So the posts that
rode upon mules and camels went out, being
hastened and pressed on by the
king’s commandment. And the decree was given at
Shushan the palace.
The couriers
rode out in
haste on their royal horses, pressed on by the command of the
king. And the edict was also issued in the citadel of
Susa.
And
Mordecai went out from the presence of the
king in royal
apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of
Shushan rejoiced and was
glad.
Mordecai went out from the presence of the
king in royal garments of blue and white, with a large gold crown and a purple
robe of fine linen. And the city of
Susa shouted and
rejoiced.
And in every province, and in every city,
whithersoever the
king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and
gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
In every province and every city, wherever the
king’s edict and decree reached, there was joy and
gladness among the Jews, with feasting and
celebrating. And many of the people of the land themselves became Jews, because the fear of the Jews had fallen upon them.
Now in the
twelfth month, that is, the month
Adar, on the
thirteenth day of the same, when the
king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that
hated them;)
On the
thirteenth day of the
twelfth month, the month of
Adar, the
king’s command and edict were to be executed. On this day the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but their plan was overturned and the Jews overpowered those who
hated them.
The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the
king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their
hurt: and no man could
withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.
In each of the provinces of
King Xerxes, the Jews assembled in their cities to attack those who sought to
harm them. No man could
withstand them, because the fear of them had fallen upon all peoples.
And all the rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the
deputies, and officers of the
king, helped the Jews; because the fear of
Mordecai fell upon them.
And all the officials of the provinces, the satraps, the governors, and the
king’s administrators helped the Jews, because the fear of
Mordecai had fallen upon them.
For
Mordecai was great in the
king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man
Mordecai waxed greater and greater.
For
Mordecai exercised great power in the palace, and his fame spread throughout the provinces as he became more and more powerful.
On that day the number of those that were slain in
Shushan the palace was brought before the
king.
On that day the number of those killed in the citadel of
Susa was reported to the
king,
And the
king said unto
Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred men in
Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of
Haman; what have they done in the rest of the
king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
who said to Queen
Esther, “In the citadel of
Susa the Jews have killed and destroyed five hundred men, including
Haman’s ten sons. What have they done in the rest of the royal provinces? Now what is your petition? It will be given to you. And what further do you request? It will be fulfilled.”
Then said
Esther, If it please the
king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in
Shushan to do to
morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let
Haman’s ten sons be
hanged upon the
gallows.
And the
king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at
Shushan; and they
hanged Haman’s ten sons.
So the
king commanded that this be done. An edict was issued in
Susa, and they
hanged the ten sons of
Haman.
But the other Jews that were in the
king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and
slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,
The rest of the Jews in the royal provinces also assembled to defend themselves and rid themselves of their enemies. They killed 75,000 who
hated them, but they did not lay a hand on the
plunder.
And
Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the
king Ahasuerus, both
nigh and far,
Mordecai recorded these events and sent letters to all the Jews in all the provinces of
King Xerxes, both near and far,
But when
Esther came before the
king, he commanded by letters that his wicked
device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be
hanged on the
gallows.
But when it came before the
king, he commanded by letter that the wicked scheme which
Haman had devised against the Jews should come back upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be
hanged on the
gallows.
And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the
kingdom of
Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,
And
Mordecai sent letters with words of peace and truth to all the Jews in the 127 provinces of the
kingdom of

king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.
Now
King Xerxes imposed tribute throughout the land, even to its
farthest shores.
And all the acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of
Mordecai,
whereunto the
king advanced him, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the
kings of Media and Persia?
And all of
Mordecai’s powerful and magnificent accomplishments, together with the full account of the greatness to which the
king had raised him, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the
Kings of Media and Persia?
For
Mordecai the
Jew was next unto
king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
For
Mordecai the
Jew was second only to
King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews and highly favored by his many
kinsmen, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his countrymen.

kings and counsellors of the earth, which built

kings, and girdeth their loins with a

king ready to the battle.
His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

torn from the shelter of his tent and is marched off to the
king of terrors.

kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

Then was
kindled the wrath of
Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the
kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath
kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.
This
kindled the anger of
Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram. He burned with anger against Job for
justifying himself rather than God,
Also against his three friends was his wrath
kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.
and he burned with anger against Job’s three friends because they had failed to
refute Job, and yet had condemned him.
When
Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was
kindled.
But when he saw that the three men had no further reply, his anger was
kindled.
Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?
who says to kings, ‘You are worthless!’ and to nobles, ‘You are wicked,’
He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with
kings are they on the throne;
yea, he
doth establish them for ever, and they are
exalted.
He does not take His eyes off the righteous, but He enthrones them with
kings and exalts them
forever.

kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, He said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is
kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken about Me accurately, as My servant Job has.
The
kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his
anointed, saying,
The
kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together, against the LORD and against His
Anointed One:
Yet have I set my
king upon my holy hill of
Zion.

kings: be
instructed, ye judges of the earth.

kings; be

Kiss the Son, lest he be
angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is
kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Kiss the Son, lest He be
angry and you perish in your rebellion, when His wrath ignites in an instant. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my
King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he
rejoice!

king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will not be
shaken.

everlasting doors; and the
King of glory shall come in.

everlasting doors; and the
King of glory shall come in.

King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the
King of glory.

King of Glory? The LORD of Hosts— He is the
King of Glory.

yea, the LORD sitteth
King for ever.
The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as
King forever.
Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
Blessed be the LORD, for He has shown me His loving devotion in a city under siege.
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
No
king is saved by his vast army; no
warrior is delivered by his great strength.
My beloved and friends
shun my disease, and my
kinsmen stand at a distance.
Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
You are my
King, O God, who ordains
victories for Jacob.
My heart is
inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the
king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
My heart is
stirred by a noble
theme as I
recite my verses to the
king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
Your arrows
pierce the hearts of the
king’s foes; the nations fall beneath your feet.

sceptre of thy
kingdom is a right
sceptre.

forever and ever, and justice is the

Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of
Ophir.
The daughters of
kings are among your honored women; the queen stands at your right hand, adorned with the gold of
Ophir.
So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
and the king will desire your beauty; bow to him, for he is your lord.
The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
All glorious is the princess in her chamber; her
gown is
embroidered with gold.
She shall be brought unto the
king in
raiment of
needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
In colorful garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions are brought before you.
With
gladness and
rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the
king’s palace.
They are led in with joy and
gladness; they enter the palace of the
king.

raged, the
kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

kingdoms crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.

awesome is the LORD Most High, the great
King over all the earth!

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount
Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great
King.
Beautiful in
loftiness, the joy of all the earth, like the peaks of Zaphon is Mount
Zion, the city of the great
King.
For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
For behold, the kings assembled; they all advanced together.
Thou
wilt prolong the
king’s life: and his years as many generations.

But the
king shall
rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
But the
king will
rejoice in God; all who
swear by Him will
exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut.

kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord;

Endow the
king with Your justice, O God, and the son of the
king with Your righteousness.
The
kings of
Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the
kings of
Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
May the
kings of
Tarshish and distant shores bring tribute; may the
kings of
Sheba and Seba offer gifts.
Yea, all
kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.
May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.

Yea, the
sparrow hath found an house, and the
swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my
King, and my God.
Even the
sparrow has found a home, and the
swallow a nest for herself, where she places her young near Your altars, O LORD of Hosts, my
King and my God.

With
trumpets and sound of
cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the
King.
With
trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn
shout for joy before the LORD, the
King.
The
king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou
dost establish
equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.
The mighty
King loves justice. You have established
equity; You have exercised justice and righteousness in Jacob.

So the nations will fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth will fear Your glory.

when peoples and
kingdoms assemble to serve the LORD.

forget not all his benefits:

forget all His
kind deeds—

yea, he reproved
kings for their sakes;
