I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
While it is
daytime, we
must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work.
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I
must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one
shepherd.
I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I
must bring them in as well, and they will
listen to My voice. Then there will be one flock and one
shepherd.
Now both the chief priests and the
Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should
shew it, that they might take him.
But the chief priests and
Pharisees had given orders that
anyone who knew where He was
must report it, so that they could arrest Him.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
If
anyone serves Me, he
must follow Me; and where I am, My servant will be as well. If
anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
The crowd replied, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ will remain
forever. So how can You say that the Son of Man
must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another.
And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
And you also
must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
“We have a law,” answered the Jews, “and according to that law He must die, because He declared Himself to be the Son of God.”
For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
For they still did not understand from the Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.
Men and brethren, this scripture
must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning
Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
“Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit
foretold through the mouth of David concerning
Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus.
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
beginning from John’s baptism until the day Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
Whom the heaven
must receive until the times of
restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Heaven
must take Him in until the time comes for the restoration of all things, which God
announced long ago through His holy prophets.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things
whatsoever he shall say unto you.
For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You
must listen to Him in everything He tells you.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly
threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.
But to keep this message from spreading any further among the people, we
must warn them not to speak to
anyone in this name.”
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
But Peter and the other apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men.
And he
trembling and
astonished said, Lord, what
wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou
must do.
“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
For I will
shew him how great things he
must suffer for my name’s sake.
I will show him how much he must suffer for My name.”
And they said unto her, Thou art
mad. But she constantly
affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
“You are out of your mind,” they told her. But when she kept
insisting it was so, they said, “It
must be his angel.”
Confirming the souls of the disciples, and
exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we
must through much
tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
strengthening the souls of the disciples and
encouraging them to continue in the faith. “We
must endure many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.
But there rose up certain of the sect of the
Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to
circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
But some believers from the party of the
Pharisees stood up and declared, “The Gentiles
must be
circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses.”
Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words,
subverting your souls, saying, Ye
must be
circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
It has come to our attention that some went out from us without our
authorization and unsettled you, troubling your minds by what they said.
You
must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of
strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.
Farewell.
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Opening and
alleging, that Christ
must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I
preach unto you, is Christ.
explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am
proclaiming to you is the Christ,” he declared.
But
bade them
farewell, saying, I
must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
But as he left, he said, “I will come back to you if God is willing.” And he set sail from Ephesus.
After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through
Macedonia and
Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I
must also see Rome.
After these things had happened, Paul resolved in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem after he had passed through
Macedonia and
Achaia. “After I have been there,” he said, “I
must see Rome as well.”
But if ye
enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
But if you are seeking anything beyond this, it must be settled in a legal assembly.
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
What then should we do? They will certainly hear that you have come.
As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from
strangled, and from
fornication.
As for the
Gentile believers, we have written to them our decision that they
must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of
strangled animals, and from sexual immorality.”
And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good
cheer, Paul: for as thou hast
testified of me in Jerusalem, so
must thou bear witness also at Rome.
The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have
testified about Me in Jerusalem, so also you
must testify in Rome.”
Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And look, God has granted you the lives of all who sail with you.’
Howbeit we
must be cast upon a certain island.
However, we
must run
aground on some island.”
Likewise
reckon ye also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So you too
must count
yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Everyone must submit himself to the
governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God.
Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
Therefore it is necessary to submit to authority, not only to avoid punishment, but also as a matter of conscience.
Let not him that eateth
despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
The one who eats everything
must not
belittle the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything
must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted him.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth
thereon. But let every man take
heed how he buildeth
thereupon.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an
expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one
must be careful how he builds.
Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the
covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then
must ye needs go out of the world.
I was not including the sexually immoral of this world, or the
greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be
reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
But if she does, she
must remain unmarried or else be
reconciled to her husband. And a husband
must not
divorce his wife.
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If a brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he
must not
divorce her.
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
And if a woman has an unbelieving husband and he is willing to live with her, she
must not
divorce him.
Or are
Barnabas and I the only apostles who
must work for a living?
For there
must be also
heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
And indeed, there must be differences among you to show which of you are approved.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a
psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto
edifying.
What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together,
everyone has a
psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these
must be done to build up the church.
If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one
interpret.
If
anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and someone
must interpret.
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
Women are to be silent in the churches. They are not permitted to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.
Let all things be done decently and in order.
But everything must be done in a proper and orderly manner.
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
For this corruptible
must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality.
For the perishable
must be clothed with the imperishable, and the
mortal with immortality.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad.
If I
must boast, I will
boast of the things that show my weakness.
It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
I
must go on
boasting. Although there is nothing to gain, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord.
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
This is the third time I am coming to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word
must share in all good things with his
instructor.
This I say therefore, and
testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
So I tell you this, and
insist on it in the Lord, that you
must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the
futility of their thinking.
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
Therefore each of you
must put off
falsehood and speak truthfully to his
neighbor, for we are all members of one another.
Let him that
stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
He who has been
stealing must steal no longer, but
must work, doing good with his own hands, that he may have something to share with the one in need.
But among you, as is proper among the saints, there
must not be even a
hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of
greed.
Speaking to
yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody in your heart to the Lord;
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord,
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Nevertheless,
whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Nevertheless, we must live up to what we have already attained.
Therefore, my brethren
dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my
dearly beloved.
Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you must stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath,
malice,
blasphemy,
filthy communication out of your mouth.
But now you
must put aside all such things as these: anger,
rage,
malice,
slander, and
filthy language from your lips.
For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You
must abstain from sexual immorality;
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in
sanctification and honour;
each of you
must know how to control his own body in
holiness and honor,
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
An
overseer must manage his own household well and keep his children under control, with complete dignity.
He
must not be a recent convert, or he may become
conceited and fall under the same
condemnation as the devil.
Moreover he
must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the
snare of the devil.
Furthermore, he
must have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the
snare of the devil.
Likewise
must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not
greedy of
filthy lucre;
Deacons likewise
must be
dignified, not double-tongued or given to much wine or
greedy for money.
Holding the
mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
They
must hold to the
mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a
deacon, being found
blameless.
Additionally, they must first be tested. Then, if they are above reproach, let them serve as deacons.
Even so
must their wives be grave, not slanderers,
sober, faithful in all things.
In the same way, the women
must be
dignified, not slanderers, but temperate and faithful in all things.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
A
deacon must be the husband of but one wife, a good
manager of his children and of his own household.
But if I
tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to
behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the
pillar and ground of the truth.
in case I am delayed, so that you will know how each one
must conduct himself in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the
pillar and foundation of the truth.
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to
shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they
must first learn to show
godliness to their own family and repay their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God.
If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them
relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may
relieve them that are widows indeed.
If any believing woman has dependent widows, she must assist them and not allow the church to be burdened, so that it can help the widows who are truly in need.
The hardworking farmer should be the first to
partake of the crops.
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Nevertheless, God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord
must turn away from iniquity.”
And the servant of the Lord
must not
strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
He
must gently reprove those who
oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them
repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
If any be
blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of
riot or
unruly.
Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to
exhort and to
convince the gainsayers.
He
must hold firmly to the faithful word as it was taught, so that he can
encourage others by sound teaching and
refute those who
contradict it.
Whose mouths
must be stopped, who
subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for
filthy lucre’s sake.
who must be silenced. For the sake of dishonorable gain, they undermine entire households and teach things they should not.
And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
And our people
must also learn to
devote themselves to good works in order to meet the pressing needs of others, so that they will not be unfruitful.
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest
heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Since, then, it remains for some to enter His rest, and since those who formerly heard the good news did not enter because of their disobedience,
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was.
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed as well.
For where a testament is, there
must also of necessity be the death of the
testator.
In the case of a will, it is necessary to establish the death of the one who made it,
And almost all things are by the law
purged with blood; and without
shedding of blood is no remission.
According to the law, in fact, nearly everything
must be
purified with blood, and without the
shedding of blood there is no
forgiveness.
