Yet within three days shall Pharaoh
lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou
wast his
butler.
Within three days Pharaoh will
lift up your head and restore your position. You will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand, just as you did when you were his
cupbearer.
Yet within three days shall Pharaoh

And if thou
wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of
hewn stone: for if thou
lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast
polluted it.
Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a
chisel on it, you will
defile it.
And thou shalt
sanctify the breast of the wave offering, and the shoulder of the
heave offering, which is waved, and which is
heaved up, of the ram of the
consecration, even of that which is for Aaron, and of that which is for his sons:
Consecrate for Aaron and his sons the breast of the wave offering that is waved and the
thigh of the
heave offering that is
lifted up from the ram of
ordination.
And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went
onward in all their journeys:
Whenever the cloud was lifted from above the tabernacle, the Israelites would set out through all the stages of their journey.
But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.
If the cloud was not lifted, they would not set out until the day it was taken up.

And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
Whenever the cloud was lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites would set out, and wherever the cloud settled, there the Israelites would camp.
And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
Sometimes the cloud remained only from evening until morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they would set out. Whether it was by day or by night, when the cloud was taken up, they would set out.
Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud
tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining
thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
Whether the cloud
lingered for two days, a month, or longer, the Israelites camped and did not set out as long as the cloud remained over the tabernacle; but when it was
lifted, they would set out.
And it came to pass on the
twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.
On the
twentieth day of the second month of the second year, the cloud was
lifted from above the tabernacle of the Testimony,
And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold,
Miriam became
leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon
Miriam, and, behold, she was
leprous.
As the cloud
lifted from above the Tent, suddenly
Miriam became
leprous, white as snow. Aaron turned toward her, saw that she was
leprous,
And all the congregation
lifted up their voice, and
cried; and the people
wept that night.
Then the whole congregation
lifted up their voices and

wept.
Then it shall be, that, when ye eat of the bread of the land, ye shall offer up an
heave offering unto the LORD.
and you eat the food of the land, you shall lift up an offering to the LORD.
Ye shall offer up a
cake of the first of your
dough for an
heave offering: as ye do the
heave offering of the threshingfloor, so shall ye
heave it.
From the first of your
dough, you are to
lift up a
cake as a contribution; offer it just like an offering from the
threshing floor.
And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then
lift ye up
yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
They came together against Moses and Aaron and told them, “You have taken too much upon
yourselves! For
everyone in the entire congregation is holy, and the LORD is in their midst. Why then do you
exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?”
And Moses
lifted up his hand, and with his rod he
smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation
drank, and their beasts also.

gushed out, and the congregation and their
livestock were able to drink.

Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come,
curse me Jacob, and come,
defy Israel.
And

oracle, saying: “Balak brought me from
Aram, the king of Moab from the mountains of the east. ‘Come,’ he said, ‘put a
curse on Jacob for me; come and
denounce Israel!’
And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear;
hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:
Then
Balaam lifted up an
oracle, saying: “Arise, O Balak, and
listen; give ear to me, O son of Zippor.
Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.
Behold, the people rise like a
lioness; they
rouse themselves like a lion, not resting until they
devour their prey and drink the blood of the slain.”
And
Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel
abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
When
Balaam looked up and saw Israel
encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came upon him,
And he took up his parable, and said,
Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
and he
lifted up an
oracle, saying: “This is the prophecy of
Balaam son of Beor, the prophecy of a man whose eyes are open,
And he took up his parable, and said,
Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
Then
Balaam lifted up an
oracle, saying, “This is the prophecy of
Balaam son of Beor, the prophecy of a man whose eyes are open,
And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.
Then
Balaam saw Amalek and
lifted up an
oracle, saying: “Amalek was first among the nations, but his end is destruction.”
And he looked on the
Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
Next he saw the
Kenites and
lifted up an
oracle, saying: “Your dwelling place is secure, and your nest is set in a
cliff.
And he took up his parable, and said,
Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
Once more
Balaam lifted up an
oracle, saying: “
Ah, who can live unless God has ordained it?
Get thee up into the top of
Pisgah, and
lift up thine eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with thine eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
Go to the top of
Pisgah and look to the west and north and south and east. See the land with your own eyes, for you will not cross this Jordan.
And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
When you look to the heavens and see the sun and moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be
enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has
apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
Then thine heart be
lifted up, and thou
forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of
bondage;
then your heart will become proud, and you will
forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
That his heart be not
lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may
prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
Then his heart will not be
exalted above his countrymen, and he will not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or to the left, in order that he and his sons may reign many years over his kingdom in Israel.
Thou shalt not see thy brother’s
ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide
thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to
lift them up again.
If you see your brother’s
donkey or ox fallen on the road, you must not
ignore it; you must help him
lift it up.
And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
Moreover, you are to build there an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. You must not use any iron tool on them.
For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
For I
lift up My hand to heaven and declare: As surely as I live
forever,
And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
When the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up out of the Jordan and their feet touched the dry land, the waters of the Jordan returned to their course and overflowed all the banks as before.
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by
Jericho, that he
lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our
adversaries?
Now when Joshua was near
Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in His hand. Joshua approached Him and asked, “Are You for us or for our enemies?”
As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath
lift up any iron: and they offered
thereon burnt offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.
just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded the Israelites. He built it according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses: “an altar of uncut stones on which no iron tool has been used.” And on it they offered burnt offerings to the LORD, and they sacrificed peace offerings.
And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people
lifted up their voice, and
wept.
When the angel of the LORD had spoken these words to all the Israelites, the people
lifted up their voices and
wept.
Thus was
Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they
lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of
Gideon.
In this way
Midian was subdued before the Israelites and did not raise its head again. So the land had rest for forty years in the days of
Gideon,
And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount
Gerizim, and
lifted up his voice, and
cried, and said unto them,
Hearken unto me, ye men of
Shechem, that God may
hearken unto you.
And
Abimelech gat him up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him; and
Abimelech took an
axe in his hand, and cut down a
bough from the trees, and took it, and laid it on his shoulder, and said unto the people that were with him, What ye have seen me do, make
haste, and do as I have done.
he and all his men went up to Mount Zalmon.
Abimelech took his
axe in his hand and cut a branch from the trees, which he
lifted to his shoulder, saying to his men, “
Hurry and do what you have seen me do.”
And when he had
lifted up his eyes, he saw a
wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said,
Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
When he looked up and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, “Where are you going, and where have you come from?”
And the people came to the house of God, and abode there till even before God, and
lifted up their voices, and
wept sore;
So the people came to
Bethel and sat there before God until evening,
lifting up their voices and
weeping bitterly.
The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she
kissed them; and they
lifted up their voice, and
wept.
May the LORD enable each of you to find rest in the home of your new husband.” And she
kissed them as they
wept aloud And they
lifted up their voice, and
wept again: and Orpah
kissed her mother in law; but
Ruth clave unto her.
The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
The LORD sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts.
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and
lifteth up the
beggar from the
dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them
inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.
He raises the poor from the dust and
lifts the
needy from the ash
heap. He seats them among princes and bestows on them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s, and upon them He has set the world.
And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a
trespass offering: then ye shall be
healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.
They replied, “If you return the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away empty, but by all means return it to Him with a guilt offering. Then you will be
healed, and you will understand why His hand has not been
lifted from you.”
Wherefore ye shall make images of your
emerods, and images of your
mice that
mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel:
peradventure he will
lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
Make images of your tumors and of the rats that are
ravaging the land. Give glory to the God of Israel, and perhaps He will
lift His hand from you and your gods and your land.
And they of Beth-shemesh were
reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they
lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and
rejoiced to see it.
Now the people of Beth-shemesh were harvesting wheat in the valley, and when they looked up and saw the ark, they were overjoyed at the sight.
Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the
tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people
lifted up their voices, and
wept.
When the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul and relayed these words in the hearing of the people, they all
wept aloud.
And the king said unto the
footmen that stood about him, Turn, and
slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not
shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
Then the king ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was
fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not
lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.
And he said unto his men, The LORD
forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD’S
anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the
anointed of the LORD.
So he said to his men, “The LORD
forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD’s
anointed. May I never
lift my hand against him, since he is the LORD’s
anointed.”
Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some
bade me kill thee: but mine eye
spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD’S
anointed.
Behold, this day you have seen with your own eyes that the LORD delivered you into my hand in the cave. I was told to kill you, but I
spared you and said, ‘I will not
lift my hand against my lord, since he is the LORD’s
anointed.’
And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul
lifted up his voice, and
wept.
When David had finished saying these things, Saul called back, “Is that your voice, David my son?” Then Saul
wept aloud And David said to
Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD’S
anointed, and be guiltless?
But David said to
Abishai, “Do not destroy him, for who can
lift a hand against the LORD’s
anointed and be guiltless?”
Then David and the people that were with him
lifted up their voice and
wept, until they had no more power to
weep.
So David and the troops with him
lifted up their voices and
wept until they had no strength left to
weep.
And David said unto him, How
wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’S
anointed?
So David asked him, “Why were you not afraid to
lift your hand to destroy the LORD’s
anointed?”
And they buried
Abner in
Hebron: and the king
lifted up his voice, and
wept at the grave of
Abner; and all the people
wept.
But
Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch
lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.
Meanwhile,
Absalom had fled. When the young man standing watch looked up, he saw many people coming down the road west of him, along the side of the hill. And the
watchman went and reported to the king, “I see men coming from the direction of Horonaim, along the side of the hill.”
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king’s sons came, and
lifted up their voice and
wept: and the king also and all his servants
wept very
sore.
And as he finished speaking, the sons of the king came in,
wailing loudly. Then the king and all his servants also
wept very bitterly.
And David sat between the two gates: and the
watchman went up to the roof over the gate unto the wall, and
lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold a man running alone.
Now David was sitting between the two gates when the
watchman went up to the roof of the
gateway by the wall, looked out, and saw a man running alone.
And
Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered up the men that
lifted up their hand against my lord the king.
Then
Ahimaaz called out to the king, “All is well!” And he bowed facedown before the king. He continued, “Blessed be the LORD your God! He has delivered up the men who raised their hands against my lord the king.”
The matter is not so: but a man of mount Ephraim,
Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath
lifted up his hand against the king, even against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto
Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
That is not the case. But a man named
Sheba son of Bichri, from the hill country of Ephraim, has
lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him alone, and I will depart from the city.” “Look,” the woman replied, “his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
who frees me from my enemies. You
exalt me above my foes; You
rescue me from violent men.
These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he
lift up his
spear against eight hundred, whom he
slew at one time.
These are the names of David’s mighty men: Josheb-basshebeth the Tahchemonite was chief of the Three. He
wielded his
spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed at one time.
And
Abishai, the brother of
Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he
lifted up his
spear against three hundred, and
slew them, and had the name among three.
Now
Abishai, the brother of
Joab and son of Zeruiah, was chief of the Three, and he
lifted his
spear against three hundred men, killed them, and won a name along with the Three.
And
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he
lifted up his hand against the king.
Now
Jeroboam son of Nebat was an Ephraimite from Zeredah whose mother was a widow named Zeruah.
Jeroboam was a servant of Solomon, but he rebelled against the king,
And this was the cause that he
lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built
Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.
and this is the account of his rebellion against the king. Solomon had built the supporting terraces and repaired the
gap in the wall of the city of his father David.
And the prophet took up the
carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the
ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to
mourn and to
bury him.
So the old prophet
lifted up the body of the man of God, laid it on the
donkey, and brought it back to his own city to
mourn for him and
bury him.
Forasmuch as I
exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of
Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to
provoke me to anger with their sins;
“Even though I
lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, you have walked in the way of
Jeroboam and have caused My people Israel to sin and to
provoke Me to anger by their sins.
Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
“Lift it out,” he said, and the man reached out his hand and took it.
