarai, they
commended her to him, and she was taken into the palace of Pharaoh.
And he
entreated Abram well for
her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he
asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she
asses, and camels.
He treated
Abram well on
her account, and
Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female
donkeys, menservants and maidservants, and camels.
Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her as my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!”
And Lot also, which went with
Abram, had flocks, and
herds, and tents.
Now Lot, who was traveling with
Abram, also had flocks and
herds and tents.
And there was a
strife between the
herdmen of
Abram’s cattle and the
herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the
Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
And there was discord between the
herdsmen of
Abram and the
herdsmen of Lot. At that time the
Canaanites and the
Perizzites were also living in the land.
And
Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no
strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my
herdmen and thy
herdmen; for we be brethren.
So
Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no
contention between you and me, or between your
herdsmen and my
herdsmen. After all, we are brothers.
But in the fourth generation they shall come
hither again: for the iniquity of the
Amorites is not yet full.
In the fourth generation your descendants will return
here, for the iniquity of the
Amorites is not yet complete.”
And Sarai said unto
Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my
maid; it may be that I may obtain children by
her. And
Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
So Sarai said to
Abram, “Look now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please go to my
maidservant; perhaps I can build a family by
her.” And
Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
And Sarai
Abram’s wife took
Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after
Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of
Canaan, and gave
her to
her husband
Abram to be his wife.
So after he had lived in
Canaan for ten years, his wife Sarai took
her Egyptian
maidservant Hagar and gave
her to
Abram to be his wife.
And he went in unto
Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived,
her mistress was
despised in
her eyes.
And Sarai said unto
Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my
maid into thy
bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was
despised in
her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.
Then Sarai said to
Abram, “May the wrong done to me be upon you! I delivered my servant into your arms, and ever since she saw that she was
pregnant, she has treated me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me.”
But
Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy
maid is in thy hand; do to
her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with
her, she fled from
her face.
“
Here,” said
Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with
her.” Then Sarai treated
Hagar so harshly that she fled from
her.
And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
Now the angel of the LORD found
Hagar by a spring of water in the desert—the spring along the road to Shur.
And the angel of the LORD said unto
her, Return to thy
mistress, and submit
thyself under
her hands.
So the angel of the LORD told
her, “Return to your
mistress and submit to
her authority.”
And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
Then the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.”
And the angel of the LORD said unto
her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name
Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy
affliction.
The angel of the LORD proceeded: “Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son. And you shall name him
Ishmael, for the LORD has heard your cry of
affliction.
And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto
her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also
here looked after him that
seeth me?
So
Hagar gave this name to the LORD who had spoken to
her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “
Here I have seen the One who sees me!”
And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call
her name Sarai, but
Sarah shall
her name be.
Then God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, do not call
her Sarai, for
her name is to be
Sarah.
And I will
bless her, and give thee a son also of
her:
yea, I will
bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of
her.
And I will
bless her and will surely give you a son by
her. I will
bless her, and she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will descend from
her.”
And Abraham ran unto the
herd, and fetcht a
calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
Meanwhile, Abraham ran to the
herd, selected a tender and choice
calf, and gave it to a servant, who
hurried to prepare it.
Therefore
Sarah laughed within
herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
So she
laughed to
herself, saying, “After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to
sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed
sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
“Get out of the way!” they replied. And they declared, “This one came here as a foreigner, and he is already acting like a judge! Now we will treat you worse than them.” And they pressed in on Lot and moved in to break down the door.
And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou
here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and
whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
Then the two men said to Lot, “Do you have
anyone else
here—a son-in-law, your sons or daughters, or
anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of
here,
And when the morning arose, then the angels
hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are
here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
At
daybreak the angels
hurried Lot along, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are
here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the
firstborn went in, and lay with
her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
So that night they got their father
drunk with wine, and the
firstborn went in and
slept with
her father; he was not aware when she lay down or when she got up.
But
Abimelech had not come near
her: and he said, Lord,
wilt thou
slay also a righteous nation?
Now
Abimelech had not gone near
her, so he replied, “Lord, would You destroy a nation even though it is innocent?
Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she
herself said, He is my brother: in the
integrity of my heart and
innocency of my hands have I done this.
Didn’t Abraham tell me, ‘She is my sister’? And she
herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ I have done this in the
integrity of my heart and the
innocence of my hands.”
And God said unto him in a dream,
Yea, I know that thou
didst this in the
integrity of thy heart; for I also
withheld thee from
sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch
her.
Then God said to
Abimelech in the dream, “
Yes, I know that you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from
sinning against Me. That is why I did not let you touch
her.
Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet; he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, be aware that you will surely die—you and all who belong to you.”
And it came to pass, when God caused me to
wander from my father’s house, that I said unto
her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt
shew unto me; at every place
whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
So when God had me journey from my father’s house, I said to
Sarah, ‘This is how you can show your
loyalty to me: Wherever we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
And
Sarah saw the son of
Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham,
mocking.
But
Sarah saw that the son whom
Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was
mocking her son,
Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this
bondwoman and
her son: for the son of this
bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
and she said to Abraham, “
Expel the slave woman and
her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac!”
And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be
grievous in thy sight because of the
lad, and because of thy
bondwoman; in all that
Sarah hath said unto thee,
hearken unto
her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
But God said to Abraham, “Do not be distressed about the boy and your
maidservant.
Listen to everything that
Sarah tells you, for through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.
And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a
bottle of water, and gave it unto
Hagar, putting it on
her shoulder, and the child, and sent
her away: and she departed, and
wandered in the wilderness of Beer-
sheba.
Early in the morning, Abraham got up, took bread and a skin of water, put them on
Hagar’s shoulders, and sent
her away with the boy. She left and
wandered in the Wilderness of
Beersheba.
And she went, and sat
her down over against him a good way off, as it were a
bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up
her voice, and
wept.
Then she went off and sat down nearby, about a
bowshot away, for she said, “I cannot bear to watch the boy die!” And as she sat nearby, she lifted up
her voice and
wept.
And God heard the voice of the
lad; and the angel of God called
Hagar out of heaven, and said unto
her, What aileth thee,
Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the
lad where he is.
Then God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to
Hagar from heaven, “What is wrong,
Hagar? Do not be afraid, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he lies.
And God opened
her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the
bottle with water, and gave the
lad drink.
Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
Now therefore
swear unto me
here by God that thou
wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son’s son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast
sojourned.
Now, therefore,
swear to me
here before God that you will not deal falsely with me or my children or descendants. Show to me and to the country in which you reside the same kindness that I have shown to you.”
And it came to pass after these things, that God did
tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold,
here I am.
Some time later God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he answered.
And Abraham said unto his young men,
Abide ye
here with the
ass; and I and the
lad will go
yonder and worship, and come again to you,
“Stay
here with the
donkey,” Abraham told his servants. “The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will return to you.”
And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” “Here I am, my son,” he replied. “The fire and the wood are here,” said Isaac, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
Just then the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied.
She died in Kiriath-arba (that is,
Hebron) in the land of
Canaan, and Abraham went out to
mourn and to
weep for
her.
Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:
Here I am, standing beside the spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water.
And let it come to pass, that the
damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.
Now may it happen that the
girl to whom I say, ‘Please let down your
jar that I may drink,’ and who responds, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels as well’—let
her be the one You have appointed for Your servant Isaac. By this I will know that You have shown kindness to my master.”
And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold,
Rebekah came out, who was born to
Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of
Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with
her pitcher upon
her shoulder.
Before the servant had finished praying,
Rebekah came out with
her jar on
her shoulder. She was the daughter of
Bethuel son of Milcah, the wife of Abraham’s brother
Nahor.
And the
damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known
her: and she went down to the well, and filled
her pitcher, and came up.
Now the
girl was very beautiful, a virgin who had not had relations with any man. She went down to the spring, filled
her jar, and came up again.
And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.
So the servant ran to meet
her and said, “Please let me have a little water from your
jar.”
And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink.
“Drink, my lord,” she replied, and she quickly lowered
her jar to
her hands and gave him a drink.
And she hasted, and
emptied her pitcher into the
trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.
And she quickly
emptied her jar into the
trough and ran back to the well to draw water, until she had drawn water for all his camels.
And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not.
Meanwhile, the man watched her silently to see whether or not the LORD had made his journey a success.
And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden
earring of half a
shekel weight, and two bracelets for
her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;
And after the camels had finished drinking, he took out a gold ring weighing a beka, and two gold bracelets for her wrists weighing ten shekels.
And the
damsel ran, and told them of
her mother’s house these things.
The
girl ran and told
her mother’s household about these things.
And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.
“Come, you who are blessed by the LORD,” said
Laban. “Why are you standing out
here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.”
And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and
herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and
asses.
“The LORD has greatly blessed my master, and he has become rich. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, menservants and maidservants, camels and
donkeys.
And
Sarah my master’s wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath.
My master’s wife
Sarah has borne him a son in
her old age, and my master has given him everything he owns.
Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.
And when you go to my kindred, if they refuse to give her to you, then you will be released from my oath.’
Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;
Here I am, standing beside this spring. Now if a
maiden comes out to draw water and I say to
her, ‘Please let me drink a little water from your
jar,’
And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold,
Rebekah came forth with
her pitcher on
her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto
her, Let me drink, I pray thee.
And before I had finished praying in my heart, there was
Rebekah coming out with
her jar on
her shoulder, and she went down to the spring and drew water. So I said to
her, ‘Please give me a drink.’
And she made
haste, and let down
her pitcher from
her shoulder, and said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I
drank, and she made the camels drink also.
She quickly lowered
her jar from
her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels as well.’ So I
drank, and she also watered the camels.
And I asked
her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she said, The daughter of
Bethuel,
Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the
earring upon
her face, and the bracelets upon
her hands.
Then I asked
her, ‘Whose daughter are you?’ She replied, ‘The daughter of
Bethuel son of
Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him.’ So I put the ring on
her nose and the bracelets on
her wrists.
Behold,
Rebekah is before thee, take
her, and go, and let
her be thy master’s son’s wife, as the LORD hath spoken.
Rebekah is
here before you. Take
her and go, and let
her become the wife of your master’s son, just as the LORD has decreed.”
And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and
raiment, and gave them to
Rebekah: he gave also to
her brother and to
her mother precious things.
Then he brought out jewels of silver and gold, and articles of clothing, and he gave them to
Rebekah. He also gave precious gifts to
her brother and
her mother.
And
her brother and
her mother said, Let the
damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.
But
her brother and mother said, “Let the
girl remain with us ten days or so. After that, she may go.”
And they said, We will call the
damsel, and
enquire at
her mouth.
So they said, “We will call the
girl and ask
her opinion.”
And they called
Rebekah, and said unto
her,
Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.
They called
Rebekah and asked
her, “Will you go with this man?” “I will go,” she replied.
And they sent away
Rebekah their sister, and
her nurse, and Abraham’s servant, and his men.
So they sent their sister
Rebekah on
her way, along with
her nurse and Abraham’s servant and his men.
And they blessed
Rebekah, and said unto
her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which
hate them.
And they blessed
Rebekah and said to
her, “Our sister, may you become the mother of thousands upon thousands. May your offspring possess the gates of their enemies.”
And
Rebekah arose, and
her damsels, and they
rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took
Rebekah, and went his way.
Then
Rebekah and
her servant girls got ready, mounted the camels, and followed the man. So the servant took
Rebekah and left.
And
Rebekah lifted up
her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the
camel.
And when
Rebekah looked up and saw Isaac, she got down from
her camel For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a
vail, and covered
herself.
and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?” “It is my master,” the servant answered. So she took
her veil and covered
herself.
And Isaac brought
her into his mother
Sarah’s tent, and took
Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved
her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
And Isaac brought
her into the tent of his mother
Sarah and took
Rebekah as his wife. And Isaac loved
her and was comforted after his mother’s death.
Then again Abraham took a wife, and
her name was
Keturah.
Now Abraham had taken another wife, named
Keturah,
And the children struggled together within
her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to
enquire of the LORD.
But the children inside
her struggled with each other, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So
Rebekah went to inquire of the LORD,
And the LORD said unto
her, Two nations are in thy
womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy
bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
and He declared to
her: “Two nations are in your
womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.”
And when
her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in
her womb.
When
her time came to give birth, there were indeed twins in
her womb.
And
Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a
surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for
her.
Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, “So she is really your wife! How could you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac replied, “Because I thought I might die on account of
her.”
For he had possession of flocks, and possession of
herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines
envied him.
He owned so many flocks and
herds and servants that the Philistines
envied him.
And the
herdmen of
Gerar did
strive with Isaac’s
herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they
strove with him.
But the
herdsmen of
Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s
herdsmen and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek, because they
contended with him.
And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were
dim, so that he could not see, he called
Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold,
here am I.
When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called his older son
Esau and said to him, “My son.” “
Here I am,”
Esau replied.
And
Rebekah spake unto Jacob
her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto
Esau thy brother, saying,
Rebekah said to
her son Jacob, “Behold, I overheard your father saying to your brother
Esau,
And
Rebekah took goodly
raiment of
her eldest son
Esau, which were with
her in the house, and put them upon Jacob
her younger son:
And
Rebekah took the finest clothes in the house that belonged to
her older son
Esau, and she put them on
her younger son Jacob.
And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
Then she handed
her son Jacob the
tasty food and bread she had made.
And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?
So Jacob went to his father and said, “My father.” “Here I am!” he answered. “Which one are you, my son?”
And these words of
Esau her elder son were told to
Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob
her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother
Esau, as touching thee,
doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.
When the words of
